Medusa’s Makeup Bag January 2017

Hello Beauties,

Another day, another unbagging. If you’ve been on my blog before, you’ll know that Medusa’s Makeup is the newest beauty subscription I started to try, and it’s quickly becoming a favorite of mine!

Medusa’s makeup sends out 4 full sized products every month for $14.95. This brand is a vegan and cruelty free brand, and sells an amazing amount of varied products.

This month, I received two full sized eye products, a full sized lipgloss, and a cute little thing of beauty oil.

Spark Note (White glitter)– I have used this glitter constantly since I got it. You all know I love a glitzy and bold inner corner, and this is the perfect shade for me. It’s bold and it’s not too chunky so it adds the right amount of “ummph” to my smokey eyes. This is probably my favorite item this month by far, and I will likely run out of it.

Purple Rain (full sized eye pigment)– Ow, my heart has still not recovered from losing Prince. I love the name of this pigment, and the shade. Purple is probably the one color outside of neutrals I feel comfortable working with. I love how it looks against green eyes. In general I love the eye pigments from Medusa’s Makeup and I’m always happy to see them included in bags.

Space Kitten (gloss)– Okay, as much as I’m trying to use gloss more…I’m a little tired of getting them. I have several sitting around at this point and I’m looking at them like, “what do I do with you?” I might try the new eye trend and use it on my eyes though and see how that works. I just can’t stand the feeling of most glosses on my lips. I will wear one at some point and then go weeks without picking one up again.

Maracuja Oil– This looks like a tiny sample, but with oils that are 100% a very tiny bit is going to go a long way. I’m always happy to get beauty oils in my subscriptions bags. I have very dry skin so I use oils for about everything from skin care to blending out cream products on my face. I’m happy to add this one to my little stash.

Pinch Me Sample Box

Hey beauties,

How is everyone feeling this week? It hasn’t felt like Winter at all in the city I live in, so it’s really been throwing off my mood and stuff. I’ve been sneezy and my body is all kinds of confused.

Anyway, I was contacted by someone at Pinch Me and was asked if I wanted one of the exclusive blogger boxes. I agreed to it, and agreed to share with my followers in case anyone wants to sign up for their next sample day! With that being said, I did get this box for free. It’s a box filled with past present, and future samples that Pinch Me will send to those that sign up for the website.

Lip Monthly August 2016

I have another subscription unbagging today! I’ve been subscribed to Lip Monthly for awhile now, over a year or so. I’ve mentioned my thoughts on them numerous times. but I do highly enjoy their monthly subscription service.

For $12.95 a month (also ships international), you get four normally full sized products. There’s usually three lip products and one “makeup mix up” which can be about anything. Sometimes it’s hair/skin care and other months it’s eyeshadow or blush. I always look forward to this bag and I find myself actually trying the items in my bag since they’re full sized. Tiny samples can get lost in a deep abyss of “try later” stashes hidden around my vanity. Full sized products are just easier to see, in my opinion.

Anyway, this month I was sent four products. Two of which can be used on the cheeks and lips! Anyone else love multifuncitonal products? I do. I like to stick them in my bag if I’m running errands all day or if I’m super busy. It saves room in my purse and I cut down on the “hand to purse” time looking for products to quickly freshen up my face. Okay, enough, rambling, let’s get on to what was in my bag:

1. Hikari Cosmetics Dual Color Stick $15– This is one of the multitasking products I mentioned before. This can be used on the lips or on the cheeks as a cream stain. There were a couple of different shades sent out, and I received the orange one. I’m not too sure how I feel about the shade. I know I’m shaped like a pumpkin right now, but I don’t want to relive the “pumpkin face” days from my childhood with orange cheeks. The shade would definetely work on someone with a deeper skin tone though!

2. Manna Kadar Lip Crayon $24– This is the second Manna Kadar product I’ve gotten through Lip Monthly, and I’m not complaining. The last item was a gloss and I ended up liking it so much I took it to the beach with me and wore it everyday as a quick nude. I love the shade of this crayon and it’s totally one I can see myself wearing while running errands or for everyday wear around the house.

3. Seraphine Lip/Cheek Gel $20– This brand is a vegan and cruelty free brand and I highly enjoyed the lip stain we received from them a few months ago. I love the packaging, and the gel consistency of this product blends out really well, so I know I can wear it on my cheeks and on my lips if I need a quick wash of color. The shade of this one is one I can wear as well. It’s a deeper pink, but I think this will look lovely in Fall. Flushed cheeks, anyone?

4. Lord & Berry Lip Liner $10– I have received quite a few products from Lord & Berry, and I really love their lip products! This lip liner is a rose shade, and it pairs perfectly with the lip crayon this month! I’ve already used this liner, and it applies so smooth, but not too smooth like the Colourpop ones, so your lipstick is going to stay in place and not feather out throughout the day.

Overall Bag Value- $69

This month’s bag was very high value! I am excited for every product in this bag, and I will even try the Hikari one out just to see if I’m wrong and I can find a use for it. I’m most excited for the lip crayon and pencil though. I’ve been able to try several brands through Lip Monthly that I had never thought to try myself, which is one of the biggest reasons why I’ve remained subscribed.

May Lip Monthly 2016

Hey beauties,

How’s everyone’s Spring been treating them? I feel like Spring is one of the shortest months, next month will be Summer and I will be celebrating three birthdays! My fiancé, and both of my daughters have birthdays next month.

Oh, and if you missed my update on Instagram, we’re having another daughter this September! We already have a name picked out, and we’re excited to welcome Lyrik into our family as our first Fall baby, ha!

Anyway, I have an unbagging to share today. I need to be consistent with my Lip Monthly bags, so what better time to start than now, right?

For May, I received the usual 4 full sized products, 3 lip products and 1 “makeup mix up.” We also got these adorable little bags with tulips on them and the card is really cute as well!

If you’re unfamiliar with Lip Monthly, they’re a beauty subscription that arrives monthly and costs $12.95 per month. Every product is usually full sized and most of them are lip related. Perfect for lipstick lovers like myself! Okay, now on to the products:

Manna Kadar 3 in 1 Gloss: $24 Wow! I love getting high value lip products. Lip glosses are not my thing, but when I swatched this one quickly on my hand it didn’t feel too sticky, and it was very pigmented. Also, the shade is gorgeous! Definitely a shade I tend to gravitate towards all year round.
So Susan Lip and Cheek Stain: $24.95 So Susan is a brand that I’ve gotten often in beauty subscriptions, and I think they have some cute and innovative products! This jelly stain is a little bit of a weird texture, and I will admit the orange shade kind of intimidated me. However, I did put this on my hand and blended it out, and it actually a nice peachy shade. If you’re fair skinned you might need to use a light hand with it, but I think this would look gorgeous on anyone with a medium or deeper skin tone! I can’t wait to try this one out, I love blush products!
Dirty Little Secret Lipstick: $10 The packaging of this is so cute! However, this is the shade of pink I do not wear. I am not into bright pinks. I do think this is a really love Spring and Summer shade though, so I can’t hate on it completely. It might be one that ends up being passed on to a friend though. Anyone else have shades that they are just not okay with? I can wear blues, greens, and black, but pink? No. I can’t wear pink.
Jor’el Parker Face Mask: $10. I don’t believe this product is full sized, but I am pretty excited to try it nonetheless! This face mask is vegan and smells really fancy. What I mean by that is that it smells more like higher end masks…kind of perfume-y but not too much so.

Overall value of bag: $68.95

This month’s bag was one of the highest value bags I’ve gotten in the past few months! I’m really happy with this bag! I might not like the bright pink shade, but the value and awesomeness of the other products this month made up for it.

April Beauty Favorites

Hey lovelies,

Another month, another favorites video. This month I had quite a few new products to talk about. For anyone curious, I did not include the Shaaanxo palette because I still want to play around with it a few more times before calling it a “favorite.” The Kat Von D quad made it because it’s one of the cutest palettes I’ve ordered in awhile, and the green in it really did knock my socks off. I have a look using it on my Instagram if anyone’s interested in seeing what I mean.

Random favorite of the month: anyone else catch my face in Shaaanxo’s April Favorites video at about 7:23? Someone on Facebook tagged me to let me know, and I was at my parents house and almost threw my phone across the room I was so excited. I’m dramatic, I know, but it really was an awesome moment for me considering Shannon is one of my favorite “big” beauty bloggers.

I also give a small pregnancy update in this video at the beginning for anyone that likes to keep up with my life outside of makeup. I hope you all enjoy it! I know it’s lengthy, and I’m going to work on cutting my favorites back down quite a bit. I don’t even realize I’m gushing about a product until I’m editing.

Shaaanxo Palette Tutorial

Blue brownish shades are ones that seem to be very loved among many, so I wanted to do a different take on it. With the pop of color on the lower lash line and with blue brown lips.

April Ipsy Unbagging 2016 “Dreamers”

Hello beauties,

It’s been a minute since I’ve done an Ipsy unbagging on here, so that’s what I’m doing today!

This month’s theme is “The Dreamers.” I’m not entirely sure why, but I rarely don’t question their motives for themes.

If you’re unfamiliar with Ipsy, it’s a beauty subscription that arrives monthly to your mailbox for $10. On average, everyone gets 4-5 full sized or deluxe sample sized products. These can be makeup, hair care, or skin care products. Usually, I get a little bit of everything each month! Personally, I enjoy receiving small samples of multiple products so I can try out over the course of a few months, and I’ve actually repurchased several full sized items after trying them thanks to Ipsy! I’ve been subscribed to them for over 2 years now.

Anyway, this month I think I scored some nice things! So, let’s get right on into what was in my cute little tie dye-esque bag this month:

Tarte’s LipSurgence Creme in Wonder– I’ve actually never tried too many Tarte lip products before, but I love getting Tarte products in my bag! I have swatched this, and it’s very creamy and has a pretty red tone to it. I’m normally not one to wear more sheer and glossy lip products, but I think this one would be nice to have in my bag in the Summer time if I need something to put on quickly that’s not going to feel dry.
Probelle nail polish in In or Out-Most of the time I dislike every shade ever sent to me in terms of nail polish, I’m picky, and I’m not very colorful and I usually get pinks and blues. However, I enjoy purples, and this is a very cute purple shade. I’ve tried this brand in the past when I was subscribed to Beauty Box 5, and it’s actually a decent nail polish.
Nomad Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Desert Sands– I love receiving eyeshadow normally, but I don’t wear gold shadows very often. I’m so pale that I feel gold can quickly overwhelm my face. This shade is nice though and seems like a great quality shade. The little package is cute and even has a teeny tiny mirror. This might be a product I pass on to a friend, however. Nothing against the brand, it’s just not my type of shade.
MorrocainOil Treatment– I love getting oil samples in my subscription bags! I have a mini stash of them, and I cherish them. Oils can be pretty pricey, but they do have multiple functions. I use them on my face, in my hair, and I even blend my liquid products out with them at times. If you have dry skin, oils are going to be your best friend. I have heard that using oil can help those with oily skin as well, but I have never had oily skin a day in my life so I can’t attest to that. This little precious oil sample is going in my stash though.
Luxie Beauty Dreamcatcher Tapered Highlight Brush– I was so ecstatic to see this in my bag! I love Luxie brushes, and I have received several thanks to Ipsy now. I think the blue handle on this is so cute, and it’s so soft! I may post about it on Snapchat soon, so if you’re not following me there and want to, make sure to add me! Not gonna lie, I have a thing for highlighter brushes. I have about 5 now and I use all of them for different highlighters. Don’t judge me. I can feel you judging me.
Too Faced Waterproof Better than Sex Mascara-This was a point perk I redeemed last month and I’m just now getting this month. This is a full sized product, and it’s brand new to Too Faced! I love the Better than Sex mascara, and with Summer coming up I wanted to try a waterproof mascara. I have wimpy natural lashes, and the original Better than Sex is the only one that gives me volume and length. I’m pretty excited to try this one, and more than likely I’ll be doing a video on it!

That’s everything I got this month! Overall, I’m really happy with most of the products I received. Just a friendly tip for anyone subscribed to Ipsy, always review your products at the end of the month. It’s helped me substantially and I have been happy with most of the products in my bags the past 5-6 months.

Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette

Are you all ready for Spring? I have some odd feelings towards Spring. I like early Spring when it’s still cooler and I can layer, but my allergies do not enjoy Spring. It’s my worst season as an asthmatic. I will say that the Winter in my city was not so great and felt like Spring most days, so maybe the transition will be easier.

Today, I want to share a new eyeshadow palette with you all! Yes, momma did a bit too much shopping. I saw little sneak peaks of this palette floating around on Instagram before it was released, and I had convinced myself I didn’t need it. Well, then Too Faced sent out a 20% off code and offered a deluxe sized Better than Sex mascara (my holy grail) and a lipstick with any purchase, and I caved.

The one blogger that kind of convinced me this would be fun to play around with was Jkissa. I love how she put the purple in the inner corner, and I thought it was a fun twist on a warm toned look!

Now, warm toned shadows were not my thing a year ago. I was a cool gal all the way. I’ve since expanded my horizons and I’ve learned to take any warm palette and grunge it up a bit. There’s something about a warm grungy smokey eye that is so timeless to me.

Anyway, on to the actual palette. This is a limited edition palette from Too Faced that can be found on their website or on Ulta’s website. I don’t know if it’s in Ulta stores yet, or if it will be. This palette looks like the other small tin palettes from Too Faced, which we all know I love and still use quite often.

What I like about many of these tin palettes are that they are adorable, and the ones I have can be used for everyday looks and night time looks. The packaging is travel friendly as well.

This palette retails at $36, which is the same price as all the other 9 shade tin palettes.

Right off the bat, I love the shade variety in this palette. There are purples, oranges, a gold, peach, and even a white shade that can work on the brow bone. There are two matte “transition” shades that can be worn separately or used together. That’s going to make this palette versatile, and it’ll be easy for even beginners to create looks without it being too intimidating. Sometimes we all just need to go back to the basics.

Second, look at that freakin packaging. Hands down the cutest palette Too Faced has released so far, in my opinion.

Too Faced is known for releasing cute products, which is why I don’t mind spending a bit more money on them. If I’m going to spend decent money on a product, I would prefer for it to be aesthetically pleasing. This also makes it a nice collector’s piece.

This palette is supposed to smell like peanut butter, which actually sets it apart from the other tin palettes. However, I think it smells more like chocolate.

Of course, every shade is reminiscent of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I will admit I have never been a fan of bananas on my peanut butter sandwiches though. I also like crunchy peanut butter over creamy, and strawberry jelly over grape.

As for swatches, these were done over no primer. The shades swatches very easily and felt super smooth, which is something I experience often with Too Faced shadows in general.

From the wrist down: Nuts about you, Jelly, Extra Creamy, Jammin, Peanut Brittle, Bananas, Peanut Butter Cup, Peanut Butter, Spread the Love

What I love about this palette: Great pigmentation, smooth shades, several mattes for transition, a pop of color, a matte white to highlight, blends easily

What I don’t love: Spread the love was the only shade that didn’t blow me away. It’s pretty sheer, but it’ll probably look lovely layered over another shade.

I did create a look with this palette last week and paired it with the Natural Matte palette. If you have the Natural Matte palette, the Peanut Butter and Jelly one will pair perfectly with it!

Here I used a lot of the shades and used Bananas over top of Peanut Butter cup on the lid. The result was beautiful! I feel Jelly works really well in the inner corner if you love an interesting pop of color in your looks.

My overall thoughts on this palette are that this is worth the purchase if you’re someone that collects these or wants a new warm toned palette for Spring and Summer. I feel this palette has the right mixture of shades to create soft and bold looks, and I love that Too Faced finally put a matte white in a palette.

I think this is a palette that will work on many different skin tones. I know a lot of fellow pale humans fear warm shades, I know I did, but they’re growing on me. Over the past 6 months I’ve learned to love them and I like the warmth some shades give my look on days that I feel super tired and mom-bie like.

BH Cosmetics Pride + Prejudice + Zombies Palette

Hey lovelies,

Ready for some swatches and a review? I picked this palette up awhile back. I am such a sucker for cute packaging…and zombies. This BH Cosmetics palette came out close to the release of Pride + Prejudice + Zombies in theaters. Has anyone seen that movie yet? Is it worth going to see? It looks awesome, but I haven’t had much time for movies lately.

Anyway, the packaging of this palette is so badass, but it also has a badass price point. I ordered this for $12.50 off their site when it was first released, and I also used ebates! You can actually get 7.5% cash back from BH Cosmetics through ebates, and if you’re unfamiliar with the site, it’s just a site that gives you a percentage of cash back from a ton of online sites when you shop through them! I’ll leave my referral link at the end of the post, as well as a link to the actual palette (not affiliate).

When you open the palette, magic happens.

This palette comes with 10 shadows and 3 cheek products. Right off the bat, I love how unique the shade layout is compared to almost every other eyeshadow palette I own. It’s rare that I see purples, silvers, and burgundies in one palette! However, the theme of this palette is zombies, so I’m sure they wanted to create a palette where everyone can create that #deadgirlglam kinda look.

Sometimes BH Cosmetics shadows can be hit or miss for me, but when I swatched this palette I was really impressed with the quality!

These are all the eyeshadow shades swatched over a primer. The only shade that didn’t show up well was the matte cream shade, because it was the same shade as my skin. Other than that, every shade swatched smoothly, especially the shimmer shades!

These are the 3 cheek shades, and they swatched very nicely as well! The highlighter shade is probably not going to work if you have fair skin, but it looks like it would make a really pretty eyeshadow! I love the blush shades though. I think they did a great job at picking one shade that will work on lighter/medium skin tones and one that is intense enough to work on deeper skin tones.

Pros:

Very affordable

Cruelty free, and vegan friendly

A grungy style palette with shimmer that is affordable to everyone, including those that might want to try darker looks, but are afraid of spending too much on something else

Beautiful packaging that will look awesome in your collection forever

Packaging is also travel friendly in several ways. The packaging will make it easy to travel, and there are cheek shades in it, so you won’t have to bring as many products! Neat!

Very pigmented

Blendable, but not too much so. One of my biggest pet peeves with shadows can be when you go to blend them and they all muddy up, no matter how light of a hand you’re using. I haven’t had that issue with this palette.

Gorgeous shimmer shades and burgundies. This is a pro to me, we should all know why by now. I want to see more burgundies in affordable palettes.

Almost matte black. This is crucial to me with palettes like this, because it can add so much dimension to a look. I don’t always understand why companies put super sparkly blacks in smokier palettes.

Cons:

Not a ton of mattes. There’s one “transition” type of shade, but I feel this palette is missing a cooler toned mid tone brown to also use as a transition. I don’t personally like using a warm brown transition shade with purples, so I do have to reach for something else if I want to use the silver and purples.

A bit powdery. It’s not enough to be annoying to me, but some product does kick up when you dip your brush into it. Just make sure to tap your brush before applying product to your eye.

Highlighter shade does not work well for fair skin tones. However, this shade will probably look stunning on medium and deeper skin tones! So, it’s not a full con, but it is for me.

The silver shade has an overspray. This shade was the only one that made my heart a bit sad. I swatched it and watched the metallic look disappear. However, that’s the only shade like that, so it’s not the end of the world.

So, would I recommend this palette to others? Definitely. If you love unique packaging and shade layouts, I feel this palette might be for you. I also love that it’s not going to break the bank, and that it’s vegan and paraben free. I’ve been so impressed with most of my picks from BH Cosmetics lately!

Oh, and I did use a few of the shades from this palette in my last Youtube tutorial! I used the shimmery lavender shade over a deeper purple, and the result was stunning!

February Favorites & A Life Update!

I can’t be the only human in existence that forgets February is the shortest month of the year. Every. Dang. Year.

February was an eventful month for me. I was able to try out a few new things, and my life is changing quite a bit. I go over it in the video, but spoiler alert, I’m pregnant with baby #3. We’re really excited, but that’s why I’ve been a bit inconsistent and super behind on videos and reviews lately. I’ve done nothing but sleep. Well, I’ve taken care of kids obviously, but any time I can snooze with them, I’ve been sleeping. However, I’m almost out of the fatigue zombie feeling first trimester, which means I’ll be back with more posts before long!

I didn’t want anyone to think I’ve been intentionally ignoring others or all around bored with life. I’m basically a human cat right now. All I have energy for some days is sleeping and making sure I don’t smell bad.
