November Ipsy Bag

november ipsy glam bag

Hey beauties,

It’s obviously beauty subscription unbagging week. Also known as one of my favorite weeks of the month. I unbagged everything from my November Lip Monthly bag a few days ago, so today we’re going to take a peak into my November Ipsy bag.

If you’re unfamiliar with Ipsy, they’re a beauty subscription that arrives monthly and costs $10 a month. They typically send out 4-5 deluxe sample sized items or full sized items. I’ve been subscribed to them for a little over 2 years now.

If you follow my blog, you probably already know that the past few months have been weird for me regarding Ipsy bags. Two months ago my bag was stolen out of my mailbox, and last month an item was missing. I’m happy to say that this month the curse is broken and everything arrived safe and sound. Good thing, because this month looks really promising!

First off, I’m dying over the bag. It’s my personal favorite bag so far, design wise. I love galaxy printed anything and everything. I’m a bit of a space junkie, which is something I don’t think I’ve mentioned often on here or anywhere.

Anyway, I received five items in my bag and this is what they were:

1. Benefit Gimme Brow (Sample Size) I was pretty happy to see this in my glam room. I’ve always been curious about it, but I don’t enjoy spending a ton of money on brow products because my brows just don’t respond well to many products. So, having a sample size will be nice! Gimme Brow is a cult favorite as it’s supposed to have little fibers in it that cling to your brow hairs, making them look more voluminous. Not gonna lie, that’s something I need. I do not have full brows, and I never have.

2. Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara (Deluxe Sample) It’s rare that I get two high end samples in Ipsy bags, so that in itself is pretty exciting. I have never personally tried this mascara, but with many mascaras I see a lot of either love or absolute loathe regarding it. I do love trying out new mascaras though! I will admit I have a lot of these little mini samples stashed away at the moment that I need to try out, so if you all want me to start reviewing these as I start running out of mascara (because I hate having a million tubes open, personally) then just let me know!

3. Inspr Beauty Angled Brush Honestly, I love getting brushes in my Ipsy bags. It means one less brush for me to but, and I have received some pretty awesome brushes from Ipsy! My elf brow angled brush has seen better days, and I was just thinking about how I needed a fresh one. Well, now I have one. I can’t wait to see if this is as great as my elf angled brush!

4. LeAnni Ecco Go Away Gloomy Day Serum I have neither received anything from this brand, nor have I even heard of them before this month’s bag. However, I love facial serums. I have a really dry skin type, and this time of the year I go through so many moisturizers and serums. I mean, if this serum will cheer me up I will totally try it out. This was a pretty gracious sample size for a serum, and will probably last awhile.

5. Beaute Basics Sahara Gold Chubby Eye Pencil This product is reminiscent of my favorite Nyx jumbo pencils. I love chubby eye pencils because they work great alone, as a primer, or in the water line. This gold shade is really pretty, and perfect for this time of the year with the holiday season approaching.

Overall thoughts: I am pleasantly surprised with this bag. I feel that Ipsy has upped their game, and I’m sure their new survey and quiz system has something to do with that. I feel like I get less things that go completely unused to more things that I will at least try. I felt there was a good mix this month with high end samples, seasonal trending shades, and a tool that I will actually use regularly.

If there is anything in this bag that you would want to see a separate review on, please let me know! Also, tell me about what you got in your bag if you want!

As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed this short and sweet little unbagging!

Swatch Video: J.Cat Beauty Liptitude 24/7 Lip StainsWIld

jcat lipstick

Hey loves,

I uploaded a video to my Youtube channel last night! I think Friday may become my upload day? I dunno, still working on it. Anyway, I did a review + lip swatches of 5 out of 14 of the new J.Cat Beauty hydrating lip stains.

A few quick things:

These are highly pigmented.

They are semi matte.

The red ones do stain.

I love the heck out of this formula and the colors I swatched.

I bought all of these myself, except for the two that I got off Ipsy, but I also pay for that subscription every month.

The more I try from J.Cat Beauty, the more impressed I am. This formula is awesome, and until the August 1st you can get 25% off on these on their site.

Please watch my video and let me know what you think and if you like lip swatch videos!

Coming next week: Swatches of the Wet n Wild “High Flying Colors” palette

Face of the Day: My “go to” Date Night Look

IMG_8097

Hey lovelies,

How is everyone? I’m sitting down and typing this out on a Tuesday, and it’s been a weird day. A mostly happy day with some weird things. I started my day off by getting pooped on and I broke my favorite jewelry holder on my foot and I bled everywhere. However, once my kids laid down for a nap I was able to sit down and plan out my look for this week. I also had a great selfie day. There’s just something about looking through pictures and thinking, “Damn, I look nice,” that can perk a lady right up. And yes, you’re allowed to think you look damn good sometimes…or everyday. Because you all look nice everyday.

Anyway, today’s look is going to be my “go to” date night look lately. I tried to put my Kat Von D palette down for once and use all single shadows and some new products that I want to talk about a bit more. My go-to style of makeup in general is usually a pretty crease, a light lid, cat eye and fun lipstick. I know this differs for everyone, but I’m a bit “all or nothing” when it comes to my makeup. So, on date nights I like to go all out and feel happy and confident. For me, that includes red lipstick and cat eyes.

IMG_8095

I also put on an outfit that I would probably wear on a night out (a dress) and curled my hair. Without further adieu, let’s get into the details.

IMG_8096

My base today is actually a wee bit different than normal. I haven’t used my Hard Candy primer in awhile, so I pulled it out for this look. I actually like this primer, and do find it helps my makeup to truly stick, even in the Summer. My foundation is Nyx’s Invincible foundation in “Fair” mixed with a bit of my City Color tinted moisturizer in “fair” to thin it out a bit. That’s my number one tip for full coverage foundations on dry skin…a tinted moisturizer or a bit of beauty oil will thin out a matte foundation a bit making it lay better on the skin. I find this doesn’t take away too much coverage, but my skin has also been relatively clear lately.

My concealer is my usual…La Girl’s pro concealer in “porcelain.” However, today I set my under eyes with the City Color HD setting powder that I got in my July Ipsy bag. My first impression is that I enjoy this powder. Loose powder annoys me a bit in the sense that it’s pretty messy, but I did find this powder to be finely milled and very silky feeling.

IMG_8093

For my contour I used the dark shade in the Elf contour kit. Blush is “Birthday Suit” by Colourpop, and highlight is “Smokin Whistles” also by Colourpop.

My brows are my usual as of late, which is the Milani brow pomade in “Dark Brown” and set with Nyx’s brow mascara in “Black”

IMG_8099 IMG_8091

Okay, so for my eyes I primed with my Too Faced Shadow insurance. My transition shade is actually from a sample I received from Shiro Cosmetics called “Mourning.” It’s a lovely medium toned orangey-beige shade that is perfect for warmer toned looks because it’s not too orange. Don’t worry, I’ve ordered the full size. Then as a second transition shade I took “Dirty” by My Pretty Zombie Cosmetics (not pretty zombie cosmetics, it confused me at first too). Because I like to look like a big eyed doll at times, I did a rounded shape and took this pretty far in close to the bridge of my nose.

On my lid is actually a Colourpop shadow called “Acorn.” This came from their Spring collection, and I love it. It’s a pearlized cream color, so it gives dimension to this look without being shimmery. I applied this with my finger, which is how you get the most pigmentation with Colourpop shadows. However, concealer brushes work as well! The outer color is “A regular Bears Meeting” by Shiro Cosmetics.

Normally, I would use black liner for my wing. However, I’m still on the colored liner kick and I created a liner using Shiro Cosmetics’ “A War of Five Armies” shadow (see my method here) and I feel this really made the green in my eyes stand out. It’s a lovely dark burgundy shade. Lashes are the same ones that I talked about in my last video that you can watch here if interested. They’re just ebay lashes, but I love how wispy and romantic they look.

In my water liner I have Nyx’s jumbo eye pencil in “Milk.” Then I have “Mourning” blended out and “Dirty” closer to the lash line and slightly blended out. Mascara is Maybelline’s The Falsies. My inner corner highlight is super dramatic. You don’t have to be as dramatic as me. I used “Swan” from Colourpop. I love this as an inner corner highlight.

vampira

For my lips, it’s just Kat Von D’s “Vampira.” I haven’t worn this liquid lipstick in a bit, and I forgot how much I truly adore this shade and formula. It applies evenly and lasts all day. It feels comfortable and applies like a dream. I definitely want to get my hands on quite a few of the new shades when my local Sephora has all of them. I set my entire face with Urban Decays All Nighter spray.

Funny story about my hair: if you follow me on twitter, you would have seen me mention that I did a wet set using foam rollers and said I looked like “a punk poodle.” I did. It was bad. I put my hair in a bun and the next day (today) my hair looked better, and I went over the weird parts with a curling iron. This was the result. From punk poodle to glorious curls.

My necklace is from Bella Morta Jewelry, and my dress was actually a clearance find from Marshall’s.

I hope you all enjoyed this look! Tell me about your go to looks, for dates or whenever else. What makes you feel sexy and sassy?

Have a good day, lovelies.

My Favorite MLBB Shades

IMG_7819

Hey loves,

Today I am going to be talking about lipstick again! If you’re wondering what “MLBB” stands for, it stands for “My Lips but Better” and not something odd like “My luscious big booty.” This is supposed to be a tag post of some sort, but no one tagged me and I just felt like doing this. I did a post last week about my favorite affordable red lipsticks, so today I want to touch on my favorite nude lipsticks.

For reference: I am very fair and my skin is cool toned. Cool toned mauve colored shades suite my skin tone the best. My lips are also naturally very pigmented, and pull a bit more mauve to begin with. For me, pink nudes with a bit of a brown tone to them are the way to go in terms of nude lipsticks on fair skin. I find it to be very flattering and a striking contrast. I tend to avoid very light pink and super pale nude shades, because many times it just looks like I put concealer on my lips. I mean, there is a time and place for concealer lips, but not when I want something pretty that will go with about any eye look I’m wearing that day.

To answer your question, yes, I have bought so many mauve lipsticks since every makeup company keeps coming out with various mauve and dark nude lipstick shades. Can’t stop, won’t stop. I love this mauve and brown lipstick trend. This is also the picture that I’m going to forever send to creepy people that ask me for nudes. “Oh, okay, here are all my favorite nudes in one photo!” On to the lipsticks of the hour:

Stila “Patina” I lusted over this shade from the moment I saw it on Thataylaa until I finally ordered it during a Stila sale a few months back. This is a liquid to matte lipstick, and it is glorious. It smells like cupcakes and it lasts on my lips for a very long time. I do find that the smell of these lasts for a bit longer than most, so if that kind of thing bothers you, you might not like this formula. I find that the applicator on the Stila liquid lipsticks are very nice and give a precise application. I highly recommend this shade if you love mauve liquid lipsticks.

Nyx Matte “Whipped Caviar” I have mentioned the Nyx Matte formula before, and I will probably continue to do so because I love them so much. Very affordable at $5-6, and whipped caviar is the perfect nude shade for anyone looking for a beautiful mauve shade that’s budget friendly.

Nyx “Thalia” This is an old and constant favorite of mine. The shade is much like “Whipped Caviar” but it’s a glossier formula. I love the round case lipsticks, and I believe I own way too many of them. Thalia is one of those lipsticks that you can throw on with a dewy base and bit of mascara and it somehow glams up the entire look while looking natural. It’s a power shade, in my opinion.

LaSplash “Charmed” This is a more recent addition to my collection, and I have raved about the LaSplash liquid lipsticks very often on my blog. Charmed is from the mousse collection, so this formula is different from the lip couture line. These dry very quickly, and they have an intense staying power. Charmed is a lighter pink-ish nude shade that is very flattering on my skin tone. It’s light and flirty, but it doesn’t wash me out. I do find that this pulls a bit more grey on my lips somedays than pink or mauve, which is nice. It’s a very different shade.

Nyx Butter Lipstick “Pops” The Nyx butter lipsticks pop up often in my lipstick posts. Pops is more of a brown toned mauve, but it is so flattering on multiple skin tones. I highly recommend this color, and the Nyx butter lipsticks in general. They are incredible, and I wear them often, especially in the Summer. I can apply this shade without even looking in a mirror if I need to.

Kat Von D Studded Lipstick “Lovecraft” This is probably one of the most worn lipsticks in my collection. I actually put it down for awhile because I was afraid of running out, and these are on the pricier side at $21 a piece. So worth it. The studded lipsticks are very matte. You will probably need to apply a bit of balm a little while before applying one to make the application smoother. Lovecraft is an absolutely stunning shade. I always get compliments on it when I wear it out. Maybe it’s the confidence it gives me, or maybe it’s how flattering this shade is on my skin…who knows. I just know that if you are looking to buy a few shades from this line, pick this one up. You won’t regret it.

That’s it for today’s post! I hope you all enjoyed this quick little blurb about some of my favorite MLBB shades of lipstick. What are some of your favorite shades of nude? Let me know in the comments section!

Also, if you have any requests for my next “my favorites” lipstick/blush/whatever else post…please let me know! I thoroughly enjoy these types of posts.

I hope you’re all having wonderful days, and thanks for stopping by!

*typical disclaimer- I bought all these products myself, and all opinions are my own!

Face of the Day: Coastal Scents Revealed Palette

IMG_7842

Hey lovelies,

It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for a Face of the Day post! If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen my internal, yet public, debate about what to do this week. Did I want to go sweet and pink, or bold and blue? I have a bit of a problem where I’m either very dramatic, or very low key when it comes to makeup. Anyone else feel the same way?

Bold and blue ended up winning my heart. I saw my Coastal Scents Revealed palette sitting in my holder and it was looking lonely and unloved. So, I decided to do a cool toned look for today since I did a warm look last week.

occ technopagan

occ technopagan

My base was mostly my usual. Laura Mercier hydrating primer and my Nars Weightless Luminous foundation mixed with Loreal’s Magic Lumi foundation (my dream team). Concealer is La Girl HD concealer in “porcelain” mixed with Nyx HD lavender. My face is set with my Laura Geller balance and brighten powder in “porcelain” and my undereyes are set with Ben Nye’s luxury powder in “Cameo.”

Brows are Nyx’s brow gel in “black” and set with their brow mascara, also in black.

IMG_7838

I primed my eyes with Too Faced shadow insurance and my transition shade is actually Nyx’s single shadow in “SOS.” I ordered this shade during the Ulta sale, and it’s a lovely cool toned transition shade. I’ve been reaching for it a lot this past week.

I then went into the crease with a smaller brush using the matte taupe shade in the Revealed palette. Then I took the cool toned silver shade and placed that all over my lid. I love this shade, it’s probably my favorite in the Revealed palette. It’s very reminiscent of “Verve” from the Naked 2 palette, but it’s so pigmented and shimmery. I die.

I took a small angled brush and placed the black shade on the very outer corner and brought it in about 1/3 of the way on the crease and lightly blended that out with a small blending brush. Key here was light and small motions. I didn’t want the taupe and black to become muddy.

Liner is my usual, physicians formula eye booster in ultra black.

Lashes are Ardell double up #204. I was feeling dramatic.

Lower lash line is Nyx’s jumbo eye pencil in “milk” on the water line with “SOS” and the taupe shade from the Revealed palette blended out. I then placed the black shade on the very outside just to even everything up a bit. Mascara is Covergirl’s SuperSizer mascara. Inner corner highlight is Urban Decay’s “Polyster Bride.”

IMG_7839

Blush is Kat Von D’s everlasting blush in “Love Song.” I know I have talked about my love for this blush before. It’s the perfect cool toned pink for pale skin, and it lasts all day.

Contour is done with the Lunatick Labs cool contour kit. These are currently unavailable on their site, but that’s because they’re reformulating them! I believe they are trying to make the colors less soft so that they don’t break as easily and changing the packaging. Not totally for sure.

Highlight on the nose is Colourpop’s “Smoke and Whistles.” Gorgeous champagne shade. I don’t know why I haven’t been using it more often.

Highlight on the cheeks and brow arches is Babydoll Cosmetics highlight in “Mermaid Skin.” I love the absolute shit out of this highlight. It looks like mermaid skin and has a very subtle blue glow to it. However, I’ve been debating on whether or not to use this on my blog for other reasons…

I bought this highlighter a few months ago with my own money. It took over a month to get the product. Normally, this wouldn’t bother me because sometimes indie companies have long turnaround times. It happens. But if I’m trying to email you because your site says nothing about a delay and I have gotten no response or anything…I get worried. Anyone would, and frankly, it’s unprofessional in my eyes. Please don’t think I’m trying to bash anyone, I’m just being honest about my own personal experience. I feel that’s something I should do as a beauty blogger, which is why I’m mentioning it now. I’ve seen a lot of drama on this brand’s makeup page, and I don’t know what’s going on fully, but it is something I pay attention to as a blogger and consumer. I love this highlight, but I’ve noticed a lot of people complaining about not getting responses or their products. Always look into whatever brand you’re buying from. You owe it to yourself.

Anyway, now that I got that off my chest we can finish the post.

My lips are lined with Urban Decay’s 24/7 primer pencil and topped with OCC’s lip tar in “Technopagan.” I bought this during their 40% off sale, and I am so happy about it. I love this shade. It’s blue and purple at the same time. I can’t get over how absolutely gorgeous it is, and it’s like nothing in my collection thus far. Putting the primer pencil underneath definitely helped the color to standout and stay put throughout the day.

My mermaid collar is from salemcouture.com. Isn’t it fabulous?

That’s about it for today’s face of the day post! If you have any questions about anything mentioned, please feel free to ask!

Thank you for reading if you read to this point, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days.

One Palette, Five Looks: Innerstellar Palette

IMG_3506 IMG_3507

Hey lovelies,

I was tagged by the lovely Kaily at Someday Sunny quite some time ago to create 5 different looks using one palette. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to do this tag, I didn’t know what palette I wanted to use for a hot minute. I wanted to use something that I love and haven’t used as much lately, but is still available.

After much thought, I went with the Kat Von D Innerstellar palette. Why? Well, for one it’s one of my favorite palettes. The galaxy type colors inspire me in a big way, and I feel this palette is very versatile and has a great mix of mattes and shimmers. It’s also limited edition and with the release of Kat Von D’s summer collection coming up in July, I don’t know how much longer this palette will be available. So, I wanted to show how gorgeous it is in one dedicated post for those that might still be on the fence about it, or don’t use cool toned shadows often. If you’re unfamiliar with this palette, I will link my review with swatches and all of the names at the end of this post along with Kaily’s original post.

This palette is super cool toned. It is the coolest (officially my worst pun) but it is so gorgeous, so without further adieu, let’s move on to the 5 looks I did.

IMG_6836 IMG_6837

Look one: a simple daytime look.

Transition shade: Killing Moon Base and eyebrow shade: Lycan

Crease: Astrological

Inner corner shade: Dios

Lower Lash Line: Nude liner in the water line, Killing Moon and Astrological blended out

Lashes: Kiss #11

Lips: Nyx “Enamored” contour is actually “Vast” from the Innerstellar palette and blush is “prenup” by Colourpop.

IMG_6909 IMG_6908

Look two: a dramatic vampy look

Transition shade: Vast Lid shades: Moonshine on the entire lid and Night Crawler blended out on the outside

Water line is Urban Decay’s 24/7 liner in “Black Velvet” smoked out with Vast and 3am. Inner corner “flick” created with Night Crawler and a small angled brush and filled in with Moonshine. Lashes are Kara #WSP

Lips: Nyx Simply Vamp in “Temptress”

Blush is ‘LoveSong” by Kat Von D and highlight is Colourpop’s “Hippo”

IMG_6904 IMG_6903

Look three: Smokey eye with no winged liner

Transition shade: vast Lid shades: Darkstar and Lunacy

Used Urban Decay’s 24/7 liner in Black Velvet on the lash line and smoked it out with Night Crawler and applied Kiss #11 lashes. Brow bone is Lycan.

Lash line is Vast, Killing Moon, and Darkstar smoked out and blended together.

Contour is Vast from Innerstellar.

Blush is Colourpop’s “Prenup” and Face and inner corner highlight is Colourpop’s “Hippo”

Lips are Lasplash “Ghoulish”

IMG_6839 IMG_6838 IMG_6835

Look four: galaxy inspired. This is probably my favorite look. I’m happy with how this one turned out.

Transition shade: Killing Moon

Lid Shades: 3am on outside and inside corners.

Middle of the lid: Dios and Moonshine together applied with my finger

Blended out the entire shape using Orion.

Water line liner is Bellapierre’s gel liner in “Ebony” and 3am, Killing Moon, and Orion are blended out on the lower lash line.

Lashes are Kara #43.

Lips are Kat Von D “Lovecraft”

Cheeks are Nyx’s blush in “Taupe” and Kat Von D’s blush in “Lovesong.”

Highlight is Elf’s baked highlight in “Moonlight Pearls”

IMG_7076 IMG_7078

Look five: Would it be a post by me if I didn’t add a look with a raccoon-esque feel and odd lip color? Probably not.

For this look I applied Maybelline’s color tattoo in “tough as taupe” on the outer and inner corners on the top lid, and messily ran it on the lower lash line as well. The key word for this look was “messy”

Transition/blending shade: Astrological

Outer/Inner corner shade: Night Crawler

Middle shade: Moonshine

Lower lash line: astrolgical and killing moon blending far down to create that killer raccoon smokey eye.

Brow shade: Lycan

Liner and lashes: Physicians formula eye booster pen, Kiss #11 lashes

Contour: Nyx blush in “taupe”

Blush: Wet n Wild “Pearlescent Pink”

Highlight: Elf “Moonlight Pearls:

Lips: Manic Panic’s “After Midnight” topped with Kat Von D’s “Poe.”

I know this look isn’t for everyone. I wanted to add a bit of my own pizazz in though.

Anyway, those are my five looks for this lovely and fun tag! I’m not going to tag anyone in particular, and here’s why…I think this is something everyone that has an abundance of eyeshadow palettes should do. This tag actually re-sparked my love for this palette, and I haven’t been able to put it down even after doing these looks! I actually want to do this with more palettes in my collection. It’s a fun challenge to create different looks with the same palette. It forced me to use different bases, techniques, and color combinations. I even learned that the shade “Vast” doubles as an amazing contour shade for paler skin tones. Seriously, if you own this palette, try it as a contour.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, because I had so much fun doing this.

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you are all having wonderful days.

Hardcandy Ombre Baked Blush and Highlighter Duo

hard cany

Hey lovelies,

Today I wanted to share a few products that I have had for awhile and have been meaning to review and swatch. If you’re new here, there’s something you should know: I love Hard Candy makeup. I think they’re an underrated drugstore brand and I wish I saw more people talking about their products! There are some misses, but lately they have been coming out with some stellar and affordable products, and I want to share a few with you all today.

The two products I want to share are an ombre baked blush and a highlighter duo. The baked blush I believe is permanent, but the heart shaped highlighter is not, sadly.

If you’re unfamiliar with Hard Candy, they’re a Walmart exclusive brand that is also cruelty free. I have done a review of their new Natural Eyes palette that I will link at the end of this post.

IMG_6881

First up, this baked blush. Can we just admire it for a second? It’s so gorgeous. I love baked blushes in general because I find them to be pigmented and shimmery, so many times they act as a highlighter-blush in one. No need for extra steps in my routine on a busy morning? Score! What’s unique about this ombre blush though is that you can kind of “customize” the shade you want based on where you apply your brush. You can go to the white side for just a highlight. You could go on the other side for an intense pink, or somewhere in the middle for a very pretty pink glow. It’s up to you!

This product is very pigmented and swatches very well. It looks beautiful on the cheeks. I have the shade “punch” but I’m really tempted to go and pick up the other shade as well. I find that it doesn’t take much at all to get color to your cheeks, so be wary of that if you’re not into the intense Snow White kind of look (I am, not gonna lie).

IMG_6872

Swatches shown left to right: highlight side alone, everything swirled together, pink side alone

See, it’s totally like getting 3 colors in one product! I love this little baked blush.

Highlighter duo: First off, the cute little heart tin packaging spoke to me. So reminiscent of the Too Faced heart-shaped boxed blushes. It’s not as fancy as the Too Faced ones, but it’s still cute in terms of drugstore packaging. This was part of the collection Hard Candy released for their 20th anniversary.

IMG_6880

There are two sides, obviously. A lighter and darker side. I didn’t know how the darker side would look on my fair skin, but surprisingly this product leans more on the “natural glow” side than the “wam bam highlighter in yo face” side. There’s no visible glitter in it. The texture and finish reminds me much of Physician’s Formula highlighters, and those are my absolute favorite highlighters in the drugstore.

This duo felt very soft and buttery to the touch. You can tell when you touch it that it is finely milled. I’ve also seen people depot the heart very easily by just popping the little booger out and into a z-palette, if that’s something you would want to do.

Because this is a duo, you can use either side or mix both shades together. The swatches I have are of just each side.

IMG_6873

I had to go over each swatch a few times simply because this product really does give a natural glow and it’s pretty hard to overdo it.

It lasted fairly well on my face, but I will say that after about 8 hours it seemed to fade away. I don’t touch up many times throughout the day, so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re wanting to wear this all day…it might fade after awhile. Would this be work appropriate? Yes. Appropriate for a night out at the club? Maybe not.

I will say that overall I’m happy with this little tin of prettiness, and I think this will look pretty in the Fall when I want a more toned done “glow from within” type of look. It’s a very pretty champagne highlighter that is pretty good quality in terms of drugstore highlights. Do I like this more than my holy grail Physicians Formula?? No, but I do think this is a nice and cute thing to add to your collection if you’re a Hard Candy lover.

As always, thanks for reading this post if you made it this far, and if you’re new here I hope you stay awhile!

Sugarpill Sparkle Baby Palette

IMG_6695

Oh look, a wild palette appears!

I hope you all are having a lovely Saturday, and I hope you made a snack because I have a quick(er) and fun Swatch Saturday for today!

Okay, story time. On Mother’s Day my mom handed me a card and said, “There’s gift cards in there, one is for a lunch date and one is for makeup and only makeup…not diapers or things for the girls. Makeup. Buy a palette.” Yes ma’am, you don’t have to tell me twice. So, I bought this palette from Sugarpill because I’ve actually been wanting it for so long. The first time I truly wanted this palette was after Cora from VintageorTacky used it to create her Marie Antoinette look. Fun fact: I’m obsessed with Marie Antoinette and have a love for French history. They just really fascinate me. However, that’s not what this post is about today.

That’s my short backstory behind how this palette is now in my little paws.

Sugarpill is a cruelty free indie company that sells a lot of pastel and neon oriented things. If you’re in the mood to brighten up your face, go check this company out. That’s right, I bought something that isn’t neutral! I’m a bit burned out with neutral palettes at the moment *gasp* and I really wanted to add something colorful and flirty to my collection for Summer.

This palette retails at $34, and the shipping was really quick. Also, can we talk about how cutely packaged everything is? I really adore companies that take the time to make sure EVERYTHING looks amazing when it’s shipped to a customer. When I recieved my package I also got a cute sticker and a sample of a loose pigment.

So, on to the actual palette. I’m going to talk about the packaging again, sorry. IT HAS A KITTEN ON IT. I die. It’s a kitten wearing a tiara. Honestly, this is the cutest palette I own so far. It’s a standard cardboard outside, but the kitten with the tiara makes me smile every damn time I look at it.

When you open this palette up, there are 4 full sized shades in it. All of these shades are also sold separately for $12 each, so for $34 you’re getting all of them, which is a pretty decent discount.

Now, I will say that this is not a palette you would buy thinking there’s going to be a matte transition shade, a crease shade etc…you’ll have to use other shades to compliment this palette if that’s something you do. However, this palette comes with 4 stunning and pigmented shades that are perfect for Spring and Summer if you’re looking to do bold and/or flirty looks.

Pastels and bright shades tend to be hit and miss at times. Sometimes pastel shades can be very lacking in pigmentation, and sometimes bright shades can go on patchy and look dry.

How did these measure up? I’m getting to that!

From left to right:

Kitten Parade- a peachy rose-gold shade with lots of shimmer

Frostine- a sheer lilac

Candy crush- a pastel mint shade

Hotsy Totsy- bright hot pink

Out of all of these, kitten parade is probably my favorite. I just really want to wear it everyday so that when people ask me what’s on my lids I can respond, “Kitten Parade.” Frostine took me a bit to build up, it’s a very sheer lilac shade. Pretty, but def not super “bam, in your face” pigmented. It does work beautifully to blend out edges if you’re using this palette to create a bright look though. Candy Crush also has a really nice texture to it, and while pigmented, you’ll get the best pigmentation if you use this over a white base like the Nyx Jumbo eye pencil in “Milk.” It’s super lovely, and I actually enjoy this shade as an inner corner highlight. Hotsy Totsy was the only one with a different texture than the rest. It was a bit dry. However, when I put it on my lid it blended out gorgeously and didn’t look dry on my lids. I think it feels a bit dry because it’s another one of those shades that’s a matte with shimmer added to the matte base. With that being said, with the right amount of blending this shade can be made into an out of this world hot pink matte shadow.

Overall, I’m so in love with this palette. I can’t wait to sit down and play with it more and create fun Summer looks with it. I may hate the Summer heat, but at least my eyeballs will be pretty.

I plan on filming a tutorial using this palette soon, so if you’re interested in that and are new to my blog, please follow me and/or subscribe to my channel!

As always, thanks for reading this post if you made this far, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days.

If you have any questions about this palette or in general, please ask!

ColourPop Turns 1!

IMG_6846

So, if you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably already seen this picture. ColourPop Cosmetics turned 1 years old as a company, and they celebrated by sending out a free shadow with ANY purchase last week in the shade “Birthday Girl.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Colourpop, they’re an indie brand that has been taking youtube and instagram by storm lately. They have grown so much over the past year, because their products are affordable and very unique. I have posted a few reviews that I will link at the end of this post, but in a nutshell, I love their products. They’re cruelty free and there’s an absolutely stellar range of colors. They started out with only eyeshadows, then added lippies, then added blushes, then added highlighters, and most recently…bronzers.

What I love about this brand is their attention to detail and how they constantly keep everyone in suspense as we wait on what they’ll come out with next. I’m so happy that they have had a great deal of success this year, and I wish them nothing but the best as a company.

I only ordered 2 things this time, mostly because I really wanted “Birthday Girl.” Don’t judge me, the pretty pink packaging sucked me in. So, I ordered a super shock shadow from the “Rumer Has It” collection, which is a collab with Rumer Willis. I ordered “Swan” because Swan Lake is beautiful in general, and I have a massive soft spot for white shadows…and glitter.

White shadows are the only ones that really show up well on my fair skin, and there’s just something so classic about stark white shadow and bright red lips, which is a look I wear often.

The brush pictured is from Sedona Lace, but I will be talking about that later on 😉

If you’re unfamiliar with Colourpop’s super shock shadow formula, they’re very creamy and not creamy at the exact same time. Very pigmented, very smooth, and rarely require primer if you wear them alone. For $5 a piece, these are some of my favorite single shadows, and I don’t buy single shadows very often.

Left is “Birthday Girl” which is a really pretty bronze shade and right is “Swan” which is a glittery and gorgeous white shade.

Both of these swatches are done over no primer, and I barely swirled my finger around in each pot to get this pigmentation. These are intense.

However, when I was looking closely at Swan I noticed it reminded me of something I already own…”Polyester Bride” by Urban Decay, which is my favorite inner corner highlight to use…and it’s $18 for the single shadow.

Right: Swan by Colourpop $5

Well, they’re similar but still different. Colourpop’s has more glutter in it and Polyester Bride is more shimmery and a has a bit more silver in it. However, if you’re not too weird about little details, Swan might be a great and affordable alternative if you’re been wanting Polyester Bride, which I do recommend as a shade.

Anyway, that’s about it for today’s quick little post. I will be doing a review with swatches soon of the Colourpop Highlighters that I ordered a few weeks ago, so stay tuned!

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you decide to stay if you’re new to my blog!

Have a great night, lovelies.

Wet n Wild Lunch in Sao Paulo Palette

wet n wild lunch in sao paulo

Hey lovelies,

So, I was trying to find the California Roll palette from the Silver Lake collection only to discover that most of the Walgreens in my area have started to take the displays down. I was a wee bit crushed. However, Kaily from Someday Sunny must have felt my pain states away and found one and is sending it to me! Seriously, that made my whole day.

The point of me mentioning that is because even though I couldn’t find anymore Silver Lake palettes, I did find a display with a new Limited Edition Wet n Wild palette!

If you’ve read my reviews on the Paris Runway and Milano palettes knows that I think the quality of these palettes are awesome for drugstore eyeshadow palettes. If you’re looking for a cruelty free and affordable palette, I do reccomend them.

With that being said, to avoid repeating myself I’m just going to share photos and swatches and my thoughts on how this compares to the other two.

IMG_6493

Price: $7.99, same as the others

Permanent? Nope, this is one of the limited edition items from Wet n Wild that will be popping up over Spring and into Summer. So, if you see it and want it, snag it.

Colors: This palette has a few very bright and colorful shades and some neutral shades. There are no matte shades in this one, so you may need to use some from other palettes if you’re like me and enjoy matte transition shades, but overall the colors are very pretty and I feel there’s a decent amount of diversity.

Quality: The quality is the same as the other two, in my opinion. Very easy to swatch, and the colors feel very nice. A few of the colors were very slightly powdery, but nothing too bad. I do feel that in terms of drugstore quality, these are awesome shadows.

This palette comes with the brush just like the other two did. It’s not my personal favorite brush, but it works if you’re in a pinch, or if you’re just starting out with makeup.

Swatches:

IMG_6498

These swatches are done with no primer underneath. The color payoff was really nice. The yellow-ish color I had to work a bit with, but I typically do with all lighter shades because my skin is so fair. I’m dying over that greenish-teal color though. I really want to play with that one.

IMG_6492

Overall thoughts: Ah, I’ve been sucked into the “limited edition” trap once more. However, this one I am very happy with, and I’m already planning out a possible “get ready with me” video using it! It’s probably obvious by now that Wet n Wild is one of my favorite drugstore brands.

I don’t know if I like this palette more than the Milano one, but I do like it more than the Paris Runway palette. I don’t like that it lacks mattes, but the pretty colors kind of make up for it I suppose. The closest thing to a matte is the teal shade, but even then it still has a bit of sparkle in it. However, if you did some blending you could probably blend the sparkle away. Only do that with shadows, don’t blend your real life sparkle away 😉

I do have some more limited edition goodies from Wet n Wild to review soon, so stayed tuned! If you’re new here, stay awhile if you want!

What are your thoughts on this palette?? Will you be picking it up?
