BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes Palette Review

bh cosmetics foil eyes palette

Ah, another day, another palette review.

I know I’ve done quite a few palette reviews over the past few weeks, but with good reasoning. 1. I actually sold a few non-cruelty free palettes and ones I wasn’t reaching for so I could justify buying some new and more colorful palettes 2. Well, these reviews benefit anyone else that’s curious, right? Just think of me as your friendly neighborhood kinda goth makeup guinea pig.

Anyway, I have a review of the new BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes palette. Ironically, a few of the palettes I placed up for sale on my Postmark are from BH Cosmetics. I wasn’t going to get this one until I saw Shannon Shortcake’s comparison video. I am quite sure she had some hypnosis going on in that video because before I knew it, I had this in my cart and was checking out.

Shimmer shadows and foiled shades are something I’ve been trying to work more with this past year. I find they add so much dimension and glamour to a look, but aren’t as hard to use as say glitter. Some of the most popular foiled shadows are from Makeup Geek, but those are also $10 a shade, which isn’t in everyone’s budget. They’re gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but I love seeing other brands create more affordable “dupes” of cult favorites.

This palette comes with 28 shades, and I ordered it for $12. That’s roughly 42 cents per shade, which is pretty freakin sweet compared to the $10 per shade Makeup Geek’s foiled shadows are.

This palette is also vegan friendly, and claims to contain highly pigmented metallic shades that are easy to blend. That’s some high claims for a shadow, but how did these stand against my own high standards? Let’s start with the basics.

The packaging itself is very standard, and very boring. The top of it is clear though, which is something I like with palettes of this sort. I wish my Morphe palettes had clear tops so I wouldn’t have to flip them upside down constantly. I will say that my palette arrive in one piece, but some of the pans were a bit loose. The glue that holds these in seems to be a bit cheap, but if this occurs to you the solution is simple, you can just place them back with hot glue and reinforce them. Mine did press back down though, so it wasn’t too big of a bother. Just something to be aware of.

The shade selection in this palette is dreamy. Observe:

Right off the bat, I love the shade selection and lay out of this palette. It’s very aesthetically pleasing to me, and I love the wide variety of shades. This is a palette that I feel everyone can find several shades they love. There are purples, pinks, blue, neutrals, coppers, and even a “blue brown” type of shade. Paired with the right matte palettes, you can create any type of look your heart desires. I legitimately gasped when I saw the purple and lilac shades in person. I have such a weak spot for shimmery purples. I feel they make my green eyes stand out, and it’s one of the only colors outside of neutrals that I feel truly comfortable working with.

As for swatches:

bh cosmetics foil eyes

bh cosmetics foil eyes

These are all swatched under no primer and under daylight lamps. Are these as reflective as the Makeup Geek foiled shadows? Certainly not, but in my opinion, these are really amazing for the low price point! What’s even better is the fact that you can spritz a bit of setting spray on your brush and wear these wet. That’s going to create that more “metallic” effect if that’s what you’re desiring. The only shade that disappointed me when I swatched these was the blackened teal shade. It really wasn’t “foiled” to me and looked kinda blah and one dimensional. That’s really the only shade that was like that for me though.

These shadows can be a bit powdery, and I recommend tapping your brush before applying to your eyes. Makeup Geek’s can be a bit powdery on me as well, which is why I gravitate towards using my fingers to apply the darker shades. I’m not trying to give myself a bright blue highlight.

I’ve applied these wet and dry, with a brush, and with my finger. Of course, with most shimmer shadows, applying with your finger is going to give the greatest pigmentation. However, I’ve found that these apply very well with a flat shader brush as well. Paired with the right  matte palette(s), you can create some stellar colorful looks and neutral looks!

I’ve been creating looks with this palette for a little over a week now. I got this palette about the same time as my Makeup Geek and Manny MUA palette, and I’m not gonna lie, I’ve reached for this one more than the Makeup Geek one.

In the first look I used the peachy toned shade dry and then went over it again with a wet brush and used the white shade in the inner corner. In the second look I used the charcoal shimmer on the lid for a “halo” effect, and then used the bright blue and yellow on the lower lash line. I wanted to show the versatility of this palette by doing one “soft” look and another fun look that was actually completely out of my comfort zone.

I also created a talk through tutorial using this palette, where I show the steps on creating the first peachy look I did:

Overall, I’m enjoying this palette so much right now! It’s been fun to play with as the days grow longer and a tad bit warmer, which automatically makes me want to add a bit of shimmer and color to my makeup routine. Not to mention, this palette is affordable and I feel it’s one anyone that wants to add some shimmer to their eye makeup routine should look into!

This has to be my favorite palette BH Cosmetics has come out with thus far. I loved the Zombies palette, but I feel BH nailed trying to create a palette that everyone would enjoy, from neutral to color lovers.

What are your thoughts on this palette? Will this be one that you add to your collection? Let me know your thoughts down below! I love hearing from you all.

As always, thanks for stopping by. I hope you all found this review informative or entertaining in some way. I hope you you’re all having wonderful days.

BH Cosmetics Pride + Prejudice + Zombies Palette

pride prejudice zombies palette bh cosmetics

Hey lovelies,

Ready for some swatches and a review? I picked this palette up awhile back. I am such a sucker for cute packaging…and zombies. This BH Cosmetics palette came out close to the release of Pride + Prejudice + Zombies in theaters. Has anyone seen that movie yet? Is it worth going to see? It looks awesome, but I haven’t had much time for movies lately.

Anyway, the packaging of this palette is so badass, but it also has a badass price point. I ordered this for $12.50 off their site when it was first released, and I also used ebates! You can actually get 7.5% cash back from BH Cosmetics through ebates, and if you’re unfamiliar with the site, it’s just a site that gives you a percentage of cash back from a ton of online sites when you shop through them! I’ll leave my referral link at the end of the post, as well as a link to the actual palette (not affiliate).

When you open the palette, magic happens.

bh cosmetics palette

This palette comes with 10 shadows and 3 cheek products. Right off the bat, I love how unique the shade layout is compared to almost every other eyeshadow palette I own. It’s rare that I see purples, silvers, and burgundies in one palette! However, the theme of this palette is zombies, so I’m sure they wanted to create a palette where everyone can create that #deadgirlglam kinda look.

Sometimes BH Cosmetics shadows can be hit or miss for me, but when I swatched this palette I was really impressed with the quality!

BH cosmetics eyeshadow

These are all the eyeshadow shades swatched over a primer. The only shade that didn’t show up well was the matte cream shade, because it was the same shade as my skin. Other than that, every shade swatched smoothly, especially the shimmer shades!

bh cosmetics

These are the 3 cheek shades, and they swatched very nicely as well! The highlighter shade is probably not going to work if you have fair skin, but it looks like it would make a really pretty eyeshadow! I love the blush shades though. I think they did a great job at picking one shade that will work on lighter/medium skin tones and one that is intense enough to work on deeper skin tones.

Pros:

Very affordable

Cruelty free, and vegan friendly

A grungy style palette with shimmer that is affordable to everyone, including those that might want to try darker looks, but are afraid of spending too much on something else

Beautiful packaging that will look awesome in your collection forever

Packaging is also travel friendly in several ways. The packaging will make it easy to travel, and there are cheek shades in it, so you won’t have to bring as many products! Neat!

Very pigmented

Blendable, but not too much so. One of my biggest pet peeves with shadows can be when you go to blend them and they all muddy up, no matter how light of a hand you’re using. I haven’t had that issue with this palette.

Gorgeous shimmer shades and burgundies. This is a pro to me, we should all know why by now. I want to see more burgundies in affordable palettes.

Almost matte black. This is crucial to me with palettes like this, because it can add so much dimension to a look. I don’t always understand why companies put super sparkly blacks in smokier palettes.

Cons:

Not a ton of mattes. There’s one “transition” type of shade, but I feel this palette is missing a cooler toned mid tone brown to also use as a transition. I don’t personally like using a warm brown transition shade with purples, so I do have to reach for something else if I want to use the silver and purples.

A bit powdery. It’s not enough to be annoying to me, but some product does kick up when you dip your brush into it. Just make sure to tap your brush before applying product to your eye.

Highlighter shade does not work well for fair skin tones. However, this shade will probably look stunning on medium and deeper skin tones! So, it’s not a full con, but it is for me.

The silver shade has an overspray. This shade was the only one that made my heart a bit sad. I swatched it and watched the metallic look disappear. However, that’s the only shade like that, so it’s not the end of the world.

IMG_5185

So, would I recommend this palette to others? Definitely. If you love unique packaging and shade layouts, I feel this palette might be for you. I also love that it’s not going to break the bank, and that it’s vegan and paraben free. I’ve been so impressed with most of my picks from BH Cosmetics lately!

If you’re wanting to save money while buying makeup, here’s my ebates referral link.

Oh, and I did use a few of the shades from this palette in my last Youtube tutorial! I used the shimmery lavender shade over a deeper purple, and the result was stunning!

What are your thoughts on this palette? Will you be picking it up? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section! I love to hear from you all.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and checking out this review. I hope you all found it helpful or entertaining in some manner. I hope you’re all having wonderful days!

New Makeup Tutorials!

Hey beauties,

First off, Happy October! September kind of flew by for me, but it’s okay since my favorite holiday is almost here! I’ll more than likely be trick or treating with my kids, but I’m truly excited because Harmony is now old enough to pick out her own costume. Lately, she’s been obsessed with Tim Burton films and weird clay-mation movies, so I’m eager to see what she has in mind.

I do not have a detailed “Face of the Day” post this week as I’m trying to catch up on a few things I need to film so I can finally start on Halloween tutorials and blog posts! I do, however, have a few new tutorials on my Youtube channel! One is very glamorous, and the other is very dark and bold. Kinda grungy, still kinda glamorous.

I hope you all enjoy them! If you’re not subscribed to my channel, you should be! You can see when I upload new videos first and come chat with me!

  1. Too Faced Stardust palette & the Vegas Nay Grand Glamor Lashes

This tutorial is the more “Fall glam” look. It’s really not very hard to achieve, but the lashes really steal the show in this look, in my honest opinion. They take the look from everyday to “bam!”

too faced stardust palette IMG_2191

I do have a full product list underneath the description. If you’re curious about the Too Faced and Vegas Nay Stardust palette, I have a full review with swatches here.

2. Warm Eyes + Black Lips ft. Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter Stack

pretty zombie cosmetics black cat IMG_2357

I’ll be honest, this is probably my favorite tutorial I have done so far. It was really fun to create, and it’s very bold, yet very simple to achieve. Those are my favorite kinds of looks, honestly. The ones that anyone can do and do a bit messily and them still look glamorous. I haven’t used my Dark Matter stack in awhile, and I paired it with a few indie shadows to keep this look mostly vegan on the eyes and lips, other than the Nyx inner corner highlight. I do have a review of the Dark Matter stack here if you want to see if I feel this 4 color magnetic palette is worth the hype.

Full details and products are under the description for this look as well!

That’s it for what’s new on my Youtube channel! Which is your favorite look? If you have any requests, please let me know!

As always, thanks for stopping by, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days!

Carli Bybel & BH Cosmetics Palette: Review + Swatches

carli bybel palette

Okay, is it just me, or are Youtubers the new celebrities? Maybe I just follow too many beauty accounts, but it seems like every big Youtuber is coming out with their own palettes with different brands. I’m not complaining, but my wallet is screaming at me. It’s practically begging me to stop at this point.

I know that some people are iffy with youtuber collabs, but I quite like them. I think it’s awesome to see someone’s hard work pay off. I also like beauty blogger collabs because I feel that many truly want to create an awesome product/shade, because many review products regularly and have a decent grasp on what makes an awesome makeup product.

Today, I’m going to be talking about the new BH Cosmetics and Carli Bybel collab palette. This palette nearly broke the internet. Carli has over 2 million followers, and this palette was $12.50 when it released. You read that right. I couldn’t believe it myself at first. I think that’s why I was really excited about this palette. It’s one that everyone can afford, from a brand that’s cruelty free and has high quality products. I love BH Cosmetics, and I love Carli’s channel, so this was a match made in palette heaven. Carli was one of the first youtubers I ever subscribed to. I don’t have the same style as her, but her charisma and cute personality always kept me watching her videos.

carli bybel palette

Anyway, I did wake up at 3 am the day this released to buy it. I had no troubles checking out, but a few hours later when everyone else started waking up the website almost crashed and was really slow. I will say that I don’t think BH Cosmetics has ever ran out of a blogger collab palette. They always try to keep a good stock.

Update: These palettes are currently sold out on the BH Cosmetics website, so if you want one, make sure to sign up for an email notification!

This palette comes with 12 eyeshadows and 4 highlighters.

carli bybel palette

That’s right, for $12 and some change, you can get 12 shadows and 4 highlighters. To me, that is unbelievable. Also, can we talk about the packaging for a second? I don’t think I own any white palettes. I guess most would think they would get dirty, but this isn’t a matte finish packaging, so it will be easy to wipe anything off. I find this packaging to be very sleek and gorgeously chic. I just want to display it somewhere in my house.

IMG_2029

The shades in this are very Fall-esque to me. It’s very neutral, so it’ll be something everyone can use, and there’s some mauve and plum toned shades in it. I honestly think this is a palette that people of so many skin tones can use. These are very flattering shades on so many people, and in that sense, Carli nailed this. I love youtuber collabs, but sometimes I feel some don’t always choose shades or concepts that will appease many of their followers, which is okay that’s their choice, but it’s a bummer to those of us that do like supporting other bloggers.

Swatches:

carli bybel palette

Shadows

carli bybel palette

highlighters

First impressions: The shadows are really pigmented, especially the shimmer shadows! I did have a bit of product kick up in the pan with a few of the matte shades, but it wasn’t anything too intense, and it didn’t cause fall out on my face. The shimmer shadows in this palette are to die for though. These are the kinds of light champagnes and pink shimmers that I live for in terms of eyeshadow. They’re just really flattering and easy to use on many skin tones.

I did notice that the shadow can get on the pretty white parts on the pallete, but thanks to the material of the pallete it was easy for me to wipe away. Maybe this is why most eyeshadow palettes aren’t white. I’m a bit rough with them, as are many others.

As for the highlighters, these are so stinkin’ pretty. I almost gasped when I swatched the pink shade, because it’s so perfect for my skin tone. The last two highlighters I will probably not be able to use often since they’re so dark, but I can use them as eyeshadows. The second highlighter is an intense champagne shade, which might be too much for my pale skin, but it could probably be used as a blush topper if it is too dark to use as solely a highlighter.

I have used the pink highlighter, and it’s really gorgeous on the skin. It wasn’t too chalky or powdery, in my opinion, and even my boyfriend noted that my highlight was “on fleek” that day. Ha!

Overall thoughts so far: I am really loving this palette.I’m wanting to play around with it more and film a tutorial using it, so if you have any suggestions, throw them my way! I think that for the price you’re getting a lot from this palette, even if you can’t use every shade like myself. Even with the shades that I probably won’t use, I feel like I am getting well beyond my money’s worth with this palette based on the quality of the shades I will use and love often, and the packaging.

What are your thoughts on this palette if you have it? If you don’t have it, will you be ordering it? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments!

I hope you all enjoyed this week’s swatch saturday post! I always love reviewing and swatching new palettes.

Have a good weekend, lovelies.

Review + Look: Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter Stack

IMG_4409

Some people get their partners chocolates and flowers for Valentine’s Day, mine got me makeup…and flowers. I’ve been legitimately lusting over the Melt Cosmetics stacks since they came out. They’re just so perfect and right up my alley. Matte, grungy, cruelty free…and expensive. Everything I love is so expensive it seems. So, Jeremy told me to order it a few weeks ago, and I was ecstatic!

I have never stalked a tracking code so hard. Okay, that’s a bit of a lie…but I was very excited.
Let me first say that the shipping was super quick! It took about 2 days to arrive at my door, and it came in a cute black box that was very well protected.

IMG_4410

If you’re not familiar with Melt Cosmetics, they’re mostly known for their matte lipsticks, it seems. However, they came out with these eyeshadow “stacks” that seem to have taken the instagram world by storm. I’ve seen them everywhere, and it’s made it hard to get them out of my mind. The stack itself is composed of 4 shadows that are magnatized, and the top is a mirror, which I found pretty nifty.

The shades include Blurr, Unseen, Enigma, and Dark Matter. There is another stack called the “Lovesick” stack, but it’s not exactly my style. I wanted the grungier stack.

Price $48 at meltcosmetics.com

About the formula These are extremely matte shadows. When I swatched them I noticed they are so matte they seem a bit dry and patchy, and that concerned me. However, once I applied them to my eyelids I noticed these are very easy to blend and super pigmented. I have never worked with matte shadows as pigmented as these that are also easy to blend. Sometimes with matte shadows if you try to build them up the look appears chalky and it becomes harder to blend…I didn’t have that problem with these.

How they wear They wear very well and did not budge on me. They didn’t smear or look dry after a few hours. All around amazing in terms of how they wear. I do try out all shadows with a primer, because that’s how I always wear my eyeshadow.

Any Tips? If you have dry eyelids like me, you may want to use a creamier base like a concealer and top it off with a bit of setting powder. The setting powder will make it easier to blend out the colors. I also moisturize my eyelids every morning as well…because I was genetically blessed with snake skin lids.

Swatches Like I said before, these shadows are very matte and it was hard to get smooth swatches on my skin.

IMG_4394

From left to right: Blurr, Unseen, Enigma, Dark Matter

Blurr- a very light brown that I think can be used as a perfect crease color, but it’s purpose is supposed to be to “blurr” anything that needs to be blurred in a look since the other colors are so dark.

Unseen- A darker warm brown. I adore this shade. It’s everything I love in warm brown shades. I feel this would be an ideal shade to do cut creases with, which is probably what I will try next.

Enigma- Probably the main reason why I wanted this stack. A rusty red shade. Very “color of the year.” I am obsessed with this color. So pigmented and pretty.

Dark Matter- your standard matte black shadow. This is super black. Like the blackest shadow I have ever owned…and that includes the Kat Von D matte black shadows. If you use this for a smokey eye, be wary and tap your brush or risk turning into a panda. A matte black is always handy in sets like this, in my opinion.

IMG_4458

IMG_4459

This is a look I did using all 4 colors in the stack. I did use “blurr” to blur out the outside and smooth any harsh lines out, and it did just that!

Overall I absolutely adore this stack. From the packaging concept to the colors themselves…I am so happy that I finally own this. I’m a grungy girl at heart that loves a great smokey eye, and this stack has everything I need to do that without having to reach for multiple single shadows and palettes.

If you own this, tell me your thoughts on it? Link me to your reviews and looks?

Review and Swatches: Kat Von D Innerstellar Palette

As I have said a few times on my blog before, Kat Von D makes some damn great makeup. Expensive, but high quality and very unique. When my boyfriend told me he bought me the Innerstellar (limited edition palette fyi) palette I nearly fainted and squealed. I own some lip products and a foundation by Kat Von D, but I do not own any of her eyeshadow palettes. Sad, I know.

So, this review is very exciting for me. I’m going to quit rambling though and get to the point.

First, this palette is a Sephora exclusive and can be bought on sephora.com or it’s in stores.
It’s $46, so it is high end, but still a few bucks cheaper than the Urban Decay palettes.
This is a cool toned palette. If cool tones do not flatter you or are not your thing, this palette might not be for you.

I wear a lot of cool toned lipsticks and blushes since I am extremely pale and my skin undertones are naturally pink rather than beige. So, cool tones flatter my eyes and skin a great deal. Don’t get me wrong, I love warmer toned eyeshadows (also apparent on my blog) but I’ve been wanting something different since everyone seems to be on this warm tone kick right now. Personally, I needed to switch it up a bit.

IMG_3506

The packaging is a thick black cardboard material with a pretty big mirror on the inside, which I also like. It’s pretty big, but I feel it is still a very travel friendly palette. The reason why it’s a bit bigger is because the 3 bigger eyeshadows are 2.3 grams and the 9 smaller shadows are 1.1 grams. That’s a pretty decent amount of product, in my opinion.

IMG_3507

There are 3 bigger shades at the top, and I am assuming they’re bigger than the rest because these are typical “staple” shades that are used often universally. Whether as a base or as a highlight, these 3 shades are the ones many reach for to create many different looks. Because let’s be real, how many of us have hit pan very quickly in our Naked palettes with those smooth and precious little matte highlighting shades and thought, “Why?? I need you!”

Something else I look for in a palette is “is this thing versatile?” Meaning, can I create entire looks using only this palette? That’s actually a problem with me regarding most palettes. Many palettes lack something whether it’s a strong set of mattes, a transition shade, or the perfect highlighting shade or lack a matte black to take a look from daytime glam to “hey baby look at me.”

I have found that this palette passes the versatility test for me! There’s a transition shade, perfect highlighting shades, crease shades, a matte black, and little pops of color to create a ton of different and beautiful looks. I have tried a few things already with this palette, and I will show a few looks at the end of this post.

As for quality and pigmentation, Kat Von D brought her A game. I speak about her like we’re bff’s (I wish) but I’m being totally honest, you all. This palette is beautiful and the pigmentation is intense with every color. The shadows themselves are very smooth and buttery, and it doesn’t take a lot on your brush to get great results from the product. Every swatch I have done is without primer so you all can get a good idea of what the shadows look like.
As usual, I am sorry the lighter shades don’t show up very well on my moon tanned skin. Just take my word that they are pigmented. 😉

IMG_3647

These are the 3 bigger shades from the wrist down: Lycan (matte white), Vast (satin taupe), Gravitron (shimmery light pink)

IMG_3648

First 5 shades from the bottom up: Killing Moon (matte plum beige), Moonshine (shimmery gray), 3 am (dark purple), Orion (shimmery lavender), Darkstar (darker gunmetal gray)

IMG_3649

Last 4 shades from bottom up: Astrological (matte darker brown), Lunacy (satin taupe), Dios (very shimmery silver shade), Night Crawler (matte black)

Can we just take a second to admire the unique names Kat Von D has for everything? I love them. I know they weird some people out, but the eternal gothish-punk and horror fan in me loves it.

Would I recommend this palette to others? Absolutely. If you’re going back and forth between palettes if you’re still holding on to gift cards, my pick would be this one. Not just because it’s a great quality palette, but it’s also limited edition. I don’t always get my hands on limited edition makeup items very often, so I do cherish this one quite a bit.

Is it okay to call palettes babies? This is currently my baby.

Okay, I had my weird moment and now to show a few looks I have done using this palette and this palette alone.

BH Cosmetics Dark Rose Palette

IMG_3088

This was actually a cyber Monday treat that just arrived in the mail today. BH Cosmetics was having a sale where this palette was $8.95 + I found a 10% off code and I got back 15% through ebates. This is a limited edition palette, so when I was able to get it for that price I was very happy! I love BH Cosmetics to begin with, and everything about this palette is so alluring to me. The colors and the packaging…it looked perfect.

IMG_3090

Shipping was a bit delayed for BH Cosmetics, but they did say on the website before ordering that shipping could be delayed, and that was fine. However, when this came in the mail I seriously opened it up before anything else and immediately started admiring it and playing around with it. The inside is so beautiful! This palette is pretty big, and there’s a pretty decent amount of product in it. There are 12 eyeshadow colors, 3 blushes, and 1 liquid eyeliner that come in this set. I was excited that this came with a liquid felt tip liner instead of a pencil. I tend to just throw pencils away or gift them. I’m a liquid/gel liner kind of gal.

IMG_3091

These are swatches of all 12 eyeshadows. The glittery ones aren’t as pigmented, but for the most part they are all very smooth and pigmented! Very impressed with the quality of these shadows. I’ve had my eye on this palette since it came out, but didn’t buy it in fear that the colors might have been too random. However, once I saw the review that Dani from CoffeebreakwithDani did and the look she created I was sold, and from there I knew that it would go on sale. EVERYTHING on BH Cosmetics eventually goes on sale for 50% off or more…just wait. That’s my friendly brand tip of the day.

Anyway, once I started playing around with these colors on my eyes (one look for one eye and another on the other eye, duh) I realized all of these colors truly do compliment each other, strangely enough. I absolutely love the brown shades and plum shades in this palette.

IMG_3092

These are the swatches of the 3 blushes that come in the palette. I love that there are both warm and cool options in terms of blushes. I wear cool toned blushes myself most days, so the third mauve type color will probably be the one that gets the most usage from me!

IMG_3105
This is a look I created using the palette. The only color I didn’t use from the palette was the tranisition shade which was “creme brulee” by makeup geek. That’s my only con to this palette…there’s not a true transition shade unless you lightly use one of the matte shades as one. Anyway, I used the shimmery champagne shade all over the lid and on my brow bone as a highlight, the darker matte brown in the crease well blended and the shimmery dark brown shade in the outer v blended into the crease as well. I used the matte purple shade on the bottom lash line as a “pop” of color to the look. I have the matte mauve shade on my cheeks (it’s not very pigmented) and I used the liquid eyeliner to create a cat wing. It was very easy to use, surprisingly. Overall, I’m very happy with this palette and can’t wait to play around with it some more 😀

Halloween Clearance Find: Elf Beauty Books

The only thing that cheers me up after Halloween ends is the clearance shopping. The candy, the cute kid things…I am all about it. Typically I go after candy and things to prepare for next year, but I stumbled on a few of the Elf Halloween Beauty Books on an end cap for 50% off. I already own the Vampire one, and I love it. I actually just used it for the first time on Halloween to give my mom a glamorous witch makeup look, and I was incredibly impressed by the pigmentation of the shadows. I tried to use the false lashes, but I have never been a huge fan of the elf brand false lashes. They seem flimsy and hard to work with for me, but I have read where they do work for many others. So, I just wanted to go over them and do swatches and give my insight in case anyone has a Target nearby (where I found them) and can possibly score these as well. There were not many left when I got to my closest Target at 5 pm, so if you want some I would run to Target.

First, these were normally $6 before Halloween. My local Target had all of their Halloween things for 50% off, making these $3 per book! I was able to snag Diva and Enchanted, but I am sad that I couldn’t find Wicked anywhere, because then I would have all 4 of them since I already have the Vampire book. I think these are sooo pretty. They are not thin and sleek at all, but pretty none the less.

This is the Diva book. This one is my favorite of the two I found. The colors in this book are so buttery and soft. The lighter shades are a bit chalky and didn’t come up very well in the swatches, but I am also super pale and I did not use primer to swatch them. The gloss this one comes with is a fuchsia colored gloss, but I am not a lip gloss fan at all so I will probably be passing that on to a friend.

This one is the Enchanted book, and while it is not my favorite, the colors are pretty. They’re just not colors that I use very often. Blues don’t typically work well with my eye color, but for $3 I will play around with them a bit. As you can probably tell by the swatches, some of the colors are kind of chalky and patchy. I don’t know how they will look with a primer though. The lip gloss color in this one is a very peachy-pink nude color.

Since I will probably be giving the lashes and gloss away, I am still very happy with these finds. The eyeshadows in both books are very pretty. I may try to go to another Target and find the Wicked book so I can have all of them. My personal favorite is the Diva book, and as mentioned earlier the Vampire book is so amazing. If you come across it, get it. Don’t even think about it…thank me later.

I just watched a video by KathleenLights on youtube saying that the little (usually useless) eyeshadow applicators can be used for ColourPop eyeshadows and work BETTER than your fingers! Mind. Blown.
If you have no idea what I am talking about, please check out ColourPop. I have a review on my blog on their eyeshadows.
Other things I found clearance shopping: a cupcake costume for Piper next year. Cheap costumes for Harmony’s dress up wardrobe, and candy for me.
Anyone else find some amazing Halloween clearance items? Tell me! I love hearing about bargains 😀
