Ipsy Unbagging: May 2015

ipsy april

Hello, Jetsetters

I have an Ipsy unbagging for you all today, and yes, the theme is “Jetsetters” for the month. Remember when I said that last month’s bag was my all time favorite? I changed my mind, this is my new favorite bag. Seriously look at how freakin’ cute it is. There were several bags that were given out, and from what I’ve seen they’re all cute.

Anyway, if you’re new here a quick description of Ipsy is that it’s a beauty subscription that arrives at your doorstep once a month, and costs $10 per month. Each person takes a beauty quiz of sorts and is given 4-5 full sized or deluxe sample sized beauty items based on that quiz. There’s typically a pretty good mixture of high end and indie/non mainstream brands, especially lately it seems. I really feel that the Ipsy has stepped their game up and they are sending out some incredible things, or at least in my opinion they are.

bellapiere gel liner

The first thing I want to share from my bag is this BellaPierre gel liner. I wasn’t too thrilled about getting another liner, because I have about 10 that I need to use up from other beauty services…but then I swatched this one. I swatched it and it didn’t budge. I washed dishes, rubbed it with my hands…everything. It’s also very very creamy and smooth. I have a feeling that with allergy season upon us this liner may be my new best friend. Because there’s nothing better than being halfway through your day and having an intense sneeze fit and suddenly looking like a sad raccoon.

IMG_6657

Okay, I will admit that I squealed a bit when I saw this in my glamroom. I’m a lip product junkie, I know it. I embrace it. Or rather, my lip products are always embracing my lips in some way (ha!). In my bag this month I got a mini pencil (still a good amount of product) of Urban Decay’s 24/7 lip priming pencil. This pencil from what I gathered is supposed to prime and blur out imperfections on the lips. I have a feeling this will come in handy now that I have an HD camera and every little line can now be seen on my lips. I also got two little lipgloss samples in “Failbait” and “Bittersweet.” I’m normally not a fan of samples like these because I never use them, but Urban Decay is one of my favorite brands so chances are these will be used. I’m honestly dying to try that purple gloss out sometime soon.

IMG_6658

This was the other thing I was most excited about this month. I received a Luxie tapered blending eye brush, and I die over anything and everything rose gold. I actually ordered the Luxie angled face brush when they had a sale on it and I use that brush constantly for blush and it’s probably my prettiest brush I own. So, I was naturally excited to see I was going to be adding a new little rose gold pretty to my collection. Blending brushes are something I never seem to have enough of.

IMG_6659

Last, but not least, I received a deluxe sample of the Briogeo leave in conditioning spray and a sample of the Amie morning-dew mattifying moisturizer. I use leave in conditioners CONSTANTLY on my hair since I have naturally coarse and frizzy hair, so the spray I’m pretty excited about. I typically don’t use hair samples (I forget to, oops) but that one I will use.

I’m happy about the moisturizer, just not too sure how it’s going to be on my skin yet. A “dew” mattifying moisturizer seems like a bit of an oxymoron to me, but I will try it at some point.

Overall, I’m really happy with this month’s Ipsy bag! I feel that their sample game has been strong the past few months. If you’re subscribed to Ipsy, what did you get in your bag? Are you happy with it? Comment your thoughts or link me to your blog posts ❤

I have no idea if I should start doing “follow up” posts with my subscription bags, so if that’s something that would interest you, feel free to tell me! Or maybe I should make the follow up a video with a look put together with some of my favorite things received? I have no idea, ha!

As always, thank you for reading, and I hope that if you’re new to my blog you will decide to stay and follow me for a wee bit!

Swatch Saturday: La Girl Creme Lipsticks

la girl luxury creme lipstick

Hey beauties,

I feel like I haven’t done a Swatch Saturday post in ages. Okay, maybe like two weeks, but I really love doing swatch posts! Especially when lipstick is involved. Well, if lipstick is involved, I’m probably down. Today I’m going to be swatching 4 lipsticks that I don’t believe I have talked much about, and that’s the LA Girl creme lipsticks.

Everyone has been so obsessed with liquid and matte lipsticks (myself included) that I wanted to look in my collection and pull out some creamy lipsticks. Matte lipsticks aren’t for everyone, and even though I adore a great matte finish, I do like a nice moisturizing lipstick finish as well.

If you don’t know about LA Girl, they’re a brand that can be bought online at http://www.lagirlusa.com or can sometimes be found in select drugstores and Five Below stores. They are cruelty free, and very affordable.

They sell quite a few lipsticks, including liquid lipsticks, but I don’t see much on their Luxury Creme lipstick line. So, I’m going to swatch and talk about the 4 I have in my collection.

There are 24 shades in all that range from light nudes, red, and a black. I do love the range that LA Girl has in these lipsticks and I feel there is something for just about everyone.

Price: $4

Consistency: These are very creamy and hydrating.

Application: I personally like to apply these straight on the lips and then take a lip brush to evenly apply it the rest of the way. These pair best with lip liners because they are very creamy and therefore a bit slippery. I find that liners help my lipstick to “stick” and not get on my teeth as much. That and liners prevent the weird feathering thing that can happen with non-matte lipsticks.

Finish: As I’ve said possibly a million times, these are not matte, but they’re not too super glossy either. I like that about them. They’re kind of a happy medium, in my opinion.

Pigmentation: With all of the ones I swatched for this post I had no problems with the pigmentation. They went on smoothly and with no patchiness.

Packaging: I’m not a fan of the packaging. The packaging is a bit cheap (okay, very cheap) and a little flimsy. However, I will say that because the product inside is so good I can forgive cheap packaging. I can tell that LA Girl kind of sacrificed nice packaging for a great lipstick, and that’s okay in my book. I can respect that. If you’re a packaging snob (no judgement here, I am myself at times) then the packaging may bug you a bit too much with these.

Staying Power: Because these have a creamy texture and finish, you’re probably gonna have to reapply them throughout the day, especially if you eat and drink with it on.

Smell: I found that these don’t really have a smell, which is fine in my book.

Worth a try? In my opinion, yes. I really like LA Girl as a brand, and I think these are nice lipsticks to try out if you want to try pinks or reds, but don’t want to drop a ton of money on a higher end brand. The only things that bug me with these are the packaging because I end up getting lipstick all over the tube every time I apply one. That and if you rip the little sticker off completely you suddenly don’t know the name of the lipstick you’re putting on. That’s also annoying. Other than that, I really love the way these feel on the lips. Because there is shea butter and vitamin e in them they are very hydrating. Perfect to throw in your purse on a nice Spring or Summer day.

Swatches:

la girl amour

Amour: A very “nude” lipstick that looks almost brown on my skin tone. I did conceal my lips before these swatches so I could show you all the true color. I really like this color. It pairs well with “nude truffle” lip liner by Nyx. I know that not everyone is into the brown-nude thing right now, but I am. It’s my way of being “bold” at times without wearing a bright or odd colored lipstick.

IMG_6613

Be Mine: A very brown lipstick with just a tinge of red in it. I know this color can be intimidating for people with fair skin, but I happen to love this color. It has a very “marsala” tone to it, and pairs well with a warm and matte eye look.

IMG_6616

Promise: This is probably my favorite out of the 4 I own. It looks a wee bit different on my lips than it does swatched on my arm. It’s more of a plummy-berry color that’s bold, but not overpowering.

IMG_6617

Last Night: This is a shade I would probably never purchase myself, but I actually got it in my Lip Monthly bag last month. I quite like it now that I’ve tried it on. It’s pretty intimidating inside of the tube, but on the lips it’s a nice deep pink color. Still bright, but wearable if you’re afraid of pinks like I am.

Arm Swatches:

From the wrist down: Last Night, Promise, Be Mine, Armour

That’s it for today’s swatch Saturday post 🙂

Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush & Glow Trios

wet n wild silver lake

Hey Beauties,

Today I have more things to review and swatch! I feel like that’s what most of my posts have been lately, but the Summer collections are starting to hit drugstores and the products obviously just want to come home and live with me. So, they magically end up in my hands and before I know it I’m paying for them and walking out the door. Makeup trance, I swear.

Anyway, I’m pretty excited to be reviewing these because I have noticed online that they are starting to pop up in more stores. When I saw the display for these I noticed there are 3 trio palettes in all. I did not pick up the third one simply because every shade in it was way too dark for my skin tone.

IMG_6496

I did pick up the other two in “Fair Trade Coffee” and “Sunset Junction” though. These were $3.99 each at my local Walgreens, or $1.33 per shade since there are 3 shades in each palette. There are 12 grams of product in each of these, so I for sure got my money’s worth in terms of amount of product vs. the price, which is something I personally consider when buying limited edition items.

Something I struggle with when it comes to limited edition items is that I don’t want to buy something and not use it, or feel afraid to love it and use it too quickly. I’m sure any makeup collector/enthusiast has felt this struggle at some point or another. However, when companies put a lot of product in a limited edition item it gives me a bit more room to fall in potential love with it, and makes me more likely to purchase it.

Each trio has a bronzer, highlight, and blush. There’s no separation between each product in the pan, so I’m not sure if that’s going to be a problem in the future.

IMG_6495

On the left is Sunset Junction and the right is Fair Trade Coffee.

Swatches:

wet n wild fair trade coffee

These are swatches from “Fair Trade Coffee.” Odd name, but I really love the blush and highlight in this one. The blush is very pigmented and is a pretty dark pink color. I love pink blushes on every skin tone. I feel this shade of blush is one that many skin tones can wear and either lightly apply it or pack it on. The bronze shade is way too orange for my skin tone, but I could probably use it as a crease shade if I’m in a pinch. If not, I still love this trio and I’m very happy with it. I’ve worn the highlight a few times and it’s super pretty and fairly subtle, yet glamorous at the same time. It has a bit of sparkle to it, which is something to keep in mind. I like a bit of sparkle in my highlight though. I like to shine bright like a diamond.

wet n wild sunset junction

These are swatches from “Sunset Junction.” Once again, I would not be able to get away with that bronzer, but the other two shades are so lovely. I have been using the blush and highlight from this trio often since I’ve picked it up. The blush is pigmented and is a pretty light pink, and paired with the highlight it gives my skin a very radiant and healthy glow, which is something I need taking care of two small kids everyday. Fake it till you make it, right?

Overall: I’m impressed and happy with these. For $3.99 each I feel these are awesome little trios for Spring and Summer. The colors are pigmented, and they are smooth and easy to blend out. The bronzers are super orange, which is disappointing, but I would totally buy these again and I don’t regret this purchase. Even if you’re not a fan of sparkly highlighters, you could probably use them on the eyes as a nice shimmery shade with the bronze shade in the crease, because the blushes in these trios are awesome.

Anyway, I’ve been very impressed with almost everything Wet n Wild has released the past few months and I can’t wait to see what else they have in store!

If you have these, let me know what you think of them!
Will you be picking up anything else from the Silver Lake collection or any of their newer products?

The Mushy Mother’s Day Post

Hey loves,

Prepare for tons of mush and love in this post. It’s Mother’s Day, so naturally I want to post about my own mom because she is a huge part of my life.

I know everyone is going to be posting that their mom is the best. I could go that route, or I could just talk about her.

I could talk about how she was 16 when she gave birth to me, and how she has literally proved every single statistic regarding teenage moms wrong. I could talk about how she had 3 kids (me and my twin brothers) by the age of 19, and also rocked the absolute shit out of that life. I could talk about how she took my older brother in as her own when he was 14, and it was as if she had known and loved him all of her life.

My mom has been my rock since I was a child. When I was 5, I was diagnosed with asthma. It came with a weak immune system and lots of teasing thanks to my new permanent dark circles and wheezy breathing. When I would say I was feeling down or sick, my mom never questioned it. She always listened to me and made me feel validated. That actually saved my life a few times.

Oh, my teenage years were a bit rough though. I dealt with a lot of loss and weird typical teenage emotions, and my relationship with my mom was rough at times. As it is with many teenagers. However, we were still so close. I still went to her for everything. I still trusted her to validate my feelings and listen to me and even be my crying shoulder. A few times I had to be there for her when she had her hysterectomy. I had to be there for her as we were all at a loss of how to comfort my dad after my granny died, and a dark cloud kind of stayed over our house for a year.

My mom has always been my greatest support. When all of my friends were mad and doubted me when I started dating Jeremy, my mom admitted to having concerns, but always supported me. When I made the decision to move out, she expressed her concerns, but still helped me move out.

When I told her I was pregnant the first time, she cried. First out of shock, then out of joy. She was there for me every step of the way. She never once told me that I couldn’t have a natural birth. She never once tried to discourage me from breastfeeding because she didn’t do it with me. When I told her that I had been diagnosed with preeclampsia, she dropped everything just to be by my side. And I know now after having my own kids, that even though she looked and acted so strong for me, she was just as scared as me on the inside.

My mom has helped me pick up my life and move 3 times. She has listened to me and cry and vent.

She drove me to the birthing center when I went into labor with Piper, and even now I don’t know how she stayed so calm because I was legitimately howling all the way there. She held my hand and listened to me. She tried to soothe me and never once made me feel like I couldn’t have the un-medicated birthing experience I wanted, and I still believe she had so much to do with my own confidence. She knew what I wanted and never told me that I couldn’t achieve what I wanted.

That’s how I feel all parents should be. That’s what I strive to be as a mother myself. My mom is my parenting goal. I’ve never met anyone that can love anyone and everyone unconditionally, and yet still stand firm ground when it comes to her own boundaries. Sometimes I watch her gracefully deal with people and it’s almost unreal. The strongest woman I know.

She’s witnessed both of my girls being brought earth side. She has consistently been my little village and is always willing to give me a short break to grab coffee and collect my thoughts. She has never given me or Jeremy an empty promise.

She’s the voice that tells pessimistic, perfectionist me that “we will work something out.” She is constantly the calming voice in my raging storm of eternal doubt.

She is the one person I go to because she is the most non judgmental person I know. That woman wouldn’t hold a grudge with a fly if the fly displayed a bit of kindness. She is always willing to see the good in people, and is constantly giving to others.

There’s a huge part of me that wishes everyone that encountered my mom would show her the gratitude she deserves, but I also realize that it would take me a few lifetimes to do that myself. Because nothing beats a mom that’s also your best friend. Nothing beats a mom that believes in you, no matter how silly your dreams are to others.

My mom never discouraged me from doing what I wanted, no matter what it was or is even now. I feel that is so important, especially when raising girls and is something I will cherish as I raise my daughters. She never questioned me putting on lipgloss before a soccer game. She never questioned me putting on mascara before a science bowl or talking about Latin and makeup at the exact same time. She never told me that my love for surrealism and abstract art would get in the way of me playing sports. She never told me that my asthma would hinder me. She was just…there. Even when I met an obstacle, she helped me overcome it. She allowed me to learn and make mistakes and learn from those. My mom had a seemingly perfect balance of wanting to protect all of the time, but also wanted me to learn from my own mistakes and make mistakes.

No one beats my mom in my book.

The relationship I have with my mom is one that I will cherish for my entire life. It’s one that I crave to have with my own daughters. I know so many talk about how we should always appreciate our mothers and not just one day out of the year, and trust me, I try. I could thank my mom every damn day of the year and it would never be enough. The impact she has made in my life from the very start has been so loving and so incredible, and it would take me several lifetimes to even express a tiny bit of my gratitude. She knows I’m not always great with speaking.

I used to write my mom letters with how I was feeling when I was little. I would write the letter and quietly slip it under her door. I’m trying to view this post as just a big, virtual letter for her and everyone to see.

Because my mom deserves so much. I could go on forever about how she has worked for everything she has and continues to strive for more. She is constantly learning and trying to do better and be better in life, and that is something that inspires me on a daily basis.

My mom means the entire world to me, and I just wanted to take a few minutes today to express that to you all.

And Mother’s Day shouldn’t just be about biological mothers, it should be about anyone that you have felt was your guardian in some way. I just happen to call the best guardian anyone can have my mom.

So, I just want to say thanks to all of the guardians out there that truly know what unconditional love is. To those that are selfless and kind and have been there for others.

Happy Mother’s Day to you all. You are all so beautiful and important.

Wet n Wild Lunch in Sao Paulo Palette

wet n wild lunch in sao paulo

Hey lovelies,

So, I was trying to find the California Roll palette from the Silver Lake collection only to discover that most of the Walgreens in my area have started to take the displays down. I was a wee bit crushed. However, Kaily from Someday Sunny must have felt my pain states away and found one and is sending it to me! Seriously, that made my whole day.

The point of me mentioning that is because even though I couldn’t find anymore Silver Lake palettes, I did find a display with a new Limited Edition Wet n Wild palette!

If you’ve read my reviews on the Paris Runway and Milano palettes knows that I think the quality of these palettes are awesome for drugstore eyeshadow palettes. If you’re looking for a cruelty free and affordable palette, I do reccomend them.

With that being said, to avoid repeating myself I’m just going to share photos and swatches and my thoughts on how this compares to the other two.

IMG_6493

Price: $7.99, same as the others

Permanent? Nope, this is one of the limited edition items from Wet n Wild that will be popping up over Spring and into Summer. So, if you see it and want it, snag it.

Colors: This palette has a few very bright and colorful shades and some neutral shades. There are no matte shades in this one, so you may need to use some from other palettes if you’re like me and enjoy matte transition shades, but overall the colors are very pretty and I feel there’s a decent amount of diversity.

Quality: The quality is the same as the other two, in my opinion. Very easy to swatch, and the colors feel very nice. A few of the colors were very slightly powdery, but nothing too bad. I do feel that in terms of drugstore quality, these are awesome shadows.

This palette comes with the brush just like the other two did. It’s not my personal favorite brush, but it works if you’re in a pinch, or if you’re just starting out with makeup.

Swatches:

IMG_6498

These swatches are done with no primer underneath. The color payoff was really nice. The yellow-ish color I had to work a bit with, but I typically do with all lighter shades because my skin is so fair. I’m dying over that greenish-teal color though. I really want to play with that one.

IMG_6492

Overall thoughts: Ah, I’ve been sucked into the “limited edition” trap once more. However, this one I am very happy with, and I’m already planning out a possible “get ready with me” video using it! It’s probably obvious by now that Wet n Wild is one of my favorite drugstore brands.

I don’t know if I like this palette more than the Milano one, but I do like it more than the Paris Runway palette. I don’t like that it lacks mattes, but the pretty colors kind of make up for it I suppose. The closest thing to a matte is the teal shade, but even then it still has a bit of sparkle in it. However, if you did some blending you could probably blend the sparkle away. Only do that with shadows, don’t blend your real life sparkle away 😉

I do have some more limited edition goodies from Wet n Wild to review soon, so stayed tuned! If you’re new here, stay awhile if you want!

What are your thoughts on this palette?? Will you be picking it up?

Too Faced Natural Matte Palette

too faced natural matte

Hey lovelies,

Today, I have another palette review! This is going to be about the relatively new Too Faced Natural Eyes Matte palette. Not to be mistaken with their original Natural Eyes palette (one of my personal favorites).

This palette is $36 on http://www.toofaced.com or on sephora.com, but I actually snagged this for 20% using a code from Ipsy. There are two new palettes right now on Too Faced, a matte one and a colorful one. You all know how much I love matte shadows…and neutrals, so yeah, I needed this one.

IMG_6320

too faced natural matte

First off, there are 9 shades in this palette. There are a couple of repeat shades from the original, but I don’t mind. The repeat shades are Heaven, Garter Belt, Sexpresso, and Nudie. I love those shades in the original, so I honestly don’t mind having duplicates of them. However, if that bugs you keep it in mind if you’re debating on getting this.

IMG_6319

This is the side by side comparison. Even though there are duplicate shades, these palettes are very different outside of the fact that the original has shimmer shades.

The shades that drew me in and basically seduced me were “chocolate cookie” and “honey butter.” Those shades just looked so damn pretty to me.

I do feel there is a good balance of warm and cooler shades in this palette.

The shadows did kick up a bit when I first tried them (mostly chocolate cookie) but it wasn’t too bad. The colors are still very blendable and buttery.

In terms of pigmentation, these are pretty pigmented, but maybe not as pigmented as my Kat Von D Shade + Light eye palette. I have a feeling I may be comparing every palette I buy this year to that one.

If I had to choose between the two for life threatening reasons, I would go with the Kat Von D one. Unless you’re a collector or just really freakin’ love palettes, you probably won’t need bother. Too Faced is my second favorite brand of all time though, so I wanted it for obvious personal reasons.

Hey, this is a non judging zone.

IMG_6290

Left to right: heaven, cashmere bunny, sexpresso, lace teddy, strapless, risque, nudie, honey butter, chocolate cookie

I did these swatches over no primer.

Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase and I don’t feel it’s a redundant thing for me to have, even though I already own the original. I feel the colors blend easily and look beautiful over primed eyelids. Chocolate cookie and Honey Butter are everything, in my opinion. I really love those two colors. This packaging is also very travel friendly.

Attached is a first impression with me using the shadows and a matte brown smokey eye tutorial 🙂
Enjoy, and subscribe to my channel if you want to!

I hope you all liked this post, and thanks for reading.

Face of the Day: Warm Smokey Eye

IMG_6397

Hey lovelies,

Time for a face of the day post 🙂
I’m trying to do these posts 1-2 times a week. I have fun with them, and I do seem to receive great feedback when I do them.

Anyway, today I’m having a typical “me” day. I sat down thinking I was going to do something simple and light and finished with a smokey eye. Oops.

I used a few colors from my Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter Stack and a few from my Kat Von D Shade + Light eye palette. I used “blurr” and “unseen” from the dark matter stack, and then used a few brown shades, the burgundy shade, and a little bit of black from the Shade Light.

IMG_6409

My face today is Nars All Day Luminous, and now that I have figured out how to make this work on my dry skin I absolutely adore it. It did take me a bit to figure out how to make it work on my skin though.

For contouring I laid down a cream contour with my Nyx wonder stick in “light” and set that with the cool brown shade in my Wet n Wild contour palette (mine is dulce de leche). For blush and highlight I went with the new Wet n Wild Silver Lake trio in “sunset junction.” I have a review of these coming up, but let me just say that I am obsessed with the highlighting shade in this trio so far. It is shimmery and slightly pink and flatters my skin tone…I would’ve paid the $4 just for that highlight. #truelove

IMG_6408

IMG_6411

On my brows is the Ofra cosmetics “universal” eyebrow pencil set with Nyx’s tinted brow mascara in “black.” Yes, I know one of my brows is looking a bit odd…I’m trying to let them grow out a bit so I can reshape them. It’s driving me bonkers.

I put on a coat of a new (not in stores yet) mascara by Covergirl, and my lashes are Kiss lashes #11. My liner is my physicians formula eye booster in ultra black as usual, and my water line is Nyx Tres Jolie gel liner.

Bottom lash line is smoked out into an oblivion using the same colors on my top lid.

IMG_6404

Originally, I had gray lips and I didn’t like how it looked. So, I changed it to “Melted Chihuahua” by Too Faced. I didn’t want to get this color because the name freaks me out, but I swatched it in Ulta and needed it. I guess it’s okay since no chihuahuas were actually melted in the making of this lipstick.

Oh, and I have a new septum clicker 🙂 Yes, my baby loves to try and pull on it. Mom life.

That’s about it for today’s face of the day! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Wet n Wild Silver Lake Collection

wet n wild silver lake

Hey lovelies,

Today I have a review with swatches of my palettes from the Wet n Wild Silver Lake Collection. I know these have been floating around for a bit, and I will admit to being skeptical at first. I find that with wet n wild shadows, they can be kind of hit and miss in terms of quality. However, I saw a few bloggers I follow talk about how awesome these were…and they’re limited edition. What is it about Limited Edition makeup that makes me buy it? You could put glittery baby turds in a container and put “limited edition” on it and I would buy it. Okay, maybe not, but I would definitely consider it.

Anyway, these little palettes have 6 shades per palette and are $3.99 each. That in itself is incredible! I feel that these are exclusive to Walgreens, or at least that is the only place I have seen displays for them at.

I have 3 palettes from the collection to share today, but there are 5 total palettes in the collection. California Roll is the other one that I want terribly, but I’m still looking for it. That seems to be the most popular one.

IMG_6316

Since this one is the one I’ve had the longest, I will start with it. This is “Thrift Store Chic” and I bought it mostly for the name, because thrift store chic is actually my lifestyle. This is a very cute and flirty palette with mostly pinks. I will admit that the glitter shades in this one are kind of lacking, but I use elf’s glitter primer with them and they end up looking beautiful! I really love the last shade in this. I don’t really have a shade like it in my collection, so that alone made this one worth it. I adore the last shade in this palette though, and it made the purchase worth it. I’ve been trying to add more colorful palettes into my collection because I really need to venture outside of the neutral zone.

IMG_6281

IMG_6315

This little pal is called “Vegan Culture” and is most definitely way out of my comfort zone. I don’t wear a lot of blues because I feel it clashes with my green eyes, but I REALLY love the mint shades in this palette. The silver is also super pretty. The shimmery white shade is also lovely and would be the perfect inner corner shade. This palette is totally the perfect spring/summer palette for those in need of something fun! All of the colors in this one swatched beautifully, and are super buttery. The pigmentation is awesome with these, as you can probably tell by how much my tattoo is covered by the last few swatches. I can’t get over how lovely those minty green shades are.

The last one I have to show is “Vinyl Collection.” This one is very very neutral. I obviously needed another neutral palette…but it’s limited edition. It’s justified in my mind. I do like this palette and the quality is the same as Vegan Culture. My personal favorites in this one are the matte shade (perfect transition shade for my fair skin) and the dark khaki green shade. It’s so gorgeous, and I feel it has just enough brown in it for me to pull it off. If you’re in need of an everyday neutral palette with a twist, look into this one. It’s just a nice one to add to the collection, in my opinion.

Overall, I am very impressed with these shadows. A few (namely the glitter shades) are a bit lacking, but it’s not horrible. I feel these are worth the $4 each and if you can find them all, pick them up! I have no idea when these will be taken off the shelves, but I do know more limited edition items are starting to hit the shelves as well *winks*

Like I mentioned before, there are 5 palettes total in this collection and you may need to hit up a few different Walgreens in your area to find them all. Every display I have seen only has 1-2 of each palette and usually 2-4 are sold out. Frustrating to say the least. If I do find the other two I will pick them up and create a separate post with swatches!

I will definitely be playing with these more and I’m thinking about using them to create a minty Spring/Summer look!
So, if you’re new here and you’re interested in seeing looks, make sure to stick around if you want! It’s free! 😉

As always, thank you for reading and I hope you are all having lovely nights.

Friday Style

Hey lovelies,

Today’s post is going to be a short and sweet one…and different!
I was going through my closet and it hit me that I have rarely posted about my personal style.

I have mentioned that I love band tees, grunge fashion, and secondhand finds, but not a lot outside of that.
Truth is, I don’t have a set “style.” I wear whatever I feel like wearing that day. I have very girly pieces, vintage pieces, and a ton of graphic and band tees.

So, today I just wanted to share some pieces that I love in my closet that are not particulary your classic “staple pieces.” Just things that I love. I hope you all enjoy it, and if you would like more fashion related posts just let me know!

Probably the things I wear the most: band tees and tanks. I like button up tanks because they’re easy for my to undo if I need to nurse Piper, and I love dressing up my band tees with cute collars. The mermaid on pictured is from Salem Couture.

I also love fun and flirty outfits. This came from Rue 21, and I love the absolute snot out of that tulle skirt. It makes me feel like a darker Carrie Bradshaw.

Both of these dresses are thrifted, and they are two of my favorite dresses. They cinch at the waist and I can nurse in them easily. Perfect date night dresses for me.

I also wear skinny jeans and leggings often. The Slayer leggings are from Hot Topic and the dark skinny jeans are from Rue 21. Both tops were thrifted as well as the gold chain necklace.

That’s about it for today’s look into my personal style!

Have a good night 🙂

Lip Monthly April 2015

lip monthly

Hey beauties!

Today I’m back with another unbagging and review! Anyone else have a really odd love for beauty subscriptions? Or just monthly subscriptions in general? I really want to add a coffee service and possibly petit vour (they send only cruelty free and vegan beauty products every month) but we shall see. My boyfriend might oppose 😉

Anyway, if you’re new here *waves frantically* Lip Monthly is a beauty subscription that is $10 a month and sends out 4-5 (lately 4) products that are mostly lipsticks or glosses. So, a lipstick addict’s dream! I’ve been subscribed to them for about 5 months now, and for the most part I like it. Some things that I receive don’t exactly make sense or flatter my skin tone at all, and that’s one of my biggest beefs with this subscription. Everyone receives the same bag. Same products and colors…I don’t understand that, but it is what it is I guess.

This month I got 4 full sized products! The bag is valued at $37.99 which is pretty good considering I only paid $10 for it.

1. Cargo Gloss in “Anguilla” $16 This is in a travel sized tube, but it says there’s the same amount of product as a full sized product. This is a really pretty nude-pink gloss for those that like nude pink glosses. They’re not really my style, but I will try it because it may surprise me. I said the same thing about the butter glosses and now I can’t get enough of those…

2. City Colour Be Matte Lipstick “cammi” $4.99 I’ve actually been wanting to try the lipsticks from this line for awhile now! This color is one that I like as well, so win! It’s a very pretty dark purple shade. We all know how much I love my dark vampy colors…all year round.

3. LA Girl Lipstick “Last Night” $4 I own 3 shades from this line already, and I really like the formula! Very pigmented and creamy. With any creamy lipstick, they kinda get on my teeth, but I’m super expressive and I’m aware of it. This color is a bright ass pink, but it’s dark so it’s not as intimidating to me. I may try to pair it with the pink gloss to tone the shade down a bit. Yes, I’m odd, I don’t think twice about wearing green and blue lip colors, but pink scares me.

4. Ofra Eyebrow Pencil “Universal” $13 Okay, so don’t ask me how an eyebrow pencil is supposed to be a universal shade because I actually have no idea, but here we are. I’ve been reaching for this pencil everyday since I got it though! I do have to go over it with a black tinted brow mascara, but my hair is black and I like my brows to be dark as well. I’ve never used brow pencils regularly, so this is new territory. I’m more of a wax/pomade kind of gal. However, this pencil is really creamy and easy to work with. So far, I’m highly impressed with it.

Overall, I’m happy with this month’s bag. I go back and forth with this subscription constantly, I know. I quite possibly have a problem.

If anyone’s interested, I do have a code to get your first bag for $5 + 100 free shop points and it’s 1ST5
