January Lip Monthly

lip monthly

Hey lovelies,

I’m here today with another unbagging! Last week, I unbagged my January Ipsy bag, and soon after, my Lip Monthly bag arrived.

If you’re unfamiliar with Lip Monthly, they’re a beauty subscription that arrives monthly at $12 per month. Their bags have been very high value the past few months, and most items included are lip products. So, this is the ideal subscription for someone that wants all the lippies…like me.

I’ve discovered a few brands thanks to Lip Monthly!

This month, there were 4 full sized products. Three lip products and a “makeup mix up” which was actually a hair product this month.

  1. Starlooks Lip Liner $6- This lip liner is a darker pink shade, which is really lovely! It’s a retractable liner, and when I swatched it, it felt smooth and was pigmented. I’m impressed considering I have despised a few Starlooks products sent to me in the past.
  2. Coastal Scents Lipstick $5.95 (shade 15)- I have never tried a Coastal Scents lipstick before! This shade is a lovely deeper red though, and we all know I love red lipstick. The packaging is pretty cute as well.
  3. City Colour Be Matte Lipstick “Latte” $4.99- I’ve reviewed the City Color lipsticks before if you want to read it click here. In a nutshell, I love this formula. Very comparable to Melt Cosmetics, and Latte is a really lovely nude shade! I think I might have to pair it with a darker liner so it won’t wash me out, but it’s a nice cool toned nude.
  4. Oscar Blandi Hair Masque $25+– This was a full sized deep hair conditioner! Mine was a bit busted at the bottom, but it’s no big deal. I was actually in need of some deep conditioner, so it’s as if Lip Monthly read my mind this month.

Total Value of the bag- 41.94+

Overall thoughts- I love that there were two lipsticks in this month’s bag. Sometimes I’ll get lip balms and chapstick, and I don’t personally use those often. I like being able to try out lipsticks and lip liners for less than going to individual sites. I do love Lip Monthly as a whole, and I have personally never had an issue with them. I think that they have grown a lot in terms of products over the past year, though I can tell on social media that their customer service might need a bit more developing.

You all know I try to keep it as honest as possible, and I’m just being honest. Do your research and ask questions, especially if you’re thinking about signing up for anything that could be long term.

However, if you’re wanting to subscribe, I do have a referral link: https://lipmonthly.com//referral/VOTA7OjQCCz1

You can use the code “LipLover” to get your first bag for $5 as well!

As always, thank you for stopping by and reading this post! I hope you’re all having lovely days!

Top 10 Wet n Wild Products (Video)

IMG_8288

Hey lovelies,

I know I don’t always post on Fridays, but I did upload a new video to my Youtube channel yesterday! It’s also a collab with Kaily from Hello Kaily which means you’re getting two videos! Well, technically four, because we’re both uploading “get ready with me” style videos next week *winks awkwardly*

I’m really happy that Kaily wanted to collab with me on this one, because I think with brand focused videos it’s awesome to see different points of view and an variety of products. That and if you’re nosy like me, you probably like to see why people prefer some products over another within a brand.

If you don’t follow Kaily or you’re not subscribed to her, definitely check her out! I will have her video linked in this post along with mine, and I have her channel link in the description bar.

I hope you all enjoyed this video! If you want to see any other brand focus videos, please let me know! Have a good day, beauties.

J.Cat Beauty Lip Paints: Review + Lip Swatches

j.cat lip paint

Hey loves,

Today for Swatch Saturday I actually have a video! I have been trying out the J.Cat Beauty lip paints that I ordered for a bit now, and I finally sat down and did a review with lip swatches for my Youtube channel! Lip swatch videos are very intense, so I apologize if a few of the darker colors are not very pretty looking. My mouth was on fire towards the end.

IMG_7870

Anyway, just a little tidbit: J.Cat is a cruelty free and very affordable brand. They seem to have a ton of lip products, and I am impressed with almost everything I have tried, and I want to order more.

In the lip paint line, there are 36 colors. The packaging and color range is very reminiscent of the OCC lip tars. They are pretty different though. I would say the J.Cat lip paints are similar in concept and shade range, but pretty different in terms of the finish and lasting power. A few of these do go on patchy and need building up, but the ones that are patchy make incredible mixing shades! Overall, I do enjoy these lip paints and they are fun to play around with!

IMG_7869

I’m considering doing a separate video with all of my favorite mixing combinations using these. Please let me know if you would be interested in something like that, and what colors you would want to see me create! I do know a bit about color theory. Not enough to brag about, but enough to get by.

Everything else that you may need/want to know is in the description underneath the video! Please watch it and let me know what you think. Also, if you’re not subscribed to me please do so! I’m so close to 300 subscribers! So close, yet so far away.

PS- I know I spelled “review” wrong in the opening credit. Way to start a video, right? It was late, and I was tired. It happens, and I’m too lazy to delete a video and re-upload over one letter. That’s precious time that could be spent listening to music in my underwear. I’m totally kidding…

I hope you’re all having amazing days! I do plan on sitting down and catching up on comments very soon, so please don’t think I’m ignoring you! My daughters joint birthday party is this weekend and I’ve been fairly busy with that.

Milani XL Bronzer: Dolci Collection

milani bronzer

Hey lovelies,

Who’s up for more swatches of new, but limited edition, things from the drugstore?

I have seen pictures floating around instagram of the new Dolci collection by Milani in drugstores, and while I was making a run to CVS I saw the display in my store. On the display there was an eyeshadow, lipstick, lip gloss, nail polish, and this big ole bronzer duo. They’re all named Dolci. I only picked up the bronzing duo though, because I actually don’t own many bronzers.

They scare me. I’m so afraid of looking like an orange or that it will look good in my mirror and like shit in natural light that I honestly just don’t use bronzers often. With Summer approaching though, I do want to give them a try again and see if I can find one that warms up my face more than my Body Shop Honey Bronzer without making me look like an orange covered in dorito crumbs.

This bronzer and highlight duo claims to be for all skin types. That’s a pretty big claim. I picked this up for $10, which is expensive in terms of drugstore products, but there is 12 grams of product in this baby and the “shelf life” of it (if you go by that kind of thing) is 36 months. So, I do believe for the amount of product there is and given you can use this for 3+ years…$10 is a pretty decent price.

IMG_7045

Personally, I love the packaging of this duo. It’s so Summery. The little imprinting seems to not go all the way through the product, but pretty far into it. To give an idea of the size, it fits perfectly into the palm of my hand. It’s a pretty decent size.

IMG_7046

On the left is the bronzer and the right is the highlight shade

These swatched very nicely. They didn’t feel powdery or apply unevenly. Both sides were very soft to the touch.

Bronzer: When you look in the pan you can see shimmery flecks in the bronzer, but it doesn’t translate onto the skin very much. This shade is pretty warm, but I have tried it once and it looked great on my skin when I used a very very light hand with it. It’s warm, but it’s not overly warm bordering on orange, if that makes sense. It does look and apply very nicely to the skin.

Highlighter: I’m trying to figure out what I can use this shade for. It’s gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but it’s too dark for me to really use on my face as a highlight or to set anything. I may try it as an eyeshadow. I’m definetely a bit perplexed by it, but I will eventually find a use for it.

Overall thoughts: I’m happy with the bronzing side. It’s still a bit intimidating right now to me to apply, but I feel that as Summer draws nearer and my skin deepens up 1-2 more shades that it will look way better on me and not intimidate me as much. However, I feel that if you’re darker than me you should totally consider this duo! I think the overall quality and price is amazing if you’re looking to add something pretty to your collection.

Have you picked this up at your local drugstore? What are your thoughts on it? If you haven’t gotten it, will you be snagging one? Comment down below!

As always, thanks for reading and if you’re new to my blog I hope you decide to stick around!

ColourPop Turns 1!

IMG_6846

So, if you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably already seen this picture. ColourPop Cosmetics turned 1 years old as a company, and they celebrated by sending out a free shadow with ANY purchase last week in the shade “Birthday Girl.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Colourpop, they’re an indie brand that has been taking youtube and instagram by storm lately. They have grown so much over the past year, because their products are affordable and very unique. I have posted a few reviews that I will link at the end of this post, but in a nutshell, I love their products. They’re cruelty free and there’s an absolutely stellar range of colors. They started out with only eyeshadows, then added lippies, then added blushes, then added highlighters, and most recently…bronzers.

What I love about this brand is their attention to detail and how they constantly keep everyone in suspense as we wait on what they’ll come out with next. I’m so happy that they have had a great deal of success this year, and I wish them nothing but the best as a company.

I only ordered 2 things this time, mostly because I really wanted “Birthday Girl.” Don’t judge me, the pretty pink packaging sucked me in. So, I ordered a super shock shadow from the “Rumer Has It” collection, which is a collab with Rumer Willis. I ordered “Swan” because Swan Lake is beautiful in general, and I have a massive soft spot for white shadows…and glitter.

White shadows are the only ones that really show up well on my fair skin, and there’s just something so classic about stark white shadow and bright red lips, which is a look I wear often.

The brush pictured is from Sedona Lace, but I will be talking about that later on 😉

If you’re unfamiliar with Colourpop’s super shock shadow formula, they’re very creamy and not creamy at the exact same time. Very pigmented, very smooth, and rarely require primer if you wear them alone. For $5 a piece, these are some of my favorite single shadows, and I don’t buy single shadows very often.

colourpop birthday girl

Left is “Birthday Girl” which is a really pretty bronze shade and right is “Swan” which is a glittery and gorgeous white shade.

Both of these swatches are done over no primer, and I barely swirled my finger around in each pot to get this pigmentation. These are intense.

However, when I was looking closely at Swan I noticed it reminded me of something I already own…”Polyester Bride” by Urban Decay, which is my favorite inner corner highlight to use…and it’s $18 for the single shadow.

IMG_6853

Left: Polyester Bride by Urban Decay $18

Right: Swan by Colourpop $5

Well, they’re similar but still different. Colourpop’s has more glutter in it and Polyester Bride is more shimmery and a has a bit more silver in it. However, if you’re not too weird about little details, Swan might be a great and affordable alternative if you’re been wanting Polyester Bride, which I do recommend as a shade.

Anyway, that’s about it for today’s quick little post. I will be doing a review with swatches soon of the Colourpop Highlighters that I ordered a few weeks ago, so stay tuned!

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you decide to stay if you’re new to my blog!

Have a great night, lovelies.

Swatch Saturday: Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

too faced chocolate bar

I feel like I went the cliche route with my picture today, but I had to. How can you not with this cute little palette?

Okay, so I may be the last blogger to review this palette, but I’m going to anyway. Maybe it’s something that someone viewing my blog has been on the fence about for a couple weeks or a year (me), or maybe you need to revisit this palette and need to be reminded of it’s gorgeous aroma.

Yes, this palette has an aroma. It smells like chocolate and the dreams. If kitten dreams had a smell, they would smell like this palette. Okay, enough about the scent.

This palette can be found at sephora.com or toofaced.com…but I actually snagged this from a blogger that had only swatched this and wanted to sell it. Regular price of this palette is $49. Oh, and you can also get it from hsn.com and they almost always have free shipping and some kind of code to use, so there’s that. So, if you’ve been on the fence about this palette for any reason and want to see a review from someone that was in your shoes, just keep reading!

IMG_6740

When you open up this palette, you will see 16 pans full of neutral goodness. My favorite kind of surprise. There are 14 smaller shades and 2 larger “highlight” shades. I will say that a beef I have with this palette (that Too Faced changed with the Semi Sweet) is that the names are not under the shadows, nor are they on the back. The shade names are on the plastic that comes with the palette and on the box, so if you throw those out good luck with trying to figure out the name of that rad gold shade chilling on your eyeballs.

Obviously, the packaging is adorable and very durable. I love that Too Faced uses mostly tin packaging for their eye palettes because it does make these very travel friendly. This would make for a lovely travel companion that’s pretty compact and and packed with lots of color options.

What caught my eye with this palette over the Semi sweet is the variety of cool, warm, and neutral tones in this palette. There’s a purple that makes me super happy (purple is a lovely shade for those with green eyes) and that dark reddish brown shade (cherry cordial) was just screaming my name.

I will say that there are a lot of darker shades in this palette. It’s the perfect neutral palette for those that love smoky eyes, and I am one of those people. I will wear a dark smoky eye to the grocery store, I’m not afraid. I mean, don’t we all have those days where we sit down and think “I’ll wear a natural look today” and somehow end up with a smoky eye?

Anyway, now to the swatches. I did swatch these over the Hard Candy eye primer because neutrals are a bit hard to swatch on the arm at times.

too faced chocolate bar

Swatches from Left to Right:

Gilded Ganache- dark brown with some gold shimmer.

White Chocolate- warm matte beige “highlight” shade

Milk Chocolate- medium-toned, warm matte brown shade

Black Forest Truffle- deep brown with a bit of burgundy undertones and some bronze sparkle

Triple Fudge- deep matte dark brown

Salted Caramel- warm toned medium orangey brown shade

Marzipan- frosted peach shade that looks a little metallic when applied

Semi-Sweet- medium dark brown

Strawberry Bon Bon- matte cool toned pink

IMG_6738

Candied Violet- cool toned smokey violet shade

Amaretto- frosty dark brown with some red undertones

Hazelnut- darker bronzey golden shade

Creme Brulee- metallic gold

Haute Chocolate- frosty chocolate brown

Cherry Cordial- warm toned reddish brown with a hint of sparkle

Champagne Truffle- shimmery “highlight” shade that’s white with a hint of pink

IMG_6735

How did they apply? For the most part, these shadows apply and blend very well. A couple of the shades like Candied Violet and Black Forest Truffle have a bit of fallout, but it wasn’t too annoying in my opinion. The only fail in my book was strawberry bon bon. On me, it applied so chalky looking and just didn’t look right to me. Maybe it’s my loathe of baby pink eyeshadow talking here? No idea, but that was really the only shade that I felt didn’t apply well. The shades with sparkle also feel a bit dry and powdery when swatched, but they do end up blending out nicely on the lid. I feel the shimmery shades have a bit more fallout and are powdery because most of them are matte based shadows with shimmer added to them, rather than added with them if that makes sense. The metallic and frosty shades apply like butter though.

Yeah, but will my eyeballs smell like chocolate all day? I wish, but sadly the smell leaves after you apply them. Or maybe it doesn’t…I can’t really sniff my eyeballs. I have a lot of talents, but that is not one of them.

Do I need so many browns in one palette? Yes and no. I will say there are a lot of brown shades, but there is a pretty good mixture of warm and cool toned browns and a few that can lean either way. It’s really just a personal preference.

How do I keep from munching on this palette? A lot of willpower and a few eyeshadow brushes. Take it out on your eye lids and give yourself a killer smokey eye just in spite.

Is this palette worthy of being in my collection? In my opinion, yes. I honestly like the color selection and quality better than a lot of other neutral palettes floating around. I love that this one comes with a violet, gold, and a peachy shade so that you can really amp it up or tone a look down while remaining glamorous if wanted. I like that the two lightest shades are also the biggest, because those tend to be used the most. At $49 with 16 shadows that’s a little over $3 a shadow, and that in itself is a great deal!

I have read that there are a few “repeat” shades from past collections that resemble those in this palette, but I can safely say that after looking at my Natural Eyes and Matte Natural Eyes palettes there are no repeats in those, unless you consider “White Chocolate” to be eerily close to “Heaven,” but almost every neutral palette these days has a nude-beige highlight shade of some sort. This palette does lack a true black shade, so if I’m wanting a classic smokey eye I have to pull from another palette, but that’s also fairly typical of Too Faced. It’s not a deal breaker for me considering I have about a lifetime’s worth of black shadows in my collection.

I hope you all found this review to be helpful in some way, or at least entertaining. Maybe you just liked my cliche pictures and now you’re wanting chocolate 😉 ha!

As always, thanks for reading and if this is your first time visiting my blog, stay awhile! It’s free and fun.

Have a good day, lovelies.

Wet n Wild Silver Lake Collection

wet n wild silver lake

Hey lovelies,

Today I have a review with swatches of my palettes from the Wet n Wild Silver Lake Collection. I know these have been floating around for a bit, and I will admit to being skeptical at first. I find that with wet n wild shadows, they can be kind of hit and miss in terms of quality. However, I saw a few bloggers I follow talk about how awesome these were…and they’re limited edition. What is it about Limited Edition makeup that makes me buy it? You could put glittery baby turds in a container and put “limited edition” on it and I would buy it. Okay, maybe not, but I would definitely consider it.

Anyway, these little palettes have 6 shades per palette and are $3.99 each. That in itself is incredible! I feel that these are exclusive to Walgreens, or at least that is the only place I have seen displays for them at.

I have 3 palettes from the collection to share today, but there are 5 total palettes in the collection. California Roll is the other one that I want terribly, but I’m still looking for it. That seems to be the most popular one.

IMG_6316

Since this one is the one I’ve had the longest, I will start with it. This is “Thrift Store Chic” and I bought it mostly for the name, because thrift store chic is actually my lifestyle. This is a very cute and flirty palette with mostly pinks. I will admit that the glitter shades in this one are kind of lacking, but I use elf’s glitter primer with them and they end up looking beautiful! I really love the last shade in this. I don’t really have a shade like it in my collection, so that alone made this one worth it. I adore the last shade in this palette though, and it made the purchase worth it. I’ve been trying to add more colorful palettes into my collection because I really need to venture outside of the neutral zone.

IMG_6281

IMG_6315

This little pal is called “Vegan Culture” and is most definitely way out of my comfort zone. I don’t wear a lot of blues because I feel it clashes with my green eyes, but I REALLY love the mint shades in this palette. The silver is also super pretty. The shimmery white shade is also lovely and would be the perfect inner corner shade. This palette is totally the perfect spring/summer palette for those in need of something fun! All of the colors in this one swatched beautifully, and are super buttery. The pigmentation is awesome with these, as you can probably tell by how much my tattoo is covered by the last few swatches. I can’t get over how lovely those minty green shades are.

IMG_6283

IMG_6314

The last one I have to show is “Vinyl Collection.” This one is very very neutral. I obviously needed another neutral palette…but it’s limited edition. It’s justified in my mind. I do like this palette and the quality is the same as Vegan Culture. My personal favorites in this one are the matte shade (perfect transition shade for my fair skin) and the dark khaki green shade. It’s so gorgeous, and I feel it has just enough brown in it for me to pull it off. If you’re in need of an everyday neutral palette with a twist, look into this one. It’s just a nice one to add to the collection, in my opinion.

IMG_6285

Overall, I am very impressed with these shadows. A few (namely the glitter shades) are a bit lacking, but it’s not horrible. I feel these are worth the $4 each and if you can find them all, pick them up! I have no idea when these will be taken off the shelves, but I do know more limited edition items are starting to hit the shelves as well *winks*

Like I mentioned before, there are 5 palettes total in this collection and you may need to hit up a few different Walgreens in your area to find them all. Every display I have seen only has 1-2 of each palette and usually 2-4 are sold out. Frustrating to say the least. If I do find the other two I will pick them up and create a separate post with swatches!

I will definitely be playing with these more and I’m thinking about using them to create a minty Spring/Summer look!
So, if you’re new here and you’re interested in seeing looks, make sure to stick around if you want! It’s free! 😉

As always, thank you for reading and I hope you are all having lovely nights.

Lip Monthly April 2015

lip monthly

Hey beauties!

Today I’m back with another unbagging and review! Anyone else have a really odd love for beauty subscriptions? Or just monthly subscriptions in general? I really want to add a coffee service and possibly petit vour (they send only cruelty free and vegan beauty products every month) but we shall see. My boyfriend might oppose 😉

Anyway, if you’re new here *waves frantically* Lip Monthly is a beauty subscription that is $10 a month and sends out 4-5 (lately 4) products that are mostly lipsticks or glosses. So, a lipstick addict’s dream! I’ve been subscribed to them for about 5 months now, and for the most part I like it. Some things that I receive don’t exactly make sense or flatter my skin tone at all, and that’s one of my biggest beefs with this subscription. Everyone receives the same bag. Same products and colors…I don’t understand that, but it is what it is I guess.

IMG_6116(1)

This month I got 4 full sized products! The bag is valued at $37.99 which is pretty good considering I only paid $10 for it.

IMG_6118(1)

1. Cargo Gloss in “Anguilla” $16 This is in a travel sized tube, but it says there’s the same amount of product as a full sized product. This is a really pretty nude-pink gloss for those that like nude pink glosses. They’re not really my style, but I will try it because it may surprise me. I said the same thing about the butter glosses and now I can’t get enough of those…

IMG_6117(1)

2. City Colour Be Matte Lipstick “cammi” $4.99 I’ve actually been wanting to try the lipsticks from this line for awhile now! This color is one that I like as well, so win! It’s a very pretty dark purple shade. We all know how much I love my dark vampy colors…all year round.

IMG_6119(1)

3. LA Girl Lipstick “Last Night” $4 I own 3 shades from this line already, and I really like the formula! Very pigmented and creamy. With any creamy lipstick, they kinda get on my teeth, but I’m super expressive and I’m aware of it. This color is a bright ass pink, but it’s dark so it’s not as intimidating to me. I may try to pair it with the pink gloss to tone the shade down a bit. Yes, I’m odd, I don’t think twice about wearing green and blue lip colors, but pink scares me.

IMG_6120(1)

4. Ofra Eyebrow Pencil “Universal” $13 Okay, so don’t ask me how an eyebrow pencil is supposed to be a universal shade because I actually have no idea, but here we are. I’ve been reaching for this pencil everyday since I got it though! I do have to go over it with a black tinted brow mascara, but my hair is black and I like my brows to be dark as well. I’ve never used brow pencils regularly, so this is new territory. I’m more of a wax/pomade kind of gal. However, this pencil is really creamy and easy to work with. So far, I’m highly impressed with it.

Overall, I’m happy with this month’s bag. I go back and forth with this subscription constantly, I know. I quite possibly have a problem.

If anyone’s interested, I do have a code to get your first bag for $5 + 100 free shop points and it’s 1ST5
