RocksBox Review!

IMG_4038

I have something a teensy bit different today for my blog! I was contacted by Rocksbox and asked if I would be interested in reviewing their subscription service for a few months. I happily agreed after realizing this is the same jewelry service Thataylaaa raved about awhile back. I know I’ve said this before, but she’s one of the few big vloggers I trust, and after browsing through their site for a bit, I was stoked to get my first box! Yes, I did receive this for free, but my thoughts and opinions are my own, as usual.

Shipping was very quick. I had my box two days after my tracking code was sent.

Rocksbox is a monthly jewelry subscription that costs $19 a month, but you get close to or over $200 worth in loaner jewelry. You can also send back the set you have for a new set at any time! Shipping is free both ways for the subscriber, and there is no committment. You can cancel at any point. In the box you get a shipping label, and the envelope it comes in is also the one you send everything back in! I thought that was pretty neat. Little things entertain me.

Each month that you are subscribed, you receive $10 in “shine spend” which allows you to potentially buy a favorite piece of yours and keep it forever! You go through a quiz, much like with Ipsy, in order to figure out which styles you love and don’t love so they can cater your jewelry to you.

So, how did my “stylist” do with mine? Awesome! It’s no secret that I love bold makeup and necklaces. When I opened up my box and saw that necklace, I legitimately gasped.

What was in my box?

Urban Gem Aubrey Necklace– This necklace retails at $80, and isn’t it so stunning? It’s everything I want in a statement necklace. Bold, yet dark and it’s very lightweight. I love this piece and may end up buying it for myself eventually.

Kendra Scott Earrings- These earrings are also some that I can see myself wearing often. I can’t wear super large and heavy earrings because that’s a disaster waiting to happen with two toddlers. I do love pretty earrings that aren’t studs from time to time. These retail at $65.

Jill Michael Delicate double chain bracelet- This is the one thing I’m kind of “meh” about. I’m not really into delicate jewelry. Have I mentioned before that I’m an all or nothing type of person? I’m either tacky or completely bland, there’s rarely an in between with me. This is a really pretty bracelet for anyone that does like more delicate styles though, and retails at $45.

Of course, if you sign up and you’re an insider, the prices to buy most pieces are dropped pretty significantly.

I think this would be a cute “treat yoself” type of subscription since it’s not makeup related, but is still relatively affordable. It would also be a cute gift to someone else!

All in all, I’m really happy with this so far. I’m excited to send a few pieces back and see what’s in store for me next!

If you’re interested in getting your first month with Rocksbox free, I do have a coupon code. Just enter lunafayebeautyxoxo to try this out for free, and you can cancel if it ends up not being for you!

What are your thoughts on subscriptions like this? I would love to hear about them!

As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days.

My First OOTD Post

IMG_1206(1)

Okay, so today’s post is going to be a bit different from my usual posts. I have been wanting to do fashion and outfit posts for so long. However, I struggle so much with my own body image. I can feel cute all day long, but seeing myself on camera or putting my body out there for others to see makes me…nervous, to say the least. I do follow so many beautiful and body positive bloggers, and they have inspired me a lot over time to try and be more positive about myself.

So, here I am, posting my first official outfit of the day. I tried to film it, but hated it, so baby steps I guess are needed. If this is something that you want to see more of on my blog, please let me know.

IMG_1204

This outfit was really simple, yet very cute, in my opinion. The Guns n Roses tank is from Kohl’s, and the fluffy tulle skirt is actually from Rue 21. The hat is also from Rue 21. The belt came from Target, and is a few seasons old.

Ah, but how do I nurse in an outfit like this? Simple! I have a thin cami on underneath, and when Piper needs to nurse, I just lift up the top tank and lift down my cami. The two shirt method has been my go to way to wear cute outfits while breastfeeding for over 3 years now, since Harmony was born.

IMG_1207(1)

Makeup details are relatively simple as well. On my eyes is the Too Faced Natural Matte palette. Blush is “essex” by Kat Von D, and my highlight is “Spoon” by Colourpop. Lipstick is “Unicorn Blood” by Jeffree Star Cosmetics.

Photos were taken in my backyard 🙂 Pretty nifty, huh?

I hope you all enjoyed this really quick post! As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you’re all having lovely days!

July Favorites!

Hey lovelies,

It’s the beginning of a new month, which means that I get to talk about all the things I’ve been loving on and around my face for the past month! Most of what I talked about was makeup, of course, but I did add a random favorite in there.

The question of the day is, what do you all like to see in favorites videos? I try to keep it down to my absolute favorites to avoid talking for 30 mins, but I am always up for hearing feedback regarding my channel and content. Even though I film and post what I like, I do keep in mind that others watch me and I would hate to sound repetitive or put everyone to sleep.

Do you all like favorites videos with strictly makeup, or some skincare and hair stuff mixed with a few random things? Let me know!

I hope you all enjoyed July’s video! If you’re new to my blog, please subscribe to my channel! I typically post videos to my blog after they’ve been on my channel for a few days.

All products mentioned are in the description box 🙂 I did forget to mention that my awesome hat is from Rue 21.

Have a good day, lovelies.

Affordable Vampy Colors

IMG_8194

So, I’ve went over some affordable shades of red and my favorite “my lips but better” shades, but I haven’t touched on some of my absolute favorite shades to wear…vampy shades. I know that some people will see this and gasp and shout, “BUT IT ISN’T FALL!” and honestly, who cares? Screw rules. You wanna walk outside in 98 degree weather and rock a dark purple lip, do it. Own that shit.  I wear dark colors all year. There’s just something about a simple eye and bold lip that boosts my confidence. Okay, bold lips in general do that for me.

Beautiful and high quality darker colors do not have to cost you an arm and a leg though. However, if you’re nervous about wearing a vampy color and want to drop $20 on that Anastasia liquid lippie, buying a $5 tube of a similar color could boost your confidence and allow you to see if you like the color beforehand. Skip the usual $5 latte one day and go hit up your nearest Ulta or drugstore, because that’s where many of the shades I’m about to talk about came from!

Nyx Simply Vamp “She Devil” Okay, the name of this lipstick is badass for one, but I am a huge fan of the Simply everything formula by Nyx. I am not a fan of the packaging though. If you can get past that, these are amazing, and will only cost you $6.50 I believe. She Devil is a gorgeous blackened purple color, and it reminds me of Mac’s “Cyber” lipstick that everyone was ga-ga over last year. I don’t have that one to compare, but the formula of the Nyx one is creamier and a bit glossier. It dries down to a more semi-matte finish.

Nyx Simply Vamp “Enamored” Honestly, I recommend checking out all 6 shades in the Simply Vamp line because I own them all, but I tried to choose my absolute favorites, and this is one. Every time I wear this shade I get compliments. It’s a gorgeous burgundy shade with an almost rust look to it. Very 90’s shade, in my opinion. I was a kid in the 90’s so I wouldn’t personally know, so I’m just basing that off of old pictures from The Craft.

Colourpop’s “Pitch” This shade is the essence of the 90’s. It’s a straight up chocolate brown. It’s supposed to be matte, but the Colourpop formula isn’t as matte as a liquid lipstick. This shade is most comparable to Lime Crime’s “Salem,” though it’s not a spot on dupe. I really like to wear this shade on top of the “creature” pencil to give it a more reddish tone. These are also $5 each.

Colourpop “Creature” If I’m being honest, I reach for this shade so often. I love it. It’s a deep burgundy red with a hint of brown in it. This is also matte, and looks a bit more matte on the lips than Pitch does, in my opinion. I don’t always buy the matching pencils with these lippie sticks, but creature is one that I have used so often since I’ve had it.

Colourpop’s “Feminist” The color of this lippie is BOLD. It’s a super dark blackened purple, and it reminds me of Anastasia Bevelry Hills’ “Potion” but of course the Colourpop one isn’t a liquid. So, if you’re not into the liquid lipstick trend, but want a blackened purple, look into this one! The lippie sticks are only 1 gram in product, so if you don’t end up liking it or using it often, it’s not a huge waste of product.

IMG_8196

Milani “Matte Fearless” I know I have mentioned this lipstick so many times already, but it is so perfect. It’s a dark purplish burgundy, and you can’t beat the price for a shade this gorgeous!

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream “Transylvania” This is a cult favorite, and for awhile I didn’t fully understand the hype because the formula is a bit patchy on this shade. However, paired with a deep liner this shade is fantastic. I only added it in here because it is a cult favorite, and someone might be looking for a helpful tip to actually make this shade work. I love the color, but it really does look patchy alone.

City Color Be Matte “Marissa” This is the most matte formula in this post. I have said that before, but I’m saying it again so that everyone knows that this formula is much like the Melt Cosmetics formula. Super matte, and super drying. I did see a post on Dupethat stating that this shade is an exact dupe for Melt Cosmetics “Dark Room” and from what I could tell in the photo, it was a spot on dupe, finish and all. This lipstick costs $5 on the city color website, for can be found for cheaper ($2 for me) at your local Five Below.

Milani “Matte Love” This shade is a deeper cranberry shade. Perfect for those that want to try darker shades but don’t want to go from pink to goth in 2.5 seconds. I feel that this shade would be flattering on several different skin tones, and like I have said before the moisture matte collection by Milani is currently my favorite drugstore matte line.

That’s it for my post today! I hope you all enjoyed it, or at least found it entertaining in some sense. Do you wear vampy shades all year, or only in the Fall and Winter? Are you going to pick up any that I mentioned in this post? Comment and tell me about it!

As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having lovely days!

Some of My Favorite Accessories

IMG_8062

Hey lovelies,

It’s been awhile since I have done anything fashion related. Honestly, I’ve never thought my sense of fashion was appealing to others. I kind of just dress however I’m feeling the day I wake up. I like a wide range of things that start at vintage everything to anything dark and creepy. That’s why I don’t particularly classify myself as “goth” or “punk” or whatever else, because people take that stuff way too seriously, and how dare I say I’m something if I’m not living and breathing it 24/7. In a nutshell: I do what I want. Just think of me as your friendly everyday slightly grungy mom with pretty necklaces.

However, it’s pretty apparent that I do have a love for weird and odd accessories. I do get asked often where I buy my rings and earrings. I have a love for accessories that can be worn with plain shirts and completely change an outfit. That’s what I’m rockin’ a lot of days. Skinny jeans, a tee, and some odd accessory. Typical disclaimer: everything in this post was purchased by me, and none of these companies know that I am doing this post! Everything is my honest, raw opinion.

IMG_8065

I tend to buy from individuals rather than large companies. Not all the time, but most of the time, especially lately. I love the idea of my favorite necklaces and hair accessories being handmade. I know that the people I buy from the most put a lot of time and effort into their work, and it shows in the quality of their pieces. So, for today, I want to share some of my favorite pieces that are seen most often in my videos and pictures, and I will include links and mini reviews of each person/company.

Worship 13 Jewelry: This is where the two large pendant necklaces and the large Chuck Hodi ring are from. I buy from Worship 13 very often, and I have always had a very positive experience! I most recently purchased a bat and black lipstick phone case from her, and shipping is always pretty quick in terms of independent businesses. She has a huge selection of gorgeous pieces, and is always adding new things.

Bella Morta Jewelry: This is where my Deftones and full moon earrings came from. The Deftones earrings were actually a custom order, and I adore them. Any other Deftones fans that follow my blog? She sells some lovely handmade pieces and is always very quick to ship everything. I recently snagged a triple moon coin purse from her off instagram, and a Frankenstein necklace that was featured in my Face of the Day post last week.

Dulce Calveritas: I discovered this shop through Kat Von D’s instagram page (another angel for promoting smaller shops) and when I saw the raven skull ring my heart skipped a beat and I practically threw my credit card at my computer screen. It’s not a real raven skull, but this ring is very well made. I absolutely love the attention to detail, and almost every time I wear it someone asks me where I got it from. This shop also sells nifty bat bows and coffee bean earrings!

Clip a Bow Boutique: Remember when I said I wear whatever I want? Okay, so bows are one of my guilt little pleasures. I think they’re so cute and look great on everyone, no matter the age. I own quite a few, but one of my favorites (okay it’s my favorite) is my LOTR bow. It’s big, it’s nerdy, it’s perfect. I am a huge LOTR fan, and this bow is a dream come true.

IMG_8063

Minky Monky Jewelry: this isn’t a small shop, I don’t believe. However, I’ve been getting a few questions about my septum rings and I thought I would mention it. I have been getting most of my septum and nostril pieces from either Minky Monky or Baublenation lately. They sell really lovely pieces at affordable prices. I know someone is gonna read that and judge me for wearing cheaper jewelry, but whatever. Momma is on a budget, and the thought of spending $200 on a septum clicker makes me gag. I don’t wear these 24/7, and I typically change it for my barbell at the end of the day.

IMG_8064(1)

Dead Spider Hands: if you follow me on Snapchat, you’ve seen this coloring book already. I’m head over heels in love with it. Adult coloring books are very trendy right now, and now I have one that’s perfect for me. It’s small, it’s cute, and it’s filled with hand drawn monster girls. Coloring is something that calms me down at the end of the night, especially on days where I’m feeling particularly anxious. This entire shop is gold though, and I have a few prints as well. I love buying pieces from independent artists.

So, that’s about it for today’s accessory post. These are just a few things that I love! I own a lot of really cool pieces, so if you are interested in seeing more posts like these, let me know! I love sharing new shops that I come across.

I hope you’re all having lovely days, and if you want, link me to some of your favorite places to buy accessories and other cute things!

Face of the Day: My “go to” Date Night Look

IMG_8097

Hey lovelies,

How is everyone? I’m sitting down and typing this out on a Tuesday, and it’s been a weird day. A mostly happy day with some weird things. I started my day off by getting pooped on and I broke my favorite jewelry holder on my foot and I bled everywhere. However, once my kids laid down for a nap I was able to sit down and plan out my look for this week. I also had a great selfie day. There’s just something about looking through pictures and thinking, “Damn, I look nice,” that can perk a lady right up. And yes, you’re allowed to think you look damn good sometimes…or everyday. Because you all look nice everyday.

Anyway, today’s look is going to be my “go to” date night look lately. I tried to put my Kat Von D palette down for once and use all single shadows and some new products that I want to talk about a bit more. My go-to style of makeup in general is usually a pretty crease, a light lid, cat eye and fun lipstick. I know this differs for everyone, but I’m a bit “all or nothing” when it comes to my makeup. So, on date nights I like to go all out and feel happy and confident. For me, that includes red lipstick and cat eyes.

IMG_8095

I also put on an outfit that I would probably wear on a night out (a dress) and curled my hair. Without further adieu, let’s get into the details.

IMG_8096

My base today is actually a wee bit different than normal. I haven’t used my Hard Candy primer in awhile, so I pulled it out for this look. I actually like this primer, and do find it helps my makeup to truly stick, even in the Summer. My foundation is Nyx’s Invincible foundation in “Fair” mixed with a bit of my City Color tinted moisturizer in “fair” to thin it out a bit. That’s my number one tip for full coverage foundations on dry skin…a tinted moisturizer or a bit of beauty oil will thin out a matte foundation a bit making it lay better on the skin. I find this doesn’t take away too much coverage, but my skin has also been relatively clear lately.

My concealer is my usual…La Girl’s pro concealer in “porcelain.” However, today I set my under eyes with the City Color HD setting powder that I got in my July Ipsy bag. My first impression is that I enjoy this powder. Loose powder annoys me a bit in the sense that it’s pretty messy, but I did find this powder to be finely milled and very silky feeling.

IMG_8093

For my contour I used the dark shade in the Elf contour kit. Blush is “Birthday Suit” by Colourpop, and highlight is “Smokin Whistles” also by Colourpop.

My brows are my usual as of late, which is the Milani brow pomade in “Dark Brown” and set with Nyx’s brow mascara in “Black”

IMG_8099 IMG_8091

Okay, so for my eyes I primed with my Too Faced Shadow insurance. My transition shade is actually from a sample I received from Shiro Cosmetics called “Mourning.” It’s a lovely medium toned orangey-beige shade that is perfect for warmer toned looks because it’s not too orange. Don’t worry, I’ve ordered the full size. Then as a second transition shade I took “Dirty” by My Pretty Zombie Cosmetics (not pretty zombie cosmetics, it confused me at first too). Because I like to look like a big eyed doll at times, I did a rounded shape and took this pretty far in close to the bridge of my nose.

On my lid is actually a Colourpop shadow called “Acorn.” This came from their Spring collection, and I love it. It’s a pearlized cream color, so it gives dimension to this look without being shimmery. I applied this with my finger, which is how you get the most pigmentation with Colourpop shadows. However, concealer brushes work as well! The outer color is “A regular Bears Meeting” by Shiro Cosmetics.

Normally, I would use black liner for my wing. However, I’m still on the colored liner kick and I created a liner using Shiro Cosmetics’ “A War of Five Armies” shadow (see my method here) and I feel this really made the green in my eyes stand out. It’s a lovely dark burgundy shade. Lashes are the same ones that I talked about in my last video that you can watch here if interested. They’re just ebay lashes, but I love how wispy and romantic they look.

In my water liner I have Nyx’s jumbo eye pencil in “Milk.” Then I have “Mourning” blended out and “Dirty” closer to the lash line and slightly blended out. Mascara is Maybelline’s The Falsies. My inner corner highlight is super dramatic. You don’t have to be as dramatic as me. I used “Swan” from Colourpop. I love this as an inner corner highlight.

vampira

For my lips, it’s just Kat Von D’s “Vampira.” I haven’t worn this liquid lipstick in a bit, and I forgot how much I truly adore this shade and formula. It applies evenly and lasts all day. It feels comfortable and applies like a dream. I definitely want to get my hands on quite a few of the new shades when my local Sephora has all of them. I set my entire face with Urban Decays All Nighter spray.

Funny story about my hair: if you follow me on twitter, you would have seen me mention that I did a wet set using foam rollers and said I looked like “a punk poodle.” I did. It was bad. I put my hair in a bun and the next day (today) my hair looked better, and I went over the weird parts with a curling iron. This was the result. From punk poodle to glorious curls.

My necklace is from Bella Morta Jewelry, and my dress was actually a clearance find from Marshall’s.

I hope you all enjoyed this look! Tell me about your go to looks, for dates or whenever else. What makes you feel sexy and sassy?

Have a good day, lovelies.

Lip Monthly July 2015

lip monthly july

Hey beauties,

I’m here today to do another unbagging! I got my Lip Monthly bag in the mail on Monday, which was a pleasant surprise, because it was storming and gloomy. If you’re unfamiliar with Lip Monthly, they are a beauty subscription that sends out typically 4 full sized products meant for those that love lip products. Their subscription used to be $10 per month, but now they have upped the price to $13 a month. The price change does not affect those that were already signed up though. I’m guessing the price change happened because they do send out full sized products and because the bags have been getting nifty upgrades.

I will say that this subscription is still worth $13. It has improved substantially over the past few months. If you have been keeping up with my blog for awhile now, you’ll know that I have went back and forth regarding my feelings towards Lip Monthly. However, I wanted them to succeed and improve, and they have from what I have seen. It’s always promising to see companies constantly work to improve their services and products.

IMG_8067

Anyway, I receieved four full sized products this month. Three lip products, and the “makeup mix up” which is usually something non lip related. As always, I will list what the price is of each item and go over the total value of the bag!

IMG_8071

Lord and Berry Crayon “Fire” $19 Starting off with a high roller product, this month I got a Lord & Berry lip crayon. This crayon is pretty tiny considering it’s $19. However, the color is stunning! It truly reminds me of a fire red. I only swatched it a tiny bit, and it was really smooth. I’m pretty excited to try this, because you all know how I am about my reds.

IMG_8069

Milani Lip Intense in “Violet Addict” $6.49 I love Milani lip products! However, I already have this color. I actually reviewed this not too long ago,and if you’re interested in my thoughts click here. I love this shade and this formula. I did take a photo of the one I already have instead of opening the new one up though. I’m going to set it in my “giveaway” basket that is slowly collecting some pretty things! Be on the lookout!

IMG_8070

Harvey Prince Mini Roller in “Sincerely” $21 Okay, so I have gotten a fragrance from Harvey Prince before and it smelled like gardenias barfed all over me. I was not a fan. However, this one is better. I will say that Harvey Prince fragrances are strong. I don’t know if I can wear it with my allergies, but I’m going to try and wear it on my wrists a few times to see how that goes.

IMG_8068

Medusa’s Makeup Gloss “French Kiss” $9 This is probably my favorite item this month! First, the packaging is badass. I love it. Second, I have been wanting to try this brand for some time. I’m not a huge lip gloss fan, but I don’t mind trying out new ones. This shade looks like a baby pink, which isn’t my thing whatsoever. However, if I like the formula enough I might finally purchase a few things off their site, including the eye dusts that I have seen floating around Instagram for years now.

Total value of this month’s bag: $55.49

Overall thoughts: This was a decent high value bag! I’m excited to try out a few brands that I have been wanting to try, and I would have been way happier about the Milani lippie if I didn’t already have it in my stash. I am happy that they sent a variety of colors. There was a red, pink, and a fun violet color. I find that Lip Monthly would probably be way more awesome for people wanting to build up their lippie stash on a budget, but I don’t mind adding to my own collection. I should care at this point because my collection is ridiculous…#cantstopwontstop

If you get Lip Monthly, what did you get? Are you happy with your goodies? Or were they baddies? Okay, that’s my worst joke so far on my blog. I’m done now.

Have a lovely day!

Ipsy July 2015: Summer Lovin’

ipsy

Hey beauties,

How is everyone? Anyone else getting rained in this Summer? I feel like all it’s done this Summer is rain. I’m not totally complaining, I don’t go outside much in the Summer. However, the humidity is making me want to toss mattresses out my window. The one thing I hate more than heat is humidity. It’s an asthmatic’s enemy.

So, getting my cute pink bubble wrap envelope filled with ipsy goodies was a welcomed surprise. If you’re unfamiliar with Ipsy, it’s a beauty subscription that costs $10 per month. The products are supposed to be catered to each persons interests, and there are typically 4-5 full sized or sample sized products. My bag typically arrives in the middle of the month, but it differs for a lot of people depending on where they live.

This month I received 5 cute things, and I am excited to share them with you all! Typical disclaimer, my referral code is linked at the end of the post, but my opinions on these products are honest and my own. I buy this subscription every month myself, and anyone can refer people with Ipsy!

IMG_7980

City Color HD Loose Setting Powder- So, I thought this was full sized, but the full sized version has 7 grams of product, and this one has 4. Still, that’s a whole lot of powder! This is a translucent setting powder that claims to be finely milled and blurs out imperfections. I haven’t tried this out yet, but I may give my thoughts on it in this week’s “face of the day” if I get around to using it! I’m really happy that I got this in my bag. I love powders! If this doesn’t work out for my face, it will probably still get used if I want to change a glossy lipstick to a matte lipstick or to clean up around my lips when I’m doing lip swatches.

IMG_7981

Octavio Molina Sea Salt Hair Spray- Not gonna lie, I am not happy to see hair products in my bags at times. My hair is very curly naturally, and not many products that are sent work for me. However, I will try this one out. It claims to give hair texture while also keeping is moisturized. That’s a mighty high claim for hair like mine, so I will put it to the test. I do like sea salt sprays even though I hate touching my hair afterwards. It feels gross to me. Anyone else feel that way?

IMG_7982

Be a Bombshell Lip Balm in “French Kiss”- I was a wee bit sad that I didn’t get the Ruby shade, but this one is nice as well. I’ve received a few products from Be a Bombshell, and I like their brand as a whole! This is a full sized product, and it claims to keep lips hydrated while giving a little color to the lips. The shade French kiss is a very light pink, so it just looks and feels like your typical balm. I do like it. It’s a nice little balm to throw in your bag on the go to hydrate your lips if you’re wearing a matte lipstick. Would I pay $13 for this balm outside of getting it in my bag? Probably not, but I’m not a lip balm fanatic.

IMG_7986 IMG_7983

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer- When I saw this in my glam room, I kinda squealed. On the inside, of course. I feel like I never get the high end samples when they are sent out, but this time I got this little pretty! I’m not a huge bronzer fan, but I’m willing to try it because I do love Tarte! The packaging is stunning. The gold shimmer concerns me a bit with my skin tone, but I can probably use it as an eyeshadow if it is too warm.

IMG_7984

Eau Thermale Avene Soapless Gel Cleanser- When I first looked at this I thought Ipsy had sent me mouthwash. I probably would have preferred mouthwash. Skin products are so weird for me because my skin is so sensitive, so I’m hesitant about putting new things on my face because my skin is finally recovering and looking nice after the hormone tornado that happened to me after I had my second daughter. I may try it, but I might put it to the side and forget about it. Sorry, buddy.

A quick Ipsy Tip- I’ve been getting asked how I’ve gotten pretty good bags several months in a row now and the answer is simple! Do the surveys and rate your products every month. Seriously, it’s that simple. The ratings will ask if you liked the product and if you enjoy that type of product. I’m assuming at that point it will update your profile in whatever database they use to help cater your bag to your wants and needs. I have been getting way better bags since I now rate everything every month, not to mention you get free points by doing so! It’s not a guarantee that you will love every product, but I’ve been happy with almost everything lately.

That’s everything that I got this month! Oh wait, I did get another JCat Liptitude in “Blow your mind” since it was part of the points rewards, but I’m saving that for the review I’m filming of all the shades I have!

I hope you all enjoyed this post, and if you’re new here I hope you decide to stick around! Emails for my blog are free to sign up for *nudges*

I will have my review for July’s Lip Monthly bag coming up soon as well since I’m still waiting for it to arrive! In the meantime, what did you all receive in your Ipsy bags if you get them? Tell me or link me to your posts down below!

Have a good day, lovelies.

Face of the Day: “Lingered in Twilight”

IMG_7964

Hey loves,

It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for this week’s “face of the day” post! I look forward to this post every week, and I hope you all enjoy them as well. They’ve pushed me to try new looks and to try new products/colors out. When I did this look it was very rainy and gloomy, so I was feeling another cool toned look. But don’t worry, I made it fun! Anyone else stuck inside all day Tuesday thanks to intense storms? We were. My husky was feeling anxious and our power flickered on and off all day. I also had a tired mom moment and completely ignored the flash flood warning on my phone because I was very tired and the girls were still asleep.

Not one of my proudest moments.

Anyway, if my pictures seem a bit darker than usual, that’s why. I tend to use natural light for my face photos, it’s just personal preference.

First thing to address, I cut my bangs! I wanted a new style without cutting my hair since I’ve been growing it out for two years now. So, I went with short “v” bangs. Essentially, they’re just bettie bangs that meet in a point. Like a faux widow’s peak. I love it. I also have new nose jewelry because I noticed last week that the gems in my last clicker were falling out. My nose looks pretty again.

Okay, I’m serious now let’s talk makeup. For my base I primed with my Laura Mercier hydrating primer, as usual. I mixed together City Color Cosmetic’s tinted moisturizer in “fair” and LA Girl Pro BB cream in “fair.” There’s something that I really love about this combination. It’s a nice coverage and looks dewy on my skin, yet my freckles peak through. I’ve really been loving it, but I noticed that it’s a bit dark on me. I might have to add my manic panic dreamtone to it. Woo, it takes 3 products to get the perfect mix! #thestruggle

I set my face with my Laura Geller Balance and Brightening powder in “porcelain” and used my LA Girl pro concealer in “porcelain” under my eyes and set that with Physicians Formula correcting powder.

My contour today is my Lunatick Cosmetic Labs cool contour kit, and it’s also what I used to contour my nose. Blush is Milani’s “Romantic Rose” and highlight is Colourpop’s “Smokin Whistles.” I have been addicted to this highlight the past few weeks. It’s a gorgeous champagne color that reflects silver. It’s the absolute perfect champagne highlight for fair, cool toned skin. I’m in love.

My brows are Milani’s new pomade in “dark” and set with Nyx’s brow mascara in “black.” Also a favorite combo of mine lately. I primed my eyes with Too Faced’s shadow insurance and my transition shade is “SOS” by Nyx. I then took “Downtown” by Colourpop on a flat brush and put that more concentrated in my crease. Because my liner is fun today, I wanted a simpler look on my lids, and I felt taupe would contrast well with the teal color of the liner. Lid and brow highlight is the white shade from the Kat Von D shade+light eye palette. Only because no other matte white compares to that one, in my opinion.

Okay, so remember when I posted about how to change your loose shadow into liner? Hey, well I did that today. I mixed a homemade water and vegetable glycerin combo on a palette with Shiro Cosmetics shadow in “Lingered in Twilight.” This shade is a gorgeous deeper teal with a bit of sparkle, and I thought it would make the perfect liner on a stormy day.

I did tightline my upper water line with a gel pencil because it made my eyes look a bit fuller, and I was planning on wearing false lashes. I used my Maybelline The Falsies mascara on my upper and lower lashes, and my lashes are a pair that I got off ebay. I honestly do not know the name of them, but they are very nice and wispy.

On my lower lash line I used Nyx’s jumbo pencil in “Milk” on my water line and blended “SOS” and “Downtown” together on the lower lash line. My inner corner highlight is a Nyx loose pigment. I believe the color is “platinum” or something, but that’s a con to the Nyx loose shadows. They’re gorgeous and affordable, but good luck remembering the names once you take the sticker off and open it.

My lips are lined with Essence’s liner in “soft berry” and topped with LaSplash’s “Nymphadora.” My whole face is set with Pixi’s glow mist setting spray.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s face of the day post! If you have any requests or want to know anything about a product mentioned, please feel free to ask in the comment section!

Have a good day, beauties.

My Favorite MLBB Shades

IMG_7819

Hey loves,

Today I am going to be talking about lipstick again! If you’re wondering what “MLBB” stands for, it stands for “My Lips but Better” and not something odd like “My luscious big booty.” This is supposed to be a tag post of some sort, but no one tagged me and I just felt like doing this. I did a post last week about my favorite affordable red lipsticks, so today I want to touch on my favorite nude lipsticks.

For reference: I am very fair and my skin is cool toned. Cool toned mauve colored shades suite my skin tone the best. My lips are also naturally very pigmented, and pull a bit more mauve to begin with. For me, pink nudes with a bit of a brown tone to them are the way to go in terms of nude lipsticks on fair skin. I find it to be very flattering and a striking contrast. I tend to avoid very light pink and super pale nude shades, because many times it just looks like I put concealer on my lips. I mean, there is a time and place for concealer lips, but not when I want something pretty that will go with about any eye look I’m wearing that day.

To answer your question, yes, I have bought so many mauve lipsticks since every makeup company keeps coming out with various mauve and dark nude lipstick shades. Can’t stop, won’t stop. I love this mauve and brown lipstick trend. This is also the picture that I’m going to forever send to creepy people that ask me for nudes. “Oh, okay, here are all my favorite nudes in one photo!” On to the lipsticks of the hour:

Stila “Patina” I lusted over this shade from the moment I saw it on Thataylaa until I finally ordered it during a Stila sale a few months back. This is a liquid to matte lipstick, and it is glorious. It smells like cupcakes and it lasts on my lips for a very long time. I do find that the smell of these lasts for a bit longer than most, so if that kind of thing bothers you, you might not like this formula. I find that the applicator on the Stila liquid lipsticks are very nice and give a precise application. I highly recommend this shade if you love mauve liquid lipsticks.

Nyx Matte “Whipped Caviar” I have mentioned the Nyx Matte formula before, and I will probably continue to do so because I love them so much. Very affordable at $5-6, and whipped caviar is the perfect nude shade for anyone looking for a beautiful mauve shade that’s budget friendly.

Nyx “Thalia” This is an old and constant favorite of mine. The shade is much like “Whipped Caviar” but it’s a glossier formula. I love the round case lipsticks, and I believe I own way too many of them. Thalia is one of those lipsticks that you can throw on with a dewy base and bit of mascara and it somehow glams up the entire look while looking natural. It’s a power shade, in my opinion.

LaSplash “Charmed” This is a more recent addition to my collection, and I have raved about the LaSplash liquid lipsticks very often on my blog. Charmed is from the mousse collection, so this formula is different from the lip couture line. These dry very quickly, and they have an intense staying power. Charmed is a lighter pink-ish nude shade that is very flattering on my skin tone. It’s light and flirty, but it doesn’t wash me out. I do find that this pulls a bit more grey on my lips somedays than pink or mauve, which is nice. It’s a very different shade.

Nyx Butter Lipstick “Pops” The Nyx butter lipsticks pop up often in my lipstick posts. Pops is more of a brown toned mauve, but it is so flattering on multiple skin tones. I highly recommend this color, and the Nyx butter lipsticks in general. They are incredible, and I wear them often, especially in the Summer. I can apply this shade without even looking in a mirror if I need to.

Kat Von D Studded Lipstick “Lovecraft” This is probably one of the most worn lipsticks in my collection. I actually put it down for awhile because I was afraid of running out, and these are on the pricier side at $21 a piece. So worth it. The studded lipsticks are very matte. You will probably need to apply a bit of balm a little while before applying one to make the application smoother. Lovecraft is an absolutely stunning shade. I always get compliments on it when I wear it out. Maybe it’s the confidence it gives me, or maybe it’s how flattering this shade is on my skin…who knows. I just know that if you are looking to buy a few shades from this line, pick this one up. You won’t regret it.

That’s it for today’s post! I hope you all enjoyed this quick little blurb about some of my favorite MLBB shades of lipstick. What are some of your favorite shades of nude? Let me know in the comments section!

Also, if you have any requests for my next “my favorites” lipstick/blush/whatever else post…please let me know! I thoroughly enjoy these types of posts.

I hope you’re all having wonderful days, and thanks for stopping by!

*typical disclaimer- I bought all these products myself, and all opinions are my own!
