June Lip Monthly Review

lip monthly

Hey beauties,

I know this is July and I’m reviewing a June bag, but it arrived in my mailbox close to the end of the month, and then birthdays and holidays happened. Better late than never, right?

I’ve been subscribed to Lip Monthly for a little over a year now. I think I signed up close to when they first started sending bags out. Ipsy is my only other beauty subscription besides this one.

If you’re unfamiliar with Lip Monthly, they’re a lip product focused subscription that costs $12.95 per month. They will even ship internationally, and I believe it’s at an affordable rate! However, I do have a coupon code that will make your first bag close to $6. My code is Kayla55.

Yes, it’s an affiliate code. However, I was subscribed to Lip Monthly way before I was offered a code with them. I stand by my opinions and will link more posts at the end.

Most months I’m sent bags with 3 lip products and one “makeup mix up” product. However, this month I was sent 2 non lip oriented products! Let’s go over what was in the bag:

Jelly Pong Pong Lip Butter– This retails at $18.95. Jelly Pong Pong is such a weirdly named cosmetic brand, but I have enjoyed quite a few items I’ve gotten from this brand from both Lip Monthly and Ipsy. This lip butter has the most adorable packaging! I love hot air balloons! This is also very reminiscent of the Tarte lip butters. I think if you enjoy more hydrating lip formulas, this one would be up your alley! I love the texture and think it’s nice everyday shade and formula for me.

Be a Bombshell Lip/Cheek Stick– This retails at $16. I’ve actually gotten one of these sticks in a past Ipsy bag and loved it! I enjoy cream products on my cheeks in the Summer, they tend to look better throughout the day in humid weather compared to using all powder products. The shade I received is a gorgeous rose gold shade! I’m excited to use this on my cheeks. I don’t know about my lips unless I use a brush, but I think this would make a pretty blush on fair skin!

Chrislie Lip Crayon- This retails at $13. I love this shade! Because it’s a lip crayon it’s a bit on the sheerer side, but it’s still deep enough in color where even I will wear it. The formula feels very hydrating as well.

Peony Cosmetics Highlighter– This was technically the makeup mix up product, and I love it! I hoard highlighters, and this is a gorgeous pinky shade that I can’t wait to pair with other highlighters in my collection. This retails at $22.

Bag total: $69.95

Overall thoughts: I love this bag overall way more than I did last month. Last month had a couple of goodies, but was overall not as spectacular as June’s bag. I will definitely be trying out all of these products!

January Lip Monthly

lip monthly

Hey lovelies,

I’m here today with another unbagging! Last week, I unbagged my January Ipsy bag, and soon after, my Lip Monthly bag arrived.

If you’re unfamiliar with Lip Monthly, they’re a beauty subscription that arrives monthly at $12 per month. Their bags have been very high value the past few months, and most items included are lip products. So, this is the ideal subscription for someone that wants all the lippies…like me.

I’ve discovered a few brands thanks to Lip Monthly!

This month, there were 4 full sized products. Three lip products and a “makeup mix up” which was actually a hair product this month.

  1. Starlooks Lip Liner $6- This lip liner is a darker pink shade, which is really lovely! It’s a retractable liner, and when I swatched it, it felt smooth and was pigmented. I’m impressed considering I have despised a few Starlooks products sent to me in the past.
  2. Coastal Scents Lipstick $5.95 (shade 15)- I have never tried a Coastal Scents lipstick before! This shade is a lovely deeper red though, and we all know I love red lipstick. The packaging is pretty cute as well.
  3. City Colour Be Matte Lipstick “Latte” $4.99- I’ve reviewed the City Color lipsticks before if you want to read it click here. In a nutshell, I love this formula. Very comparable to Melt Cosmetics, and Latte is a really lovely nude shade! I think I might have to pair it with a darker liner so it won’t wash me out, but it’s a nice cool toned nude.
  4. Oscar Blandi Hair Masque $25+– This was a full sized deep hair conditioner! Mine was a bit busted at the bottom, but it’s no big deal. I was actually in need of some deep conditioner, so it’s as if Lip Monthly read my mind this month.

Total Value of the bag- 41.94+

Overall thoughts- I love that there were two lipsticks in this month’s bag. Sometimes I’ll get lip balms and chapstick, and I don’t personally use those often. I like being able to try out lipsticks and lip liners for less than going to individual sites. I do love Lip Monthly as a whole, and I have personally never had an issue with them. I think that they have grown a lot in terms of products over the past year, though I can tell on social media that their customer service might need a bit more developing.

You all know I try to keep it as honest as possible, and I’m just being honest. Do your research and ask questions, especially if you’re thinking about signing up for anything that could be long term.

However, if you’re wanting to subscribe, I do have a referral link: https://lipmonthly.com//referral/VOTA7OjQCCz1

You can use the code “LipLover” to get your first bag for $5 as well!

As always, thank you for stopping by and reading this post! I hope you’re all having lovely days!

October Lip Monthly Unbagging

october lip monthly

Hey lovelies,

I know I’m doing two unbaggings in a row, but next week is the week of Halloween so I want to save that week for some cute makeup looks and more Fall tutorials! So, today I want to share with you all what I received in my Lip Monthly bag.

Lip Monthly is a monthly beauty subscription that now costs $12.95 per month. You get 4 full sized products, 3 being lip products and there’s always a “makeup mix up” that isn’t a lip product. On average, their bags are high value and most I’ve gotten have been worth $40+. There is almost always a code to get your first bag for $5 floating around as well on Instagram!

Even better, starting in November subscribers will be able to choose the shades they get in their bag, and they’re starting a rewards program! I’m stoked about this new addition to their service. I’m a bit picky when it comes to the shades I wear, and being able to choose will be awesome. Give me all the reds.
Okay, let’s get on to the unbagging:

1. Pencil Me in Eyeliner in One Cent This is a full sized product that retails at $6.99. I’ve received an eyeliner from this brand before, but I wasn’t a fan of the color. However, I really love this color. I like this formula and it doesn’t tug on my eyes at all, and this shade is right up my alley! It’s a shimmery copper shade which is very flattering for green eyes, so I can’t wait to include this in a few fall looks!

2. Lord & Berry Lip Crayon in Sensual This crayon retails at $16, which is a lot for this tiny lip crayon. However, this color, like it’s name, is pretty sensual. It’s a really pretty muted red shade, so if you’re someone that doesn’t like bright reds but enjoys the look of a sultry muted red for Fall, this is a good one! I do have another one from this brand, and now that I have two I might do an official review, what do you all think?

3. Hikari Crayon in Mandarin This chubby lip crayon retails at $14, but I don’t quite understand this shade being in the October bag. It’s orange-y but more in a Summer sense and not in a Fall sense. I don’t really see myself pulling this out until Spring, but it is a lovely shade and it swatched very smoothly, which means it will probably be very hydrating.

4. J.Cat Lipstick in Auburn This is the lowest value item at $2.99, but probably the product I love the most in this bag. Weird, right? I’ve been wanting to try more J.Cat lipsticks ever since the concealer shade Lip Monthly sent everyone (no fiascos like that since then, thankfully) because these seem promising. I adore this shade. It’s so beautiful, and I nearly gasped when I swatched it. Okay, I do that often because I have a serious lipstick addiction and when something swatches smoothly and is a gorgeous shade, my heart flutters. Don’t judge me.

Well, that’s everything I got in my Lip Monthly bag! If you’re curious about past bags, I do have quite a few reviews of their brand that include things about their customer service on my blog as well, just use the search bar on the right hand side of my page and search “Lip Monthly.” I’ve gotten some pretty awesome things in this bag, and some duds. That’s the risk I take with loving beauty subscriptions so much though. This month’s bag retails at $39.98, which is pretty high value, but not as high as usual.

I am really happy overall with this bag. Let me know if there’s anything you all would love to see a lip swatch or short mini review of!

As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days!

September Lip Monthly Unbagging

september lip monthly

Hey lovelies,

Another month, another subscription bag! I know that I usually do my Ipsy unbagging first, but I am currently waiting for that to get to me. I came home to an empty pink envelope (I assume someone took my actual glam bag) but Ipsy was kind enough to send me another! So, in the meantime, I will share what I got in my Lip Monthly bag this month!

If you’re unfamiliar with Lip Monthly, they’re a beauty subscription that now costs $12.99 per month, but on average you get $50+ worth of stuff, and most of the products are full sized.

This month I recieved 3 full sized items and 1 sample sized item.

Jing Ai Lip Jewel in “Pink Star” $22 I’ve actually gotten one of these before in a past bag, but I am not unhappy to get another! These are actually really smooth and pretty pigmented for a lip crayon. I like when Lip Monthly sends these weird not as known brands because this is something I would have never thought to try myself, and it’s pretty awesome!

Noyah Gloss in “Summertime Peach” $6 Okay, this item disappointed me. It’s a really tiny sample which always gets lost with my black hole of teensy samples, and peach just isn’t a shade I want right now. It’s not Summer anymore. I really hope next month we get some Fall things. There was a coupon code attached for 20% off though which was nice.

Jelly Pong Pong Highlighting Pen $17.95 The last thing from Jelly Pong Pong I couldn’t really use, but this I might be able to. I like to use highlight pens like the Nyx wonder pencil to carve out my brows and highlight them, so that’s what I will use this one for! It swatched a really pretty peachy color and felt smooth, so I’m excited to try it!

Be a Bombshell Lip Crayon “Shameless” $16 I’ve gotten a lot of be a Bombshell products from beauty subscriptions in the past, and I actually like their brand! I’ve been using the lip balm I got by them in an Ipsy bag for a few months now, so getting a new product to try is awesome. This is a really pretty berry shade that does remind me of Fall. It swatched really smooth on my arm so we’ll see if it does that well on my lips!

Swatches from Left to Right:

lip monthly september

Noya peach gloss, Jing Ai lip jewel, Be a Bombshell Lip Crayon, Jelly Pong Pong Highlighting pen

Total bag value: $61.95

This was a really high value bag this month! Let me know what your thoughts are on this bag, and let me know if there’s anything you all would want to see a separate review on!

As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having lovely days!

Ipsy July 2015: Summer Lovin’

ipsy

Hey beauties,

How is everyone? Anyone else getting rained in this Summer? I feel like all it’s done this Summer is rain. I’m not totally complaining, I don’t go outside much in the Summer. However, the humidity is making me want to toss mattresses out my window. The one thing I hate more than heat is humidity. It’s an asthmatic’s enemy.

So, getting my cute pink bubble wrap envelope filled with ipsy goodies was a welcomed surprise. If you’re unfamiliar with Ipsy, it’s a beauty subscription that costs $10 per month. The products are supposed to be catered to each persons interests, and there are typically 4-5 full sized or sample sized products. My bag typically arrives in the middle of the month, but it differs for a lot of people depending on where they live.

This month I received 5 cute things, and I am excited to share them with you all! Typical disclaimer, my referral code is linked at the end of the post, but my opinions on these products are honest and my own. I buy this subscription every month myself, and anyone can refer people with Ipsy!

IMG_7980

City Color HD Loose Setting Powder- So, I thought this was full sized, but the full sized version has 7 grams of product, and this one has 4. Still, that’s a whole lot of powder! This is a translucent setting powder that claims to be finely milled and blurs out imperfections. I haven’t tried this out yet, but I may give my thoughts on it in this week’s “face of the day” if I get around to using it! I’m really happy that I got this in my bag. I love powders! If this doesn’t work out for my face, it will probably still get used if I want to change a glossy lipstick to a matte lipstick or to clean up around my lips when I’m doing lip swatches.

IMG_7981

Octavio Molina Sea Salt Hair Spray- Not gonna lie, I am not happy to see hair products in my bags at times. My hair is very curly naturally, and not many products that are sent work for me. However, I will try this one out. It claims to give hair texture while also keeping is moisturized. That’s a mighty high claim for hair like mine, so I will put it to the test. I do like sea salt sprays even though I hate touching my hair afterwards. It feels gross to me. Anyone else feel that way?

IMG_7982

Be a Bombshell Lip Balm in “French Kiss”- I was a wee bit sad that I didn’t get the Ruby shade, but this one is nice as well. I’ve received a few products from Be a Bombshell, and I like their brand as a whole! This is a full sized product, and it claims to keep lips hydrated while giving a little color to the lips. The shade French kiss is a very light pink, so it just looks and feels like your typical balm. I do like it. It’s a nice little balm to throw in your bag on the go to hydrate your lips if you’re wearing a matte lipstick. Would I pay $13 for this balm outside of getting it in my bag? Probably not, but I’m not a lip balm fanatic.

IMG_7986 IMG_7983

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer- When I saw this in my glam room, I kinda squealed. On the inside, of course. I feel like I never get the high end samples when they are sent out, but this time I got this little pretty! I’m not a huge bronzer fan, but I’m willing to try it because I do love Tarte! The packaging is stunning. The gold shimmer concerns me a bit with my skin tone, but I can probably use it as an eyeshadow if it is too warm.

IMG_7984

Eau Thermale Avene Soapless Gel Cleanser- When I first looked at this I thought Ipsy had sent me mouthwash. I probably would have preferred mouthwash. Skin products are so weird for me because my skin is so sensitive, so I’m hesitant about putting new things on my face because my skin is finally recovering and looking nice after the hormone tornado that happened to me after I had my second daughter. I may try it, but I might put it to the side and forget about it. Sorry, buddy.

A quick Ipsy Tip- I’ve been getting asked how I’ve gotten pretty good bags several months in a row now and the answer is simple! Do the surveys and rate your products every month. Seriously, it’s that simple. The ratings will ask if you liked the product and if you enjoy that type of product. I’m assuming at that point it will update your profile in whatever database they use to help cater your bag to your wants and needs. I have been getting way better bags since I now rate everything every month, not to mention you get free points by doing so! It’s not a guarantee that you will love every product, but I’ve been happy with almost everything lately.

That’s everything that I got this month! Oh wait, I did get another JCat Liptitude in “Blow your mind” since it was part of the points rewards, but I’m saving that for the review I’m filming of all the shades I have!

I hope you all enjoyed this post, and if you’re new here I hope you decide to stick around! Emails for my blog are free to sign up for *nudges*

I will have my review for July’s Lip Monthly bag coming up soon as well since I’m still waiting for it to arrive! In the meantime, what did you all receive in your Ipsy bags if you get them? Tell me or link me to your posts down below!

Have a good day, lovelies.

Unboxing: Target Summer Beauty Box

summer target beauty box

Hey beauties,

Today I have an unboxing! I will be showing you all what I got in my Target Beauty Box this Summer. Every season, Target releases beauty boxes that have deluxe sample sizes and full sized products, and are pretty high value. They are usually $7, and the shipping is free, and if you have a Target debit card you can snag an extra 5% off! There is no true “subscription” with this box, and it’s on a first come, first serve basis. I will say that these boxes sell out very quickly every time they’re released, so if you ever see one in stock and want it, just get it.

This season’s bag was valued at $40, and I received 5 items in my bag. I think that for the most part everyone received the same scheme of products with some variances here and there.

Without further adieu, let’s get on to the the unboxing!

IMG_7259

1. Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Styling Creme– Deluxe sample size valued at about $6. I love Fekkai products! They’re a bit out of my price range, so getting big samples like these makes me so happy. I’m really excited to try this one because it claims to tame frizzy hair, and boy do I need that in the Summer time in the humid South. This is one of the products that I’ve seen vary between boxes.

2. Olay Regenerist Luminous Hydraswirl Eye Cream– This is actually the product that caught my eye the most when I ordered this box online. This is a full sized product and retails at $23! I have tried this out a few times, and I do like it. It’s unscented and gives a nice glow to my under eyes, cancelling out the purple that’s naturally under my eyes.

3. Sinful Colors Nail Polish “Boom Boom”– The retail value of this is $1.99, and though this is a lovely pink shade, I don’t wear pink nail polishes often. I may be setting this one aside for an upcoming giveaway *wink wink*

4. Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in “Gladiolus-” Retail of this is $8, and it’s full sized! I haven’t had a chance to wear this shade on my lips yet, but I have swatched it and it felt very smooth and buttery!

5. Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Wipes– There are 3 of these in the box and that comes to about a little over $1. I have used one the pads already, and I put it to the test with a deep burgundy shade, and it cleared all the polish off in with one pad! I was impressed, and I will use these up. Will I repurchase? Probably not for awhile since I have loads of acetone stored away, but these are very nice.

Total Box Value: $40

There were also 2 coupons in this box, one for $3 off a $15 beauty purchase at Target (can also be stacked with manufacturers coupons as well) and a $1 off a Revlon product.

Overall, I’m really happy with this seasons beauty box! Did you snag one or more of these boxes? What did you get? Will you be getting one in the future?

As always, thank you for reading, and I hope you are all having wonderful days!

Ipsy April 2015: Beautifully Bohemian

ipsy glam bag

Hey everyone!

It’s that time of the month again…beauty subscription time, that is. I got my Ipsy bag in the mail, and let me start off by saying I was actually excited to get every item this month! That rarely happens! I really wanted the Elizabeth Arden lipstick, but it’s okay because I got some other awesome goodies this month!

If you’re new here, Ipsy is a beauty subscription that is $10 a month and sends out 4-5 full sized or deluxe sample sized products that are catered to your beauty quiz.

Alright, so this month’s theme is “beautifully bohemian” and I’m guessing that has something to do with all these odd Coachella vibes. Am I the only person that didn’t know what Coachella even was until recently? I had no idea it had something to with music, I thought it had something to do with Coach purses. I’m not kidding.

Anyway, the bag this month is probably my favorite bag of all time. It’s textured to feel like a straw bag and has an adorable weave design on it. I will not be giving this one to my toddler, it’s going in my purse to be used as a makeup bag. That’s right, it’s true love.

hikari blush

This is the first thing I had to take out and admire. I have gotten a few Hikari lipsticks, but this month Ipsy sent out full sized Hikari blushes! I got the shade “tango” which is super bright, but oh so lovely. I will probably have to use a light hand since my skin is the shade of paper, but I feel this shade will look so stunning on those with darker complexions. It’s very pigmented and buttery to the touch. I can’t wait to include this in a few Spring and Summer looks! I know that bright cheeks aren’t for everyone, but I love bright cheeks (probably obvious).

IMG_6085

Everyone got a shadow from The Balm’s “Nude Dude” palette, and I got the shade “Fit” which is a very pretty bronzey shade. I love The Balm as a brand, and this little shadow is so adorable. I’m not too into bronze shades, but one of my goals this year is to wear more warm toned looks, so I will use this for sure. Or, you know, try…

IMG_6086

This is a product I was happy to see in my bag…until I swatched it. This is a Starlooks mini gloss in the shade “cuddle”, and when I opened it I was like, “Hell yes, smells like cake,” and then when I swatched it I hated the color and feel of it. It’s a really shimmery pink-brown color and those just don’t look flattering on me, in my opinion. That and from what I felt on the back of my hand it felt sticky and thick, and I truly don’t like sticky and thick glosses. I have not put it on my lips yet, so maybe it will feel different on my lips. The claim on ipsy’s site is that this formula is supposed to be non-sticky. If anything, this will go in my “free for all” basket for friends and family, which is also cool.

IMG_6084

Jor’el Parker perfume in “Femina”

When I saw this perfume in my bag I thought “eh” but when I got it I was suprised by the size of it! It’s a pretty big sample and has a roller ball on it. I haven’t tried it yet because I have to be careful with perfumes due to my allergies, but I took a baby whiff and it smelled very lovely. It’ll probably be one I put into my purse this Summer in case I smell like baby barf at some point. The scent is a very pretty floral scent, which is what I like to smell like. I want to smell like a bouquet of flowers, but just a bit. I don’t want to smell like I’ve been trapped in a basement of flowers for 3 years. There’s something about flowers that makes me feel fresh and enchanting. Okay, I’m rambling…sorry.

IMG_6087

Last, I got the Hey Honey facial serum. I am a serum fanatic since my skin is dry, and I am really excited to smear this on my face! I typically use a serum every morning to even my skin tone out and help my foundation apply better, and it does help a ton! I put a bit on the back of my hand and rubbed it in and the texture of this serum seems so promising. The spot on my hand that this was on felt like a baby’s butt. So soft.

Update: I did use this on my face and I am hooked! I love the smell and the way my makeup lays once I can sit down and put it on. I looked up the full sized product…a whopping $41. However, with the 20% coupon code I may end up getting the full sized if I use this sample and still like it. Skin care is worth splurging on.

Anyway, that was everything that I got this month! I only had one flop this month, which is awesome compared to most other months for me. This is probably one of my all time favorite bags so far. I mean that blush….gahhhhh! I can’t wait to play with these products.

If there is anything that any of you want to see used in a “face of the day” post or see an individual review on, please let me know! If you’re subscribed to Ipsy, tell me about what was in your bag? Link your posts or just comment with what ya got!

As always, thanks for reading and if you’re new I hope you decide to stick around!

Next posts coming up will be about my Lip Monthly Bag, Spring Target Beauty Box, and probably more Face of the Day posts!

Lip Monthly March 2015

Look, a wild subscription bag appears!

I have another Lip Monthly post to share with you all. As always, these are my honest and personal thoughts. I am in no way sponsored or affiliated with Lip Monthly!

lip monthly march

If you don’t know what Lip Monthly is, they’re a fairly new subscription service that’s aimed towards people that love lip products (hey, that’s me!). It’s $10 per month, and typically bags arrive in the middle of the month, closer to the end of the month. Lip Monthly has had some odd moments that I have mentioned before, but they seem to be more consistent now.

I have to give a business props when they listen to their customers and aim to be more consistent. Does that mean they are perfect? No, but I am happy to see their team learning and growing as a business.

This month’s bag was their typical blue bag. Or rather, another bag for my toddler’s collection. Harmony honestly loves when I give her the bags and boxes from my beauty subscriptions. She has her own purse and she puts them all in there with her baby diapers and babies and carries them around with pride.

Anyway, the theme for this month is Spring, obviously. Spring themes and colors tend to annoy me after a bit, but I had a harsh winter physically and emotionally, so I have been welcoming all the colors.

Basically, when I opened this bag it’s like Spring just threw up all over the place. Okay, I’m exaggerating a bit, but this month is very pink…and bright. So, let’s get into what’s actually in the bag this month.

IMG_5437

Hikari Lipstick- $13 I’ve received a Hikari lipstick from Lip Monthly before, and I actually adore the formula of these lipsticks. They’re creamy and have a really nice finish on them that isn’t too glossy, and not too drying. The shade is “Crush” which is a super bright pink. I’m trying to explore my color range a bit and incorporate more pinks, so I may save this one for summer.

Jordana Lip Glaze- $1.99 This product didn’t impress me as much since I can pop into Walgreens and buy this, but it is really nice. I like Jordana lip products, and I haven’t tried any of the lip glazes yet. The smell is wonderful and very fruity. It’s glittery and when I was swatching it on my arm it went on very smoothly and had a sheer, shimmery finish. This will make a nice lipstick topper, or can be worn alone on days when I just need a little color on the go. The shade I got in my bag is “Raspberry.”

JCat Lip Crayon $3.99- The last JCat product Lip Monthly sent out was a total flop, but this one is not. I thought the color was red and my heart skipped a bit, but the outside is a bit deceiving. The color itself is beige with a bit of orange in it. This product is probably the most “me” colored in this bag, and I’m actually excited to try this out alone and with some of my newer glosses on top of it.

Let to right: Hikari "Crush", JCat Lip Pencil "Caramel Mocha," Jordana Lip Glaze "Raspberry."

Let to right: Hikari “Crush”, JCat Lip Pencil “Caramel Mocha,” Jordana Lip Glaze “Raspberry.”

Sally Hansen Nail Polish- $1.99 (Kmart Price)
Once again, this is a brand I can go to Kmart or Walgreens to find. However, this is a very bright and pretty color. The shade is “Mighty Mango” and it’s a very bright coral type of shade. Not one that I will wear on my nails, but it will look cute on my toes this Spring and Summer!

Total Bag Value: $21

Eh, not the best and not the worst. The total bag value wouldn’t bother me as much if there had been different brands other than popular drugstore brands in it.

I’m still on the fence about Lip Monthly as a whole. I want to like them, but at the same time I feel like I’m mostly getting things that I won’t use. I’ve gotten a few gems (like my Magnolia Lipstick and Ofra liquid lipstick) but a lot of items that I don’t use or like.

I would like to see a possible quiz for this subscription to better fit individuals and more of a brand variety, but I also know that they are still relatively new and it takes a bit to build up a brand base that will sell wholesale.

If you have Lip Monthly, what are your thoughts on them? Know of any other beauty subscriptions aimed towards lip product addicts for me to look into?
If there’s anything in particular that you all want to see reviewed, let me know!

Walmart Beauty Box Spring 2015

walmart beauty box

Hello, beautiful people!

This plain box arrived at my doorstep last week. What’s in it? Well, if you’re as nosy as I can be at times, I’m about to explain 😉

I have mentioned the Walmart Beauty Box before, it’s just a box you can sign up for on walmart.com and it’s actually free, you just pay for shipping ($5). It arrives every season (every 3 months) and it just has cute little samples in it. I actually quite like this subscription box. They always come with coupons, and honestly coupons are sometimes better than samples. At least with coupons I can pick out what I want and what will fit me best, and get it cheaper.

These were the biggest things in the box. I received a sample of a Dove body wash, which I actually love Dove body wash. A sample sized shampoo and conditioner set. This says it’s for “dry and depleted hair” which I kinda have thanks to years of dying it, so I will actually be trying that instead of forgetting about them like I tend to do.

There’s a baby sample of a neutrogena facial wash. I actually don’t like neutrogena face washes very much, I think they dry my skin out too much. I also got a sample perfume (with a sprayer!) of a Lady Gaga perfume. Here’s to hoping it smells eccentric and lavish.

The only full sized makeup item this time seems to be this Rimmel lash accelerator mascara. I’m always on the hunt for a good mascara, so I will for sure be trying this out once I use up my other mascaras.

Next thing I noticed…foil packets and coupons galore.

I imagined Oprah packing these boxes shouting, “Here’s a foil packet for you! And you! And you! EVERYONE GETS FOIL PACKETS!”

I have no problem with foil packets, I just don’t use them. However, I have been wanting to try the new Maybelline foundation. I don’t think that’s my shade, but I will try it anyway. The garnier sleep cream seems really cool too.

Oh look…more coupons and foil packets.

In all, there were $14 worth of coupons in my box! Plus the full sized mascara and other samples, this box was a pretty high value.

I enjoy this beauty box, and because it only arrives every 3 months I kinda forget about it and then it’s like Christmas when I do get it!

Maybe I just have a bad memory…

If there’s anything in this post that would like to see a review on, please let me know!
As always, thank you for reading and I hope you stick around for a bit!

Ipsy Bag March 2015

IMG_5222

Hello, lovelies

I have had a bittersweet relationship with Ipsy at times, but lately I have been pretty impressed with their bags, so today I wanted to share what I received in my March 2015 bag.

If you don’t know what Ipsy is, it’s a beauty subscription that costs $10 a month and they send you 4-5 full sized or deluxe sample sized makeup/skincare/hair products. I’ve been subscribed to them for over two years now, minus the few months I got too upset with them and cancelled.

I went back to them. I just feel that they are the best subscription I’ve come across that doesn’t cost $20+ dollars. I love trying things out, and I have discovered some incredible products through Ipsy.

This month’s theme was “Floral Fantasy” because yes…Spring is in the air. Can you smell it? Don’t sniff too hard, you may end up sneezing #allergyproblems. I think the bag for this month is probably one of my favorites of all time. It’s super cute. I use these bags for everything. Snacks, makeup, diaper bag nessecities, you name it.

Moving on, here’s what was in my bag this month:

1. Nyx Butter Lipstick in “Hunk” I was honestly so so excited when I saw this product in my glam room! I already own a few of the butter lipsticks, and I adore the formula! They’re very creamy and pigmented. I think this color is right up my alley. It’s not too bright, yet it’s still a very Spring type of color.

2. Dr. Brandt Pores No More Mattifying Lotion So, this is one of the items in my bag that I don’t quite understand why I got it. I retook my quiz which clearly states that I have very dry skin…so why send me a mattifying lotion? My skin does get a bit more oily in spring and summer though, so I may end up using it. I’ll at least try it despite scratching my head a bit over why I got this.

3. Boo-Boo Cover Up Okay, I was so excited to get this until I read the shade. I got the shade “medium” and that’s not my shade whatsoever? The product itself looks so awesome, so I’m really sad that chances are I’ll have to pass it on to someone and not even try it.

Dear Ipsy,
What’s the point in having a beauty quiz if you’re going to send me products that aren’t my skin tone?

Love,

A Confused Ipster

4. Vintage by Jessica Liebeskind Illuminating Face Highliter This is probably the product I was most excited about getting this month. I’m a highlighter addict. This highlighter is a super gorgeous pink, and even though I’m a bit too fair skinned to pull off pink highlighters, I’m going to use it as a blush topper. It could also be a gorgeous eyeshadow. I’ll find a purpose for it. It’s too pretty not to use.

5. Pur-lisse Gentle Soymilk Cleanser and Makeup Remover I have gotten a few pur-lisse products in the past, namely their very expensive moisturizer. I had about 3 of the samples saved up and I finally finished them all off a few weeks back. I really loved the moisturizer, so I’m excited to try this cleanser out.
