Swatch Saturday: Revealed Smoky Palette

coastal scents revealed smoky

Hey beauties,

I feel like I don’t get to do swatch Saturday posts as often as I formally did, but I have a really exciting one to share today! I’ll be showing swatches of the brand new Coastal Scents Revealed Palette and giving my very first impressions.

Did anyone else squeal when they saw bloggers revealing this and putting it next to the Urban Decay Smoky palette? Because I totally did. If you’re unfamiliar with Coastal Scents, they create Revealed palettes that come with 20 shades each, and many times the shades are dupes for Urban Decay Naked shades.

If you’re new to my blog, I’m obsessed with the Revealed 2 palette. I use it over many of the high end palettes. It’s so awesome. I recently did a tutorial with the Revealed Palette, which is also a great palette to have if you’re into cool tones. I don’t have the Revealed 3 because it didn’t appeal to me, and it didn’t get great overall reviews. So, when I saw Thataylaa rave about this…I knew I was going to order it the day it came out. We all know how much I love a great smokey eye. I’m still not sure why Coastal Scents also spelled Smoky wrong like Urban Decay did though.

Anyway, the packaging of this palette is my favorite so far. It’s got that marble type smoke look to it, and it just looks really clean despite it being in cardboard, in my opinion. Yes, this is a cardboard type palette, so it’s not like the gorgeous packaging of the Naked Smoky one.

This palette is only $19.95 though, and comes with almost twice as many shades. Right off the bat, I noticed this palette had a decent mixture of matte and shimmer shades. Something that is always important to me in palettes is whether or not there’s both matte and shimmer. An all matte palette can look a bit flat, and an all shimmer palette can lack dimension and depth.

I don’t own the Naked Smoky palette, so I can’t compare quality or shades, but as an overall darker type of palette, I love this. I think Coastal Scents did a great job at making sure there were darker and lighter shades. There’s a really nice cool toned transition shade and cream shade. My initial thoughts before swatching were, “I can create daytime and night time smokey eyes with this. Heck yes.”

After I swatched every shade, my mind was made. This palette is awesome so far! There are no shade names, but the left picture is swatches from the top row, and the right from the bottom row.

The only shades that took a bit of work for me to swatch were the cream shade and the the navy blue shade. The navy shade was a bit patchy and had to be built up, but I’m not saying it’s a total dud, and neither is the cream shade. They just took a bit of work.

The shimmer shades in this palette swatched like a dream though! Very smooth, and the only one that was a little too buttery and crumbled a bit was the deep taupe shade on the bottom row.

The dark brown and gray shades in this palette are to die for. I used those in my look for my Black Moon Cosmetics Review, and they blended out so easily, and were very pigmented. The shades didn’t get muddy on me, which is a pet peeve of mine regarding darker themed palettes. I don’t enjoy when all the shades look pretty in the palette and then when you go to swatch them they all look the same. I didn’t experience that feeling while swatching these. There’s always that one shade for me in Revealed palettes that steals my heart, and in this one it’s the dark gray shade. It’s so perfect.

However, I’m a fan of all these shades and I can’t wait to create more looks and tutorials using it! Winter is almost here, which means panda smokey eyed Kayla will come out to play way more often. Or maybe alien Kayla. Definitely both.

Do I feel this palette is worth it? Yes, I really do.As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t own the Naked Smoky palette, and I don’t know if I will ever end up getting it. I’m not sure if I will need it now that I have this palette. If you own the Naked Smoky palette, you might not need this one as well. If you don’t own it, but you’re interested in a palette that has a dupe for every shade and has double the amount of shades for less than half the price…get it.

What are your thoughts on this palette? Will you be snagging this anytime soon or passing on it?  Tell me all about it!

J.Cat Beauty Lip Paints: Review + Lip Swatches

j.cat lip paint

Hey loves,

Today for Swatch Saturday I actually have a video! I have been trying out the J.Cat Beauty lip paints that I ordered for a bit now, and I finally sat down and did a review with lip swatches for my Youtube channel! Lip swatch videos are very intense, so I apologize if a few of the darker colors are not very pretty looking. My mouth was on fire towards the end.

IMG_7870

Anyway, just a little tidbit: J.Cat is a cruelty free and very affordable brand. They seem to have a ton of lip products, and I am impressed with almost everything I have tried, and I want to order more.

In the lip paint line, there are 36 colors. The packaging and color range is very reminiscent of the OCC lip tars. They are pretty different though. I would say the J.Cat lip paints are similar in concept and shade range, but pretty different in terms of the finish and lasting power. A few of these do go on patchy and need building up, but the ones that are patchy make incredible mixing shades! Overall, I do enjoy these lip paints and they are fun to play around with!

IMG_7869

I’m considering doing a separate video with all of my favorite mixing combinations using these. Please let me know if you would be interested in something like that, and what colors you would want to see me create! I do know a bit about color theory. Not enough to brag about, but enough to get by.

Everything else that you may need/want to know is in the description underneath the video! Please watch it and let me know what you think. Also, if you’re not subscribed to me please do so! I’m so close to 300 subscribers! So close, yet so far away.

PS- I know I spelled “review” wrong in the opening credit. Way to start a video, right? It was late, and I was tired. It happens, and I’m too lazy to delete a video and re-upload over one letter. That’s precious time that could be spent listening to music in my underwear. I’m totally kidding…

I hope you’re all having amazing days! I do plan on sitting down and catching up on comments very soon, so please don’t think I’m ignoring you! My daughters joint birthday party is this weekend and I’ve been fairly busy with that.

Swatch Saturday: La Girl Creme Lipsticks

la girl luxury creme lipstick

Hey beauties,

I feel like I haven’t done a Swatch Saturday post in ages. Okay, maybe like two weeks, but I really love doing swatch posts! Especially when lipstick is involved. Well, if lipstick is involved, I’m probably down. Today I’m going to be swatching 4 lipsticks that I don’t believe I have talked much about, and that’s the LA Girl creme lipsticks.

Everyone has been so obsessed with liquid and matte lipsticks (myself included) that I wanted to look in my collection and pull out some creamy lipsticks. Matte lipsticks aren’t for everyone, and even though I adore a great matte finish, I do like a nice moisturizing lipstick finish as well.

If you don’t know about LA Girl, they’re a brand that can be bought online at http://www.lagirlusa.com or can sometimes be found in select drugstores and Five Below stores. They are cruelty free, and very affordable.

They sell quite a few lipsticks, including liquid lipsticks, but I don’t see much on their Luxury Creme lipstick line. So, I’m going to swatch and talk about the 4 I have in my collection.

There are 24 shades in all that range from light nudes, red, and a black. I do love the range that LA Girl has in these lipsticks and I feel there is something for just about everyone.

Price: $4

Consistency: These are very creamy and hydrating.

Application: I personally like to apply these straight on the lips and then take a lip brush to evenly apply it the rest of the way. These pair best with lip liners because they are very creamy and therefore a bit slippery. I find that liners help my lipstick to “stick” and not get on my teeth as much. That and liners prevent the weird feathering thing that can happen with non-matte lipsticks.

Finish: As I’ve said possibly a million times, these are not matte, but they’re not too super glossy either. I like that about them. They’re kind of a happy medium, in my opinion.

Pigmentation: With all of the ones I swatched for this post I had no problems with the pigmentation. They went on smoothly and with no patchiness.

Packaging: I’m not a fan of the packaging. The packaging is a bit cheap (okay, very cheap) and a little flimsy. However, I will say that because the product inside is so good I can forgive cheap packaging. I can tell that LA Girl kind of sacrificed nice packaging for a great lipstick, and that’s okay in my book. I can respect that. If you’re a packaging snob (no judgement here, I am myself at times) then the packaging may bug you a bit too much with these.

Staying Power: Because these have a creamy texture and finish, you’re probably gonna have to reapply them throughout the day, especially if you eat and drink with it on.

Smell: I found that these don’t really have a smell, which is fine in my book.

Worth a try? In my opinion, yes. I really like LA Girl as a brand, and I think these are nice lipsticks to try out if you want to try pinks or reds, but don’t want to drop a ton of money on a higher end brand. The only things that bug me with these are the packaging because I end up getting lipstick all over the tube every time I apply one. That and if you rip the little sticker off completely you suddenly don’t know the name of the lipstick you’re putting on. That’s also annoying. Other than that, I really love the way these feel on the lips. Because there is shea butter and vitamin e in them they are very hydrating. Perfect to throw in your purse on a nice Spring or Summer day.

Swatches:

la girl amour

Amour: A very “nude” lipstick that looks almost brown on my skin tone. I did conceal my lips before these swatches so I could show you all the true color. I really like this color. It pairs well with “nude truffle” lip liner by Nyx. I know that not everyone is into the brown-nude thing right now, but I am. It’s my way of being “bold” at times without wearing a bright or odd colored lipstick.

IMG_6613

Be Mine: A very brown lipstick with just a tinge of red in it. I know this color can be intimidating for people with fair skin, but I happen to love this color. It has a very “marsala” tone to it, and pairs well with a warm and matte eye look.

IMG_6616

Promise: This is probably my favorite out of the 4 I own. It looks a wee bit different on my lips than it does swatched on my arm. It’s more of a plummy-berry color that’s bold, but not overpowering.

IMG_6617

Last Night: This is a shade I would probably never purchase myself, but I actually got it in my Lip Monthly bag last month. I quite like it now that I’ve tried it on. It’s pretty intimidating inside of the tube, but on the lips it’s a nice deep pink color. Still bright, but wearable if you’re afraid of pinks like I am.

Arm Swatches:

That’s it for today’s swatch Saturday post 🙂

Let me know if you all like this style/set up for lip swatches, and feel free to request lip swatches!

Too Faced Natural Matte Palette

too faced natural matte

Hey lovelies,

Today, I have another palette review! This is going to be about the relatively new Too Faced Natural Eyes Matte palette. Not to be mistaken with their original Natural Eyes palette (one of my personal favorites).

This palette is $36 on http://www.toofaced.com or on sephora.com, but I actually snagged this for 20% using a code from Ipsy. There are two new palettes right now on Too Faced, a matte one and a colorful one. You all know how much I love matte shadows…and neutrals, so yeah, I needed this one.

IMG_6320

too faced natural matte

First off, there are 9 shades in this palette. There are a couple of repeat shades from the original, but I don’t mind. The repeat shades are Heaven, Garter Belt, Sexpresso, and Nudie. I love those shades in the original, so I honestly don’t mind having duplicates of them. However, if that bugs you keep it in mind if you’re debating on getting this.

IMG_6319

This is the side by side comparison. Even though there are duplicate shades, these palettes are very different outside of the fact that the original has shimmer shades.

The shades that drew me in and basically seduced me were “chocolate cookie” and “honey butter.” Those shades just looked so damn pretty to me.

I do feel there is a good balance of warm and cooler shades in this palette.

The shadows did kick up a bit when I first tried them (mostly chocolate cookie) but it wasn’t too bad. The colors are still very blendable and buttery.

In terms of pigmentation, these are pretty pigmented, but maybe not as pigmented as my Kat Von D Shade + Light eye palette. I have a feeling I may be comparing every palette I buy this year to that one.

If I had to choose between the two for life threatening reasons, I would go with the Kat Von D one. Unless you’re a collector or just really freakin’ love palettes, you probably won’t need bother. Too Faced is my second favorite brand of all time though, so I wanted it for obvious personal reasons.

Hey, this is a non judging zone.

IMG_6290

Left to right: heaven, cashmere bunny, sexpresso, lace teddy, strapless, risque, nudie, honey butter, chocolate cookie

I did these swatches over no primer.

Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase and I don’t feel it’s a redundant thing for me to have, even though I already own the original. I feel the colors blend easily and look beautiful over primed eyelids. Chocolate cookie and Honey Butter are everything, in my opinion. I really love those two colors. This packaging is also very travel friendly.

Attached is a first impression with me using the shadows and a matte brown smokey eye tutorial 🙂
Enjoy, and subscribe to my channel if you want to!

I hope you all liked this post, and thanks for reading.

Lorac Skinny Nude Palette

lorace skinny nude

Hello, today I have a swatch post with review! I’ve had this palette for awhile now, and I’ve been meaning to review it and just kind of…forgot. I get distracted easily, mostly by lipstick. I feel bad that I forgot because this is a really cute little palette! If you’re interested, just keep reading!

So, this is my second every Lorac product ever. I bought the Vintage Vixen palette on Black Friday, and that palette is my baby. I keep that little gem in my “everyday” acrylic case so that it’s by my side at times that I’m sitting down doing my makeup.

I got an email saying that Hautelook was having a sale on Lorac products again, so I made sure to be at my computer when the sale started because I had my eyes on this palette. I went to go put it in my cart and got the dreaded “on hold” message and my heart stopped. I thought I had missed out on the one thing I wanted, but I was able to add it into my cart about 5 minutes later.

Hautelook really knows how to play with my emotions during makeup sales.

Anyway, this palette is so cute and compact. It comes in a nude shaded snakeskin case, and is the perfect size for traveling. There is a mixture of 7 shimmer and matte shades in this palette, and that in general makes my heart swell. I love a palette with a good balance between shimmer and mattes.

IMG_5221

Personally, I feel that any smaller palette meant to travel needs a few matte shades and a few “bam” shades to take a look from day time to night time. It doesn’t take a ton of shades in a palette to achieve that, it’s just about finding the right shades that truly compliment each other in multiple ways.

This little Lorac palette definetely delivers in that area. This is a very warm toned palette, so if warm tones aren’t your thing then you may want to steer clear.

IMG_5220

Pigmentation: These shadows are very pigmented, that was one of the first things I noticed when I swatched them on my arm. They all applied very smooth, and they are super buttery and creamy. Even the lightest matte shade showed up on my arm, and that rarely happens when I swatch cream shades on my skin. Color me impressed.

lorac skinny nude palette

Blendability: Pretty sure that word doesn’t exist, but we’re going to use it anyway today. These blend beautifully! I’m not too surprised after using the Vintage Vixen palette though. One of the reasons why I reach for that palette so often is because even though it’s all matte shades, all of the shades still blend like a dream. That and Lorac shadows are always constantly raved about on blogs and on youtube. It’s one brand that I understand why people are always hyping up in terms of shadows. These are very high quality.

Versatility: This palette can create a great range of looks! From matte day time looks to shimmery glamorous looks, the colors are there. I live for that camel brown and warm light brown shade in the palette. So damn gorgeous. I’m a neutral kind of person, whether it’s warm or cool tones, and this palette just makes my neutral little heart so happy.

Overall thoughts: I probably gave this away throughout the post, but I love this palette. It’s very high quality and the shadows are incredible. There is a great mixture of matte and shimmer shades to create both day time and night time looks, and the packaging makes it easy to travel with. I got this on sale off Hautelook for $15, and I know they’ve been on there several times before when Lorac was the featured brand. So, if you’re drooling over this pretty arrangement of eyeball colors, then definitely snag one during their next sale!

As always, thank you so much for reading and I hope you are all having wonderful days!

If you’re new here, please stick around if you wish to see more reviews and makeup fun!

Swatch Saturday: New Milani Fierce Foil Gloss

IMG_4753

It should be of no surprise by now that I adore Milani lip products. I feel that in terms of quality, Milani is superb with lip products. So, when I saw that they came out with yet another new lip product, I knew that eventually some of them would be mine. I went to CVS searching for my favorite eyelash glue, and I saw an untouched display with all of the new Fierce Foil glosses, and they were BOGO 50% off. I mean, how could I resist? It’s for the blog, obviously.
At my local CVS, these were $5.69, which is the same price as their original line of lip shine glosses. Definetely not gonna break the bank with these.

IMG_4757

The packaging of these is the same classy gold packaging as Milani’s past lip products, but I did notice right off the bat that these glosses are packed with glitter. That also caught my interest. I. Love. Glitter. Lately, I can’t get enough glitter. I want it on everything. Anyway, I picked up 2 of the nude shades and the red shade (obviously) but there were a few other shades. The first thing I noticed when I opened up the packaging to swatch these was the intense smell. These smell like straight up red velvet cake. I know that’s oddly specific, but they really and truly do. So, if strong vanilla smells are not for you then stay away from these.

Second thing I noticed while swatching these is that they are just very glittery, and not very “foiled.” I suppose the glitter is what they meant by foiled, and maybe they would appear to have a foiled effect in direct sunlight, but indoors these just look glittery. I have no problem with that. I find that the intense glitter would make these perfect toppers to create fun and creative makeup looks.

Arm Swatches:

IMG_4740

I did swatches on the back of my hand since the nudes are hard to differentiate on my lips.
Left to right: Venice (a more transparent shimmer) Rome (a beige toned shimmer) Florence (a red with a berry undertone shimmer)

I will say that these are very sticky, and like many lipglosses do tend to sneak onto teeth easily as well. I found that on the lips these can feel a bit gritty if you rub your lips together because of the glitter, but it wasn’t too noticeable in my opinion. Also, these wear pretty away pretty quickly and do leave glitter behind. I wiped my hand after I did the swatches and it looked like I had shook hands with an army of fairies. My hand looked pretty…and smelled like cake.

I digress. I did do some lip swatches even though it’s hard to tell the differences in the nude shades.

IMG_4737

Venice

IMG_4738

Rome

IMG_4739

Florence

Florence is my favorite one. I’m actually excited to play around with this shade and create some stellar intense red lip looks with it for Spring. I’m not a very pink person, so that’s the closest I can get to Spring related 😀

Overall, I find these glosses to be about as nice as their other glosses. Milani glosses are nice and not too sticky, in my opinion. The glitter in these may become annoying, and I don’t really see how these are supposed to be “foiled.” They just look super sparkly, which is okay…I like sparkly.

Has anyone else tried these? What were your thoughts and impressions?
As usual, thanks for reading and make sure to follow me if you want to see more reviews and makeup fun!

Halloween Clearance Find: Elf Beauty Books

The only thing that cheers me up after Halloween ends is the clearance shopping. The candy, the cute kid things…I am all about it. Typically I go after candy and things to prepare for next year, but I stumbled on a few of the Elf Halloween Beauty Books on an end cap for 50% off. I already own the Vampire one, and I love it. I actually just used it for the first time on Halloween to give my mom a glamorous witch makeup look, and I was incredibly impressed by the pigmentation of the shadows. I tried to use the false lashes, but I have never been a huge fan of the elf brand false lashes. They seem flimsy and hard to work with for me, but I have read where they do work for many others. So, I just wanted to go over them and do swatches and give my insight in case anyone has a Target nearby (where I found them) and can possibly score these as well. There were not many left when I got to my closest Target at 5 pm, so if you want some I would run to Target.

IMG_2548

First, these were normally $6 before Halloween. My local Target had all of their Halloween things for 50% off, making these $3 per book! I was able to snag Diva and Enchanted, but I am sad that I couldn’t find Wicked anywhere, because then I would have all 4 of them since I already have the Vampire book. I think these are sooo pretty. They are not thin and sleek at all, but pretty none the less.

IMG_2549

IMG_2551

This is the Diva book. This one is my favorite of the two I found. The colors in this book are so buttery and soft. The lighter shades are a bit chalky and didn’t come up very well in the swatches, but I am also super pale and I did not use primer to swatch them. The gloss this one comes with is a fuchsia colored gloss, but I am not a lip gloss fan at all so I will probably be passing that on to a friend.

IMG_2550

IMG_2552

This one is the Enchanted book, and while it is not my favorite, the colors are pretty. They’re just not colors that I use very often. Blues don’t typically work well with my eye color, but for $3 I will play around with them a bit. As you can probably tell by the swatches, some of the colors are kind of chalky and patchy. I don’t know how they will look with a primer though. The lip gloss color in this one is a very peachy-pink nude color.

Since I will probably be giving the lashes and gloss away, I am still very happy with these finds. The eyeshadows in both books are very pretty. I may try to go to another Target and find the Wicked book so I can have all of them. My personal favorite is the Diva book, and as mentioned earlier the Vampire book is so amazing. If you come across it, get it. Don’t even think about it…thank me later.

I just watched a video by KathleenLights on youtube saying that the little (usually useless) eyeshadow applicators can be used for ColourPop eyeshadows and work BETTER than your fingers! Mind. Blown.
If you have no idea what I am talking about, please check out ColourPop. I have a review on my blog on their eyeshadows.
Other things I found clearance shopping: a cupcake costume for Piper next year. Cheap costumes for Harmony’s dress up wardrobe, and candy for me.
Anyone else find some amazing Halloween clearance items? Tell me! I love hearing about bargains 😀

Fall favorites: Nail Polish

It’s finally starting to truly cool down in my city, and not just during the mornings. I think many of us know the struggle of it being cold in the morning, so you put on a sweater, and then by the afternoon you’re sweating and wanting to rip all of your clothes off.
Anyway, my blog today is all about my favorite fall colors. Some new, some older. All favorites. Warning: some colors look the same, but are just different enough to me. I wear mostly grays and reds…all year. The main difference between fall and summer colors (for me) is that fall colors are a bit darker. That’s just how it is, right? We will go with that.

IMG_2244.JPG

I don’t have too many to talk about, and there’s only two brands! I mostly use either Essie or wet n wild. Why? They’re easy for me to work with and their colors are always amazing and last on my nails. I’m not a huge nail polish collector, so I tend to stick with my favorite brands no matter what.

IMG_2247.JPG
This is what each swatch looks like without flash.
From left to right:
Wet n wild “Disturbia” I want to say this is a new color, but I’m not entirely sure. It’s a beautiful deep purple color though.

Wet n wild “Under Your Spell” this color is a bit hard to swatch because the swatch is not it’s true color. It’s a very brown toned red with a hint of glitter in it. This color requires some building, but it’s gorgeous after about 3 coats or so.

Wet n wild “Wet Cement” a darker gray color. I love this color, but even more so I love wet and wild nail polishes. The brushes from this line are so wide and easy to work with while applying. The price is also amazing given the quality ($1.99 on average).

Essie “Chinchilly” this is an older color, but it’s been a favorite of mine for awhile now. I actually wear it all year. I think a few other bloggers have talked about this color, but rightfully so. It’s a very neutral and light gray that goes with every fall outfit. I actually need to purchase a new one because this bottle is getting old and it’s getting hard to get polish on the brush.

Essie “Skirting the Issue” a very dark, but ox blood, shade of red. A bit more Boudreaux? Either way, this is a must for fall nail polishes, in my opinion. It’s dark without being too “vampy” for those that don’t like the super dark looks.

Essie “Wicked” probably my all time favorite color of nail polish. Ever. It’s a true ox blood red and looks almost black. It’s so gorgeous. I am in need of a new bottle because I’ve seriously almost used all of it.

Essie “Stylenomics” this could be more of a holiday color? I don’t know, but it is a favorite of mine this time of the year. It’s a very deep green color. The only shade of green nail polish that I own, honestly. It’s so beautiful on the nails, and probably would pair well with all of the holiday looks coming up soon.

IMG_2246.JPG

IMG_2245.JPG

These are a couple of pictures of the swatches with flash, since without flash it’s a bit difficult to tell what the true colors are. The nail polishes I’ve talked about today are just a few of my favorites. What are some of your favorite fall nail polishes? Any brands that you can’t live without that I should try?

First impression: more ColourPop!

IMG_2174(1)

Eek! I’m really excited about this first impressions review because if you’ve been following me for awhile you’ll know that I ADORE ColourPop cosmetics eyeshadows. I will link the post at the end for those that haven’t seen it and are interested though.
Anyway, ColourPop recently released their new line of lipsticks (lippie stix) and I had to get my hands on some. Even better, when I went to put in my order ColourPop had released a brand new deep burgundy color called “creature.” All of the lippie stix have corresponding lippie pencils. I have never had many lip pencils, but lately I have been buying them more often when I see a good deal because they do indeed help your lip color to last longer and prevent colors from sliding around and fading. I only ordered one lippie pencil, and I will explain why later.
These lippie stix come in matte, satin, and glossy finishes. Because it’s fall, and I am typically all about that matte life to begin with, I only ordered matte shades. I wanted to be sure I would fall (see what I did there?) in love the ones I ordered before I go out of my comfort zone. I know, story of my life. I like my box. My box is safe. I also ordered one more eyeshadow that I’ve had my eye on for a bit, and I will also give a swatch for that.

Okay, first I am going to go over swatches of the colors I received.

IMG_2130
(from left to right)

Bichette- I am going to be honest for a second, I mostly bought this for the epic name. Lipstick collector problems. This is a beautiful matte cool toned red though. It is pretty dark, but not too dark. It’s more of a cherry red. As if I needed anymore matte red lipsticks, but none are named Bichette…so this was a need.

Creature- a deep matte burgundy red. This is the newest color released by ColourPop, and it was right in time for the true transition into fall. I adore this color. It’s so dark and reminds me of a vampy wine shade. I mostly ordered for this color along with the pencil, but because you get free shipping with a $30 purchase I went ahead and ordered the others I wanted to try…because I’m a lipstick addict.

Creature pencil- this was the only corresponding lip pencil I ordered since I was actually in need of a pencil this dark. I love the color of this pencil and have a feeling I will be reaching for it often to go under my lipstick this fall and winter.

Pitch- a dark matte brown. This is actually a very different and new color that I am adding to my collection of colors. I have been wanting to experiment a bit with darker brown shades this fall. I am very drawn to brown in general lately in terms of lip products. I may try to pair this color with the creature pencil and see what I get out of it.

Leather- a very dark matte purple. I bought this color for a couple of reasons. One, because it’s so damn pretty. Two, I need a dark purple to go underneath some of my patchier lip colors like the Nyx soft matte lip creams. Instead of getting the pencil I opted for the lipstick to see if it wouldn’t make the Nyx matte creams as dry and patchy looking on my lips. Stay tuned for the results.

The lippie stix and pencils all retail at $5 each. And as mentioned in a previous post, ColourPop is cruelty free and made in California. I love the formula of the lippie stix that I ordered. They’re matte, but they do go on very easily and don’t look patchy on the lips or make them feel dry, which can be an issue with many matte formulas.

I only got one eyeshadow this time. I ordered Amaze since it was one that I kind of wanted last time, and then regretted not getting it after reading the amazing reviews about the color.

It’s such a beautiful golden shimmery brown. This swatch was with only one swipe of my finger with NO PRIMER. Seriously, I die over the quality of these shadows.

I ended up playing around with these lippies for a bit and came up with a few looks. I used the “creature” pencil and filled my lips in entirely and then put “pitch” on top of it. I adore the results. It’s a very dark bourdeaux-type color.

I am in love with this combo. It was extremely long lasting as well. I ate a stuffed bell pepper (messy as shit, but delicious) and my lipstick stayed in place for the most part and only required a bit of touching up. I will say that this stained my lips a bit, and after a long day of wearing it I had to scrub my lips to fully take the color off. To do so, I just mixed coconut oil, sugar, and vitamin e oil together and scrubbed my lips when I exfoliated my face (I do so every Sunday) and it took it right off. So yeah, these matte shades mean business. Very long lasting.

In all, I love these lippie stix. I think they are beautiful and worth the $5. I will probably be ordering more in the future, probably more mattes and maybe a few satins. I wish I could say that I am a glossy finish kind of girl, but sadly I am not for the most part. Anyone reading this tried the lippie stix yet? If so, which colors are your favorites and do you have any recommendations for me to try myself? Thank you so much for reading! Please visit again, or visit some of my other recent posts!

Lastly, do you like the combo I created on my lips in this post? Please feel free to suggest a color for me to try on my lips this week for a possible “face of the day” post, but chances are I will be playing around and posting more about these lipsticks since I adore them so much.

I was not paid or given products for this review. These products were purchased by me and these are my honest opinions of them.
