My Pretty Zombie Snap Cats Charity Set

IMG_5656

Hello beauties,

I have something fun and exciting to share today! The owner of My Pretty Zombie (one of my personal favorite indie brands) contacted me and asked if I was interested in swatching and creating looks using her limited edition set for April. I was so honored and instantly agreed!

I’ve been ordering from My Pretty Zombie for awhile, and her loose shadows are some of my favorites. I ordered the limited edition shadow in “Ojo De Gato” last year, actually.

This set releases April 1, and there are only 40 sets like the one above available, so it’s very limited. Each set comes with a full sized shadow called Bear, a sample bag of Ojo De Gato, a nail polish to match Ojo De Gato, and a lipstick.

Each set is $21, and all the proceeds will go towards an organization called SNAP Cats. Snap Cats works to rescue special needs and elderly cats, which are usually the first ones put down in shelters, because they are not viewed as “adoptable.” Anyone that knows me well knows that anything to do with cats, specifically rescue cats, is near and dear to me. I support any organization that works to save lives, even when shelters feel they won’t find a home.

If you are an international babe that still wants this set, the owner is selling a set that doesn’t include the polish for $12. If you don’t want a set, but you still want to help out, the shadows Bear and Ojo De Gato will be available all month long.

As for the products themselves, none of them disappointed me.

The shadows Bear and Ojo De Gato are so gorgeous! As I mentioned before, I bought Ojo De Gato last year, and I was hooked on My Pretty Zombie’s shadows after that. In the right photo I have a swatch comparison of both. Bear is a very pretty sheer gold shade alone, perfect for Spring and Summer. However, this can be used wet or over top a glitter primer for a more reflective look. It can be an inner corner highlight, or used on the lid. It’s also lip safe, so it can change the look of any lipstick! It’s very versatile, which is something I love with loose pigments!

The nail polish is gorgeous as well. I’m not great at painting my nails, so I will spare you all the discomfort, but the polish looks like the Ojo De Gato eyeshadow. It’s a dark almost black shade that looks almost brown in some lights with gold and red reflects. It’s pretty thick, so keep that in mind, but I was done with my nails in one coat! Even though it was thick, I was able to get an even application.

IMG_5845

Lastly, we have the lipstick. The lipstick also matches the nail polish and eyeshadow. Here, I have Bear on top of it to give the lipstick a gold sheen. I’m obsessed with this combo! The lipstick is not matte, but applies evenly, and is very pigmented. It also smells like red velvet cake!

Overall, I highly recommend this set if you love indie makeup, especially indie makeup that’s being made for a great cause. Even though this set was sent to me, My Pretty Zombie makes incredible products, and I will always recommend her brand to others.

I hope you all found this post informative in some way, and let me know if you decide to buy a set or shadow!

Jordana Sweet Cream Liquid Lipstick Review!

jordana liquid lipstick

I recently uploaded a new video to my Youtube channel! I know I didn’t post last week, but I was incredibly sick, and ended up in the emergency room last Friday. Good news is, I’m getting better, and I feel well enough to film and try to play catch up around my house.

I asked Instagram and Facebook which drugstore liquid lipstick I should review next, and the polls were pretty torn. Jordana barely won. With that being said, if you were team velvet mousse, I’m trying those out this week so I can post a review next week!

I found my Jordana lipsticks at Kmart for $2.99 each. Be warned, these have been super popular and a bit difficult for many to find. I lucked out and found mine the day they had been restocked, but even then, creme brûlée was sold out. That’s the one other shade I want!

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this review, and I hope it’s informative. If you’re not subscribed to my youtube channel already, be sure to do so if you want to see what I post on there as soon as it’s uploaded!

BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes Palette Review

bh cosmetics foil eyes palette

Ah, another day, another palette review.

I know I’ve done quite a few palette reviews over the past few weeks, but with good reasoning. 1. I actually sold a few non-cruelty free palettes and ones I wasn’t reaching for so I could justify buying some new and more colorful palettes 2. Well, these reviews benefit anyone else that’s curious, right? Just think of me as your friendly neighborhood kinda goth makeup guinea pig.

Anyway, I have a review of the new BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes palette. Ironically, a few of the palettes I placed up for sale on my Postmark are from BH Cosmetics. I wasn’t going to get this one until I saw Shannon Shortcake’s comparison video. I am quite sure she had some hypnosis going on in that video because before I knew it, I had this in my cart and was checking out.

Shimmer shadows and foiled shades are something I’ve been trying to work more with this past year. I find they add so much dimension and glamour to a look, but aren’t as hard to use as say glitter. Some of the most popular foiled shadows are from Makeup Geek, but those are also $10 a shade, which isn’t in everyone’s budget. They’re gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but I love seeing other brands create more affordable “dupes” of cult favorites.

This palette comes with 28 shades, and I ordered it for $12. That’s roughly 42 cents per shade, which is pretty freakin sweet compared to the $10 per shade Makeup Geek’s foiled shadows are.

This palette is also vegan friendly, and claims to contain highly pigmented metallic shades that are easy to blend. That’s some high claims for a shadow, but how did these stand against my own high standards? Let’s start with the basics.

The packaging itself is very standard, and very boring. The top of it is clear though, which is something I like with palettes of this sort. I wish my Morphe palettes had clear tops so I wouldn’t have to flip them upside down constantly. I will say that my palette arrive in one piece, but some of the pans were a bit loose. The glue that holds these in seems to be a bit cheap, but if this occurs to you the solution is simple, you can just place them back with hot glue and reinforce them. Mine did press back down though, so it wasn’t too big of a bother. Just something to be aware of.

The shade selection in this palette is dreamy. Observe:

bh cosmetics foil eyes

bh cosmetics foil eyes

bh cosmetics foil eyes

Right off the bat, I love the shade selection and lay out of this palette. It’s very aesthetically pleasing to me, and I love the wide variety of shades. This is a palette that I feel everyone can find several shades they love. There are purples, pinks, blue, neutrals, coppers, and even a “blue brown” type of shade. Paired with the right matte palettes, you can create any type of look your heart desires. I legitimately gasped when I saw the purple and lilac shades in person. I have such a weak spot for shimmery purples. I feel they make my green eyes stand out, and it’s one of the only colors outside of neutrals that I feel truly comfortable working with.

As for swatches:

bh cosmetics foil eyes

bh cosmetics foil eyes

bh cosmetics foil eyes

These are all swatched under no primer and under daylight lamps. Are these as reflective as the Makeup Geek foiled shadows? Certainly not, but in my opinion, these are really amazing for the low price point! What’s even better is the fact that you can spritz a bit of setting spray on your brush and wear these wet. That’s going to create that more “metallic” effect if that’s what you’re desiring. The only shade that disappointed me when I swatched these was the blackened teal shade. It really wasn’t “foiled” to me and looked kinda blah and one dimensional. That’s really the only shade that was like that for me though.

These shadows can be a bit powdery, and I recommend tapping your brush before applying to your eyes. Makeup Geek’s can be a bit powdery on me as well, which is why I gravitate towards using my fingers to apply the darker shades. I’m not trying to give myself a bright blue highlight.

I’ve applied these wet and dry, with a brush, and with my finger. Of course, with most shimmer shadows, applying with your finger is going to give the greatest pigmentation. However, I’ve found that these apply very well with a flat shader brush as well. Paired with the right  matte palette(s), you can create some stellar colorful looks and neutral looks!

I’ve been creating looks with this palette for a little over a week now. I got this palette about the same time as my Makeup Geek and Manny MUA palette, and I’m not gonna lie, I’ve reached for this one more than the Makeup Geek one.

In the first look I used the peachy toned shade dry and then went over it again with a wet brush and used the white shade in the inner corner. In the second look I used the charcoal shimmer on the lid for a “halo” effect, and then used the bright blue and yellow on the lower lash line. I wanted to show the versatility of this palette by doing one “soft” look and another fun look that was actually completely out of my comfort zone.

I also created a talk through tutorial using this palette, where I show the steps on creating the first peachy look I did:

Overall, I’m enjoying this palette so much right now! It’s been fun to play with as the days grow longer and a tad bit warmer, which automatically makes me want to add a bit of shimmer and color to my makeup routine. Not to mention, this palette is affordable and I feel it’s one anyone that wants to add some shimmer to their eye makeup routine should look into!

This has to be my favorite palette BH Cosmetics has come out with thus far. I loved the Zombies palette, but I feel BH nailed trying to create a palette that everyone would enjoy, from neutral to color lovers.

What are your thoughts on this palette? Will this be one that you add to your collection? Let me know your thoughts down below! I love hearing from you all.

As always, thanks for stopping by. I hope you all found this review informative or entertaining in some way. I hope you you’re all having wonderful days.

Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette

too faced peanut butter and jelly

Hey lovelies,

Are you all ready for Spring? I have some odd feelings towards Spring. I like early Spring when it’s still cooler and I can layer, but my allergies do not enjoy Spring. It’s my worst season as an asthmatic. I will say that the Winter in my city was not so great and felt like Spring most days, so maybe the transition will be easier.

Today, I want to share a new eyeshadow palette with you all! Yes, momma did a bit too much shopping. I saw little sneak peaks of this palette floating around on Instagram before it was released, and I had convinced myself I didn’t need it. Well, then Too Faced sent out a 20% off code and offered a deluxe sized Better than Sex mascara (my holy grail) and a lipstick with any purchase, and I caved.

The one blogger that kind of convinced me this would be fun to play around with was Jkissa. I love how she put the purple in the inner corner, and I thought it was a fun twist on a warm toned look!

Now, warm toned shadows were not my thing a year ago. I was a cool gal all the way. I’ve since expanded my horizons and I’ve learned to take any warm palette and grunge it up a bit. There’s something about a warm grungy smokey eye that is so timeless to me.

Anyway, on to the actual palette. This is a limited edition palette from Too Faced that can be found on their website or on Ulta’s website. I don’t know if it’s in Ulta stores yet, or if it will be. This palette looks like the other small tin palettes from Too Faced, which we all know I love and still use quite often.

What I like about many of these tin palettes are that they are adorable, and the ones I have can be used for everyday looks and night time looks. The packaging is travel friendly as well.

This palette retails at $36, which is the same price as all the other 9 shade tin palettes.

Right off the bat, I love the shade variety in this palette. There are purples, oranges, a gold, peach, and even a white shade that can work on the brow bone. There are two matte “transition” shades that can be worn separately or used together. That’s going to make this palette versatile, and it’ll be easy for even beginners to create looks without it being too intimidating. Sometimes we all just need to go back to the basics.

Second, look at that freakin packaging. Hands down the cutest palette Too Faced has released so far, in my opinion.

too faced peanut butter and jelly

Too Faced is known for releasing cute products, which is why I don’t mind spending a bit more money on them. If I’m going to spend decent money on a product, I would prefer for it to be aesthetically pleasing. This also makes it a nice collector’s piece.

This palette is supposed to smell like peanut butter, which actually sets it apart from the other tin palettes. However, I think it smells more like chocolate.

too faced peanut butter and jelly

Of course, every shade is reminiscent of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I will admit I have never been a fan of bananas on my peanut butter sandwiches though. I also like crunchy peanut butter over creamy, and strawberry jelly over grape.

As for swatches, these were done over no primer. The shades swatches very easily and felt super smooth, which is something I experience often with Too Faced shadows in general.

too faced peanut butter and jelly

From the wrist down: Nuts about you, Jelly, Extra Creamy, Jammin, Peanut Brittle, Bananas, Peanut Butter Cup, Peanut Butter, Spread the Love

What I love about this palette: Great pigmentation, smooth shades, several mattes for transition, a pop of color, a matte white to highlight, blends easily

What I don’t love: Spread the love was the only shade that didn’t blow me away. It’s pretty sheer, but it’ll probably look lovely layered over another shade.

I did create a look with this palette last week and paired it with the Natural Matte palette. If you have the Natural Matte palette, the Peanut Butter and Jelly one will pair perfectly with it!

too faced peanut butter and jelly

Here I used a lot of the shades and used Bananas over top of Peanut Butter cup on the lid. The result was beautiful! I feel Jelly works really well in the inner corner if you love an interesting pop of color in your looks.

too faced peanut butter and jelly

My overall thoughts on this palette are that this is worth the purchase if you’re someone that collects these or wants a new warm toned palette for Spring and Summer. I feel this palette has the right mixture of shades to create soft and bold looks, and I love that Too Faced finally put a matte white in a palette.

I think this is a palette that will work on many different skin tones. I know a lot of fellow pale humans fear warm shades, I know I did, but they’re growing on me. Over the past 6 months I’ve learned to love them and I like the warmth some shades give my look on days that I feel super tired and mom-bie like.

What are your thoughts on this palette? Will you be picking it up? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section!

As always, thank you for stopping by. I hope you all found this helpful or entertaining in some way!

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lipsticks Review

Hey lovelies,

I’m back into the swing of doing lipstick reviews! I’m excited, lipstick is my favorite thing to wear and review for you all. I recently picked up 6 of the new Colourpop Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks. I wanted to try them out and compare them to the ultra matte ones, and see if they were worth the hype.

I try not to do things because “youtube made me do it” but when I see something so hyped up and almost every single person is holding one of those huge PR boxes…I feel the need to try it out and put it to the test. Am I the only one here?

Anyway, these are the same price as the ultra matte ones ($6) and come in 16 different shades to start. Knowing Colourpop, that will quickly expand before we all know it and there will be about 100 to choose from.

Personally, I like these. I don’t find them to be super revolutionary and I don’t feel the need to own every single one, but they are comfortable and some of the shades are very lovely.

I go over all this in the video though. I hope you all enjoy it! If you’re not subscribed to my channel, please do so if you want. You’ll get to see when I upload first!

BH Cosmetics Pride + Prejudice + Zombies Palette

pride prejudice zombies palette bh cosmetics

Hey lovelies,

Ready for some swatches and a review? I picked this palette up awhile back. I am such a sucker for cute packaging…and zombies. This BH Cosmetics palette came out close to the release of Pride + Prejudice + Zombies in theaters. Has anyone seen that movie yet? Is it worth going to see? It looks awesome, but I haven’t had much time for movies lately.

Anyway, the packaging of this palette is so badass, but it also has a badass price point. I ordered this for $12.50 off their site when it was first released, and I also used ebates! You can actually get 7.5% cash back from BH Cosmetics through ebates, and if you’re unfamiliar with the site, it’s just a site that gives you a percentage of cash back from a ton of online sites when you shop through them! I’ll leave my referral link at the end of the post, as well as a link to the actual palette (not affiliate).

When you open the palette, magic happens.

bh cosmetics palette

This palette comes with 10 shadows and 3 cheek products. Right off the bat, I love how unique the shade layout is compared to almost every other eyeshadow palette I own. It’s rare that I see purples, silvers, and burgundies in one palette! However, the theme of this palette is zombies, so I’m sure they wanted to create a palette where everyone can create that #deadgirlglam kinda look.

Sometimes BH Cosmetics shadows can be hit or miss for me, but when I swatched this palette I was really impressed with the quality!

BH cosmetics eyeshadow

These are all the eyeshadow shades swatched over a primer. The only shade that didn’t show up well was the matte cream shade, because it was the same shade as my skin. Other than that, every shade swatched smoothly, especially the shimmer shades!

bh cosmetics

These are the 3 cheek shades, and they swatched very nicely as well! The highlighter shade is probably not going to work if you have fair skin, but it looks like it would make a really pretty eyeshadow! I love the blush shades though. I think they did a great job at picking one shade that will work on lighter/medium skin tones and one that is intense enough to work on deeper skin tones.

Pros:

Very affordable

Cruelty free, and vegan friendly

A grungy style palette with shimmer that is affordable to everyone, including those that might want to try darker looks, but are afraid of spending too much on something else

Beautiful packaging that will look awesome in your collection forever

Packaging is also travel friendly in several ways. The packaging will make it easy to travel, and there are cheek shades in it, so you won’t have to bring as many products! Neat!

Very pigmented

Blendable, but not too much so. One of my biggest pet peeves with shadows can be when you go to blend them and they all muddy up, no matter how light of a hand you’re using. I haven’t had that issue with this palette.

Gorgeous shimmer shades and burgundies. This is a pro to me, we should all know why by now. I want to see more burgundies in affordable palettes.

Almost matte black. This is crucial to me with palettes like this, because it can add so much dimension to a look. I don’t always understand why companies put super sparkly blacks in smokier palettes.

Cons:

Not a ton of mattes. There’s one “transition” type of shade, but I feel this palette is missing a cooler toned mid tone brown to also use as a transition. I don’t personally like using a warm brown transition shade with purples, so I do have to reach for something else if I want to use the silver and purples.

A bit powdery. It’s not enough to be annoying to me, but some product does kick up when you dip your brush into it. Just make sure to tap your brush before applying product to your eye.

Highlighter shade does not work well for fair skin tones. However, this shade will probably look stunning on medium and deeper skin tones! So, it’s not a full con, but it is for me.

The silver shade has an overspray. This shade was the only one that made my heart a bit sad. I swatched it and watched the metallic look disappear. However, that’s the only shade like that, so it’s not the end of the world.

IMG_5185

So, would I recommend this palette to others? Definitely. If you love unique packaging and shade layouts, I feel this palette might be for you. I also love that it’s not going to break the bank, and that it’s vegan and paraben free. I’ve been so impressed with most of my picks from BH Cosmetics lately!

If you’re wanting to check this palette out for yourself, just click here.

If you’re wanting to save money while buying makeup, here’s my ebates referral link.

Oh, and I did use a few of the shades from this palette in my last Youtube tutorial! I used the shimmery lavender shade over a deeper purple, and the result was stunning!

What are your thoughts on this palette? Will you be picking it up? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section! I love to hear from you all.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and checking out this review. I hope you all found it helpful or entertaining in some manner. I hope you’re all having wonderful days!

February Favorites & A Life Update!

I can’t be the only human in existence that forgets February is the shortest month of the year. Every. Dang. Year.

February was an eventful month for me. I was able to try out a few new things, and my life is changing quite a bit. I go over it in the video, but spoiler alert, I’m pregnant with baby #3. We’re really excited, but that’s why I’ve been a bit inconsistent and super behind on videos and reviews lately. I’ve done nothing but sleep. Well, I’ve taken care of kids obviously, but any time I can snooze with them, I’ve been sleeping. However, I’m almost out of the fatigue zombie feeling first trimester, which means I’ll be back with more posts before long!

I didn’t want anyone to think I’ve been intentionally ignoring others or all around bored with life. I’m basically a human cat right now. All I have energy for some days is sleeping and making sure I don’t smell bad.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy my favorites this month!

Nyx Lip Lingerie Review + Swatches

nix lip lingerie

Hey beauties,

I recently posted a new video on my Youtube channel! I’ve been meaning to do a review with swatches of the Lingerie lipsticks I own, and now it’s finally up! Also, I changed my lighting and I’ve been uploading in HD, which means my videos now show my true skin tone. In case you’re wondering why the sudden weird overall change.

I go over everything in the video, but overall I’m pretty happy with these. Some shades are kinda “meh” in texture, but some shades are fantastic! I like these way more than the liquid suedes. I don’t think these are a “drop everything and buy these RIGHT NOW” type of liquid lipstick, but they’re nice to play around with.

nix bedtime flirt

This shade surprised me. It’s called Bedtime Flirt, and I feel this may be the peachy nude I reach for this Spring! Very subtly sexy.

IMG_4909

I swatched this shade a few weeks back on my Instagram. It’s called “Honeymoon” and in my opinion, it’s the best shade in this line. I own a lot of greige shades, but this one is actually different than my other ones.

If you’re interestted in watching the video, here it is:

I hope you all enjoy the review! As always, thanks for stopping by! I hope you’re all having wonderful days.

February Ipsy 2016

ipsy glam bag

Hey beauties,

Ah, February, that time of the year with that one holiday where some people gag from an overload of love and others gag watching it unfold. There’s always makeup though, right?

If you’re new to my blog, I have been subscribed to Ipsy for a little over 2 years now. They’re a monthly beauty subscription service that costs $10 per month, and they send out 4-5 full sized or deluxe sample sized beauty related items. These can be makeup, skincare, and even hair care items.

First off, I am head over heels in love with the bag this month. It’s my favorite yet. Usually, I kinda forget about my bags or just use them as toddler snack holders, but this one will actually be used for lipsticks in my purse. It’s just too cute.

Okay, now on to what I actually received this month.

1. Luxie Beauty small tapered brush– I was SO HAPPY to see this in my glam room sneak peak. I ordered the bigger Luxie blending brush awhile back thanks to an Ipsy deal, and it’s  one of my most used eye brushes. These brushes are cruelty free, and the pink handles speak to my girly side. I highly recommend these brushes. I’ve already used this one several times, and it’s love at first stroke. This works really well if you’re wanting to put a darker shade more concentrated in the crease…which is something I do constantly.

2. Smashbox Primer Oil– This is another sample I was happy to see in my bag this month. I’ve seen several mention this product already on Youtube and Instagram, but I don’t always like the thought of dropping a lot of money on a hyped up product. This sample size isn’t very big, but I can make it work for a few foundation applications. I have incredibly dry skin, so I’m hoping that this primer oil will be perfect for me. I’ll probably be updating you all on this in a later post or video,

3. Seraphine Botanicals Carrot + Rose Moisturizer– I’ll be honest, I think carrots and roses sound like an odd scent combination. However, I love trying out new moisturizers, and this one is vegan and works on the face and body. I’ve been wanting to find a more organic and cruelty free facial moisturizer, and now I can try one without spending $50. Let’s be real, skincare can get really expensive. I don’t mind skincare samples at all.

4. Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment– This product was a full size I believe, and I love eyeshadows! This shadow is pretty neat and has a super long ingredient list of 3 things. This is supposed to be a non-allergenic pigment. I will say that when I opened this pigment up it was very finely milled, almost too finely milled. It was pretty messy. However, the shade is really pretty. I received the shade Sierra Nevada 2 which is a light champagne type of shade. I don’t know how great this would do alone, but I do feel this is going to look stunning over other shades this Spring and Summer.

5. Chella Lipstick Pencil in Passionate Pink– Right off the bat, I don’t like pink lipstick.  There are very few shades of pink I will wear. I do think this pink shade leans more towards the orange side, which definitely means I won’t wear it. This lip pencil is pretty though and did swatch smoothly and has a nice pigment to it. I just don’t foresee myself using it. I do think my mom will like this shade, so I’ll probably gift it to her.

Overall thoughts– I am happy happy with mostly everything I received this month! The only thing I feel “meh” about is the lip pencil, but I understand that Ipsy put in there in the spirit of Valentine’s Day this month. I’m already in love with the brush, and I am itching to try the primer oil and eye pigment.

If you’re not subscribed to Ipsy, I do have a referral code. Of course, don’t click on it if you don’t want me to get points for it. Sign up here: https://www.ipsy.com/new?refer=1qkf

Hey lovelies,

Today I posted a new video on my youtube channel! I wanted to do an overall haul of all the new Wet n Wild goodies that have been popping up everywhere and give mini reviews on some of the things I have already tried out. Wet n Wild has reformulated some things, and has just expanded their brand in general. Actually, drugstore makeup in general is expanding, which is awesome! It means more affordable options for everyone.
