Unboxing: Target Summer Beauty Box

summer target beauty box

Hey beauties,

Today I have an unboxing! I will be showing you all what I got in my Target Beauty Box this Summer. Every season, Target releases beauty boxes that have deluxe sample sizes and full sized products, and are pretty high value. They are usually $7, and the shipping is free, and if you have a Target debit card you can snag an extra 5% off! There is no true “subscription” with this box, and it’s on a first come, first serve basis. I will say that these boxes sell out very quickly every time they’re released, so if you ever see one in stock and want it, just get it.

This season’s bag was valued at $40, and I received 5 items in my bag. I think that for the most part everyone received the same scheme of products with some variances here and there.

Without further adieu, let’s get on to the the unboxing!

IMG_7259

1. Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Styling Creme– Deluxe sample size valued at about $6. I love Fekkai products! They’re a bit out of my price range, so getting big samples like these makes me so happy. I’m really excited to try this one because it claims to tame frizzy hair, and boy do I need that in the Summer time in the humid South. This is one of the products that I’ve seen vary between boxes.

2. Olay Regenerist Luminous Hydraswirl Eye Cream– This is actually the product that caught my eye the most when I ordered this box online. This is a full sized product and retails at $23! I have tried this out a few times, and I do like it. It’s unscented and gives a nice glow to my under eyes, cancelling out the purple that’s naturally under my eyes.

3. Sinful Colors Nail Polish “Boom Boom”– The retail value of this is $1.99, and though this is a lovely pink shade, I don’t wear pink nail polishes often. I may be setting this one aside for an upcoming giveaway *wink wink*

4. Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in “Gladiolus-” Retail of this is $8, and it’s full sized! I haven’t had a chance to wear this shade on my lips yet, but I have swatched it and it felt very smooth and buttery!

5. Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Wipes– There are 3 of these in the box and that comes to about a little over $1. I have used one the pads already, and I put it to the test with a deep burgundy shade, and it cleared all the polish off in with one pad! I was impressed, and I will use these up. Will I repurchase? Probably not for awhile since I have loads of acetone stored away, but these are very nice.

Total Box Value: $40

There were also 2 coupons in this box, one for $3 off a $15 beauty purchase at Target (can also be stacked with manufacturers coupons as well) and a $1 off a Revlon product.

Overall, I’m really happy with this seasons beauty box! Did you snag one or more of these boxes? What did you get? Will you be getting one in the future?

As always, thank you for reading, and I hope you are all having wonderful days!

Battle of the BB Creams

bb cream

Hey lovelies,

Spring is obviously here for many of us, but if you live somewhere humid as snot *raises hand* it already feels like Summer. Not gonna lie, I’m not a huge fan of Summer. If I didn’t have kids, I probably wouldn’t go outside much. I hate feeling like I’m melting.

When I do go out, I typically wear a BB cream as my main base with a tiny bit of powder on top. Full coverage foundations in The South probably aren’t gonna look cute in June and July no matter how much Urban Decay All Nighter you use..or at least for me. If you can wear full coverage in the Summer I envy you so very much. The humidity just makes it impossible for me to wear.

What is a BB cream? Some people say it stands for “beauty balm” and I’ve seen others say “blemish balm” but it’s a bit of an “all in one” type of product that covers and protects your skin, while also giving added benefits of SPF, hydration, etc. Some people wear these alone and some wear them underneath their foundations. It really depends on your preference and what you’re going for with your base.

So, today I want to talk about a few BB Creams that I have tried out over the past year and my thoughts on each. I’m going to rate these on a scale of 1-5 based on coverage, price, finish, lasting power, and overall skin benefits.

IMG_6748

NYC BB Matte BB Cream- Score- 3/5

I do like this bb cream since it is very decently priced, and surprisingly the “light” shade from this line is more of a color match for me than any other bb cream in this post. However, it just doesn’t set right on my skin at all. I have tried exfoliating, a serum, brush, sponge…everything. It will  look great when I first put it on and then when I look at myself an hour later I have granny face. It gives me wrinkles and I don’t even have wrinkles! It also doesn’t have spf or anything, and that’s not gonna cut it for this ghost girl in the spring time. I’m giving it a 3 because even though it doesn’t work for me, it would probably work great for someone with fair and oilier skin than me! It’s also the cheapest cream in this post, and is about $3 at most drugstores that carry NYC.

IMG_6750

Lioele BB Cream- Score 4/5

I have done a review on this bb cream in the past, but I recently came back to it and I really like it. It’s thick, but I can still put it on with my fingers and get even coverage. The color match isn’t great for me, but it does mix very well with my Hard Candy Glamoflauge foundation (930 porcelain). The price is probably not ideal for many, but I did snag this on sale on prettyandcute.com awhile back, and I know that it’s also sold on amazon and ladymoss.com. I don’t believe this one has spf either. I want to say this foundation is about $15-20, but it depends on where you’re buying it from in some cases. There’s no SPF in this BB cream, but it is very hydrating and lays well on the skin. This BB cream is a great one that I will probably continue to reach for and just wear SPF underneath it.

IMG_6751

Rimmel Matte BB Cream- Score 4/5

This BB cream is actually one that I reach for often even though I have dry skin and tend to avoid matte finishes. It has a really nice buildable medium coverage and has SPF in it. That makes it not very photo-op worthy, but it is good for your skin and will protect you from the sun. This is very affordable and readily available to many since it’s a drugstore BB cream. It doesn’t get a 5 though because the shade “light” is so off. I can easily correct it with my hard candy glamoflauge foundation or manic panic foundation, but it is annoying. This BB cream also claims to be beneficial to skin in 9 different ways, and it’s one that I do recommend trying if you’re looking for an affordable drugstore BB cream.

IMG_6749

LA Girl Pro BB Cream- Score 4/5

This is the newest BB cream I’ve been trying out because Nicole from young, wild, and polished recommended it to me in a comment I left on one of her videos. At $4 I figured it was worth a shot. I have the shade “fair” which is a better match for me than the Rimmel, but still pretty dark on me. However, the finish is really lovely and leaves a nice satin-but-not-too-dewy glow to my skin. I didn’t give this a 5 because there’s no SPF, but because it’s HD it will  work really well if you vlog like myself and don’t want to wear a heavy foundation on camera in the Spring and Summer. Also, this BB cream is a bit high maintenance for me some days. I feel like I have to powder my face more than usual (which is odd to begin with me, I almost never need powder) but when it’s a bit more humid than usual I feel this BB cream tends to slip a bit on my skin. So, if you have oily skin this may not be the best for you, but it’s still worth a shot given LA Girl is so affordable.

So, that was it for the BB creams I currently have in my stash. As you all can see, none received a perfect score, but none are very poor either in my opinion. Or maybe I just try to see the good in everything…who knows.

What are some of your favorite BB creams? I know that one I may end up biting the bullet and buying is the It Cosmetics CC cream because from what I can see the “fair” shade is actually made for those with fair skin and the coverage and finish looks stunning on everyone I’ve seen it on. I know it’s not a “BB” cream, but close enough to me.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, and I hope to add some more posts about random things in my stash in the future!

Ipsy Unbagging: May 2015

ipsy april

Hello, Jetsetters

I have an Ipsy unbagging for you all today, and yes, the theme is “Jetsetters” for the month. Remember when I said that last month’s bag was my all time favorite? I changed my mind, this is my new favorite bag. Seriously look at how freakin’ cute it is. There were several bags that were given out, and from what I’ve seen they’re all cute.

Anyway, if you’re new here a quick description of Ipsy is that it’s a beauty subscription that arrives at your doorstep once a month, and costs $10 per month. Each person takes a beauty quiz of sorts and is given 4-5 full sized or deluxe sample sized beauty items based on that quiz. There’s typically a pretty good mixture of high end and indie/non mainstream brands, especially lately it seems. I really feel that the Ipsy has stepped their game up and they are sending out some incredible things, or at least in my opinion they are.

bellapiere gel liner

The first thing I want to share from my bag is this BellaPierre gel liner. I wasn’t too thrilled about getting another liner, because I have about 10 that I need to use up from other beauty services…but then I swatched this one. I swatched it and it didn’t budge. I washed dishes, rubbed it with my hands…everything. It’s also very very creamy and smooth. I have a feeling that with allergy season upon us this liner may be my new best friend. Because there’s nothing better than being halfway through your day and having an intense sneeze fit and suddenly looking like a sad raccoon.

IMG_6657

Okay, I will admit that I squealed a bit when I saw this in my glamroom. I’m a lip product junkie, I know it. I embrace it. Or rather, my lip products are always embracing my lips in some way (ha!). In my bag this month I got a mini pencil (still a good amount of product) of Urban Decay’s 24/7 lip priming pencil. This pencil from what I gathered is supposed to prime and blur out imperfections on the lips. I have a feeling this will come in handy now that I have an HD camera and every little line can now be seen on my lips. I also got two little lipgloss samples in “Failbait” and “Bittersweet.” I’m normally not a fan of samples like these because I never use them, but Urban Decay is one of my favorite brands so chances are these will be used. I’m honestly dying to try that purple gloss out sometime soon.

IMG_6658

This was the other thing I was most excited about this month. I received a Luxie tapered blending eye brush, and I die over anything and everything rose gold. I actually ordered the Luxie angled face brush when they had a sale on it and I use that brush constantly for blush and it’s probably my prettiest brush I own. So, I was naturally excited to see I was going to be adding a new little rose gold pretty to my collection. Blending brushes are something I never seem to have enough of.

IMG_6659

Last, but not least, I received a deluxe sample of the Briogeo leave in conditioning spray and a sample of the Amie morning-dew mattifying moisturizer. I use leave in conditioners CONSTANTLY on my hair since I have naturally coarse and frizzy hair, so the spray I’m pretty excited about. I typically don’t use hair samples (I forget to, oops) but that one I will use.

I’m happy about the moisturizer, just not too sure how it’s going to be on my skin yet. A “dew” mattifying moisturizer seems like a bit of an oxymoron to me, but I will try it at some point.

Overall, I’m really happy with this month’s Ipsy bag! I feel that their sample game has been strong the past few months. If you’re subscribed to Ipsy, what did you get in your bag? Are you happy with it? Comment your thoughts or link me to your blog posts ❤

I have no idea if I should start doing “follow up” posts with my subscription bags, so if that’s something that would interest you, feel free to tell me! Or maybe I should make the follow up a video with a look put together with some of my favorite things received? I have no idea, ha!

As always, thank you for reading, and I hope that if you’re new to my blog you will decide to stay and follow me for a wee bit!

Swatch Saturday: La Girl Creme Lipsticks

la girl luxury creme lipstick

Hey beauties,

I feel like I haven’t done a Swatch Saturday post in ages. Okay, maybe like two weeks, but I really love doing swatch posts! Especially when lipstick is involved. Well, if lipstick is involved, I’m probably down. Today I’m going to be swatching 4 lipsticks that I don’t believe I have talked much about, and that’s the LA Girl creme lipsticks.

Everyone has been so obsessed with liquid and matte lipsticks (myself included) that I wanted to look in my collection and pull out some creamy lipsticks. Matte lipsticks aren’t for everyone, and even though I adore a great matte finish, I do like a nice moisturizing lipstick finish as well.

If you don’t know about LA Girl, they’re a brand that can be bought online at http://www.lagirlusa.com or can sometimes be found in select drugstores and Five Below stores. They are cruelty free, and very affordable.

They sell quite a few lipsticks, including liquid lipsticks, but I don’t see much on their Luxury Creme lipstick line. So, I’m going to swatch and talk about the 4 I have in my collection.

There are 24 shades in all that range from light nudes, red, and a black. I do love the range that LA Girl has in these lipsticks and I feel there is something for just about everyone.

Price: $4

Consistency: These are very creamy and hydrating.

Application: I personally like to apply these straight on the lips and then take a lip brush to evenly apply it the rest of the way. These pair best with lip liners because they are very creamy and therefore a bit slippery. I find that liners help my lipstick to “stick” and not get on my teeth as much. That and liners prevent the weird feathering thing that can happen with non-matte lipsticks.

Finish: As I’ve said possibly a million times, these are not matte, but they’re not too super glossy either. I like that about them. They’re kind of a happy medium, in my opinion.

Pigmentation: With all of the ones I swatched for this post I had no problems with the pigmentation. They went on smoothly and with no patchiness.

Packaging: I’m not a fan of the packaging. The packaging is a bit cheap (okay, very cheap) and a little flimsy. However, I will say that because the product inside is so good I can forgive cheap packaging. I can tell that LA Girl kind of sacrificed nice packaging for a great lipstick, and that’s okay in my book. I can respect that. If you’re a packaging snob (no judgement here, I am myself at times) then the packaging may bug you a bit too much with these.

Staying Power: Because these have a creamy texture and finish, you’re probably gonna have to reapply them throughout the day, especially if you eat and drink with it on.

Smell: I found that these don’t really have a smell, which is fine in my book.

Worth a try? In my opinion, yes. I really like LA Girl as a brand, and I think these are nice lipsticks to try out if you want to try pinks or reds, but don’t want to drop a ton of money on a higher end brand. The only things that bug me with these are the packaging because I end up getting lipstick all over the tube every time I apply one. That and if you rip the little sticker off completely you suddenly don’t know the name of the lipstick you’re putting on. That’s also annoying. Other than that, I really love the way these feel on the lips. Because there is shea butter and vitamin e in them they are very hydrating. Perfect to throw in your purse on a nice Spring or Summer day.

Swatches:

la girl amour

Amour: A very “nude” lipstick that looks almost brown on my skin tone. I did conceal my lips before these swatches so I could show you all the true color. I really like this color. It pairs well with “nude truffle” lip liner by Nyx. I know that not everyone is into the brown-nude thing right now, but I am. It’s my way of being “bold” at times without wearing a bright or odd colored lipstick.

IMG_6613

Be Mine: A very brown lipstick with just a tinge of red in it. I know this color can be intimidating for people with fair skin, but I happen to love this color. It has a very “marsala” tone to it, and pairs well with a warm and matte eye look.

IMG_6616

Promise: This is probably my favorite out of the 4 I own. It looks a wee bit different on my lips than it does swatched on my arm. It’s more of a plummy-berry color that’s bold, but not overpowering.

IMG_6617

Last Night: This is a shade I would probably never purchase myself, but I actually got it in my Lip Monthly bag last month. I quite like it now that I’ve tried it on. It’s pretty intimidating inside of the tube, but on the lips it’s a nice deep pink color. Still bright, but wearable if you’re afraid of pinks like I am.

Arm Swatches:

That’s it for today’s swatch Saturday post 🙂

Wet n Wild Silver Lake Collection

wet n wild silver lake

Hey lovelies,

Today I have a review with swatches of my palettes from the Wet n Wild Silver Lake Collection. I know these have been floating around for a bit, and I will admit to being skeptical at first. I find that with wet n wild shadows, they can be kind of hit and miss in terms of quality. However, I saw a few bloggers I follow talk about how awesome these were…and they’re limited edition. What is it about Limited Edition makeup that makes me buy it? You could put glittery baby turds in a container and put “limited edition” on it and I would buy it. Okay, maybe not, but I would definitely consider it.

Anyway, these little palettes have 6 shades per palette and are $3.99 each. That in itself is incredible! I feel that these are exclusive to Walgreens, or at least that is the only place I have seen displays for them at.

I have 3 palettes from the collection to share today, but there are 5 total palettes in the collection. California Roll is the other one that I want terribly, but I’m still looking for it. That seems to be the most popular one.

IMG_6316

Since this one is the one I’ve had the longest, I will start with it. This is “Thrift Store Chic” and I bought it mostly for the name, because thrift store chic is actually my lifestyle. This is a very cute and flirty palette with mostly pinks. I will admit that the glitter shades in this one are kind of lacking, but I use elf’s glitter primer with them and they end up looking beautiful! I really love the last shade in this. I don’t really have a shade like it in my collection, so that alone made this one worth it. I adore the last shade in this palette though, and it made the purchase worth it. I’ve been trying to add more colorful palettes into my collection because I really need to venture outside of the neutral zone.

IMG_6281

IMG_6315

This little pal is called “Vegan Culture” and is most definitely way out of my comfort zone. I don’t wear a lot of blues because I feel it clashes with my green eyes, but I REALLY love the mint shades in this palette. The silver is also super pretty. The shimmery white shade is also lovely and would be the perfect inner corner shade. This palette is totally the perfect spring/summer palette for those in need of something fun! All of the colors in this one swatched beautifully, and are super buttery. The pigmentation is awesome with these, as you can probably tell by how much my tattoo is covered by the last few swatches. I can’t get over how lovely those minty green shades are.

IMG_6283

IMG_6314

The last one I have to show is “Vinyl Collection.” This one is very very neutral. I obviously needed another neutral palette…but it’s limited edition. It’s justified in my mind. I do like this palette and the quality is the same as Vegan Culture. My personal favorites in this one are the matte shade (perfect transition shade for my fair skin) and the dark khaki green shade. It’s so gorgeous, and I feel it has just enough brown in it for me to pull it off. If you’re in need of an everyday neutral palette with a twist, look into this one. It’s just a nice one to add to the collection, in my opinion.

IMG_6285

Overall, I am very impressed with these shadows. A few (namely the glitter shades) are a bit lacking, but it’s not horrible. I feel these are worth the $4 each and if you can find them all, pick them up! I have no idea when these will be taken off the shelves, but I do know more limited edition items are starting to hit the shelves as well *winks*

Like I mentioned before, there are 5 palettes total in this collection and you may need to hit up a few different Walgreens in your area to find them all. Every display I have seen only has 1-2 of each palette and usually 2-4 are sold out. Frustrating to say the least. If I do find the other two I will pick them up and create a separate post with swatches!

I will definitely be playing with these more and I’m thinking about using them to create a minty Spring/Summer look!
So, if you’re new here and you’re interested in seeing looks, make sure to stick around if you want! It’s free! 😉

As always, thank you for reading and I hope you are all having lovely nights.

Lip Monthly March 2015

Look, a wild subscription bag appears!

I have another Lip Monthly post to share with you all. As always, these are my honest and personal thoughts. I am in no way sponsored or affiliated with Lip Monthly!

lip monthly march

If you don’t know what Lip Monthly is, they’re a fairly new subscription service that’s aimed towards people that love lip products (hey, that’s me!). It’s $10 per month, and typically bags arrive in the middle of the month, closer to the end of the month. Lip Monthly has had some odd moments that I have mentioned before, but they seem to be more consistent now.

I have to give a business props when they listen to their customers and aim to be more consistent. Does that mean they are perfect? No, but I am happy to see their team learning and growing as a business.

This month’s bag was their typical blue bag. Or rather, another bag for my toddler’s collection. Harmony honestly loves when I give her the bags and boxes from my beauty subscriptions. She has her own purse and she puts them all in there with her baby diapers and babies and carries them around with pride.

Anyway, the theme for this month is Spring, obviously. Spring themes and colors tend to annoy me after a bit, but I had a harsh winter physically and emotionally, so I have been welcoming all the colors.

Basically, when I opened this bag it’s like Spring just threw up all over the place. Okay, I’m exaggerating a bit, but this month is very pink…and bright. So, let’s get into what’s actually in the bag this month.

IMG_5437

Hikari Lipstick- $13 I’ve received a Hikari lipstick from Lip Monthly before, and I actually adore the formula of these lipsticks. They’re creamy and have a really nice finish on them that isn’t too glossy, and not too drying. The shade is “Crush” which is a super bright pink. I’m trying to explore my color range a bit and incorporate more pinks, so I may save this one for summer.

Jordana Lip Glaze- $1.99 This product didn’t impress me as much since I can pop into Walgreens and buy this, but it is really nice. I like Jordana lip products, and I haven’t tried any of the lip glazes yet. The smell is wonderful and very fruity. It’s glittery and when I was swatching it on my arm it went on very smoothly and had a sheer, shimmery finish. This will make a nice lipstick topper, or can be worn alone on days when I just need a little color on the go. The shade I got in my bag is “Raspberry.”

JCat Lip Crayon $3.99- The last JCat product Lip Monthly sent out was a total flop, but this one is not. I thought the color was red and my heart skipped a bit, but the outside is a bit deceiving. The color itself is beige with a bit of orange in it. This product is probably the most “me” colored in this bag, and I’m actually excited to try this out alone and with some of my newer glosses on top of it.

Let to right: Hikari "Crush", JCat Lip Pencil "Caramel Mocha," Jordana Lip Glaze "Raspberry."

Let to right: Hikari “Crush”, JCat Lip Pencil “Caramel Mocha,” Jordana Lip Glaze “Raspberry.”

Sally Hansen Nail Polish- $1.99 (Kmart Price)
Once again, this is a brand I can go to Kmart or Walgreens to find. However, this is a very bright and pretty color. The shade is “Mighty Mango” and it’s a very bright coral type of shade. Not one that I will wear on my nails, but it will look cute on my toes this Spring and Summer!

Total Bag Value: $21

Eh, not the best and not the worst. The total bag value wouldn’t bother me as much if there had been different brands other than popular drugstore brands in it.

I’m still on the fence about Lip Monthly as a whole. I want to like them, but at the same time I feel like I’m mostly getting things that I won’t use. I’ve gotten a few gems (like my Magnolia Lipstick and Ofra liquid lipstick) but a lot of items that I don’t use or like.

I would like to see a possible quiz for this subscription to better fit individuals and more of a brand variety, but I also know that they are still relatively new and it takes a bit to build up a brand base that will sell wholesale.

If you have Lip Monthly, what are your thoughts on them? Know of any other beauty subscriptions aimed towards lip product addicts for me to look into?
If there’s anything in particular that you all want to see reviewed, let me know!

Comment down below, I would love to hear from you!

As always, thanks for reading!

ColourPop Blushes: Review + Swatches

IMG_4951

Hi, my name is Kayla and I’m addicted to ColourPop Cosmetics.
It’s true. I know I have mentioned them on my blog, on my youtube channel, in looks…and I’m sure that people are possibly tired of hearing about them. However, I know there are people that aren’t because they know that this brand is truly worth the hype, and it’s not often that I say that.

So, when I saw that they were releasing blushes I knew I was going to buy some.
If you’re unfamiliar with ColourPop, they are a brand based out of California. They are cruelty free, and I have recently discovered that most of their products are vegan. They are also incredibly affordable. Their eyeshadows and lipsticks are $5.
Their blushes are $8, but there is a ton more product in them.

For comparison:

colourpop blush

Left is a super shock shadow and right is a blush

As you can see, the blush is more than double the size of the shadow, so $8 is still a steal!
I ordered 4 so I could get free shipping (free US shipping at $30).

colourpop blush

Texture These feel a lot like the super shock shadows. Very creamy to the touch, yet they are powders. It’s some sort of sorcery, I swear. It does not take a lot to get pigmentation with these. Trust me, a little will go a long way.

Application The suggested application is with fingers, but if you’re anything like me putting your hands all over your face isn’t ideal. I’m happy to say that these also apply well with a brush. I used a Real Techniques stippling brush and the expert face brush, and both did the job well. You could probably dip a damp beauty blender that’s already in use in there as well and dab it on for a very subtle flush of color.

Pigmentation If you’re all familiar with the super shock shadows, you will know that those babies are beyond pigmented. They are magical. I’m convinced unicorns lick them and that’s why they’re so bright. The blushes are also super pigmented.

Longevity Yep, they also last as long as the eyeshadows as well. The mystery of the fading blush is a real thing in my life, and these did not fade.

colourpop cheerio

Cheerio– a satin finish blush. A deep cranberry color that leans towards Marsala, in my opinion.

IMG_4944

Between the sheets– a nude pink color with some beige tones in it. Matte finish. I think this shade is perfect for fair skin tones. It’s my ideal everyday shade, especially in Spring.

IMG_4945

Prenup– This is described as a plummy-pink on their website and that is accurate. I’m in love with this color.

IMG_4942

Birthday Suit– described as a neutral pink in a satin finish on their site. Because this is neutral, it can be worn with any eye look, and I like that about it. I wear about any blush with whatever look anyway, because screw rules, but you know…that’s my life.

These are arm swatches, and seriously this only me building the color up once! They are super pigmented!

I managed to take a few pictures of me wearing “between the sheets.” Please focus on my cheeks, and not the rest of my face. I was in “mom mode.”

Overall thoughts
– Colourpop has done it again. They have created a product that I am not head over heels in love with and that I will be collecting more of. I believe there are 20 colors in all, and they are all so beautiful. I love that they create shades that can be worn by everyone of every skin tone and they always make sure to swatch on different skin tones. Love this brand, and these blushes.

As usual, thank you for reading and I hope you’re all having lovely days.

Hard Candy Natural Eyes + Potential Dupe

IMG_4968

Let me start off by saying I rarely venture into Walmart. I live in Tennessee, and just trust me when I say you never know what’s going to happen when you venture into a Walmart. I’ve had some weird experiences. However, I went in to scope out their clearance and browse around since I was bored and feeling antsy.

I ended up coming across a few gems that I can’t believe I haven’t seen many reviews on yet! I don’t own many Hard Candy things since what I have tried by them has been bad (for me) but I saw they had some really cool new things, including new eyeshadow palettes!

What caught my eye the most about these palettes was how similar they looked to the Too Faced tin palettes…and I had a hunch that the one called “Natural Eyes” may be a dupe for the Natural Eyes palette by Too Faced.

My hunch was correct.

See:

The packaging is obviously different, but still it’s the same concept.

ARE YOU ALL SEEING THIS? They look so similar! I’m so blown away by this right now!
The Too Faced palette retails at $36
Hard Candy: a wallet busting $8

The Hard Candy palette actually comes with more goodies though. It comes with a primer and an eyeliner. The eyeliner is meh (they usually are) but the primer is actually really nice!

I decided to do true side by side swatches…and the two palettes are truly very similar! Are they exact dupes? No. But if you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, try this palette out. While I was swatching the Hard Candy one I noticed the shades are very creamy and buttery, which is unusual for drugstore shadows. A few shades were a bit patchy, but not too bad. I’m overall super impressed with them.

This is the side by side swatches, and I did put an awkward line down the middle to differentiate.
The Too Faced Natural Eyes palette is always going to have a special place in my heart, but I really love the Hard Candy one as well. I did swatch these over primer since that’s how most people wear shadows, and because I’m so pale that if I don’t some shades just don’t show up.
I may end up going back and picking up the Sassy one as well…because I’m sassy, that’s why.

This is a quick look I put together with the palette to test out how well they work with brushes. They blended beautifully! The matte shades are so pigmented and buttery, I’m in love already. The primer was really nice as well, and my shadows did not crease at all!
My overall thoughts are if you come across this, buy it. You can’t really go wrong with a palette like this that’s also cheap.

I had a hard time finding reviews of the new Hard Candy stuff, but if you have reviews of your own, please feel free to link them in my comments section! Or suggest something for me to try!

I did pick up one of their new foundations since the shade looked paper white (my perfect shade, yes!) so if you’re fair skinned and want to see my thoughts, make sure to follow me for updates!

As always, thanks for reading. Have a great day, lovelies.

Review and Lip Swatches: Milani Matte Lipsticks

IN my recent “drugstore adventures” I have found every new item from Milani except the matte lipsticks. It was so strange. It then came to my attention that the stores I had found the other new Milani items had put the lipstick display on an end cap away from the makeup section entirely. Who does that? Why do they torture me so?

Anyway, so I found them. Because the display was so hidden (did they do this on purpose?) every color was in stock, so I grabbed the ones I wanted most to try out before I go back and get some others. I ended up picking up 3 of the new matte shades that I would like to swatch and review today.

I picked up “matte naked,” “matte blissful,” and “matte confident.” My reasoning behind this was because I feel that everyone that loves lipstick should have a pretty nude, a pretty pink (even me), and a pretty classic red shade. They’re staples, in my opinion, for everyday use. Well, for most people. I do wear strange colors often, but that’s another day, another post.

I’ve been trying these out for a few days now and I will say that I adore them. From the price to the packaging…Milani does it again. They are truly amazing with lipsticks.

Price $4.99 at my local Kmart. These are starting to pop up in CVS stores though, and CVS has BOGO 50% off sales on Milani at least every few weeks. You could probably get these for pretty cheap if you wish! $5 is still not bad at all for lipstick though. I mean, have you seen the prices of some of the other new lipsticks out in other drugstore lines? They’re trying to break momma’s wallet.

Formula very creamy matte formula. Not very drying on the lips and they feel like velvet on my lips. I can barely even tell I have lipstick on. However, I will say that because I have been wearing matte lipstick for so long now, I do always properly prepare my lips for matte colors. I typically scrub my lips 1-2 times a week and put a heavier balm on them at night and then a lighter chapstick on first thing every morning. If you’re interested in my “lip prep” routine, let me know

Application very smooth, which was to be expected given the creamy texture. I have applied all 3 of these on my lips now, and I didn’t have any patchiness with any of them.

Longevity These last for a good amount of time if you’re not eating and drinking. However, these are not stains or liquid lipsticks, so they will fade and possibly bleed if you’re eating and drinking. If you know you’re going to be doing either, or won’t be able to reapply after a few hours, I would personally use a lip liner of some sort to prevent the “ring around the lip” look 🙂

Smell Yes, smell is important to me. These smell like vanilla! So yummy.

Overall thoughts If you’ve been thinking about getting these, just get them. They’re wonderful. Milani has had some really strong new releases lately, some of the absolute best in terms of drugstore makeup (also just my opinion). Then again, Milani is one of my favorite drugstore brands.

Matte Confident is my favorite so far. Creamiest matte red I have put on my lips in awhile. If you’ve gotten anything from this line, what’s your favorite color?
