Mini Marshalls Haul

So, I follow quite a few beauty related pages on here and on Instagram and I have seen quite a few people posting about finding Kat Von D eyeshadow palettes and lipstick at 50-75% off of normal retail value! Kat Von D does no wrong (makeup wise) in my eyes, so I went on a quest to find these deals…and walked out with more things. That’s how makeup quests typically go, right?
I’ve also had a very tough week. I have money set aside in my Poshmark balance for “emergencies” so I can get out for a bit with the girls (my kids). I let Harmony pick out a Hello Kitty notebook and we made a day out of it. It was much needed for all of us.

So, this haul wasn’t “mini” but I will say that I didn’t spend very much on this haul at all!

I will have swatches of some of the products throughout the post 🙂
Pop Beauty Set I found this adorable set for $8, which is about half of what these retail normally. I have a Pop Beauty eyeshadow trio from an ipsy bag that I like, so I decided to give this one a try. For $8 I got an eyeshadow trio, lip crayon, and blush. It’s a peach themed set, which is perfect for my pale skin!

These are the swatches. The bottom one is the lip crayon in “peach promise,” the next 3 are the eyeshadows from the rich cocoa trio (very smooth and pigmented), and the top one is the blush in “peach sheen.” I have to say that I am head over heels in love with the blush. This entire set is beautiful…but that blush. LOOK.

My next finds were the cute little Ciate nail polishes. One in “ladylike luxe” (very gold) and another called “butterscotch.” These retail on sephora.com for $15 each, but I found these on clearance for $2 each! I almost had to fan myself. The butterscotch one’s packaging was a bit damaged, but to be honest I just love the color. I love the gold one too, but that’s mostly my tacky glittery side talking 😀

Too Faced Gold Glitter Glaze This was one of my favorite finds. These retail for $21 or so and I snagged it for $5! Too Faced is probably my second favorite high end brand, so when I found this I almost squealed. It appealed to me on several levels. It appealed to my love for all things Too Faced, and my tacky glittery side because this stuff is straight up gold.

It’s so perfect, and I am already trying to come up with a way to incorporate it into a holiday/NYE look.

Kat Von D Roller Ball Perfume in “Sinner” I don’t think I have ever talked about perfume on my blog until now. I’m not very into perfume for several reasons. I have bad allergies and many tend to bother me, and I have kids and I don’t want it to bother them. However, this roller ball seems perfect because I can put it on my wrists and such to give a subtle smell. I actually like this scent. It’s very feminine with a hint of musk. Not flowery or fruity. It’s very…me. I can put it in my purse if I’m going to be out all day, which I also like. I have a 6 month old infant, and sometimes things happen (or literally shit happens) and I end up smelling like a drooly baby. I found this for $5, and I couldn’t find it on Sephora’s site, but I saw it going for $15-30 on ebay and amazon.

Kat Von D Liquid Lipsticks and Butter London Gloss These were probably my favorite finds of the day, because 2 of them were what I went out searching for! Alas, I did not find any eyeshadow palettes, but I am happy with everything I did find. Anyway, I found 2 foiled love liquid lipsticks. One in the shade “Adora” (metallic bright red) and “Forever and Never” (coppery nude) I love both of these shades! I also ended up finding a Butter London Gloss for $3. I’ve never tried anything from Butter London. Ever. I will say that this gloss smells like straight up cupcakes, and that’s the biggest reason why I bought it. I’m not very into glosses, but I have been trying to find some that I do like because I do like how they look on others. I did find these on Ulta’s website for $20 at normal price…holy cow.

Swatches from the bottom up: Butter London “Dandy Bubbles”, “Adora,” and ‘Forever and Never.”

I never would have thought to look at Marshalls for such incredible makeup deals. I haven’t been in a Marshalls in a long time because I find it hard to find many things that I like since I’m not a designer clothing/purse fanatic. I will say that if you have a Marshalls close by to go exploring, you may find something awesome! I’m still so happy about these finds. Who doesn’t love a great deal on high end makeup?

Mini and Amazing Drugstore Haul

I had a few hours to myself (no babies or boyfriend) so I decided to visit a few drugstores to browse around. I wasn’t really looking for anything in particular, but I found myself in the makeup section every time (oops) and ended up finding a few amazing deals!

DSC00067

This took place last Friday, so some places had already gotten rid of all their Halloween clearance, but some still had a little bit here and there. However, I also noticed that many of the spring and summer makeup lines were being clearanced as well! My heart skips beats when I see clearance lipstick. Is it possible to be head over heels in love with lipstick? I think I am, and it’s a problem. I can walk past almost everything in a clearance section without issues, but the moment I see clearance lipstick it somehow magically ends up in my basket. I can’t be the only one. Any fellow lip product junkies?

Anyway, I noticed at a local Walgreens that they had the Milani lip intense liquid colors on clearance for 50% off, so I snagged a few more since I only have the red color (and love it). What I like about these is that they go on smoothly and aren’t glosses, but not quite lipsticks either. The pigmentation on these are incredibly intense as well. They are not very long lasting though.

At that same Walgreens I also found a Milani Lipstick in the shade “Chilled Brandy” that looked pretty and like something I don’t already have in my collection (rare) and it was only $2. I picked up a Wet n Wild lipstick from the Fergie line in “Old School Glam” for $1.19 and 3 Jordana lip pencils at 50 cents each! I’ve been wanting to try Jordana lip pencils for a bit now, and I am suddenly on a lip pencil kick? I now own probably 20 different lip pencils and I have never been too into them. Youtube made me do it. Yeah, we’ll go with that.

The one thing I didn’t get at Walgreens and that wasn’t on clearance was the Milani lipstick in Enchanted Topaz. I just wanted this color because it’s limited edition, and the swatches I have seen of this color are beautiful!

Swatches from bottom to top: Wet n Wild “Old School Glam,” Milani “Chilled Brandy,” Milani “Enchanted Topaz,” Milani “Intense Violet,” Milani “Fiery Coral,” Jordana “Terra Kiss,” Jordana “Cabernet,” Jordana “Tawny.”

I will say that my first impression of the Jordana lip pencils are that they are very creamy and seem like they will be easy to work with. The Old School Glam lipstick is a bit too creamy and sheer for my liking when it comes to red lipsticks, but I may be able to pair it with a red pencil and make it work. I didn’t just find lipstick though. I found some cute little things to go on my desk for 90% off and candy marked down at 75% off.
I decided to be spontaneous and try caramel apple Twizzlers despite how the thought kinda weirded me out, but strangely I love them. I kind of regret only getting one bag of them to be honest.
If you have a Walgreens near you, I would check it out and see if you can find any awesome makeup deals. My locals ones seem to all be clearing out things from several brands, so it’s worth checking out 🙂

First Impression: Too Faced Cocoa Powder and BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Powder

IMG_2409

I have been hunting for a new powder for quite sometime now. If you’ve been following me for awhile you probably already know that I talk about the physicians formula correcting powder often. I still love it. I used it most of the summer almost everyday to set my concealer and would wear it alone some days. However, it can cling to dry spots if you have naturally dry skin like myself. So now that the weather is changing and I want to wear fuller coverage makeup, it looks a bit cakey after awhile and oxidizes weird on my skin.

If you’re as pale as me, you will understand my struggle to find a powder of any sort. Many are either too dark or oxidize and are darker after a few hours…or they look caked on if you apply too much. So, I’ve been watching videos and reading reviews by people with a similar skin tone/type as me and I have a few to talk about.

IMG_2410

First, is the Too Faced Cocoa Powder foundation in “Light.” I’ve seen this talked about a lot, but couldn’t justify wanting to buy it until I watched a video of Thataylaa (look her up on youtube. I love her videos and personality) using it lightly as a setting powder. So, I started trying to see if I could catch a good deal on it, and I found it on hsn.com for $39 with free shipping AND the teddy bear hair kabuki brush included ($68 total value). I ended up being able to use a coupon code for 15% off on top of it, so the deal was pretty awesome and it’s included in flex pay and I got money back on ebates. Just throwing that out there in case anyone is interested in trying it and wants a good deal on it, I was not sponsored to say any of that. I’m just a mom on a budget.

Anyway, back to the actual review. The smell of this product is as delightful as I had hoped and imagined. It smells like chocolate. I decided to try it out for the first time on top of a bb cream and use the teddy bear hair kabuki brush.
Application– Like a damn dream. Very easy to work with and is buildable. With that being said, I do feel it would be light coverage if worn alone as a powder foundation. I wore it on top of a bb cream so I only needed a small amount to cover everything up and set my makeup. The brush it came with is super soft as well. I don’t know if I would have bought it had it been alone, but since it came with the powder it’s definetely a perk.
Wear time– it lasted all day and did not oxidize or cling to dry patches during the day. I did chores, chased the dog and toddler around and ran errands and this stuff stayed in place and even kept the faint delicious smell all day.
Overall first impression- thoroughly impressed. I’m so happy I stumbled upon such a great deal because I don’t know if I could have brought myself to spend the money on it at regular price at Ulta or Sephora.
Lastly, I have to give Too Faced props for always having the most adorable packaging on the face of the planet. Seriously, how chic and cute is the packaging? It’s so pretty.

Second, is the BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Powder in “205” which is the lightest shade. These powders are on sale often on Bh Cosmetics’ website. I think I got mine for around $7, so this is a very affordable option. The packaging is also very sleek and black, which I like. It claims to be a matte finishing powder.
Application– I used my elf cosmetics powder brush ($3) and patted this underneath my eyes to set my concealer, and I was impressed with how easy it was to apply. It wasn’t too chalky and didn’t get everywhere. I typically pat my powder instead of brushing on my face because I feel it’s less likely to cling to dry patches that way.
Wear– It did oxidize a bit, but it wasn’t bad. It didn’t apply cakey, but it did look a bit caked up and weird in a few spots after about 4 hours of wear. So, this is a powder that will need to be touched up a few times throughout the day.
Overall impression– I wasn’t as impressed with this one, but I wasn’t disappointed either. It’s probably a powder I will reach for this fall for everyday looks and for when I run errands. The price is superb though and the packaging is also adorable and very sleek.

Both of the brands mentioned are cruelty free, and as far as I know Too Faced is vegan friendly. Have any powders to recommend for me to try in my pursuit for the absolute perfect powder for fair skin? Please feel free to comment with your own thoughts, opinions, and recommendations.
