Favorites Friday

Hello beauties,

It’s Friday again! Anyone have any wild and exciting plans for the weekend? I don’t. I’ll probably spend the weekend cleaning and playing outside with the kids. It has felt so amazing outside the past couple of days here!

So, that means prepare for quite a few makeup pictures taken outside instead of inside 😉

I have more lifestyle photos to share this week than beauty related, because it’s honestly been a pretty laid back week for me. I’ve been playing around with colors and showing some of my older palettes and products some love.

1. I can’t go too long without sharing a photo or 10 of Piper. Look at how precious she is! People tend to assume she’s bald, but she’s actually getting quite a bit of hair…and it’s white! Piper has been so adventurous lately and wants to crawl and climb and cause mischief wherever she plops her baby butt. I can’t believe that in June my little Moon Piper will be 1. I don’t want to believe it.

2. Jewelry- Bella Morta Jewelry was having a buy 2 get 1 free sale, so I bought 3 pairs of earrings. Two are custom Deftones (one of my all time favorite bands) and a pair of Ouija Moon earrings. These earrings make the Moon Child in me sing. I want to order some custom wolf pieces soon. I’ve been on a real jewelry kick lately, can you tell? I love finding cute independently owned shops, because I know how much love so many of them put into their work. It makes me feel empowered to wear it knowing they worked hard on it.

3. Palette of the week- BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic. I’ve seen this palette pop up into different blogs over the past few weeks, so I decided to take mine out and show it some love. I can’t believe I haven’t played with this palette much in the past. It’s so gorgeous. The colors are beautifully pigmented, but if you own this wet your brush a bit a put “cosmic” on your lids. You’ll thank me later.

4. On my lips- Stila “Patina.” This shade is talked about almost as much as Kat Von D’s “Lolita” it seems. Stila was having a 25% off Spring sale with free shipping #hellyeah, so I ordered this because I have been wanting it for MONTHS now. It’s such a gorgeous dusty rose shade, and the formula is incredible.

5. Sister moment- moments like this melt my heart. Having two kids under 3 years old can be so tough sometimes, but at the same time so rewarding. Harmony and Piper adore each other most of the time and love playing together. Lately, Harmony seems to be determined to help Piper walk. I’m hoping that she’s unsuccessful because Piper is mischievous enough, ha!

Those were some of my favorite things and moments of the week! What were some of yours? I would love to hear about them!

As always, thanks for reading and if this is your first time on my blog I hope you decide to stick around for a bit!

Lip Monthly March 2015

Look, a wild subscription bag appears!

I have another Lip Monthly post to share with you all. As always, these are my honest and personal thoughts. I am in no way sponsored or affiliated with Lip Monthly!

lip monthly march

If you don’t know what Lip Monthly is, they’re a fairly new subscription service that’s aimed towards people that love lip products (hey, that’s me!). It’s $10 per month, and typically bags arrive in the middle of the month, closer to the end of the month. Lip Monthly has had some odd moments that I have mentioned before, but they seem to be more consistent now.

I have to give a business props when they listen to their customers and aim to be more consistent. Does that mean they are perfect? No, but I am happy to see their team learning and growing as a business.

This month’s bag was their typical blue bag. Or rather, another bag for my toddler’s collection. Harmony honestly loves when I give her the bags and boxes from my beauty subscriptions. She has her own purse and she puts them all in there with her baby diapers and babies and carries them around with pride.

Anyway, the theme for this month is Spring, obviously. Spring themes and colors tend to annoy me after a bit, but I had a harsh winter physically and emotionally, so I have been welcoming all the colors.

Basically, when I opened this bag it’s like Spring just threw up all over the place. Okay, I’m exaggerating a bit, but this month is very pink…and bright. So, let’s get into what’s actually in the bag this month.

IMG_5437

Hikari Lipstick- $13 I’ve received a Hikari lipstick from Lip Monthly before, and I actually adore the formula of these lipsticks. They’re creamy and have a really nice finish on them that isn’t too glossy, and not too drying. The shade is “Crush” which is a super bright pink. I’m trying to explore my color range a bit and incorporate more pinks, so I may save this one for summer.

Jordana Lip Glaze- $1.99 This product didn’t impress me as much since I can pop into Walgreens and buy this, but it is really nice. I like Jordana lip products, and I haven’t tried any of the lip glazes yet. The smell is wonderful and very fruity. It’s glittery and when I was swatching it on my arm it went on very smoothly and had a sheer, shimmery finish. This will make a nice lipstick topper, or can be worn alone on days when I just need a little color on the go. The shade I got in my bag is “Raspberry.”

JCat Lip Crayon $3.99- The last JCat product Lip Monthly sent out was a total flop, but this one is not. I thought the color was red and my heart skipped a bit, but the outside is a bit deceiving. The color itself is beige with a bit of orange in it. This product is probably the most “me” colored in this bag, and I’m actually excited to try this out alone and with some of my newer glosses on top of it.

Let to right: Hikari "Crush", JCat Lip Pencil "Caramel Mocha," Jordana Lip Glaze "Raspberry."

Let to right: Hikari “Crush”, JCat Lip Pencil “Caramel Mocha,” Jordana Lip Glaze “Raspberry.”

Sally Hansen Nail Polish- $1.99 (Kmart Price)
Once again, this is a brand I can go to Kmart or Walgreens to find. However, this is a very bright and pretty color. The shade is “Mighty Mango” and it’s a very bright coral type of shade. Not one that I will wear on my nails, but it will look cute on my toes this Spring and Summer!

Total Bag Value: $21

Eh, not the best and not the worst. The total bag value wouldn’t bother me as much if there had been different brands other than popular drugstore brands in it.

I’m still on the fence about Lip Monthly as a whole. I want to like them, but at the same time I feel like I’m mostly getting things that I won’t use. I’ve gotten a few gems (like my Magnolia Lipstick and Ofra liquid lipstick) but a lot of items that I don’t use or like.

I would like to see a possible quiz for this subscription to better fit individuals and more of a brand variety, but I also know that they are still relatively new and it takes a bit to build up a brand base that will sell wholesale.

If you have Lip Monthly, what are your thoughts on them? Know of any other beauty subscriptions aimed towards lip product addicts for me to look into?
If there’s anything in particular that you all want to see reviewed, let me know!

Comment down below, I would love to hear from you!

As always, thanks for reading!

Favorites Friday

Okay, so I really want to start doing more lifestyle posts. I know that the majority of my blog posts are makeup and reviews, but my life does not revolve around makeup. Nope.

My life revolves around the happiness of my two daughters, and that’s fine by me.
So, I decided to start trying to do a “favorites friday” post every week where I talk about my favorite moments, or maybe even some random favorite things I got in the mail or discovered.

IMG_3533

1. I was in the living room with both girls and looked down and noticed Piper had a book turned to the right page at the right moment. I have no idea why I find this so cute, it just is. She is my mushy little sweet pea though.

IMG_3690

2. Harmony put on my favorite boots and they went all the way up her legs haha. I have multiple pictures of me as a toddler wearing my dad’s shoes, so I find pictures like these adorable and slightly nostalgic in a way.

IMG_3559

3. Piper went to sleep early one night, so me, Jeremy, and Harmony decided to make tissue crafts. Mine is the butterfly, Jeremy’s is the pony, and Harmony’s is the car. I love how artsy and creative Harmony already is. She loves to learn new things and create. She has such a unique and innovative way of thinking, which is hard for me to put into words. She can take almost anything and take it apart and create something new with it, and she’s only 2 years old. I have a feeling she’s going to be my little artist.

IMG_3663

4. Ordered this ring from worship13.storenvy.com and I absolutely adore it. I’ve worn it everyday. If you’re into Chuck Hodi artwork and horror in general, check her store out. She has some very high quality and unique pieces that are affordable.

5. Sometimes having 2 kids spaces so close together is extremely chaotic. I feel like all I do is change diapers and cut up food some days. However, moments like these where they’re both playing together silently and nicely remind me that it’s more than worth the chaos. Harmony is very willing to help out when she can with Piper, and is head over heels in love with her. She wakes up and finds her just so she can give her a kiss and say, “Awww baby sissy.” I didn’t have a sister growing up, so I can’t say I know how strong the bond is there, but I can tell from watching Harmony and Piper their bond is already unbreakable. I love watching them grow and play together.

Trendy Thursday: Purple

IMG_1856

Fall is a time of renewal for me, and also a time when I feel the most creative. So, I want to test out a new idea which is Trendy Thursday. A blog every Thursday dedicated to either a color or fashion trend, sometimes both. Please feel free to read this and let me know if you enjoy the post and this idea. Also, I need suggestions on what color or trend to do next.

Okay, I have been feeling this purple trend lately. The violet and lavender thing started in the spring and summer, and now that fall is rolling in I have seen more of the berry and vampy purples popping up in places and in new makeup lines. I love it! Purple used to be a color that intimidated me, but now that I have tried it out I like it. What I love about purple in general is that it is so flattering on all skin tones. I feel that everyone can pull purple clothing and lipstick off no problem.

On my lips is LA Girl’s glazed lip paint in “Seduce.” I love this color. I feel that it is the perfect berry shade for early fall. I have mentioned these lip paints in a prior post, and I still love them! The application can be a bit messy for the darker colors, but my Eco Tools lip brush helps me out with that. I paired this lipstick off with a matte neutral eye using my Too Faced Natural Eyes palette (review to come) and Red Cherry lashes in #605. Because I wanted more focus on my lips, I lightly contoured my cheeks with Nyx blush in Taupe and lightly dusted Nyx’s blush in Dusty Rose on my cheeks.

My purple cat cardigan is actually from Target, and it is from their fall 2014 line! I love this cardigan. I got it on sale for $14 a few weeks ago and it is form fitting and so so comfortable.

I also wanted to include in the post a few more swatches, including a swatch on the skin of the color I am wearing on my lips.

IMG_1851

Swatches going from bottom swatch to top (all of these are budget friendly):

Nyx soft matte lip cream in Transylvania- I absolutely adore this shade. It is a deep vampy matte purple, and it is so affordable. These lip creams also smell like vanilla cupcakes, so that’s a plus! I will say that the formula is a bit drying, so I typically put lip balm on beforehand and use a lip primer.

Nyx Devil’s Food Cake- I know, this is not really purple. It is a bit of a berry shade, and I wanted to include it because it will darken up lighter purple lipsticks if you’re wanting a glossy berry finish. I had bought so many of the butter glosses from Nyx before they sold out to Loreal. I really love them, and I am sad that I will not be repurchasing them after I use them all up. So, if you’re wondering why I am including Nyx in my posts again, that’s why. I’m currently trying to use up all of my lip products by them.

Nyx butter gloss in Raspberry Tart- if you’re wanting a kind of sheer purple to just test the waters, try this shade. Butter glosses go on very smooth in general, and though they are not long lasting, they do not feel sticky on the lips at all. They also have a very pleasant scent to them.

LA Girl’s glazed lip paint in Seduce- this was the color I am wearing in my photos this post. I love this color. The application is flawless as well as the color. I now have 8 of these lip paints and I plan on getting a few more. They are only about $4 each and now come in 18 different colors! Obsessed.

LA Girl’s glazed lip paint in Tempt- This is another berry color, but it’s super deep. I love this color. Due to the formula of the lip paints though, the application of this color can be messy and patchy. I’m not a huge fan of the applicators themselves of this product, so I typically put a little product on the back of my hand and apply it with a lip brush.

Just to add a bit of myself and my everyday life into the post, here’s a picture of me and both my daughters, Piper (3 months) and Harmony (2 years). This picture captures them both pretty well. Harmony is the light hearted goofy one and Piper seems to be the more serious child, though she’s still a very happy baby. We played outside for a bit today and enjoyed the nice weather. I can’t wait until the local corn mazes start to open up. What are some of your favorite family fall activities?

Wolves at the Fair

My boyfriend’s mom was so awesome and gave me and Jeremy free tickets to the fair so we could take his little sister.

I typically hate the fair. The crowds and crazy rides are not for me. I don’t trust anything but the food (ironic, I know).

However, I ended up having a blast. I had fun watching Jeremy and his sister interact in their own way and enjoy each others company. I even had fun on the Ferris Wheel. When we got on it the sun was just starting to slowly descend, and the lighting was wonderful. I tried a deep fried moon pie…it was amazingly…different. Anything can be deep fried if one tries hard enough!

At the end of the night, I was the one who felt least sick. I got a little tickled considering I was the one who was super skeptical of the rides, and yet I was the one who walked out with the biggest smile and least upset tummy.

If you’re thinking to yourself, “What is up with that title?” let me explain. Jeremy and I are obsessed with wolves. We refer to ourselves are wolves quite often. We even have a Siberian Husky who resembles a wolf in some ways (I will make her a post later on). We were on a ride and instead of screaming, we howled. It was invigorating and hilarious. People probably think we’re the crazy couple, and that’s okay with us. We’re too head over heels for each other to really care.
