February Empties with Mini Reviews

My trash basket is overflowing with goodies to talk about this month. Wanna go through my beauty related trash that will include mini reviews? Keep reading!

Olay Daily Moisture Body Wash– This is a huge thing of body wash. It claims to have a whole thing of lotion per body wash container! I did enjoy this body wash. It has a very nice and fresh scent, and it’s common to find this brand on sale and very easy to find coupons. Other than it cleaned my butt, I don’t know what else to say about it.

Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Argan Oil– I found this while cleaning and realized I hadn’t used it up. I received this in an ipsy bag a decent amount of time ago. Don’t worry, I did the sniff test and it didn’t smell funky or anything so my hair didn’t crumble up and fall out or anything. I do like this oil and it made my hair shiny and soft. However, given the price tag on a full sized container I don’t think I will purchase it. I have drugstore items that make my hair feel just as soft and shiny.

Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Castile Soap– I bought a mini version of this to see how I would like it. I’ve always seen people using this soap to clean their brushes and sponges, so I figured I would give it a go. Oh my, this stuff will clean any kind of goop off your brushes without damaging them! I love it, and I’ve already bought a giant bottle of it! A little goes a long way, and it leaves my brushes feeling soft and they smell minty. New holy grail brush cleaner.

Lady Speed Stick Deodorant– Um, not too sure what I can really say about this, or why I decided to include it in this post. It smells nice and doesn’t leave weird white marks all over my clothes. And it’s cheap.

Aussie 3 min miracle deep conditioner this is a product that I always seem to repurchase and use. It’s very inexpensive and very effective, or at least for my hair it is. My hair is very thick and coarse and I like conditioners that weigh it down a bit without making it greasy. This conditioner does just that for me, and I use it 1-2 times a week. I go through them fairly quickly though because my hair is so long and thick, but at $3 a bottle I can’t go wrong with it.

Got2B Smooth Operator Leave in Conditioner I needed to use this stuff up so I could finally throw it away. I don’t hate it, but it’s wasn’t spectacular either. Is this even in stores anymore? Anyway, it did leave my ends feeling nice, but I have cheaper products now that do the same thing.

Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo
Ah, another product I have about a million of because I got them for free once upon a time when I couponed. I do like the smell of this dry shampoo, but it left a weird feeling in my hair afterwards. I mostly used it up just to throw it away and start on my new bottles of rockaholic.

Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Face Mask I typically only keep masks and cream face washes in my collection for 6 months at most…I don’t like the idea of bacteria collecting on masks. It’s a weird/personal thing. However, I did use up most of this and it was technically almost empty. It’s a great mask! Very hydrating and soothing. It didn’t break me out or irritate my skin, which is a plus considering my skin is very snobby and sensitive.

Revlon Colorstay Lipstick Well, as you can tell this tube was pretty loved. I couldn’t find the name of the color anywhere on it…the sticker had fallen off. This color was pretty though despite how I recall not liking the stickiness of it after application. I needed to throw this out, and thought I would include it in this post…because why not?

Wet N Wild Lengthening Mascara I used this product up. It was super dry and needed to be retired and thrown into the makeup graveyard. This is a holy grail product for me, and it’s the only thing that works on my bottom lashes. It’s precise and doesn’t smudge and run everywhere. I’ve already repurchased another tube.

Purlisse Moisturizer I have like 3 more of these stored away because I get them in subscription boxes constantly. A full sized tube is about $55, so no I will probably never purchase a full sized one. However, I do like the way this feels on my face. It’s hydrating but light on the skin. I used it on days where my skin wasn’t as dry.

Loreal Youth Code Texture Perfecter Serum This is a newer holy grail product added to my skin routine. There’s still a bit of visible product left, but it won’t come out and I can’t get the bottle open. I use this serum mostly in the morning when I wake up, and it’s incredible! It leaves my skin feeling soft and ready for makeup. It’s also evened out the redness in my skin a lot. I’ve already repurchased. Many other serums like this one cost $50 or more, so this one is very affordable. However, if you have any other suggestion for serums that aren’t loreal…please let me know. I’m always down for cruelty free/vegan suggestions.

Those were my empties for the month! I tried to keep this post as short as possible…but I love to talk.
As always, thanks for stopping by and please follow me and stuff if you wish to see more of my posts and reviews!

Ipsy Unbagging and Review!

I posted my Ipsy video on my channel last week and just thought I would share it on here as well!
Yes, I do have a youtube channel as well, and it would mean the world to me if you all checked it out and possibly subscribed!
If you have beauty related channels of your own, send them my way! I love when people subscribe to me, but I am always looking for others to follow as well!

Hope you all enjoy 🙂

Favorites Friday

My favorites this week may be a bit boring, but my week has been fairly boring. My city had a pretty intense (for us…it’s the south, we’re not prepared for ice and snow) winter storm come through and I’ve been literally iced in most of the week. Which coincidentally means I was in my pajamas most of the week, oops. However, I did have some nice moments that I would love to share, mostly of my daughters.

I hope that you all enjoy these posts, and if this is your first time visiting my blog, make sure to stick around and follow me if you want to!

1. I suppose I can start off with what I received from Jeremy for Valentine’s Day. He picked me up some pretty flowers and my Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter stack was also a gift from him. He’s pretty swell, I may keep him around for a bit. The Pixi Dust was actually something I purchased on clearance! I love Pixi, so I’m excited to try those out and unlock their shimmery goodness.

2. This is an older picture, but it still applies for this week since I was pretty much living in warm socks and jammies all week. That book is actually wonderful, and if you love magic and witches please read it! Those socks are also incredibly warm and so tall. I typically have trouble finding nice thigh high socks that work out for me since I do have thicker thighs (thanks, soccer). However, these stay up and were very affordable! Check out sockdreams.com 🙂

3. Ah, the Knoxville Icemaggedon 2015. I wish I could say all that pretty snow was powder, but it wasn’t. So, we ended up not playing in it. Maryna enjoyed herself though. She looked so natural and happy sitting in the cold wind. Must be nice to have a built in fur coat with a heater.

4. Can we just talk about how much older my 2 year old looks in these photos? We went out for a bit to get some fresh air since the roads cleared up, and I put a scarf on Harmony since it was bitterly cold. I didn’t expect it to take her from toddler to teenager in 3.5 seconds. And yes, she is left handed! We ended up going out for sushi and doing a bit of shopping and browsing around, and it was nice. Much needed fresh air.

5. Piper was my cuddle and laundry buddy all week. She kept me warm and played with her toes while I tried to catch up on laundry. Is is just me, or do tiny humans have an obscene amount of laundry? I feel like no matter how much I wash, there’s always a mountain of laundry somewhere else that also needs to be washed. Phew.

What were some of your favorite things for the week?

Review and Swatches: Nyx Intense Butter Gloss and High Voltage Lipstick

IMG_4337

Before I start this post, I just wanted to say that I had typed out most of this post once before…and wordpress decided to magically eat it and it disappeared into the blogger’s graveyard that’s laced with our tears. I was so livid, and decided to step away for a day and just recharge a bit and type this back out once I had calmed down.

Now I have calmed down 😀

I picked up 4 of the new intense butter glosses and 2 of the high voltage lipsticks at Ulta a few weeks back. My local Ulta had just sat them out and I still had my 20% coupon to use, so that’s what I used it on. They were also BOGO 50%, so it made for a great deal! Anyone else do this thing where you don’t even care to drop money on high end products, but when it comes to drugstore products you are cheap as shit? Because I do that.

Anyway, the original Nyx butter glosses are some of the only glosses I own, and they are incredible. I usually have one (creme brulee) in my purse at all times for emergencies, and I adore the formula. And the smell…it’s like they put the essence of a cupcake inside of every tube. The butter glosses are pigmented, but I guess Nyx wanted to take it up a notch and intensify it (har har har).

First, I noticed the packaging is about the same. The tubes are the same color as what’s inside of them, which is nice. I don’t have to look at the bottom of the tube to figure out which color it is. Second, they still smell like cupcakes. #hellyes

Third, these are freakin’ amazing. I am in love with the new intense butter glosses. They go on so smooth and are so opaque. They feel very nice on the lips, and wear very well throughout the span of a few hours. Now, because these are glossy glosses they do not have the most intense staying power, but I have found that they wear off nicely. One of the things that I usually hate about glosses is that they wear so badly after a few hours. I put it on and next thing I know I have gloss on my teeth and somehow it’s on my face because my hair gets caught in it…it’s just not a good time. I don’t have too many issues of that nature with the original butter glosses or the intense ones.

They do feel slightly sticky (typical) but nothing that gives me the heebie jeebies and makes me want to remove it immediately.

IMG_4321

Chocolate Crepe- A very true brown gloss. I love this color so much, and it seems that many others do as well because it sold out online pretty quickly when these released, and I snagged the last one at my Ulta.

IMG_4322

Toasted Marshmallow- a very dark plum color with a bit of a brown undertone. Probably my favorite color in the entire line. I have a photo of me wearing it on my “favorites friday” post, and I meant it when I said I am going to get a back up. My love for this color is legit.

IMG_4243
(another view of toasted marshmallow)

IMG_4323

Spice Cake- this was a purchase a bit out of my usual comfort zone. This is a very dark raspberry color, and I have to say I love it. I think this would be a great color for the transition between winter and spring for those into that kind of thing, but this is a color I can see myself rocking all year.

IMG_4324

Apple Crisp- a shiny true red. Another beautiful shade in this line. I love red lip products, which should be apparent by now. I knew I had to have this color when I saw them being swatched online by several youtubers. If you love red colors, get this. It’s super pigmented and a great color to keep on you for touch ups, if needed.

Now, on to the two high voltage lipsticks I picked up. These remind me of the original round case lipsticks in the sense that they are creamy still, but I have noticed that the high voltage line is very pigmented. If you own a lot of the round case ones like I do, you may know what I’m saying when I say that sometimes the darker colors from that line can be a bit patchy and uneven while applying. The high voltage ones are not patchy at all, in my opinion, but they are smaller than the original round cases.

I’m also not as fond of the packaging…it seems a bit…cheap. However, I’m not too much of a packaging snob, it’s the product inside that matters the most to me.

IMG_4325

This color is “Burlesque” and it’s another true red (surprise!). I love the way this one applied and the color pay off. It reminds me a lot of Chaos, which is one of my all time favorite lipstick colors in the world.

IMG_4326

The last color I have to swatch is “Feline” which is a dark brown toned red. This is a very beautiful and vampy color if that’s what you’re into (which I am all about that vamp life). There seems to maybe be a bit of a purple tone to it, but it pulls a bit more on the brown side on me.

Anyway, that is all the ones I have for now, but there are definitely more from the high voltage line that I want to pick up. If you have also tried these out, let me know what you think! Link me to your blog posts if you have one, I would love to read them 🙂

Favorites Friday

It’s time to round up my favorites for the week again! A few beauty and non beauty related things this week 🙂

IMG_4215

1. Jeremy (da boyfriend) and I went on a very nice date last week with *gasps* no kids. We ended up at our favorite Italian restaurant and had a glass of wine and had some really nice conversations. He then took me out shopping for a bit (a man after my own heart) and treated me to some new perfume. It was a really romantic and nice evening. Honestly, I really needed a night alone with him, even if for just a few hours, to just kind of “reset” in a sense.

IMG_4245

2. Most worn Jewelry Piece- This week I have been wearing my “Madeline” ring from shophellkitten’s etsy shop. I love this ring so much. There’s such a classic and vintage feel to it, and it was very affordable. Please look her shop up if you haven’t, she sells some beautiful pieces! I think there’s a promo code you can use right now as well 🙂

IMG_4272

IMG_4271

3. I also spent some much needed time out with both of my favorite little ladies, Piper and Harmony. We had a warmer “Spring” type of day here, so I took them both out to lunch and to do a bit of shopping. We had a blast. I spend every day with them at home, but sometimes I feel that we all need to get a bit dressed up and go out for a bit. I always end up having so many people approach me to tell me how beautiful and sweet they both are. I mean, look at them. They’re gorgeous.

IMG_4243

4. Favorite lip combo- Nyx intense butter gloss in “toasted marshmallow.” I won’t get into this gloss too much because I do have a review of it coming soon, but it’s amazeballs. I loooooove this color. I may end up buying a second one to keep in my purse at all times.

IMG_4288

5. Favorite Find- During my shopping trip with Piper and Harmony, I decided to meander around Marshall’s just to see what was on clearance and such. Well, I ended up finding a Kat Von D eyeshadow palette…the one I was looking for awhile back! And for $10!! I also picked up an everlasting lipstick in “Backstage Bambi” for $7. Totally out of my comfort zone, but I will still try it out. I also went to Ulta because I needed a new powder, so I’m giving the Laura Geller balance and brightening powder a chance. I will let you all know my thoughts on it soon!

Well, these are a few of my favorite things for the week, what were some of yours?

Favorites Friday

I’ve gained a few followers this week, so I just wanted to say, “Welcome!” before I begin my Favorites Friday post for this week.
If you’re new to my blog, this is my fourth week (I think?) of Favorites Friday. Definitely not my idea, but I like it because I can reflect on my week and show you all some things that maybe I don’t talk about on my blog often. This includes pictures of my kids, pets, or just random things that made me smile that week.

I hope you all enjoy reading these posts, as I enjoy creating them!

IMG_4186

1. Okay, so I am a donut-aholic. I love them. When I saw this mug at Target, I grabbed it and squealed on the inside. It’s so perfect. I mean, is there anything better than a great doughnut and a strong cup of coffee? Doubt it. I have yet to find a more perfect combination.

IMG_4197

2. These pieces have been my most worn jewelry items. The necklace is named “Athena” and is from shophellkitten’s shop on etsy. This necklace is everything. Athena was always one of my favorite goddesses to learn and read about in Latin, and when I saw this necklace was black I knew she just needed to be around my neck. I feel so beautiful and empowered with this necklace on. The moon earrings are from worship13.storenvy.com, and I think I have mentioned her shop on here before. These earrings are so pretty and very affordable at $8.50. Both of these shops ship very quickly, and are so friendly.

IMG_4174

3. My favorite lip combo has been the lippie stick “bound” from colourpop cosmetics with lasplash’s “ghoulish” lip couture on top. I have worn this combination almost everyday this week. I adore it. It’s very unique without being too bright, and yet it’s neutral so I can pair it with many different eye looks. If you haven’t checked out lasplash, you should! Their liquid lipsticks last all day, no joke.

IMG_4196

4. The palette I have reached for the most this week has been the Urban Decay Pulp Fiction palette. I will admit that I didn’t buy this for so long because it looked so plain. However, I did buy it when it was $16 on sephora stacked with an extra 20% off because I needed to add something to get free shipping. I will never underestimate a simple looking palette ever again. The colors in this palette are so buttery and smooth. Gah, this palette seems so plain, but I have created quite a few different looks with it. So gorgeous.

IMG_4198

5. I was bored yesterday and decided to meander through Ulta to see if anything new was out. I found these pretty little babies! Nyx lip products are BOGO 50% off this week so I picked up two of the new intense butter glosses in “Chocolate Crepe” and “Spice Cake.” I also picked up one of the new prismatic eyeshadows in “Girl Talk” and oh man, I really can’t wait to show you all these products. I have swatched the eyeshadow and it is so pigmented. Like more pigmented than any Nyx shadow I have ever tried. I will be doing a review with swatches of these though, so stay tuned.

Those were a few of my favorite things this week, what were some of yours?
