Face of the Day: Cool Toned Fall Look

colourpop kapow

Hey lovelies,

I know I have been a bit MIA lately, but I promise nothing is wrong. I’ve just been kind of taking small breaks here and there. I’ve been thinking of changing my blog up a bit and doing more lifestyle than beauty posts (I miss doing lifestyle posts) and doing most of my reviews on Youtube. Feel free to leave input, because even though my blog is my creative space, I do value the opinions of you all since I consider you all my friends.

Today’s look is a cool toned Fall look, and was supposed to be a tutorial for my Youtube channel. While I was editing iMovie crashed on me, and somehow while it was crashing it corrupted the files on my memory card. To say the least, I am frustrated and upset about it. I don’t feel I will be able to film this again with Holiday things coming up, so I’m going to try and explain this look to the best of my abilities since it was requested.

If this look is familiar to you, I’ve done it before for an Instagram look. It was actually way more popular than I thought it was going to be.

colourpop kapow

Base: Primer is the Laura Mercier hydrating primer and the elf under eye primer.

Foundation: Tarte Iluminating serum mixed with the Loreal Infallible demi matte foundation. This foundation is super full coverage, and I like to mix it with the serum to take it down a notch so it looks better and less cakey on my dry skin. I always use my real techniques sponge for this as well, as it gives it more of an airbrushed look and takes off any excess product.

Concealer: Nyx HD concealers in Lavender and Porcelain. I do this to brighten my undereyes, but I do not do the big huge triangle thing many do. I just focus it where my dark circles are and use the real techniques sponge again to pick up any excess product.

Powders: I set my face with my usual powder, the Laura Geller balance and brightening powder in porcelain. My under eyes are set with the physians formula correcting powder in translucent.

Contour: I used the Wet n Wild contour duo in Dulce De Leche to lay down my contour and warm up my face just a tiny bit, and then used the Nyx HD blush in taupe to further define my cheekbones using the Sonia Kashuk fan brush. I also used this to contour my nose. I always blend my contour out using the City Color Cosmetics duo ended brush now, it’s wonderful.

Blush: Milani’s “Romantic Rose” blush which is a stunning cool toned mauve shade for fall, and is permanent to their rose blush collection. I used a Sedona Lace 813 brush for this.

Highlight: The new Ofra Cosmetics and Dupe That collab highlight in “You Glow Girl.” Seriously, you need this highlight. It’s a very cool toned shimmery pink shade that looks almost blue in some lights. It’s so gorgeous, and I feel like a Winter Goddess in it. I applied my highlight with my real techniques setting brush, which is awesome for highlighting.

IMG_3273 colourpop central perk

Brows: My usual combination of the Nyx tame and frame in espresso set with their brow mascara in “black.”

Eye primer: The Hard Candy eye primer. I love this, and it’s only $5 at the drugstore.

Palette of choice: Morphe 35O.

I know what you’re thinking, everyone loves this palette for the warm tones. On the left hand side of the palette, there are some incredible cool toned shades that I feel are not hyped up enough.

I used:

morphe 35O tutorial

Those shades with the coffee mugs? Those are the ones I used 🙂

I placed that cool transition shade in the crease towards my brows using the elf cosmetics concealer brush, which is an awesome crease brush for transition shades.

I then placed the lighter taupe shade in the third row a little beneath it, and the darker taupe shade in the crease as well using my Luxie fluffy brush. I love putting 3 shades in the crease, I think it gives a really awesome effect.

I placed the light kinda shimmery white shade up top on my lid, and then placed the darkest taupe shade on the outside.

Now, for the burgundy color I had to use Colourpop’s Central Perk shadow. I like to use the Urban Decay brush from the Naked 3 palette for this, because it’s flat and very dense and stiff. I then blended the shape out using my Crown fluffy blending brush, which is my absolute favorite blending brush in my collection.

colourpop kapow

In my water line and lower lash line I placed Nyx Cosmetic’s “Rust” jumbo eye pencil, which is a really pretty reddish color and blended Central perk with it.

Liner is the NYC liduid liner and lashes are the Eylure and Vegas Nay Grand Glamor lashes, which is fluffy and glorious.

Inner corner highlight is my favorite one, Urban Decay’s “Polyster Bride” and mascara is the Maybelline Lash Sensational.

Lipstick is Nyx’s 1000 years lip liner topped with Colourpop’s ultra matte lippie in Kapow. This is limited edition, but it’s so beautiful and it’s an almost spot on dupe for Coloured Raine’s Soul lipstick.

I set everything using the Urban Decay all night setting spray.

That’s it for the details behind this look! I hope I was able to give enough details, but if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! I love chatting with you all.

I really hope you all enjoyed this look, and I am so sorry once again that I was not able to get the video up on my Youtube channel. Hopefully, the iMovie thing was a fluke thing and won’t happen again.

I hope you’re all having wonderful days, and please find me on social media if you want to!

Nancy Downs Inspired Makeup!

the craft makeup tutorial

It’s me again! I told you all I love the week of Halloween! I know I normally don’t share but 1-2 looks in one week, but this week is special, and the movie this is inpspired by is special to me. If you grew up in the 90’s, there’s a huge chance you’ve seen The Craft. To this day, it’s one of my favorite movies to watch this time of the year. It’s very nostalgic to me because my dad would always watch it with me. My dad is one of those cool cats that if you catch him alone he will watch a movie with you start to finish without saying much. It’s the best.

Anyway, Nancy Downs is my favorite, and probably most iconic character from this movie. I wanted to put together a simple, yet recognizable look with her in mind. You could also change a few things up and go to a party as a true 90’s teenager. That’s an idea, right?

Now, I know my hair isn’t short or anything, but wigs confuse and frustrate me so I just went with a really teased look using my natural texture, which is already very curly.

IMG_3083 nancy downs makeup

Primer + Foundation: Primer used was the Nivea Men’s post shaving balm. Foundation is Estee Lauder’s Double Wear in Cool Bone mixed with Manic Pani’c white foundation. From what I’ve seen, many looks in the 90’s were matte, but my skin is too dry for matte foundations so the Double Wear is a good in between. It’s full coverage, but has a satin and not too dewy finish.

Powder: BH Cosmetics Studio Pro powder in the lightest shade. I find this powder to give my skin a matte finish without caking on.

Concealer: LA Girl Pro Conceal in Porcelain set with Ben Nye powder in Cameo

Contour: Wet n Wild’s Dulce De Leche down my cheekbones, sides of my temples, and down my nose. I then used Nyx’s HD blush in Taupe to further define the very back of my cheekbones.

Blush: A mauve one that came in a set by City Color Cosmetics. The shade “blackberry” is very similar.

Highlight: Okay, highlighting wasn’t really a thing then, but I have to have a little or else I feel my face looks flat. I used a little bit of the nude glow one by Physicians Formula.

kat von d innerstellar palette

Brows: We all know what 90’s brows look like. Thin and dark. Lucky for me, my brows are already relatively small so I just filled them in with Nyx’s brow gel in black, and I did apply this liberally. I set it with their brow mascara in black.

Eyes: I primed my eyes and used the Kat Von D Innerstellar palette today. I feel the key with this look is to be messy, and be dark. I used killing moon as my transition shade and went into astrological to make my eyes appear a bit more deep set.

On my lid I placed Lunacy and in the outer corner I blended darkstar and put that halfway into the crease. I was not precise with this at all. You want this to look messy and smokey.

Liner is Nyx’s black tres jolie liner smudged with night crawler and brow bone and innter corner highlight is lycan. I added lashes to mine, but using just mascara would probably be ideal.

For my lower lash line I put a heavy amount of liner in my water line. Seriously, go ham with it. I then smoked that out with astrological and put on mascara. My eyes are way bigger than Nancy’s, but I tried my best to create the illusion that they are smaller. Using liner all around the eye and using dark colors does achieve that for anyone.

necromancy cosmetica oh no nancy

Lips: I lined my lips with Colourpop’s “Creature” lippie pencil and topped that with Necromancy Cosmetica’s lipstick in “Oh No, Nancy.” This shade is a dark brown and I really wanted to use it just because of the name, so that’s why I used it over top a deep red liner. I love the way it turned out!

Nose ring is my own, and I just put a septum retainer in which is why I’m lacking a pretty septum piece today.

Spiked collar is actually a body harness I have turned around that I got off Etsy awhile back. You can add some necklaces if you want, I know Nancy wears quite a few throughout the movie.

My shirt is just a white button up I found in my closet. Another option would be a tee shirt and leather jacket, and of course a skirt with boots.

I know this look isn’t 100% accurate, but I wanted an inspired yet recognizable look. I tend to add my own little spins to looks, even on Halloween.

I hope you all enjoyed this quick little last minute Halloween idea! It’s very easy to put together, and chances are you already have most of the pieces in your wardrobe/makeup collection!

As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having wonderful weeks!

Face of the Day: Wednesday Addams (DIY Costume)

wednesday addams costume

Hey beauties,

It’s the Thursday before Halloween! Anyone else excited to do whatever you do on Halloween? I’ll be out taking my kids trick or treating, and then we’ll probably end the night watching Tim Burton films and eating way too much candy.

I did want to share a look today in case anyone needs some true last minute inspiration. I’ve been told I look like Wednesday Addams (specifically Christina Ricci) since I was really young, so why not see if that’s actually true? This look was really fun, cute, and simple to put together. Wednesday Addams is one of those characters where you can put on just about anything and braid your hair, and chances are many people will know what you were going for. Or at least I hope.

IMG_3048 IMG_3038

Foundation: Estee Lauder Double wear in cool bone mixed with Manic Panic’s white dream tone foundation. Primer used was the Laura Mercier hydrating primer.

Powder: BH Cosmetics Studio Pro setting powder for a matte finish.

Concealer: None. The dark circles I’m sporting today are actually mine. If you don’t have dark circles you can always create them using gray shadows. Truth is, I’m usually self conscious of my dark circles because I was told so often I looked “sick” but lately I’ve been trying to embrace them more. They’re a part of me.

Contour: Lunatick Cosmetic Labs cool contour kit. I did contour my jaw and my nose a bit more just so I could have a bit more of an upturned look. Fortunately, my nose shape is similar to Christina Ricci’s, which is probably why people thought I looked like her.

Blush: I didn’t want to have no color to my face, so I used the BH Cosmetic’s Lilac blush. It’s a really subtle cool toned purple blush.

Highlight: Colourpop’s “Hippo.” I made sure to highlight the very tip of my nose a bit extra just to add to the illusion that my nose is a bit more upturned than normal.

Brows: Anastasia Beverley Hills dirpbrow pomade in “ebony” set with Nyx’s brow mascara in black.

IMG_3049

Eyes: This is such a simple eye look, and yet very bold and dramatic. I used Nyx’s “SOS” as my transition shade. I then blended Colourpop’s “Girl Crush” in the crease and put “Mixed Tape” on the lid. You could go with white, but I wanted a full gray smokey eye.

The outer corner is “Straight Trippin” by colourpop. I almost went with black, but I’m glad I went with this deep purple shade instead. It really brought out the “I haven’t slept” look I was going for with my dark circles.

I winged my liner, but this look could easily be done with just a smudged lash line with mascara as well for a more grungy look. Lashes are some demi wispies I found off Ebay.

On the lower lash line I used Straight Trippin and blended that out with SOS . I’m really dramatic with my lower lash line, and I wanted the eyes to be super dark and very striking. Inner corner highlight is “polyster bride” by Urban Decay.

Lips: La Girl’s new matte lipstick in “Raven.” This applied really well and is pretty matte. I have 7 of these in all that I will be doing a review on once I catch up on everything else I need to do reviews on. Lawlz.

Hair: This is my hair simply braided. You can use a wig if you need to though. I put little skeleton hand clips from Hot Topic on either side. I imagine a grown up Wednesday would be into skeletons and anatomy. Just a hunch. Or maybe that’s just me…

Collar: This floral peter pan collar is from Salem Couture. Many places sell shirts with peter pan collars, but I wanted to use what I have in my wardrobe, and I own a few of their collars. They’re really cute and can be used with any shirt!

Dress: This was actually a $7 Marshall’s find over the summer. It’s just a cute little black velvet skater dress. I threw a cardigan over it to complete the look! Another outfit idea would be a pair of black jeans, flowy black top and chunky boots, or a long flowy black dress. I have no idea why I imagine Wednesday growing up to be more punk than goth?

Full Moon Earrings: Bella Morta Jewelry

That is it for my quick and simple Wednesday Addams look! I hope you all enjoyed this. What are your costume ideas?

As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having lovely days!

Face of the Day: Morphe 35O Palette

Morphe 35O palette

Hey lovelies,

It’s Thursday, and I do have a Face of the Day post for you all! I have been wanting to share several looks using the Morphe 35O palette for awhile now, so that’s what I’m doing today! Yes, I fought the presale madness to get this palette. I actually ordered this within the first 15 mins and didn’t get a shipping code until a few weeks later. So, if you still haven’t received yours, be patient. I’ve seen some pretty rude comments on the Morphe page lately. They were clear about when they would be shipping presale orders, so I was actually surprised when I received mine randomly instead of getting it a few weeks ago, like I had planned.

I will say this palette is worth the wait though, and I will be posting swatches of it very very soon!

Today’s look is very warm, and involves orange shades on fair skin. Gasp! I know, a year ago I wouldn’t have dared put orange on my eyes, but the past few months have opened my makeup heart a bit, and I have been wanting to play with more warm tones. Honestly, if there’s a shade that you want to wear, just go for it. Confidence is everything, and sometimes a bold (or warm, in my case) change in style is what you need to shake things up.

IMG_2949 morphe 35O

Primer: Nivea Men’s Post Shaving Balm

Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum mixed with Manic Panic’s dream tone. Yes, I still use dewy foundations in Fall. Even though this foundation is a bit too yellow for me, I’m determined to use it and another foundation up before I can justify getting the new Too Faced Born This Way foundation.

Concealer: Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer in Chantilly

Powders: Laura Geller Balance and Brightening Powder in Porcelain and Elf HD undereye setting powder.

Bronzer: Tarte’s Park Ave. Princess Bronzer. I really love this bronzer and the warmth it brings to my face.

Contour: Nyx HD blush in “taupe.”

Blush: Milani’s “Awakening Rose” blush. Ah, I haven’t worn this in like…two weeks? I love this blush, we all know that.

Highlight: Nyx’s “Ritualistic” illuminator. I brought this back out after seeing it compared to Nar’s “Albatross” highlight. This is a gorgeous white gold highlight that flatters multiple skin tones, including fair skin tones.

IMG_2948 morphe 35O

Brows: Nyx tame and frame brow in “espresso” set with their brow mascara in black.

Primer: Hard Candy eye primer

Palette of choice: Morphe 35O palette. I wish I could give names, but I just did my usual style of eye makeup to test this bad boy out. I used a warm transition shade, one of the bright oranges in this palette after that, and then mixed that with a orange-y brown lower in the crease. I used a pink shimmer shade on the lid and a dark brown smoked out on the outter v of the eye.

Liner & Lashes: Liner is actually “War of Five Armies” by Shiro Cosmetics. I use this as liner often, because it’s a gorgeous reddish brown shade. I mixed the loose shadow with Medusa Makeup’s liner medium and flicked it out. Lashes are the Ardell Double Wispies. Mascara used on top and bottom lashes was Maybelline Lash Sensational lashes.

Lower Lash line: I put War of Five Armies in my water line while it was still wet and took the orange and an orange-y brown shade and smoked that out into an oblivion. I mean, we should be used to this by now from me. It’s just what I like.

black moon cosmetics libra

Lipstick: Black Moon Cosmetics “Libra” lined with Nyx’s “Nude Truffle.” I promise I have a review on these coming soon, I just really wanted to test them out and I am a bit behind on posts because I got sick and I’ve been wanting to spend more time playing outside with my kids. I do love this shade though, it’s the perfect everyday Fall nude for my skin tone!

Necklace is from Worship 13 🙂 it’s the Vintage witch cat pendant!

That’s it for today’s look! I hope you all enjoyed this warm look, and next week I will be showing a few simple last minute costumes to put together for Halloween. Because as a mom I know the Halloween struggle of getting everyone else’s costumes perfect and then the day of Halloween thinking, “Okay, but what about me?” Ha!

As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days!

Face of the Day: A Matte Fall Look

makeup monsters cornucopia

Hey beauties!

It’s Thursday, and I do have a look to share today! Today’s look is one I gravitate towards often with a twist, and it involves my hair. I have super long and incredibly thick hair. When I say it’s long, I mean it touches the top of my butt when I look up long. It’s been frustrating to try and style it lately, so I wanted to try something new…a faux undercut! Truthfully, I could do an actual undercut and have enough hair to spare, but I’m not sure if I want to fully commit yet.

Anyway, let’s talk makeup first and hair later.

IMG_2737 makeup monsters cornucopia

Primer: a mixture of two elf mineral primers, the green correcting one and the hydrating one. I find that the elf mineral primers are awesome, and I’ve probably gone through about 3 bottles of the green one in a year’s span. My face is naturally red, but it’s been super red lately because I had a bit of a hormonal breakout. Super cute timing, body.

Foundation: My got to combination of the Nars Luminous Weightless foundation in “Mont Blanc” mixed with Loreal’s Magic Lumi foundation in W-1. I know it’s fall, but this is about as matte as I can personally get with foundation without looking cakey. If you have dry skin but want a matte look, try using a dewy foundation paired with mostly matte products.

Concealer & Powder: Concealer is the Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer in “Chantilly” and it’s set with the Elf High Definition under eye setting powder. This is a new product to me, and I’m addicted. It’s so good! I’m really sad I passed this powder up so many times, because it’s amazing! Face powder is Laura Geller’s balance and brightening powder in Porcelain. No surprise there, it’s the only powder I trust to set my face and look amazing.

Contour: Lunatick Cosmetic Labs Cool Contour Kit. Even though I have one of their previously made contour kits, I am still sooo tempted by the huge one they just released. If you’re familiar with the brand, you’ll know what I’m talking about. They always have the best packaging.

Blush: City Color Cosmetics matte blush in “Papaya.” This is a go to matte neutral blush for me. It’s a darker peachy-neutral on my skin. You can save $$ on your purchase on citycolorcosmetics.com using the code “lunafayebeauty.” Yes, I’m an affiliate with them, but I love their brand and I’ve been a huge fan of them for a long time now!

Highlight: Physicians Formula nude glow shimmer brick thing. I never know what to call this product? All I know is the first 4 shades in this create the absolute most perfect highlight for fair skin. It’s so smooth and silky to work with as well. A forever favorite.

IMG_2736 morphe 35N palette

Brows: Nyx tame and frame brow pomade in “espresso” set with Nyx’s brow mascara in black.

Eyes: I primed with Hard Candy’s eye primer and whipped out my new Morphe 35N palette today. I’m going to talk more about this palette and have swatches Saturday, but just know that I am obsessed. I found this on Hautelook for $15 and decided that 35 shades for that price was worth it, and now I’m hooked.

This palette is all matte, and is so perfect for anyone obsessed with neutral matte shadows like myself.

I took a warm brown shade and used that as my transition shade, and then defined it a bit more with a darker brown. I then took the taupe shade and defined the very outside of my crease and blended it out. This is something I do when I’m doing pin up looks, because it fakes a crease. I also make sure to take the transition shade up towards my eyebrows which also creates the illusion of a more defined crease once you add more shades.

I put the very first shade in the palette on my lid and brow bone since it was the closest to my skin tone.

In my water line I have the Nyx jumbo eye pencil in milk to brighten up the eyes and I swept the transition shade on my lower lash line to create a bit of depth in the look.

Inner corner highlight is Milani’s “Bella Chiffon” which is a super pretty white gold shade. Totally worth the $3.50 since it’s perfect on the eyes and as a face highlight.

Liner: NYC liquid liner. That’s right, I have been using only this and not my Physicians Formula eye booster lately. It’s okay to gasp. Sometimes we all need a change.

Lashes: Koko Lashes in “Goddess.” I can’t stop with these lashes. They’re so fluffy and gorgeous.

makeup monsters lipstick

Lipstick: Makeup Monsters ‘Cornucopia.” This is what I wanted the Ofra Cosmetics Miami Fever shade to look like on me. A burnt orange that is dark, yet bold and totally wearable for me. It reminds me of a pumpkin, and I love pumpkins. I’m not a fan of the taste, but I love the snot out of cute little jack-o-lanterns. I don’t like bright oranges on my skin tone, but I feel this shade is dark enough for those with fair skin to feel gorgeous and bold, minus the neon glowing pumpkin feeling. Unless you’re into that, and that’s cool too. I adore this shade, and you will all see me wearing it more often.

Necklace: Worship 13

Vest: $3 thrift find. It’s delightfully tacky in every way that I love.

More about my hair: this hairstyle was ridiculously easy. All I did was take my hair and smooth it down on one side and pin it back. I then swept the my hair to my other shoulder and teased it up a bit to give it more of a messy vibe, and then I hair sprayed the side I had pinned so that there wouldn’t be any fly away hairs. So simple! What do you all think of this do?

That’s about it for today’s face of the day post! I hope you all enjoyed this matte look that will work for about any lip color you wear for Fall! As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you stop by again soon!

Face of the Day: Smokey eyes & Brown Lips

IMG_2606

Hey beauties,

It’s Thursday, and I do have a new “face of the day” post this week! How is everyone’s October going so far? I’ve mostly been hanging out with my kids, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Most of the fall festivals don’t start for another couple of weeks in my city.

Anyway, today I wanted to share another smokey eye that doesn’t require winged liner with a dark lip. These looks surprisingly don’t take long, and it’s probably because I delete 30 mins of crying over my eyeliner. However, I do have lashes on. I feel it’s a nice touch to any smokey eye.

it cosmetics cc cream fair

Primer: Too Faced HangoverX primer

Foundation & Powder: It Cosmetics CC Cream + Illumination in “Fair.” I got this CC cream off of Glambot for relatively cheap (compared to the full retail price) and I was so excited to try it out! Fair is actually a great color match for me, and this CC cream is very full coverage, but doesn’t look cakey. I’m impressed so far! Powder is my usual, Laura Geller Balance and Brightening powder in “Porcelain.”

Concealer: Nyx Cosmetics HD concealer in Porcelain and Lavender. Set with Physicians Formula Correcting Powder in Translucent.

Contour: Nyx HD Blush in “Taupe.” I just hit pan today while using this. Nose Contour is the City Color Cosmetics contour duo in “Light”

Blush: City Color Cosmetics Matte Blush in “Blackberry.” I do have a coupon code, if you enter “Lunafayebeauty” on citycolorcosmetics.com you can save 10%. I love these matte blushes though. Very pigmented, easy to blend, affordable, and they last a long time on my cheeks.

Highlight: The Balm’s “Mary Lou-Manizer”

IMG_2605 colourpop central perk

Brows: Nyx brow gel in “Black” and Hard Candy’s Brows now duo in Medium/Dark.

Eye Primer: I used my concealer to prime

On my lid: I took out my Too Faced Chocolate Bar today since it’s one of my favorite neutral palettes. I used Salted Caramel as my transition shade and then put Milk chocolate on the crease as well. On my entire lid I put semi sweet down with a flat brush.

I then took “Central Perk” by Colourpop and put that on the outside. You could easily use Cherry Cordial, but I am obsessed with Central perk at the moment.

I then smudged ‘Straight Trippin” by Colourpop on the lash line and applied my favorite Kiss #11 lashes.

too faced chocolate bar palette

Lower lash line: liner is Nyx’s tres jolie pencil in black. I smudged Central Perk, Semi sweet, and Salted Caramel on the lash line. Mascara is Maybelline’s Lash Sensational. Inner corner highlight is Champagne Truffle from the Chocolate Bar palette.

Lips: Necromancy Cosmetic’s “Oh No, Nancy.” I went back and forth about getting Melt Cosmetics’ “Catsuit,” but saw this one named after The Craft and bought it instead. I am not disappointed in this purchase either. This formula went on very smooth, yet remained very matte. I’m in love with it so far, and I may be getting a few more shades from their “We are the Weirdos” collection. I mean, that collection was named after me. It took me about 2 passes on the lips to get the pigmentation I wanted, which isn’t unusual for a very matte formula.

Scarf: This was a Ross find that costed me a whopping $6! I love this scarf, it’s so adorable and I may wear it past Halloween. They actually had a few really cute Halloween scarves!

That’s it for today’s Face of the Day post! I hope you all are enjoying these Fall looks both on here and my youtube channel! I’ve had a blast creating them, that’s for sure. I love how much the cooler weather and darker shades inspire me. I hope you’re all having lovely days, and if you have any requests for future looks, let me know!

Face of the Day: “Am I a Candy Corn yet?”

new fall wet n wild

Hey lovelies,

This week’s look is a bit different, yet typical of me at the same time. How? Well, I did a smokey eye (my favorite) but I did not put use liquid liner to create a wing *gasp* I wanted to do something bold, yet simple and affordable since someone suggested a Fall eye with a berry lip. I also wanted to play around with a few of the new Wet n Wild palettes. If you follow me on Instagram (and you should, I post 1-2 times a day on there) I swatched the new Sphinx Mix palette by Wet n Wild from their Halloween display. For those asking, I found it at my local Walgreens.

IMG_2303 colourpop lbb

Anyway, on to the look…

Base: My face has been really dry since I’m having sinus issues, so I am actually using both the Too Faced HangoverX and Laura Mercier hydrating primer on my face. It was needed, trust me.

Foundation: I have on the Nyx Invincible foundation in “fair” mixed with the Tarte illuminating serum. I am obsessed with this serum, it makes all of my foundations look great on my dry skin without taking away coverage.

Powder: I actually set my face today with the Physicians Formula Oxygen booster powder in “translucent” instead of my Luara Geller one. This powder isn’t as white, but it does have a nice satin sheen to it which lays well on dry skin.

Concealer: A mix of Nyx’s HD lavender concealer and LA Girl’s porcelain concealer. I really needed a bright undereye today because I looked dead.

wet n wild caramel toffee

Contour: Wet n Wild’s “Caramel Toffee” due contour palette on my cheekbones and down my nose.

Bronzer: Tarte’s ‘Park Ave Princess” which I got in my Ipsy bag. I just feel this bronzer adds a nice amount of warmth to my face without looking too intense.

Blush: Milani’s “Luminoso” I’m so sorry, I will try to switch it up soon.

Highlight: Colourpop’s “Spoon.”

colourpop new wet n wild palettes

Brows: Nyx’s brow gel in “Black” set with their brow mascara in black as well.

Primer: La Girl’s concealer.

Lids: I used the “base” shade all over my lids to set the concealer from the Melrose Face palette. I then used “Oatmeal tan” by Coastal Scents as my transition shade and took ‘Oktoberfest” on a smaller crease brush below the transition shade.

I used the “Definer” shade from the Sphinx Minx palette on my lids and then took the orange-y base shade from that same palette and put that back into the crease lightly. I normally don’t use sparkly shades in the crease, but today is different. I really wanted a metallic type of look. I took the dark brown definer shade in the Melrose Face palette and placed that on the outer-v of my eye to give the look some dimension, and took the white base shade and highlighted my brows with it.

Liner: I lightly lined my eyes with Elf’s gel liner in “coffee bean.” I just wanted something to hide a lash band. I also put this gel liner in my lower water line

Lashes: Kiss #11 lashes

Lower Lash Line: I took the definer shade from Sphinx Minx on a flat brush and smudged the liner out and then blended everything out with Oktoberfest.

Mascara: Maybelline Lash Sensational

Lips: Colourpop’s “LBB.” I normally would have paired this look with a brown shade of some sort, but I actually like how the berry shade contrasts with the eyes.

That’s all the details for today’s Face of the Day post! I feel like I look like a badass candy corn mom, or maybe that’s just in my head. If you’re wondering where my septum ring is, I have a retainer in while my sinuses heal. No one likes a snotty septum ring.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s post! If you have any requests or ideas, let me know!

Shop My Stash: Too Faced Natural Matte Palette

too faced natural matte

Hey lovelies,

Today is Thursday, so I have a look to share with you all! This look is a bit different in the sense that I pulled out some products I haven’t used in awhile, but I have some newer things to talk about as well. I really need to show some of my products some love and rotate them out, so this is my way of doing so. I hope you all enjoy it!

IMG_2126 IMG_2123

Base: Too Faced Hangoverx primer and the Covergirl Outlast 3 in 1 foundation (Ivory) mixed with Tarte’s illuminating serum. I actually got this serum off of Glambot, so it’s new to me, but not a new product. I really like how this serum allows me to wear fuller coverage foundations on my dry skin without making it look too dewy.

Concealer: Nyx’s HD lavender concealer mixed with Maybelline’s dark circle concealer.

Contour: Nyx’s HD blush in “Taupe.” I haven’t used this in awhile, and it’s a favorite of mine. I almost forgot how easily it blends into the skin.

Blush: City Color Cosmetics Baked Blush in “Rose.” I bought this awhile back and used it constantly for a month and then got distracted by other blushes. Welcome to my life. I love baked blushes in general, and this one gives a really healthy pink glow to my cheeks.

Highlight: Physicians Formula Nude Glow Shimmer Thingie. I loved this highlighter for so long and then got stuck on the Colourpop ones. This highlight is perfect for fair skin, well at least the first 4 light shades are. I used my Real techniques setting brush to apply this on my cheeks, down my nose, and on my cupid’s bow.

IMG_2125 IMG_2122

Brows: I used my Anastasia Dipbrow pomade in “ebony” today, because I haven’t used it in awhile. Yes, one of my brows are straighter than the other and not as arched. I am not someone that is overly concerned with symetrical brows because I’m a human being, and we are not symmetrical in any sense. I set my brows with Nyx’s tinted brow mascara in “black.”

Eyes: I pulled out my Too Faced Natural Matte palette today. This palette kinda got pushed aside when my Kat Von D palette arrived, but this one is really lovely. I love the warm shades in this one, and Honey Butter and Chocolate Cookie just scream Autumn to me.

My transition shade is Honey Butter. I have Chocolate Cookie in the crease and Risque on the outer corner. On my lids I actually have Colourpop’s “Onai” which is a really pretty pearlized white shade with a hint of shimmer.

I have Heaven on my brow bone and Strapless and Chocolate cookie on my lower lash line. My water line liner is City Color Cosmetics white retractable liner, and my liner is Physicians Formula eye booster in ultra black.

My lashes are Eylure’s Katy Perry Lashes. The “Oh Honey” ones. I really like these, but the band was hard to hide. I like black banded or invisible lashes, but these had a bit of white in the band, which sticks out like a sore thumb (as seen in a few photos) unless you really work black liner in there, which is a makeup disaster waiting to happen with my clumsy ass.

Inner corner highlight is Milani’s “Bella Ivory” single shadow.

colourpop blood

On my lips today is Colourpop’s “Blood” lined with Nyx’s “Deep red” retractable liner. I haven’t gotten a chance to wear this lippie yet, and I’m in love. It truly does remind me of the color of blood. How do I know that? I got a big boo boo on my big toe last week and I almost fainted at the sight of my own blood. That’s right, the chick that loves horror movies and taxidermy got squeamish over a blood soaked paper towel.

And just because, here’s a sweet picture of me and my cat, Sailor. If you’re subscribed to my Youtube channel, you’ve probably seen her. My cat has the biggest catitude.

Anyway, that’s about it for today’s Face of the Day post! I hope you all enjoyed this simple look.

FOTD: Fall Inspired (Video Tutorial Included)

IMG_1906

Hey lovelies,

This week’s face of the day post is actually a video tutorial! I really wanted to do a fall inspired tutorial, and I’ve been feeling these wine and plummy red shades lately, so I decided to just smack those colors right on my eyeballs and lips.

Ever have one of those days where it’s just not a good selfie day? I was having one of those days, but I’m overall happy with how this look turned out, other than the fact that I somehow forgot to include an inner corner highlight. I wasn’t going to not upload this based on just that, but it’s all good. I think it looks fine without it.

Anyway, I really wanted to do a video tutorial using the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 palette. It’s one that I use so often, but so many of the shades remind me of Fall. That and many of the shades in this palette are reminiscent of a few Lorac palettes and the Naked 3 palette, so it’s an awesome money saver without skimping out on quality! I always talk about how amazing it is, so I decided to put my brush where my mouth is and show you all. Okay, I put my brush where…my eye is?? You know what I mean.

Products Used:

Maybelline Blur and Illuminate Primer

Revlon Colorstay shade 110 Ivory

Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer “Chantilly”

I really hope you all enjoyed this look! Let me know if you have any other color requests for me to play around with. I enjoy doing one color schemed looks.

I hope you’re all having wonderful days!

Face of the Day: Too Face Vegas Nay Palette

too faced vegas nay

Hey lovelies,

Today’s “face of the day” post is going to be a bit more tame, mostly because I was testing a new palette out. Ah, what new palette, you ask? The Too Faced Stardust palette! I will have a full review with swatches on Saturday, so stay tuned. I just couldn’t wait to play around with it, so here I am.

too faced vegas nay

Primer: Nivea Men’s post shaving balm. I know, it sounds so weird, but I really love this primer. I’ll go over it more in my August Favorites video.

Foundation: Revlon Colorstay the one for normal/dry skin in 110 Ivory

Concealer: Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer in “Chantilly.”

Powder: On my face is the Laura Geller Balance and Brightening Powder in “Porcelain” and under my eyes is the Physicians Formula correcting powder in “Translucent”

Contour: Wet n Wild Dulce De Leche

Blush: Milani “Luminoso” (surprise?)

Highlight: the highlight shade in the City Color Cosmetics Contour Effects Palette

too faced vegas nay

Brows: Milani pomade in “dark brown” set with Nyx’s brow mascara in “black”

Eye Primer: Too Faced Shadow Insurance

On my lids: I used “Chandelier” in the Stardust palette on my brow bone and swept “millenial” in my crease as a transition shade. I then took “Girl’s night” on a smaller brush and put that in the crease as well.

I put “double tap” on the outside half and then placed #selfie on the lid and inner corner of my eye. I put a tiny bit of “Sin City” on the very outer corner to add a bit of dimension. I then took chandelier again and blended the outside edges so everything looked smooth.

First impresion of this palette: It blends like a dream. Not that I would expect anything less from Too faced, their shadows are some of my all time favorites.

Lashes & Liner: liner is physicians formula eye booster filled in with NYC’s liquid liner, and lashes are Ardell #203. Not too sure how I feel about these lashes. Not a huge fan of the thick banded false lashes. I feel like Snuffalupagus in them. Mascara on top and bottom is Too Faced’s better than sex mascara.

IMG_1733

Bottom Lash Line: Kat Von D’s autograph liner is in my water line. I blended “double tap” “Girl’s night” and “Millenial” on the lower lash line.

Lips: Urban Decay’s ‘Shame” lined with Colourpop’s lippie pencil in “Creature”

Skull Septum Clicker: Minkymonky.com

Amethyst Necklace: from an etsy shop called Hell Kitten

Afterthoughts: I’m really considering going with a more traditional bettie bang style with my bangs. Thoughts? Also, this is the makeup look I did to start off the month of September. I felt it was a good transitional look.

Things I love about Fall: cozy sweaters, snuggles, rosy cheeks, bonfires etc.

Things that don’t make me feel hyped up: Pumpkin spice everything. I can’t be the only one here? I’ll just get excited early for peppermint mochas.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this look! Will you be picking up the Vegas Nay palette? What are some of your favorite things about fall? Feel free to comment and chat with me!
