Face of the Day: Coffee Date Makeup

IMG_8277

Hey lovelies,

It’s Thursday, so it’s time for me to talk about my face and things that I put on it! Today’s FOTD is going to be more neutral, but with a bit of glam to it. Because, I add glitter and glam to almost everything in my life. If you follow me on Snapchat or Twitter, you’ve probably already seen this look. I wore it to my cute little coffee date with da boyfriend last Friday. We’re trying to save money, so we took coupons into Krispy Kreme (no shame in our game) and bought apple fritters and coffee, and took a walk in the park. It was cute, and much needed. When I first met Jeremy, we went to parks often because we were both totally broke. We would just sit and talk, and sometimes not talk.

Anyway, this post is not about my date, it’s about the makeup I wore for the date. Because I was wearing a jean vest and Metallica shirt, I wanted to put some glitter on my eyes to kinda glam up the look a bit. Because I knew we would be outside, I didn’t do too much to my face.

IMG_8278

My base is relatively simple. I used my Hard Candy sheer envy primer and mixed my usual City Color tinted moisturizer and LA Girl Pro BB cream together (both in the shade fair) and applied it with my hands, and then cleaned up any excess product with a damp beauty blender.

For concealer I used the LA Girl concealer in “porcelain” and set my face with my Laura Geller balance and brightening powder in “porcelain” and set my under eyes with Ben Nye’s setting powder in Cameo. I find this base combination evens out the redness in my skin (thanks, Irish genes) while allowing my freckles to peak through, so it looks very natural.

I only bronzed my face a bit with the Tarte Park Ave Princess bronzer that I got in my Ipsy bag (also mentioned in my July Favorites) my blush is Milani’s “American Beauty Rose” from their limited edition blushes (that can be bought online right now on the Milani website!) and my highlight is Colourpop’s “Spoon.” Everything was set with Urban Decay’s all nighter spray, because I was going to the park. Melting makeup is not a cute look.

IMG_8276

My brows are my usual: Milani’s pomade in “dark brown” set with Nyx’s brow mascara in “black” and then I faked some hairs with my Ofra universal brown pencil in the front of my brows.

I primed my eyes with my Too Faced shadow insurance and then took “mourning” by Shiro Cosmetics in my crease as a transition shade. I then added “nymph” (a brick red also by Shiro) and “dirty” by My Pretty Zombie and just layered and blended to create a neat effect. I’ve really been loving using several shades in the crease.

I put Colourpop’s “Bae” on my lid…and now I don’t really know why since I just put a shit ton of glitter over it. I then sprayed my brush a bit and put on Lunatick Labs “Ghouls Gold” glitter on my lids. Because I’m dramatic and wanted more glitter, I added Nyx’s “platinum” roll on glitter to my lids by putting some on a brush and dabbing it on.

Liner is NYC’s black liquid liner. I’ve been using this liner constantly lately. I feel like I’ve finally figured out the brush, and the formula of this liner is stellar. It’s super black, and dries matte. It’s a new favorite of mine.

IMG_8214

Lashes are the same demi lashes that I got off ebay that I can’t stop using. I lined my water line with Wet n Wild’s “Mink brown” and blended it out with mourning, nymph, and dirty. I put dirty closest to my water line though to add a bit of dimension. Inner corner highlight is Colourpop’s “Swan”

My lips are lined with Nyx’s “Orchid” and topped with Lunatick Labs “Cinderhella” This shade is a beautiful deep berry color. I’m in love with it. I will say that the gold glitter and lipstick were sent to me, but I am in no way pressured to post about it or create a post. I’ve used a lot of things from Lunatick in the past, and I saw on Instagram that they were sending out little packages to a lot of people, no matter how many followers they had. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world, and I wish more companies were more worried about honest reviews than reaching out to only big bloggers and youtubers. And not for products or anything, but only because companies should want a variety of reviews for new products from several demographics. Just my opinion though.

Well, that was my coffee date night look! I hope you all enjoyed this look, and as always, thanks for reading if you made it this far! I know I can be pretty detailed in these posts. If there’s anything you’re wondering about, please feel free to ask!

Have a lovely day, beauties.

Face of the Day: “Lingered in Twilight”

IMG_7964

Hey loves,

It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for this week’s “face of the day” post! I look forward to this post every week, and I hope you all enjoy them as well. They’ve pushed me to try new looks and to try new products/colors out. When I did this look it was very rainy and gloomy, so I was feeling another cool toned look. But don’t worry, I made it fun! Anyone else stuck inside all day Tuesday thanks to intense storms? We were. My husky was feeling anxious and our power flickered on and off all day. I also had a tired mom moment and completely ignored the flash flood warning on my phone because I was very tired and the girls were still asleep.

Not one of my proudest moments.

Anyway, if my pictures seem a bit darker than usual, that’s why. I tend to use natural light for my face photos, it’s just personal preference.

IMG_7968

First thing to address, I cut my bangs! I wanted a new style without cutting my hair since I’ve been growing it out for two years now. So, I went with short “v” bangs. Essentially, they’re just bettie bangs that meet in a point. Like a faux widow’s peak. I love it. I also have new nose jewelry because I noticed last week that the gems in my last clicker were falling out. My nose looks pretty again.

IMG_7970

Okay, I’m serious now let’s talk makeup. For my base I primed with my Laura Mercier hydrating primer, as usual. I mixed together City Color Cosmetic’s tinted moisturizer in “fair” and LA Girl Pro BB cream in “fair.” There’s something that I really love about this combination. It’s a nice coverage and looks dewy on my skin, yet my freckles peak through. I’ve really been loving it, but I noticed that it’s a bit dark on me. I might have to add my manic panic dreamtone to it. Woo, it takes 3 products to get the perfect mix! #thestruggle

I set my face with my Laura Geller Balance and Brightening powder in “porcelain” and used my LA Girl pro concealer in “porcelain” under my eyes and set that with Physicians Formula correcting powder.

My contour today is my Lunatick Cosmetic Labs cool contour kit, and it’s also what I used to contour my nose. Blush is Milani’s “Romantic Rose” and highlight is Colourpop’s “Smokin Whistles.” I have been addicted to this highlight the past few weeks. It’s a gorgeous champagne color that reflects silver. It’s the absolute perfect champagne highlight for fair, cool toned skin. I’m in love.

IMG_7966

My brows are Milani’s new pomade in “dark” and set with Nyx’s brow mascara in “black.” Also a favorite combo of mine lately. I primed my eyes with Too Faced’s shadow insurance and my transition shade is “SOS” by Nyx. I then took “Downtown” by Colourpop on a flat brush and put that more concentrated in my crease. Because my liner is fun today, I wanted a simpler look on my lids, and I felt taupe would contrast well with the teal color of the liner. Lid and brow highlight is the white shade from the Kat Von D shade+light eye palette. Only because no other matte white compares to that one, in my opinion.

Okay, so remember when I posted about how to change your loose shadow into liner? Hey, well I did that today. I mixed a homemade water and vegetable glycerin combo on a palette with Shiro Cosmetics shadow in “Lingered in Twilight.” This shade is a gorgeous deeper teal with a bit of sparkle, and I thought it would make the perfect liner on a stormy day.

I did tightline my upper water line with a gel pencil because it made my eyes look a bit fuller, and I was planning on wearing false lashes. I used my Maybelline The Falsies mascara on my upper and lower lashes, and my lashes are a pair that I got off ebay. I honestly do not know the name of them, but they are very nice and wispy.

IMG_7965

On my lower lash line I used Nyx’s jumbo pencil in “Milk” on my water line and blended “SOS” and “Downtown” together on the lower lash line. My inner corner highlight is a Nyx loose pigment. I believe the color is “platinum” or something, but that’s a con to the Nyx loose shadows. They’re gorgeous and affordable, but good luck remembering the names once you take the sticker off and open it.

My lips are lined with Essence’s liner in “soft berry” and topped with LaSplash’s “Nymphadora.” My whole face is set with Pixi’s glow mist setting spray.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s face of the day post! If you have any requests or want to know anything about a product mentioned, please feel free to ask in the comment section!

Have a good day, beauties.

Face of the Day: Warm Eyes + Vampy Lip

IMG_7726

Hey beauties,

Today I have another Face of the Day post! I’m going to try to continue and post these every Thursday, and I also try to use new products mixed with some old favorites. Let me know if you’re all okay with seeing a makeup look every week!

IMG_7717

Today’s face was inspired by my want to slather one of the new shades from the Milani Moisture Matte lipstick line all over my face. I’m not even kidding. I also wanted to do something warm on the eyes, because I honestly love a very warm eye with a dark lip. The contrast is striking, in my opinion.

For my base, I went with Maybelline’s Master Illuminating primer and mixed one pump of Hard Candy’s “porcelain” glamoflauge with a little bit of Loreal’s Magi Lumi foundation (also the lightest shade)

Concealer is my usual NYX lavender and porcelain mixed, and I used it to highlight on the bridge of my nose as well. I set my face with Laura Geller’s balance and brightening powder in “porcelain.” My under eyes were set with physician’s formula correcting powder in “translucent.”

IMG_7741

Brows are Milani’s new brow pomade in “dark brown” set with Nyx’s brow mascara in “black”

I primed my eyes with concealer and used “succubus” from the Kat Von D Shade + Light eye palette to set the primer and help blend the colors out. Okay, I know I used a lot of different eye colors/palettes for this look so please bare with me. The first transition shade I used was from my Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter stack, the shade “unseen.” I’m obsessed with this shade. I then took “laetus” from the Shade+Light palette and lightly blended it with “unseen.”

IMG_7742

I took “sytry” on a flat brush and concentrated that in the crease. I I then took “Queensguard” by Shiro cosmetics on the entire lid, and made sure to clean up the crease a bit in the process. On a small angled brush I took “shax” and placed in concentrated on the outer part of the crease to further cut it a bit more. I took “blurr” from the Dark Matter stack and blended out any harsh lines on the outside shape and used “succubus” to highlight my brow bone.

Liner is physicians formula eye booster and Urban Decay’s 24/7 liner in “perversion.” I created the shape with the eye booster pen and filled it in with the liquid liner. I can’t stand the brush on the Urban Decay liner, but it truly is the blackest liquid liner in my collection.

Lower lash line is Stila Stay All Day smudger liner in “damsel” on my water line and all of that is smudged out with “Unseen” “sytry” and “laetus” in that order

Mascara on both upper and lower lash lines is Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. Lashes are Kiss 11.

Contour is Nyx’s HD blush in “taupe” and blush is Milani’s new rose blush in “Awakening Rose.”

Highlight is Nyx’s illuminator in “Ritualistic.” I recently pulled this highlighter back out and fell back in love with it! It’s a very pretty white gold shade that isn’t too overpowering on my fair skin. It’s also what’s on the inner corner of my eye and at the very top of my brow close to the arch.

IMG_7743

Lips are lined with Jordana’s liner in “cabernet” and topped with Milani’s Matte Fearless.

I set my entire face with Pixi’s glow mist setting spray.

Cute little flower band is actually from Rue 21, and they’re only $2 each so you need about 100.

If you have any questions about anything, please feel free to ask me! I hope you all enjoyed this look, and thanks for reading if you made it this far!

Have a lovely Thursday!

One Palette, Five Looks: Innerstellar Palette

IMG_3506 IMG_3507

Hey lovelies,

I was tagged by the lovely Kaily at Someday Sunny quite some time ago to create 5 different looks using one palette. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to do this tag, I didn’t know what palette I wanted to use for a hot minute. I wanted to use something that I love and haven’t used as much lately, but is still available.

After much thought, I went with the Kat Von D Innerstellar palette. Why? Well, for one it’s one of my favorite palettes. The galaxy type colors inspire me in a big way, and I feel this palette is very versatile and has a great mix of mattes and shimmers. It’s also limited edition and with the release of Kat Von D’s summer collection coming up in July, I don’t know how much longer this palette will be available. So, I wanted to show how gorgeous it is in one dedicated post for those that might still be on the fence about it, or don’t use cool toned shadows often. If you’re unfamiliar with this palette, I will link my review with swatches and all of the names at the end of this post along with Kaily’s original post.

This palette is super cool toned. It is the coolest (officially my worst pun) but it is so gorgeous, so without further adieu, let’s move on to the 5 looks I did.

IMG_6836 IMG_6837

Look one: a simple daytime look.

Transition shade: Killing Moon Base and eyebrow shade: Lycan

Crease: Astrological

Inner corner shade: Dios

Lower Lash Line: Nude liner in the water line, Killing Moon and Astrological blended out

Lashes: Kiss #11

Lips: Nyx “Enamored” contour is actually “Vast” from the Innerstellar palette and blush is “prenup” by Colourpop.

IMG_6909 IMG_6908

Look two: a dramatic vampy look

Transition shade: Vast Lid shades: Moonshine on the entire lid and Night Crawler blended out on the outside

Water line is Urban Decay’s 24/7 liner in “Black Velvet” smoked out with Vast and 3am. Inner corner “flick” created with Night Crawler and a small angled brush and filled in with Moonshine. Lashes are Kara #WSP

Lips: Nyx Simply Vamp in “Temptress”

Blush is ‘LoveSong” by Kat Von D and highlight is Colourpop’s “Hippo”

IMG_6904 IMG_6903

Look three: Smokey eye with no winged liner

Transition shade: vast Lid shades: Darkstar and Lunacy

Used Urban Decay’s 24/7 liner in Black Velvet on the lash line and smoked it out with Night Crawler and applied Kiss #11 lashes. Brow bone is Lycan.

Lash line is Vast, Killing Moon, and Darkstar smoked out and blended together.

Contour is Vast from Innerstellar.

Blush is Colourpop’s “Prenup” and Face and inner corner highlight is Colourpop’s “Hippo”

Lips are Lasplash “Ghoulish”

IMG_6839 IMG_6838 IMG_6835

Look four: galaxy inspired. This is probably my favorite look. I’m happy with how this one turned out.

Transition shade: Killing Moon

Lid Shades: 3am on outside and inside corners.

Middle of the lid: Dios and Moonshine together applied with my finger

Blended out the entire shape using Orion.

Water line liner is Bellapierre’s gel liner in “Ebony” and 3am, Killing Moon, and Orion are blended out on the lower lash line.

Lashes are Kara #43.

Lips are Kat Von D “Lovecraft”

Cheeks are Nyx’s blush in “Taupe” and Kat Von D’s blush in “Lovesong.”

Highlight is Elf’s baked highlight in “Moonlight Pearls”

IMG_7076 IMG_7078

Look five: Would it be a post by me if I didn’t add a look with a raccoon-esque feel and odd lip color? Probably not.

For this look I applied Maybelline’s color tattoo in “tough as taupe” on the outer and inner corners on the top lid, and messily ran it on the lower lash line as well. The key word for this look was “messy”

Transition/blending shade: Astrological

Outer/Inner corner shade: Night Crawler

Middle shade: Moonshine

Lower lash line: astrolgical and killing moon blending far down to create that killer raccoon smokey eye.

Brow shade: Lycan

Liner and lashes: Physicians formula eye booster pen, Kiss #11 lashes

Contour: Nyx blush in “taupe”

Blush: Wet n Wild “Pearlescent Pink”

Highlight: Elf “Moonlight Pearls:

Lips: Manic Panic’s “After Midnight” topped with Kat Von D’s “Poe.”

I know this look isn’t for everyone. I wanted to add a bit of my own pizazz in though.

Anyway, those are my five looks for this lovely and fun tag! I’m not going to tag anyone in particular, and here’s why…I think this is something everyone that has an abundance of eyeshadow palettes should do. This tag actually re-sparked my love for this palette, and I haven’t been able to put it down even after doing these looks! I actually want to do this with more palettes in my collection. It’s a fun challenge to create different looks with the same palette. It forced me to use different bases, techniques, and color combinations. I even learned that the shade “Vast” doubles as an amazing contour shade for paler skin tones. Seriously, if you own this palette, try it as a contour.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, because I had so much fun doing this.

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you are all having wonderful days.
