What’s in My Makeup Bag

IMG_8665

Hey beauties,

I’m back with a post about the things currently in my “everyday” makeup routine. If I’m  not filming or trying out new products, I do have a specific set of products I almost always reach for. Maybe it’s a comfort thing. These are all products that I know work for me and look great on my skin and will  last throughout the day. With two young children and one on the way, I need some long lasting everyday products on days when I’m just out running errands or playing with my kids.

Nyx Born to Glow Primer– I use this primer pretty much everyday. It’s replaced my Too Faced HangoverX primer for the most part. I love the subtle glow it gives to my face and it definitely brightens my complexion up, which is something I need during pregnancy so I don’t look dead and dull. This primer is also relatively affordable!

IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream in Fair– I LOVE It Cosmetics products, and that will be mad every clear in this post. I appreciate their anti aging ingredients and how gentle they are on my skin. Their face products are something I recommend to everyone. The CC cream is light weight, but still has a medium coverage, so it’s what I look for overall in an everyday foundation. I do have to mix a white foundation in with this though, but it’s worth it. I have a back up for this CC cream, that’s how much I use it.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye + Illumination– I ordered this off QVC once when they had a deal on several It Cosmetics products. This is one that I use constantly. I have really dry skin and concealers can easily crease under my eyes, but this one doesn’t. I use the tiniest amount on the back of my hand and use a finger to warm it up and apply it that way, because trust me, a little bit of this will go a very long way. I’m in the shade light and this shade does brighten my under eye area up and corrects my intense dark circles, which is immensely appreciated.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Powder– This is another product that came in the QVC set I ordered. I didn’t know how this would set on my skin, but I surprisingly love it. I don’t use this to set my entire face. I typically only use it on my nose, chin, and forehead. You know, the places that pores are visible on everyone. This powder truly does blue out pores. It’s made of magic, I swear.

Becca Cosmetics Highlighter in Moonstone– I have almost hit pan on this highlighter. I can see the little rim shape poking through, and I am both happy and sad about it. I really do love this highlighter. When I don’t want a super intense highlight but I want one that flatters my skin tone, I reach for this one. It gives me a nice and natural glow on days when I’m not trying to signal alien life forms in space. It’s worth every penny, in my opinion.

Urban Decay Chill Setting Spray– I love Urban Decay setting sprays. I used to use the all nighter, but I wanted to try the Chill setting spray to see if there’s an obvious difference. I do feel the Chill setting spray works out a little bit better on my skin type, and it does feel really refreshing when you spray it. I have to be careful not to spray too much…it’s expensive.

Milani Bigger Better Lashes– Okay, if you watched my favorites video from a few months ago, I mentioned that I didn’t like the reformulation or whatever Too Faced did to the Better than Sex mascara. I think I have found my replacement. The Milani one has a big volumizing brush and is only $8 at most drugstores. I don’t like the little wonky ball thing on the end though. I have no idea why that’s a thing with a lot of mascaras right now. I feel like it’s about to poke my nose and ruin my day.

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Liner Pen in Black– This is a straight up dupe for the Kat Von D tattoo liner, but only costs $7 on the Jesse’s Girl website. This liner has a calligraphy type brush, which is my personal favorite to work with. It makes it easy to create a very dark and straight line and to get your wings even. When your wings are even, your life is in balance. We all know this.

Korpse Cosmetics Immortal Veil– This is an indie brand that I have only recently discovered through youtube, but I can’t put this immortal veil down. There’s something about this powder that sets my under eye makeup all day, and doesn’t crease at all, even after being outside. This is almost unheard of for me and my eye type. I’m about to purchase a larger size of this to put in my makeup kit because it really is an amazing translucent powder. My only beef is the packaging can make the powder be a little messy, and I really hate feeling like I’m wasting product.

Notoriously Morbid Fruit Loops Chapstick- Fun fact: I’m obsessed with anything that smells like fruit loops. If it smells like process sugar and lemon, I’m on it. It’s a problem. So naturally, the Notoriously Morbid fruit loops chapstick is one I reach for everyday. It’s like an adult way to feel childhood nostalgia. Because lip care is adulting, right?

Baby Bat Beauty Lip Scrubs– I use these lip scrubs constantly. I scrub my lips everyday because I wear matte lipsticks almost everyday. The baby bat beauty ones are cruelty free, vegan, and are very affordable at $6 each. Oh, and I have a coupon code. If you enter the code “lunafayebeauty” at checkout on babybatbeauty.com you can save some money. I highly recommend any of the scents that are cupcake/marshmallow related. The pumpkin spice one is also nice if you’re into it.

I believe that’s everything that I wanted to talk about that’s in makeup bag at the moment. Things like lipstick and eyeshadow are never a constant for me, but I do have a “go to” face routine for the most part. If you have have some holy grail types of products you would like to share, please feel free to do so in the comments!

As always, thank you all for reading, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days.

Swatches: Milani Bare Necessities Palette

milani eyeshadow palette

Hey lovelies,

Long time no swatch. I was browsing around a Walgreens a few weeks ago and stumbled upon the new makeup randomly. Okay, it wasn’t random. I went looking for some new drugstore makeup. I picked a few things up and thought I was done, and then I saw the display with these new Milani eyeshadow palettes. Many are already familiar with Milani’s single shadows, but palettes? Game changing.

I think there were 4 palette choices in all, and I ended up snagging the bare necessities one because it was very neutral. The other one I wanted was already gone, and I’m guessing it’s because there’s a pretty orange shade in the palette.

This palette was $9.99 in Walgreens. There are 6 shades in this, so that amounts to about $1.65 per shade. That’s still very cheap, but I have said this before, drugstore makeup is getting more and more expensive it seems. I will say that I love the packaging right off the bat. I am forever a huge fan of Milani’s gold packaging.

Other than the packaging, the fact that there is a light matte shade and a dark matte shade is promising to me. The reason why is because that means this palette can be used alone to create daytime and nighttime eye looks that have dimension using a matte transition shade and darker outer corner shade. It’s more of a personal preference, but I think palettes that have both mattes and shimmers are the best and most versatile in general.

Another cool thing is that on the back there are 3 pictures of potential looks you can create using this palette. There are a few high end brands that do this as well, including Too Faced and Kat Von D, and I’ve read that people find this helpful, especially if they’re just starting out with makeup. The little brush that comes in this palette is useless and it’s not even worthy of being in the photo. That’s pretty typical of drugstore eyeshadow palettes though. It’s like a tradition.

milani eyeshadow palette

These are the swatches taken in natural daylight.

The only shade that gave me some trouble was the second matte shade, it took me a few times to get that one to show up. The rest of the shades swatches beautifully. The shimmer shades felt awesome, and I was really impressed with the formula. The gold shade crumbled a bit, but that’s also a bit typical for shimmer shades with very buttery formulas. The darker matte shade swatched awesomely as well! Look at that pigmentation!

Okay, but how did it perform on your eyeballs? Not the best quality eyeshadows I have ever worked with, but I was able to create a pretty day time look. The shimmer shades are awesome though! I found them way more pigmented and easier to apply even above the bella eye shimmer singles.

The mattes aren’t my favorite though. The dark brown was okay, but blending it can be tricky. It’s pigmented, but if you blend even a bit too much you risk making the look appear muddy or blending the shade away almost completely.

I will say this palette would be awesome for anyone just starting into makeup. It’s got two mattes and several shimmers to choose from. So, it’s not going to be overwhelming or over complicated for the casual makeup enthusiast.

Will I be picking up any more? I’m not sure. I might wait until I see some more reviews and swatches of a few of the other ones to see, but for right now, I feel underwhelmed. Because only the shimmer shades performed really well for me, I’m not sure if I will be picking this palette up too often. We’ll see. I have some of the new Morphe single shadows on the way, so I might pair this with those.

If you have this palette, what are your thoughts on it? Will you be picking this up if you don’t have it yet? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you all found this to be helpful in some way. As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having great days!

New at the Drugstore! (Haul)

Hey Beauties,

I don’t think I have done a chatty little haul blog post in a very long time. 2015 is over and 2016 is here…and it bears gifts. Makeup gifts. Lots of makeup gifts. It’s a good thing my resolution wasn’t to not buy makeup, because I would’ve failed before New Year’s.

It’s no secret that I love drugstore makeup. As much as I love a great high end palette, I love sharing more affordable options with you all and I like to have them handy in my own collection for personal use and tutorials. There are a few brands that always get me though, and Wet n Wild and Milani are two of them. I always love browsing around different stores for their newest collections.

It’s rare that I am disappointed with the quality of their products. So, when I found an almost untouched display of new products from both their brands, I jumped at the chance to pick a few (a lot) things up.

new milani

First, I’ll talk about some new Milani products.

Basic Neutral Eye Palette $10– At first, I thought this palette was pricey, but then I saw that pretty gold packaging and considered the fact that Loreal sells palettes for $16-20 and figured it was worth it. This is just a standard neutral palette, but there were 3 palettes on the display. I grabbed this one to test them out and see how I like them. I’ve swatched a few of these shades and I really love the dark brown shade and the shimmery one. A few of Milani’s eye products have been major misses lately, so I’m hoping this one will redeem how I feel about their shadows.

Primer Perfection Hydrating Primer $10– I picked this up out of pure curiosity. I have super dry skin in the Winter, and I’m curious as to how a primer can be both hydrating, oil free, and a pore minimizer. I will definitely be talking about this in an upcoming video!

Rose Hip Oil Lip Treatment $8– This was another purchase that I felt was kind of pricey for a drugstore product, but considering the price of competing lip treatments, this was a steal. I’ve already been using this, and I love the smell. I’m not too fond of the huge ass applicator, but the product itself is very moisturizing and if I apply it before bed I wake up with my lips not feeling dried out. It’s also not too thick like true lip masks can be, and feels more like a silky lip oil.

new wet n wild

Okay, the Wet n Wild displays were what I went ham on. I love me some Wet n Wild products. They were also on sale at Walgreens and there were little coupons in places, so double score. Nothing makes me happier than an already affordable brand being on sale.

Brushes 99 cents-2.99– I have been wanting these brushes for SO LONG. They are so freakin’ cute. They were also way cheaper than I expected. Now, these are obviously going to look way cuter than they feel and they do feel a bit plasticy, but the brushes themselves are super soft. I have used the powder brush a few times to put loose powder under my eyes, and it does a great job at being super gentle in that area! The eye brush is awesome as well, and will set you back a whole dollar.

Brow Mascara $5– I actually needed a new brow mascara since my beloved Nyx one was drying out. I’ve used this one a few times, and I honestly may like this more than my Nyx one. The wand on this is slanted so it’s easier to apply it to your brows. This is also a few dollars cheaper than my Nyx one!

Max Fanatic Cat Eye Mascara– Remember when I reviewed that other Max something or another mascara and hated it? I really hope this one is better and I don’t hate it. I need a cruelty free mascara option that isn’t $23 like my all time favorite Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara.

Glow Shimmer Strips ThingI never know what these things are called. This I picked up because it reminded me of the popular Ofra Cosmetics highlighting brush strips. But these aren’t $30, they’re $4.99. This has so much product, and the light pink highlight in this looks a lot like the one I love so much from my limited edition Fair Trade Coffee trio from last Summer.

Lash O Matic Fiber Mascara $8– I bought this out of pure impulse. Most days I wear natural looking false lashes, but I’m wanting to see if this will be any good. I will probably end up doing a first impression video on this product. The Physicians Formula one didn’t “wow” me because the fibers got EVERYWHERE. Honestly, now that I know how to out lashes on properly, it takes me less time to put them on than trying to put 3 million coats of mascara on my wimpy lashes.

I also picked up the new setting spray a few weeks back, but it’s not in the photos. I’ve been using it, and I will say there’s not a lot of product in it. It is nice to have a cruelty free and affordable drugstore option though. Even though the setting spray didn’t blow my mind, it’s still nice and worth looking into!

Well, that’s everything I picked up in this mini drugstore haul. I have a huge Ulta haul on the way, but I’ll probably film that and add my Christmas makeup presents in it as well. So, if you’re interested in that, make sure you’re subscribed to my Youtube channel!

I hope you all enjoyed this little haul post! As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days.

Face of Day: Gold Halo Eye

IMG_1588

Hey lovelies,

It’s Thursday, which means I’m going to show you all a look and talk about some products that I slapped on my face. Okay, I brushed and applied them gently and with a bit of precision, but you all get the point. I have some new things to talk about and I brought out some old favorites. I’m officially doing Autumn looks, and I wanted to start off with something warm and bright, and I added some of my dramatic flare to it.

IMG_1585

I’m not even sure what to call this look? I kinda put several trends together. The grungy red shades, the glamorous halo eye, and vintage red lip. I don’t even understand myself some days.

Anyway, let’s move right along into the selfie overload and details behind this look.

milani romance

Base: I went back to my true love and used my Laura Mercier hydrating primer. I then used my Revlon Colorstay in 110 Ivory as my foundation. Because this is a fall inspired look, I wanted to use something fuller coverage, and the Colorstay formula is an old favorite of mine. The color match is almost perfect (just a tinge too yellow for me) and is full coverage, but doesn’t look cakey or feel weird on my face. I applied it with a real techniques sponge.

I set my powder with the Laura Geller balance and brightening powder in “porcelain” (surprise) and used my Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer in “Chantilly” under my eyes. I also covered up the volcanic blemish I have on my chin with my La Girl green concealer and put a bit more concealer on it. I don’t suggest this for anything but pictures. Sadly, suffocating zits in concealer doesn’t kill them. It only makes them stronger. I set my under eyes with the Ben Nye Luxury powder in Cameo.

Contour: Wet n Wild’s “Dulce De Leche” and the darkest shade in the Elf contour kit on the very outside of the hollow of my cheek, just to add some depth.

Blush: Milani’s “Luminoso” When in doubt, Luminoso.

Hightlight: The Balm’s “Mary-Lou Manizer” I haven’t used this highlight in a hot minute, and it’s always going to be one of my favorites.

milani romance

Eyes: Primer is Hard Candy’s eye primer. I went over that with Nyx’s “Immaculate” single since I was going to be using darker colors and wanted them to blend smoothly, and this was also my brow bone highlight.

Transition shade is “Mourning” by My Pretty Zombie. On the inner and outer parts of the eye I started layering and blending colors. I started with My Pretty Zombie’s “Nymph” and then used “Cocoa Bear” by Makeup Geek, and finally used Makeup Geek’s “Bitten” to darken everything up. The trick with halo eyes is of course to leave the center blank, but always blend and layer in between shades.

In the middle I put down Nyx’s jumbo pencil in “Yogourt” to prime a bit and used elf’s glitter primer on the center of my lid. Once that was tacky I put Lunatick Cosmetic Labs’ ‘Ghouls Gold” on the lid carefully with a flat and dense brush.

milani romance

On the water line I used the Skone Cosmetics lip/eye duo pencil in “Wine” that I got in my Ipsy bag. Feel free to use a brown or something, I just enjoy looking sick. I did the same halo thing on my lower lash line, but I only used “Bitten” and “Cocoa Bear” on the outside and inner parts. I put a teeny bit of glitter primer in the middle and then put Ghoul’s Gold on the blank space. It kinda looks like I’m crying glitter, right? I hope so.

I used my Nyx pearl mania in “white” as a tiny bit of an inner corner highlight. I didn’t go ham like I usually do.

IMG_1582

Brows: Nyx’s Tame and Frame in “Espresso” Nyx’s brow Mascara in ‘Black” and Ofra’s universal brow pencil to give myself some hair looking things in the front.

Liner & Lashes: Physician’s Formula eye booster in ultra black + NYC liquid liner and lashes are Kiss #11. I used Urban Decay’s Perversion mascara to prep my lashes for falsies. I did not put mascara on my lower lash line. I felt that this look looked great without it!

Lips: Lined with Nyx’s “Deep Red” retractable liner and I topped it with Milani’s Amore Lip Creme in “Romance” which is a really bright, blue toned red. I wanted to do a red lip because I felt it pulled out the red and burgundy tones in the eyes.

My necklace is from Rue 21 🙂 I can’t stop wearing it!

Other thoughts: Red is a color that really brings out green eyes and makes them stand out since it’s on the opposite end of the color wheel. With that being said, I know that reds and burgundies are colors that many do not feel comfortable using. I hope that by showing a pretty glam, yet simple, look like this will show that red is an awesome color to work with! It’s one of my favorites to use.

That’s it for today’s Face of the Day post! I hope you all enjoyed this look, and comment if you have any colors or themes you would love to see in my Fall Makeup Look Book! As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days!

Affordable Vampy Colors

IMG_8194

So, I’ve went over some affordable shades of red and my favorite “my lips but better” shades, but I haven’t touched on some of my absolute favorite shades to wear…vampy shades. I know that some people will see this and gasp and shout, “BUT IT ISN’T FALL!” and honestly, who cares? Screw rules. You wanna walk outside in 98 degree weather and rock a dark purple lip, do it. Own that shit.  I wear dark colors all year. There’s just something about a simple eye and bold lip that boosts my confidence. Okay, bold lips in general do that for me.

Beautiful and high quality darker colors do not have to cost you an arm and a leg though. However, if you’re nervous about wearing a vampy color and want to drop $20 on that Anastasia liquid lippie, buying a $5 tube of a similar color could boost your confidence and allow you to see if you like the color beforehand. Skip the usual $5 latte one day and go hit up your nearest Ulta or drugstore, because that’s where many of the shades I’m about to talk about came from!

Nyx Simply Vamp “She Devil” Okay, the name of this lipstick is badass for one, but I am a huge fan of the Simply everything formula by Nyx. I am not a fan of the packaging though. If you can get past that, these are amazing, and will only cost you $6.50 I believe. She Devil is a gorgeous blackened purple color, and it reminds me of Mac’s “Cyber” lipstick that everyone was ga-ga over last year. I don’t have that one to compare, but the formula of the Nyx one is creamier and a bit glossier. It dries down to a more semi-matte finish.

Nyx Simply Vamp “Enamored” Honestly, I recommend checking out all 6 shades in the Simply Vamp line because I own them all, but I tried to choose my absolute favorites, and this is one. Every time I wear this shade I get compliments. It’s a gorgeous burgundy shade with an almost rust look to it. Very 90’s shade, in my opinion. I was a kid in the 90’s so I wouldn’t personally know, so I’m just basing that off of old pictures from The Craft.

Colourpop’s “Pitch” This shade is the essence of the 90’s. It’s a straight up chocolate brown. It’s supposed to be matte, but the Colourpop formula isn’t as matte as a liquid lipstick. This shade is most comparable to Lime Crime’s “Salem,” though it’s not a spot on dupe. I really like to wear this shade on top of the “creature” pencil to give it a more reddish tone. These are also $5 each.

Colourpop “Creature” If I’m being honest, I reach for this shade so often. I love it. It’s a deep burgundy red with a hint of brown in it. This is also matte, and looks a bit more matte on the lips than Pitch does, in my opinion. I don’t always buy the matching pencils with these lippie sticks, but creature is one that I have used so often since I’ve had it.

Colourpop’s “Feminist” The color of this lippie is BOLD. It’s a super dark blackened purple, and it reminds me of Anastasia Bevelry Hills’ “Potion” but of course the Colourpop one isn’t a liquid. So, if you’re not into the liquid lipstick trend, but want a blackened purple, look into this one! The lippie sticks are only 1 gram in product, so if you don’t end up liking it or using it often, it’s not a huge waste of product.

IMG_8196

Milani “Matte Fearless” I know I have mentioned this lipstick so many times already, but it is so perfect. It’s a dark purplish burgundy, and you can’t beat the price for a shade this gorgeous!

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream “Transylvania” This is a cult favorite, and for awhile I didn’t fully understand the hype because the formula is a bit patchy on this shade. However, paired with a deep liner this shade is fantastic. I only added it in here because it is a cult favorite, and someone might be looking for a helpful tip to actually make this shade work. I love the color, but it really does look patchy alone.

City Color Be Matte “Marissa” This is the most matte formula in this post. I have said that before, but I’m saying it again so that everyone knows that this formula is much like the Melt Cosmetics formula. Super matte, and super drying. I did see a post on Dupethat stating that this shade is an exact dupe for Melt Cosmetics “Dark Room” and from what I could tell in the photo, it was a spot on dupe, finish and all. This lipstick costs $5 on the city color website, for can be found for cheaper ($2 for me) at your local Five Below.

Milani “Matte Love” This shade is a deeper cranberry shade. Perfect for those that want to try darker shades but don’t want to go from pink to goth in 2.5 seconds. I feel that this shade would be flattering on several different skin tones, and like I have said before the moisture matte collection by Milani is currently my favorite drugstore matte line.

That’s it for my post today! I hope you all enjoyed it, or at least found it entertaining in some sense. Do you wear vampy shades all year, or only in the Fall and Winter? Are you going to pick up any that I mentioned in this post? Comment and tell me about it!

Milani Comparisons: Matte Naked, Matte Beauty & Enchanted Topaz

IMG_7733

Hey lovelies,

Today’s post is a comparison post with the three nude shades I own by Milani. One was limited edition and is no longer available, and that is what truly compelled me to compare them. I wanted to see if the new “Matte Beauty” is a lot like “Enchanted Topaz.” Maybe someone that follows me was wondering the same thing? I don’t know, but this post is happening anyway.

For starters, I do have separate posts with swatches of both Matte Naked and Matte Beauty. I will link those at the end of this post. Matte Naked came out with the first batch of new Milani Moisture Matte lipsticks, and Matte Beauty is part of the newer line. Enchanted Topaz came out before both Matte Naked and Beauty, I believe with a holiday set. The packaging is different, and the color was beautiful! I do still prefer the typical all gold packaging with the gold top, personally.

IMG_7734

Swatches from left to right: Matte Naked, Enchanted Topaz, Matte Beauty

Okay, so, the first thing I noticed is that all three of these shades are pretty different. Neither Matte Beauty or Matte Naked are very close to Enchanted Topaz. I love all three of these shades, and I think they’re wonderful nudes! However, I did find that Enchanted Topaz seems to be a way drier formula than the new line of matte lipsticks. I don’t particularly mind because the more matte the better to me, and I view the mattest of formulas as a challenge to improve my lip game. If you do not feel the same way and your first experience with a matte Milani lipstick was Enchanted Topaz and you wanted to toss baby snails onto hot pavement, have no fear, the formulas are different.

The moisture matte (newer) formula is way more comfortable on the lips than Enchanted Topaz was. If you didn’t snag Enchanted Topaz, or you’re running low on it because you loved the heck out of it, there are now two other brown-nude shades to choose from!

What do you think of these swatches? What are your thoughts on the differences and/or similarities?

Also, if you like comparison posts like these, let me know or give me suggestions! Doing comparisons kinda helps me out as well, because I have a problem with buying about 10 of the same color…except for red. I will never stop buying every red lipstick.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this post or found it helpful in some way! I hope you’re all having lovely days!

New Milani Matte Lipsticks: Swatches

milani matte

Hey lovelies,

Today’s Swatch Saturday post is going to be about some new Milani products I came across last week! I’ve seen pictures here and there about the new Limited Edition Rose Blushes, but not a lot about the new range of shades added to the Moisture Matte lipstick collection. While there are quite a few new shades, I believe these are permanent, unlike the blushes.

I’ve already done a full review before of Milani’s matte lipsticks that I will link at the end of the post, just to make this post a wee bit shorter, and therefore sweeter.

IMG_7623

On the display there were between 8-10 new shades from what I could see, but I only picked up four. I actually found these at my local Kmart, which has been my go-to place to find new Milani and Jordana collections. For some reason, the people in my area don’t pick through the Kmart displays and I can get what I want in one trip. If you’re someone that collects makeup, you’ll feel me on this one…it’s glorious.

I picked up the shades Matte Love, Matte Fearless, Matte Iconic, and Matte Beauty. Honestly, I’m so ecstatic that Milani expanded this line and included some vampier shades and more reds. I love this formula! Seriously, if I had to pick just one matte drugstore range to recommend to others, it would be from Milani. Maybe I’m a bit biased because Milani is one of my favorite drugstore brands, but I don’t care.

I’m also happy to announce that the new shades also smell like cupcakes. That’s what really matters here, right?

IMG_7631

One of the other reasons why I love Milani lip products is that they have those neat colored bottoms with the names on them. It makes storage and organization easier, and the gold packaging is adorable. I can’t believe that these lipsticks are only $4.99 since the packaging and lipsticks are amazing. It’s typically one or the other is kinda dud-tastic when it comes to drugstore lipsticks.

milani matte

swatches from left to right: Matte Beauty, Matte Love, Matte Iconic, Matte Fearless

Matte Beauty is a very warm brown nude with a bit of red undertones. Lovely shade.

Matte Love is a warmer cranberry shade with warm undertones as well. I think this shade will look wonderful with cranberry eyeshadow looks this Fall.

Matte Iconic is a true bright red. This is my ideal “pinup” shade, and what I think of when I think about vintage reds. I absolutely adore this shade, mostly because I love red lipstick.

Matte Fearless is a gorgeous dark burgundy with slight purple undertones. My favorite of this bunch, and possibly in this collection so far.

That about wraps up today’s swatch post! I hope you all enjoyed it! Are you picking up any of the new shades? If so, which ones? Tell me about it!

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you’re all having great weekends!

The Blush Addict Tag

IMG_6803

Hey lovelies,

Today I have a tag post regarding one of my favorite things to collect and hoard…blushes! I saw this tag on Katie’s page at Plus+ Beauty and knew I had to do this one.

I can’t leave the house with my brows and my blush. I’m super fair, so a bit of color in my cheeks livens my face up a bit and makes me look more awake. I mean, I guess I could do the “cheek pinching” trick, but there’s something about pinching my own cheeks that brings back bad family reunion memories *shudders*

Anyway, on to the questions.

What color blush suits your most?
I feel like cool toned pinks and light peachy nude shades suite me the most.

Pressed, cream or loose blush?
I’ve honestly never cared much for loose blush, and I’m just now dabbling into cream blushes unless you consider Colourpop blushes to be a cream. Most of my collection is pressed.

Favorite shimmery blush?
IMG_4926

Probably my CityColor Cosmetics Baked blushes. They are soooo pretty and pigmented.

Favorite matte blush?

Kat Von D Everlasting blush in “essex.” It’s such a pretty deep rose shade and is my go to blush in the fall and winter.

Favorite cream blush?

Colourpop blushes are a very “cream to powder” texture, so I will say them. I really love these blushes. They’re bouncy and pigmented. They’re also very affordable! However, I have been trying a cream blush from Becca that I got off of glambot, and so far I am really impressed by it! I will update on that later!

Favorite drugstore blush?

This was a bit hard for me because I love Milani blushes, but I also reach for my pearlescent pink by Wet n Wild more than any other blush in my collection. I feel like these blushes need more attention in the blogging world. They’re awesome for the price!

Favorite high end blush?

My Kat Von D everlasting blushes. These really do last forevvvver on my skin and it doesn’t take much at all. That and the packaging is absolutely stunning. So worth the $25. There’s a reason why so many shades of these are constantly sold out on sephora.com

Biggest blush disappointment?
Probably the elf studio line blushes. Everyone raves about those blushes and I just find them to be underwhelming and they don’t last long on my skin. I do like the $5 mineral line blushes by elf though.

Best blush packaging?
I would have to say the Milani Rose blush packaging or the Too Faced blushing hearts packaging. Both are so cute and end up in so many of my blog photos.

What’s on your blush wishlist?
More Colourpop blushes and more Nyx HD blushes

Holy grail blush?
I guess I would say my Wet n Wild “pearlescent pink” blush because it’s my “go to” but I don’t have one that I love way more than any other. “Love Song” by Kat Von D has been my go to Spring color though along with Nyx’s “Dusty Rose.”
I just really really love blush.

That was it for my blush addict tag! I’m not going to tag anyone in this, so if you want to do it, do it! I would love to see your answers and pictures of your blush stashes if you include them. What are some of your favorite blushes?

I hope you’re all having wonderful days! Later, lovelies.

Milani XL Bronzer: Dolci Collection

milani bronzer

Hey lovelies,

Who’s up for more swatches of new, but limited edition, things from the drugstore?

I have seen pictures floating around instagram of the new Dolci collection by Milani in drugstores, and while I was making a run to CVS I saw the display in my store. On the display there was an eyeshadow, lipstick, lip gloss, nail polish, and this big ole bronzer duo. They’re all named Dolci. I only picked up the bronzing duo though, because I actually don’t own many bronzers.

They scare me. I’m so afraid of looking like an orange or that it will look good in my mirror and like shit in natural light that I honestly just don’t use bronzers often. With Summer approaching though, I do want to give them a try again and see if I can find one that warms up my face more than my Body Shop Honey Bronzer without making me look like an orange covered in dorito crumbs.

This bronzer and highlight duo claims to be for all skin types. That’s a pretty big claim. I picked this up for $10, which is expensive in terms of drugstore products, but there is 12 grams of product in this baby and the “shelf life” of it (if you go by that kind of thing) is 36 months. So, I do believe for the amount of product there is and given you can use this for 3+ years…$10 is a pretty decent price.

Personally, I love the packaging of this duo. It’s so Summery. The little imprinting seems to not go all the way through the product, but pretty far into it. To give an idea of the size, it fits perfectly into the palm of my hand. It’s a pretty decent size.

On the left is the bronzer and the right is the highlight shade

These swatched very nicely. They didn’t feel powdery or apply unevenly. Both sides were very soft to the touch.

Bronzer: When you look in the pan you can see shimmery flecks in the bronzer, but it doesn’t translate onto the skin very much. This shade is pretty warm, but I have tried it once and it looked great on my skin when I used a very very light hand with it. It’s warm, but it’s not overly warm bordering on orange, if that makes sense. It does look and apply very nicely to the skin.

Highlighter: I’m trying to figure out what I can use this shade for. It’s gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but it’s too dark for me to really use on my face as a highlight or to set anything. I may try it as an eyeshadow. I’m definetely a bit perplexed by it, but I will eventually find a use for it.

Overall thoughts: I’m happy with the bronzing side. It’s still a bit intimidating right now to me to apply, but I feel that as Summer draws nearer and my skin deepens up 1-2 more shades that it will look way better on me and not intimidate me as much. However, I feel that if you’re darker than me you should totally consider this duo! I think the overall quality and price is amazing if you’re looking to add something pretty to your collection.

Have you picked this up at your local drugstore? What are your thoughts on it? If you haven’t gotten it, will you be snagging one? Comment down below!

As always, thanks for reading and if you’re new to my blog I hope you decide to stick around!
