BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes Palette Review

bh cosmetics foil eyes palette

Ah, another day, another palette review.

I know I’ve done quite a few palette reviews over the past few weeks, but with good reasoning. 1. I actually sold a few non-cruelty free palettes and ones I wasn’t reaching for so I could justify buying some new and more colorful palettes 2. Well, these reviews benefit anyone else that’s curious, right? Just think of me as your friendly neighborhood kinda goth makeup guinea pig.

Anyway, I have a review of the new BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes palette. Ironically, a few of the palettes I placed up for sale on my Postmark are from BH Cosmetics. I wasn’t going to get this one until I saw Shannon Shortcake’s comparison video. I am quite sure she had some hypnosis going on in that video because before I knew it, I had this in my cart and was checking out.

Shimmer shadows and foiled shades are something I’ve been trying to work more with this past year. I find they add so much dimension and glamour to a look, but aren’t as hard to use as say glitter. Some of the most popular foiled shadows are from Makeup Geek, but those are also $10 a shade, which isn’t in everyone’s budget. They’re gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but I love seeing other brands create more affordable “dupes” of cult favorites.

This palette comes with 28 shades, and I ordered it for $12. That’s roughly 42 cents per shade, which is pretty freakin sweet compared to the $10 per shade Makeup Geek’s foiled shadows are.

This palette is also vegan friendly, and claims to contain highly pigmented metallic shades that are easy to blend. That’s some high claims for a shadow, but how did these stand against my own high standards? Let’s start with the basics.

The packaging itself is very standard, and very boring. The top of it is clear though, which is something I like with palettes of this sort. I wish my Morphe palettes had clear tops so I wouldn’t have to flip them upside down constantly. I will say that my palette arrive in one piece, but some of the pans were a bit loose. The glue that holds these in seems to be a bit cheap, but if this occurs to you the solution is simple, you can just place them back with hot glue and reinforce them. Mine did press back down though, so it wasn’t too big of a bother. Just something to be aware of.

The shade selection in this palette is dreamy. Observe:

Right off the bat, I love the shade selection and lay out of this palette. It’s very aesthetically pleasing to me, and I love the wide variety of shades. This is a palette that I feel everyone can find several shades they love. There are purples, pinks, blue, neutrals, coppers, and even a “blue brown” type of shade. Paired with the right matte palettes, you can create any type of look your heart desires. I legitimately gasped when I saw the purple and lilac shades in person. I have such a weak spot for shimmery purples. I feel they make my green eyes stand out, and it’s one of the only colors outside of neutrals that I feel truly comfortable working with.

As for swatches:

bh cosmetics foil eyes

bh cosmetics foil eyes

bh cosmetics foil eyes

These are all swatched under no primer and under daylight lamps. Are these as reflective as the Makeup Geek foiled shadows? Certainly not, but in my opinion, these are really amazing for the low price point! What’s even better is the fact that you can spritz a bit of setting spray on your brush and wear these wet. That’s going to create that more “metallic” effect if that’s what you’re desiring. The only shade that disappointed me when I swatched these was the blackened teal shade. It really wasn’t “foiled” to me and looked kinda blah and one dimensional. That’s really the only shade that was like that for me though.

These shadows can be a bit powdery, and I recommend tapping your brush before applying to your eyes. Makeup Geek’s can be a bit powdery on me as well, which is why I gravitate towards using my fingers to apply the darker shades. I’m not trying to give myself a bright blue highlight.

I’ve applied these wet and dry, with a brush, and with my finger. Of course, with most shimmer shadows, applying with your finger is going to give the greatest pigmentation. However, I’ve found that these apply very well with a flat shader brush as well. Paired with the right  matte palette(s), you can create some stellar colorful looks and neutral looks!

I’ve been creating looks with this palette for a little over a week now. I got this palette about the same time as my Makeup Geek and Manny MUA palette, and I’m not gonna lie, I’ve reached for this one more than the Makeup Geek one.

In the first look I used the peachy toned shade dry and then went over it again with a wet brush and used the white shade in the inner corner. In the second look I used the charcoal shimmer on the lid for a “halo” effect, and then used the bright blue and yellow on the lower lash line. I wanted to show the versatility of this palette by doing one “soft” look and another fun look that was actually completely out of my comfort zone.

I also created a talk through tutorial using this palette, where I show the steps on creating the first peachy look I did:

Overall, I’m enjoying this palette so much right now! It’s been fun to play with as the days grow longer and a tad bit warmer, which automatically makes me want to add a bit of shimmer and color to my makeup routine. Not to mention, this palette is affordable and I feel it’s one anyone that wants to add some shimmer to their eye makeup routine should look into!

This has to be my favorite palette BH Cosmetics has come out with thus far. I loved the Zombies palette, but I feel BH nailed trying to create a palette that everyone would enjoy, from neutral to color lovers.

What are your thoughts on this palette? Will this be one that you add to your collection? Let me know your thoughts down below! I love hearing from you all.

As always, thanks for stopping by. I hope you all found this review informative or entertaining in some way. I hope you you’re all having wonderful days.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lipsticks Review

Hey lovelies,

I’m back into the swing of doing lipstick reviews! I’m excited, lipstick is my favorite thing to wear and review for you all. I recently picked up 6 of the new Colourpop Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks. I wanted to try them out and compare them to the ultra matte ones, and see if they were worth the hype.

I try not to do things because “youtube made me do it” but when I see something so hyped up and almost every single person is holding one of those huge PR boxes…I feel the need to try it out and put it to the test. Am I the only one here?

Anyway, these are the same price as the ultra matte ones ($6) and come in 16 different shades to start. Knowing Colourpop, that will quickly expand before we all know it and there will be about 100 to choose from.

Personally, I like these. I don’t find them to be super revolutionary and I don’t feel the need to own every single one, but they are comfortable and some of the shades are very lovely.

I go over all this in the video though. I hope you all enjoy it! If you’re not subscribed to my channel, please do so if you want. You’ll get to see when I upload first!

As always, thanks for stopping by, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days!

BH Cosmetics Pride + Prejudice + Zombies Palette

pride prejudice zombies palette bh cosmetics

Hey lovelies,

Ready for some swatches and a review? I picked this palette up awhile back. I am such a sucker for cute packaging…and zombies. This BH Cosmetics palette came out close to the release of Pride + Prejudice + Zombies in theaters. Has anyone seen that movie yet? Is it worth going to see? It looks awesome, but I haven’t had much time for movies lately.

Anyway, the packaging of this palette is so badass, but it also has a badass price point. I ordered this for $12.50 off their site when it was first released, and I also used ebates! You can actually get 7.5% cash back from BH Cosmetics through ebates, and if you’re unfamiliar with the site, it’s just a site that gives you a percentage of cash back from a ton of online sites when you shop through them! I’ll leave my referral link at the end of the post, as well as a link to the actual palette (not affiliate).

When you open the palette, magic happens.

bh cosmetics palette

This palette comes with 10 shadows and 3 cheek products. Right off the bat, I love how unique the shade layout is compared to almost every other eyeshadow palette I own. It’s rare that I see purples, silvers, and burgundies in one palette! However, the theme of this palette is zombies, so I’m sure they wanted to create a palette where everyone can create that #deadgirlglam kinda look.

Sometimes BH Cosmetics shadows can be hit or miss for me, but when I swatched this palette I was really impressed with the quality!

BH cosmetics eyeshadow

These are all the eyeshadow shades swatched over a primer. The only shade that didn’t show up well was the matte cream shade, because it was the same shade as my skin. Other than that, every shade swatched smoothly, especially the shimmer shades!

bh cosmetics

These are the 3 cheek shades, and they swatched very nicely as well! The highlighter shade is probably not going to work if you have fair skin, but it looks like it would make a really pretty eyeshadow! I love the blush shades though. I think they did a great job at picking one shade that will work on lighter/medium skin tones and one that is intense enough to work on deeper skin tones.

Pros:

Very affordable

Cruelty free, and vegan friendly

A grungy style palette with shimmer that is affordable to everyone, including those that might want to try darker looks, but are afraid of spending too much on something else

Beautiful packaging that will look awesome in your collection forever

Packaging is also travel friendly in several ways. The packaging will make it easy to travel, and there are cheek shades in it, so you won’t have to bring as many products! Neat!

Very pigmented

Blendable, but not too much so. One of my biggest pet peeves with shadows can be when you go to blend them and they all muddy up, no matter how light of a hand you’re using. I haven’t had that issue with this palette.

Gorgeous shimmer shades and burgundies. This is a pro to me, we should all know why by now. I want to see more burgundies in affordable palettes.

Almost matte black. This is crucial to me with palettes like this, because it can add so much dimension to a look. I don’t always understand why companies put super sparkly blacks in smokier palettes.

Cons:

Not a ton of mattes. There’s one “transition” type of shade, but I feel this palette is missing a cooler toned mid tone brown to also use as a transition. I don’t personally like using a warm brown transition shade with purples, so I do have to reach for something else if I want to use the silver and purples.

A bit powdery. It’s not enough to be annoying to me, but some product does kick up when you dip your brush into it. Just make sure to tap your brush before applying product to your eye.

Highlighter shade does not work well for fair skin tones. However, this shade will probably look stunning on medium and deeper skin tones! So, it’s not a full con, but it is for me.

The silver shade has an overspray. This shade was the only one that made my heart a bit sad. I swatched it and watched the metallic look disappear. However, that’s the only shade like that, so it’s not the end of the world.

IMG_5185

So, would I recommend this palette to others? Definitely. If you love unique packaging and shade layouts, I feel this palette might be for you. I also love that it’s not going to break the bank, and that it’s vegan and paraben free. I’ve been so impressed with most of my picks from BH Cosmetics lately!

If you’re wanting to check this palette out for yourself, just click here.

If you’re wanting to save money while buying makeup, here’s my ebates referral link.

Oh, and I did use a few of the shades from this palette in my last Youtube tutorial! I used the shimmery lavender shade over a deeper purple, and the result was stunning!

What are your thoughts on this palette? Will you be picking it up? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section! I love to hear from you all.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and checking out this review. I hope you all found it helpful or entertaining in some manner. I hope you’re all having wonderful days!

Nyx Lip Lingerie Review + Swatches

nix lip lingerie

Hey beauties,

I recently posted a new video on my Youtube channel! I’ve been meaning to do a review with swatches of the Lingerie lipsticks I own, and now it’s finally up! Also, I changed my lighting and I’ve been uploading in HD, which means my videos now show my true skin tone. In case you’re wondering why the sudden weird overall change.

I go over everything in the video, but overall I’m pretty happy with these. Some shades are kinda “meh” in texture, but some shades are fantastic! I like these way more than the liquid suedes. I don’t think these are a “drop everything and buy these RIGHT NOW” type of liquid lipstick, but they’re nice to play around with.

nix bedtime flirt

This shade surprised me. It’s called Bedtime Flirt, and I feel this may be the peachy nude I reach for this Spring! Very subtly sexy.

IMG_4909

I swatched this shade a few weeks back on my Instagram. It’s called “Honeymoon” and in my opinion, it’s the best shade in this line. I own a lot of greige shades, but this one is actually different than my other ones.

If you’re interestted in watching the video, here it is:

I hope you all enjoy the review! As always, thanks for stopping by! I hope you’re all having wonderful days.

New at the Drugstore! (Haul)

Hey Beauties,

I don’t think I have done a chatty little haul blog post in a very long time. 2015 is over and 2016 is here…and it bears gifts. Makeup gifts. Lots of makeup gifts. It’s a good thing my resolution wasn’t to not buy makeup, because I would’ve failed before New Year’s.

It’s no secret that I love drugstore makeup. As much as I love a great high end palette, I love sharing more affordable options with you all and I like to have them handy in my own collection for personal use and tutorials. There are a few brands that always get me though, and Wet n Wild and Milani are two of them. I always love browsing around different stores for their newest collections.

It’s rare that I am disappointed with the quality of their products. So, when I found an almost untouched display of new products from both their brands, I jumped at the chance to pick a few (a lot) things up.

new milani

First, I’ll talk about some new Milani products.

Basic Neutral Eye Palette $10– At first, I thought this palette was pricey, but then I saw that pretty gold packaging and considered the fact that Loreal sells palettes for $16-20 and figured it was worth it. This is just a standard neutral palette, but there were 3 palettes on the display. I grabbed this one to test them out and see how I like them. I’ve swatched a few of these shades and I really love the dark brown shade and the shimmery one. A few of Milani’s eye products have been major misses lately, so I’m hoping this one will redeem how I feel about their shadows.

Primer Perfection Hydrating Primer $10– I picked this up out of pure curiosity. I have super dry skin in the Winter, and I’m curious as to how a primer can be both hydrating, oil free, and a pore minimizer. I will definitely be talking about this in an upcoming video!

Rose Hip Oil Lip Treatment $8– This was another purchase that I felt was kind of pricey for a drugstore product, but considering the price of competing lip treatments, this was a steal. I’ve already been using this, and I love the smell. I’m not too fond of the huge ass applicator, but the product itself is very moisturizing and if I apply it before bed I wake up with my lips not feeling dried out. It’s also not too thick like true lip masks can be, and feels more like a silky lip oil.

new wet n wild

Okay, the Wet n Wild displays were what I went ham on. I love me some Wet n Wild products. They were also on sale at Walgreens and there were little coupons in places, so double score. Nothing makes me happier than an already affordable brand being on sale.

Brushes 99 cents-2.99– I have been wanting these brushes for SO LONG. They are so freakin’ cute. They were also way cheaper than I expected. Now, these are obviously going to look way cuter than they feel and they do feel a bit plasticy, but the brushes themselves are super soft. I have used the powder brush a few times to put loose powder under my eyes, and it does a great job at being super gentle in that area! The eye brush is awesome as well, and will set you back a whole dollar.

Brow Mascara $5– I actually needed a new brow mascara since my beloved Nyx one was drying out. I’ve used this one a few times, and I honestly may like this more than my Nyx one. The wand on this is slanted so it’s easier to apply it to your brows. This is also a few dollars cheaper than my Nyx one!

Max Fanatic Cat Eye Mascara– Remember when I reviewed that other Max something or another mascara and hated it? I really hope this one is better and I don’t hate it. I need a cruelty free mascara option that isn’t $23 like my all time favorite Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara.

Glow Shimmer Strips ThingI never know what these things are called. This I picked up because it reminded me of the popular Ofra Cosmetics highlighting brush strips. But these aren’t $30, they’re $4.99. This has so much product, and the light pink highlight in this looks a lot like the one I love so much from my limited edition Fair Trade Coffee trio from last Summer.

Lash O Matic Fiber Mascara $8– I bought this out of pure impulse. Most days I wear natural looking false lashes, but I’m wanting to see if this will be any good. I will probably end up doing a first impression video on this product. The Physicians Formula one didn’t “wow” me because the fibers got EVERYWHERE. Honestly, now that I know how to out lashes on properly, it takes me less time to put them on than trying to put 3 million coats of mascara on my wimpy lashes.

I also picked up the new setting spray a few weeks back, but it’s not in the photos. I’ve been using it, and I will say there’s not a lot of product in it. It is nice to have a cruelty free and affordable drugstore option though. Even though the setting spray didn’t blow my mind, it’s still nice and worth looking into!

Well, that’s everything I picked up in this mini drugstore haul. I have a huge Ulta haul on the way, but I’ll probably film that and add my Christmas makeup presents in it as well. So, if you’re interested in that, make sure you’re subscribed to my Youtube channel!

I hope you all enjoyed this little haul post! As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days.

Swatch Saturday: Revealed Smoky Palette

coastal scents revealed smoky

Hey beauties,

I feel like I don’t get to do swatch Saturday posts as often as I formally did, but I have a really exciting one to share today! I’ll be showing swatches of the brand new Coastal Scents Revealed Palette and giving my very first impressions.

Did anyone else squeal when they saw bloggers revealing this and putting it next to the Urban Decay Smoky palette? Because I totally did. If you’re unfamiliar with Coastal Scents, they create Revealed palettes that come with 20 shades each, and many times the shades are dupes for Urban Decay Naked shades.

If you’re new to my blog, I’m obsessed with the Revealed 2 palette. I use it over many of the high end palettes. It’s so awesome. I recently did a tutorial with the Revealed Palette, which is also a great palette to have if you’re into cool tones. I don’t have the Revealed 3 because it didn’t appeal to me, and it didn’t get great overall reviews. So, when I saw Thataylaa rave about this…I knew I was going to order it the day it came out. We all know how much I love a great smokey eye. I’m still not sure why Coastal Scents also spelled Smoky wrong like Urban Decay did though.

Anyway, the packaging of this palette is my favorite so far. It’s got that marble type smoke look to it, and it just looks really clean despite it being in cardboard, in my opinion. Yes, this is a cardboard type palette, so it’s not like the gorgeous packaging of the Naked Smoky one.

This palette is only $19.95 though, and comes with almost twice as many shades. Right off the bat, I noticed this palette had a decent mixture of matte and shimmer shades. Something that is always important to me in palettes is whether or not there’s both matte and shimmer. An all matte palette can look a bit flat, and an all shimmer palette can lack dimension and depth.

I don’t own the Naked Smoky palette, so I can’t compare quality or shades, but as an overall darker type of palette, I love this. I think Coastal Scents did a great job at making sure there were darker and lighter shades. There’s a really nice cool toned transition shade and cream shade. My initial thoughts before swatching were, “I can create daytime and night time smokey eyes with this. Heck yes.”

After I swatched every shade, my mind was made. This palette is awesome so far! There are no shade names, but the left picture is swatches from the top row, and the right from the bottom row.

The only shades that took a bit of work for me to swatch were the cream shade and the the navy blue shade. The navy shade was a bit patchy and had to be built up, but I’m not saying it’s a total dud, and neither is the cream shade. They just took a bit of work.

The shimmer shades in this palette swatched like a dream though! Very smooth, and the only one that was a little too buttery and crumbled a bit was the deep taupe shade on the bottom row.

The dark brown and gray shades in this palette are to die for. I used those in my look for my Black Moon Cosmetics Review, and they blended out so easily, and were very pigmented. The shades didn’t get muddy on me, which is a pet peeve of mine regarding darker themed palettes. I don’t enjoy when all the shades look pretty in the palette and then when you go to swatch them they all look the same. I didn’t experience that feeling while swatching these. There’s always that one shade for me in Revealed palettes that steals my heart, and in this one it’s the dark gray shade. It’s so perfect.

However, I’m a fan of all these shades and I can’t wait to create more looks and tutorials using it! Winter is almost here, which means panda smokey eyed Kayla will come out to play way more often. Or maybe alien Kayla. Definitely both.

Do I feel this palette is worth it? Yes, I really do.As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t own the Naked Smoky palette, and I don’t know if I will ever end up getting it. I’m not sure if I will need it now that I have this palette. If you own the Naked Smoky palette, you might not need this one as well. If you don’t own it, but you’re interested in a palette that has a dupe for every shade and has double the amount of shades for less than half the price…get it.

What are your thoughts on this palette? Will you be snagging this anytime soon or passing on it?  Tell me all about it!

Colourpop Throws it Back: Haul + Swatches

colourpop fall

Hey beauties!

It’s Saturday, and I have some swatches for you all! Okay, so remember when I said I needed to stop shopping so much? Well, as soon as I said that everyone dropped previews of their Fall lines. I was lying to myself before I even knew I was lying to myself. However, I was better and narrowed down what I really really wanted from Colourpop’s Throwback line to 6 things. These were the 6 things that I knew I would use in tutorials or on an everyday basis.

If you’re unfamiliar with Colourpop, they are an indie company that is quickly growing in popularity on Instagram and Youtube. Their products are very affordable. Their shadows are $5 each and their lippie pencils and sticks are also $5 each. Now, their lippie sticks only come with 1 gram of product (1/3 of what is in MAC lipsticks for reference) but that’s perfect for me, because I rarely ever use up lipsticks.

Anyway, I picked up 6 items, 3 shadows and 3 lip products, from the Colourpop Throws it Back collection. This collection is inspired by the 90’s, from the names to the colors. Colourpop tends to nail trendy colors, and they did not disappoint with this line. It’s filled with cool tones, browns, reds, and dark plum shades. You can get your Craft on with these shades.

IMG_1953 IMG_1955

I picked up 3 shadows that I thought would be great together or separately. I settled on Mixed Tape, Central Perk, and Straight Trippin.

Anyone else a huge Friends fan? When I saw the name of one was Central Perk, I knew I needed it. It could have been dead slug slime green and I probably would’ve still gotten it. I was in luck, because this is probably one of the most beauty burgundy shades I have swatched in a bit. I haven’t gasped at a burgundy eyeshadow since I swatched Melt’s ‘Enigma” awhile back. It’s so lush.

IMG_1954

These are the swatches. Left to right: Mixed Tape, Central Perk, Straight Trippin

I really want to create a messy smokey eye with these shades. I don’t think I’ve done a messy smokey eye yet on my blog or Youtube channel where I didn’t have some elaborate cat wing or something. These are all gorgeous though, and I highly recommend getting Mixed Tape and Central Perk.

IMG_1957

I also picked up 2 lippie sticks and a lippie pencil. I got the lippie pencil and stick in “Grunge” and the lippie stick in “Poison.” Okay, Poison is awesome and I’m hoping this shade is named after the band and not the poison apple in Snow White. Well, either are pretty badass in my book. I digress. It’s a red, so yeah I had to have it.

Grunge is a mid tone cooler brown shade. I really feel like Colourpop nailed this shade. They gave people a more affordable option to relive that 90’s lip. That’s what I’ve always loved about their brand.

IMG_1958

Swatches left to right: grunge stick, grunge pencil, poison

Curious about how Poison compares to the other reds from Colourpop? I was too! So I did a comparison post:

IMG_1960

From left to right: Lady, Bichette, Blood, Poison

Poison reminds me of a mix of blood and lady.

That was everything that I got from this collection…so far. Ha! Did you all pick anything up from this collection? Let me know!

I hope you all enjoyed this post! As always, thanks for reading and I hope you’re all having wonderful days!

Wet n Wild: Hemporary Solutions

IMG_7917

Hey loves,

Today for my “Swatch Saturday” post I am going to be sharing something rather colorful! I know, color is something that is rarely on my blog. I’m a neutral kind of gal. However, when I stumbled on this palette (and another, but more on that in a few) some of the colors reminded me of shades I have seen in the Urban Decay Electric palette and in a few Sugarpill palettes. You know, palettes that I lust over but won’t spend the money on because I know I don’t reach for bright colors often. Those palettes.

Well, I have a solution! However, you may want to find these quick, because what I’m about to talk about is limited edition. I can hear you all sighing already. I’m so sorry. I wish limited edition and affordable eyeshadow palettes just weren’t a thing. It’s heartbreaking.

Anyway, this palette is by Wet n Wild, and I found it at my local Kmart. However, Wet n Wild can also be found at Walgreens and CVS. It was $5, and there are 8 shadows in the palette. That is essentially 62 cents per shadow, hell yes. There are 6 matte shades and 2 shimmer shades. I like that there are a few shimmery shades, because all matte bright colors can look a bit odd on my eyes, and the shimmer helps to balance that out a bit.

IMG_7917

First thing I noticed is that every single color is bright. Super bright. If you’re someone that likes a warm transition shade, you will definitely need to pull from another palette, or you could possibly mix the white with another shade to create a lighter transition shade.

I only tried this once on my eyes so far, and I will say that even with a primer the pink and red kind of stained my eyelid a bit. Meaning, these are freakin’ intense. The pigmentation on these is superb, and reminds me of the former Wet n Wild quality from a few years ago that I’ve missed oh so much.

As far as I can tell from the few times I have tried this out, the shades are very blendable. They applied smoothly and didn’t look too chalky or drying on my lids. The colors didn’t look muddy and the same on my lids, which is a plus.

IMG_7949

These are swatches of all 8 shades. Are you seeing that yellow and red? I would have paid the money just for those two shades! I have been looking for an affordable and nice yellow for awhile, because I want to go all out when we take my daughters to the Minions movie. Yes, I went there. Mom life. Minion life.

Do I recommend these? Yes. A million times yes. All of the yes in the world. If you see these, snag one of each in the collection, because like I said they won’t be around forever. If you like to play with color sometimes, but don’t want to spend $40+ on a palette to do so, check these out. There are 3 in the collection, and for $15 total you can walk out with 24 different shades to play with. That is a win in my makeup book.

Have you seen these? Have you picked one up, or are you going to? Let me know what your thoughts are! I’m totally going to play around with this palette more, and if I come up with a neat look I will post it! I may even post my minion look.

As always, thanks for reading if you made it this far! I hope you all enjoyed this short and sweet swatch saturday post. I picked up another one of these palettes that I will be posting swatches of soon!

Have a good day, lovelies.

Hey Beauties,

Today I have more things to review and swatch! I feel like that’s what most of my posts have been lately, but the Summer collections are starting to hit drugstores and the products obviously just want to come home and live with me. So, they magically end up in my hands and before I know it I’m paying for them and walking out the door. Makeup trance, I swear.

Anyway, I’m pretty excited to be reviewing these because I have noticed online that they are starting to pop up in more stores. When I saw the display for these I noticed there are 3 trio palettes in all. I did not pick up the third one simply because every shade in it was way too dark for my skin tone.

I did pick up the other two in “Fair Trade Coffee” and “Sunset Junction” though. These were $3.99 each at my local Walgreens, or $1.33 per shade since there are 3 shades in each palette. There are 12 grams of product in each of these, so I for sure got my money’s worth in terms of amount of product vs. the price, which is something I personally consider when buying limited edition items.

Something I struggle with when it comes to limited edition items is that I don’t want to buy something and not use it, or feel afraid to love it and use it too quickly. I’m sure any makeup collector/enthusiast has felt this struggle at some point or another. However, when companies put a lot of product in a limited edition item it gives me a bit more room to fall in potential love with it, and makes me more likely to purchase it.

Each trio has a bronzer, highlight, and blush. There’s no separation between each product in the pan, so I’m not sure if that’s going to be a problem in the future.

Swatches:

wet n wild fair trade coffee

These are swatches from “Fair Trade Coffee.” Odd name, but I really love the blush and highlight in this one. The blush is very pigmented and is a pretty dark pink color. I love pink blushes on every skin tone. I feel this shade of blush is one that many skin tones can wear and either lightly apply it or pack it on. The bronze shade is way too orange for my skin tone, but I could probably use it as a crease shade if I’m in a pinch. If not, I still love this trio and I’m very happy with it. I’ve worn the highlight a few times and it’s super pretty and fairly subtle, yet glamorous at the same time. It has a bit of sparkle to it, which is something to keep in mind. I like a bit of sparkle in my highlight though. I like to shine bright like a diamond.

These are swatches from “Sunset Junction.” Once again, I would not be able to get away with that bronzer, but the other two shades are so lovely. I have been using the blush and highlight from this trio often since I’ve picked it up. The blush is pigmented and is a pretty light pink, and paired with the highlight it gives my skin a very radiant and healthy glow, which is something I need taking care of two small kids everyday. Fake it till you make it, right?

Overall: I’m impressed and happy with these. For $3.99 each I feel these are awesome little trios for Spring and Summer. The colors are pigmented, and they are smooth and easy to blend out. The bronzers are super orange, which is disappointing, but I would totally buy these again and I don’t regret this purchase. Even if you’re not a fan of sparkly highlighters, you could probably use them on the eyes as a nice shimmery shade with the bronze shade in the crease, because the blushes in these trios are awesome.

Anyway, I’ve been very impressed with almost everything Wet n Wild has released the past few months and I can’t wait to see what else they have in store!

If you have these, let me know what you think of them!
Will you be picking up anything else from the Silver Lake collection or any of their newer products?

Too Faced Natural Matte Palette

too faced natural matte

Hey lovelies,

Today, I have another palette review! This is going to be about the relatively new Too Faced Natural Eyes Matte palette. Not to be mistaken with their original Natural Eyes palette (one of my personal favorites).

This palette is $36 on http://www.toofaced.com or on sephora.com, but I actually snagged this for 20% using a code from Ipsy. There are two new palettes right now on Too Faced, a matte one and a colorful one. You all know how much I love matte shadows…and neutrals, so yeah, I needed this one.

First off, there are 9 shades in this palette. There are a couple of repeat shades from the original, but I don’t mind. The repeat shades are Heaven, Garter Belt, Sexpresso, and Nudie. I love those shades in the original, so I honestly don’t mind having duplicates of them. However, if that bugs you keep it in mind if you’re debating on getting this.

This is the side by side comparison. Even though there are duplicate shades, these palettes are very different outside of the fact that the original has shimmer shades.

The shades that drew me in and basically seduced me were “chocolate cookie” and “honey butter.” Those shades just looked so damn pretty to me.

I do feel there is a good balance of warm and cooler shades in this palette.

The shadows did kick up a bit when I first tried them (mostly chocolate cookie) but it wasn’t too bad. The colors are still very blendable and buttery.

In terms of pigmentation, these are pretty pigmented, but maybe not as pigmented as my Kat Von D Shade + Light eye palette. I have a feeling I may be comparing every palette I buy this year to that one.

If I had to choose between the two for life threatening reasons, I would go with the Kat Von D one. Unless you’re a collector or just really freakin’ love palettes, you probably won’t need bother. Too Faced is my second favorite brand of all time though, so I wanted it for obvious personal reasons.

Hey, this is a non judging zone.

I did these swatches over no primer.

Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase and I don’t feel it’s a redundant thing for me to have, even though I already own the original. I feel the colors blend easily and look beautiful over primed eyelids. Chocolate cookie and Honey Butter are everything, in my opinion. I really love those two colors. This packaging is also very travel friendly.

Attached is a first impression with me using the shadows and a matte brown smokey eye tutorial 🙂

I hope you all liked this post, and thanks for reading.
