Nyx Lip Lingerie Review + Swatches

nix lip lingerie

Hey beauties,

I recently posted a new video on my Youtube channel! I’ve been meaning to do a review with swatches of the Lingerie lipsticks I own, and now it’s finally up! Also, I changed my lighting and I’ve been uploading in HD, which means my videos now show my true skin tone. In case you’re wondering why the sudden weird overall change.

I go over everything in the video, but overall I’m pretty happy with these. Some shades are kinda “meh” in texture, but some shades are fantastic! I like these way more than the liquid suedes. I don’t think these are a “drop everything and buy these RIGHT NOW” type of liquid lipstick, but they’re nice to play around with.

nix bedtime flirt

This shade surprised me. It’s called Bedtime Flirt, and I feel this may be the peachy nude I reach for this Spring! Very subtly sexy.

IMG_4909

I swatched this shade a few weeks back on my Instagram. It’s called “Honeymoon” and in my opinion, it’s the best shade in this line. I own a lot of greige shades, but this one is actually different than my other ones.

If you’re interestted in watching the video, here it is:

I hope you all enjoy the review! As always, thanks for stopping by! I hope you’re all having wonderful days.

Nyx Cream Contour Palette Review

Hey lovelies,

I’ve been wanting to do more individual product reviews on my Youtube channel. I’ve done a few, but this is a review on a relatively new product. Nyx recently came out with cream contour kits that are a bit reminiscent of the oh so loved Anastasia ones. There are 3 different shade ranges to choose from, and naturally, I have the light one. I had high hopes for this product since I love Nyx as a brand. This product, however, missed the mark for me. Big time.

I do give other drugstore options that might work out 100% better than this one did. I hope you all find this helpful…or at least entertaining.  Subscribe to my Youtube channel if you want to!

Nyx Lipstick Collection Pt. 2

nyx lipsticks

Okay, so it’s time for part two of this giant installment in my “shop my stash” series. More people voted to see my Nyx lipstick collection, and well, I didn’t expect it to be such a huge collection.

If you’re interested in Part one just click here.

Now, today I will be swatching my current collection of simply nude, red, and vamp jumbo pencils, liquid suedes, and my latest additions to my matte lipstick collection. I did a prior post about my Nyx Matte lipsticks that you can ready here if you fancy.

I’ve used the simply vamp lip creams often on my blog, but they’re ones that I always forget to reach for. I own all of the simply vamp lip creams, a couple of the simply ones, and a couple of the simply red ones. The Simply Vamp line is a must have for me. I truly love these, and the shades are amazing! I feel that the shades from the simply nude and red lines can be found in other lines from Nyx though.

I’m not too fond of the packaging, honestly. I feel these could be nicer, but when it comes to Nyx lipsticks, my main concern is the product, and the product is nice.

IMG_4283

From top to bottom: She Devil, Temptress, Bewitched, Enamored, Aphrodisiac, Covet, Maraschino Cherry, Leading Lady, Sable, Exposed

My personal favorites are Enamored, Covet, and Bewitched. These are must have shades for me. Enamored and Covet have shimmer to them, so if you’re a vampy soul that loves touches of glamour, these will be perfect for you.

Next up is my current liquid suede collection. I did a youtube review of these that can be watched here.

I added Sway to my collection since that video. However, I forgot to swatch Stone Fox for this post. I knew I was forgetting one. That video includes a lip swatch of Stone Fox though. For the most part, I enjoy these. They don’t dry down completely matte, so they’re not transfer proof, but they are comfortable and the shades are gorgeous. The only one I find to be patchy when applied to the lips is Sway. It’s a very pretty neon lavender, but it doesn’t work well on my lips.

nyx liquid suede

From top to bottom: Kitten Heels, Cherry Skies, Vintage, Soft Spoken, Sway, Amethyst

My personal favorites from this line are Vintage, Soft Spoken, and Amethyst. I have a thing for blurples, and Amethyst is a gorgeous blurple color that makes me teeth look white. Vintage is a shade that everyone needs. It flatters everyone!

Last, I have my couple of soft matte lip creams and new Matte lipsticks. I only have two of the matte lip creams because I’m not a huge fan of them. I find them patchy and I rarely wear them. They also dry up quickly, so if you’re someone that collects lipsticks, you may want to pass on these for that reason alone.

However, Copenhagen and Cannes are two that I have kept, and are very pretty shades. As for my matte ones, I recently added four more, two of them being from the 2016 line! That’s right, Nyx is releasing a plethora of new shades to their matte lipstick and soft matte lip cream line.

nyx matte lipsticks

Top to bottom: Ultra Dare (NEW!), Up the Bass (NEW!), Aria, Siren, Copenhagen, Cannes

Up the Bass and Ultra Dare are my favorites, as well as Siren. However, I’m a huge fan of all of the matte lipsticks by Nyx. I will probably end up adding most of the new shades to my collection since I already know I love the formula. Not too sure about the soft lip creams. If anyone tries the new ones…let me know if there’s been a formula change!

Anyway, that’s it for today’s shop my stash post! I didn’t include my glosses and lip liners since they’re technically not lipsticks, but I can add another post with those if anyone would be interested.

I hope you all enjoyed this, and as always, thanks for reading!

Oh, and Happy New Year! I hope 2016 is swell to each and every one of you, and please be safe tonight. If you have too much fun and you’re without a ride, you can download Uber and get a discount on your first ride I believe.

Until next time, beauties.

Shop My Stash: Nyx Lipsticks Pt. 1

Nyx Lipsticks

Oh hey, ready for another Shop My Stash post? I am, I love doing these! I’ve honestly rediscovered a few products doing these posts, so they’ve helped me and several of you all have told me that you’ve enjoyed these posts as well! So, I’m taking on the mother load of all shop my stashes, and posting all of my current Nyx lipsticks.

Well, not all of them at once. Nyx Cosmetics is the one brand that I own the most lipsticks from. They’re the first ones I ever started “collecting” because I would always find them BOGO 50% at Ulta and use coupons on top of that. So, it’ll take me a few posts to get through all of them. I don’t want to overwhelm myself and you all. Today, I’ll be swatching my round case lipsticks, high voltage lipsticks, and my small macaron and wicked lippie collections.

Let’s begin with my round case lipsticks. These are probably the most affordable lipsticks Nyx makes, and the very first ones I ever owned. If you’re new to my blog, I’ve talked about how Chaos was the red that changed my life. I bought it and tried it during a time in my life where I was trying to figure out who I really was (long story short, I allowed others to tell me who to be) and it honestly changed my life. That was the moment I realized I was meant to be bold, and that a shade like that was what I was missing  in my life. I was obsessed, and I’m on my third tube of it. If you want to read my prior post just click here.

nyx lipsticks

Swatches from the wrist down: Bruised, Pluto, Penelope, Black Cherry, Hero, Snow White, Chaos, Cocoa, Lala, Thalia, Hades, Power

The round case lipsticks are about $3.99 each, so when these go on sale at Ulta it’s possible to get 3 or 4 for under $10 if you use a coupon! These are not matte, and are pretty glossy for the most part. My biggest tips for these is to use a liner to prevent feathering, and use a lip brush to perfect application. I know that sounds almost like a hassle, but I honestly love the shades from this range. My absolute favorites are Chaos, Lala, and Pluto. Pluto was one that I kind of forgot about, and it’s such a trendy shade right now! Lala looks like a glossier version of Jeffree Star’s Androgyny lipstick, eh? I kinda think so.

Next up, we have the newer high voltage lipsticks. These released this past year, and come in thinner tubes than the round case ones. In my opinion, these are 100% easier to apply. However, there’s less product in these and they’re a couple bucks more expensive than the round case lippies. They are very pigmented though, and I recently used one in a drugstore tutorial. I have a prior review, just click here if you want to read it.

nyx high voltgage lipsticks

From the top down: Feline, Burlesque, Hollywood, Flutter Kiss, Stone

Flutter Kiss is the perfect “my lips but better” shade. Stone is also a very gorgeous greige if you’ve been wanting to try one, but don’t want to spend $20 to do so. Personally, my must haves out of these are Stone and Feline. Feline is the perfect vampy deep purple red. However, all of these are nice and I find the smaller packaging nifty since I can kinda squish them all together to save room.

Lastly, I have swatches of my Macaron and Wicked lippies by Nyx. These are all super fun shades. If you want to try fun shades, but don’t know about spending a lot of money on them, definetely look into Nyx! Neither of these lines are matte like many colorful liquid lipsticks, but you can try a shade out and see how you like it on yourself. The macaron shades are some of the first colorful lipsticks I ever bought. And the rest is history. Let’s be real, I now wear green and grey more than almost every other shade.

nyx wicked lipstick

From top to bottom: Betrayal (Wicked), Sinful (Wicked), Pistachio, Violet, Earl Grey

I love these, and if you want to see what they would look like matte, just dust some translucent powder over the top of them! My personal must haves are…all of them. If I didn’t have a plethora of colorful liquid lipsticks, I would own all of these from both lines.

Well, that was all 22 swatches that I have for today. I will try to have part 2 up next week at about the same time! I still have my simply vamp and nude pencils, butter lipsticks, glosses, and liquid suedes to swatch. I also own quite a few lip pencils, so I can add those in if anyone would be interested.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s post! As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days!

Face of the Day: Cool Toned Fall Look

colourpop kapow

Hey lovelies,

I know I have been a bit MIA lately, but I promise nothing is wrong. I’ve just been kind of taking small breaks here and there. I’ve been thinking of changing my blog up a bit and doing more lifestyle than beauty posts (I miss doing lifestyle posts) and doing most of my reviews on Youtube. Feel free to leave input, because even though my blog is my creative space, I do value the opinions of you all since I consider you all my friends.

Today’s look is a cool toned Fall look, and was supposed to be a tutorial for my Youtube channel. While I was editing iMovie crashed on me, and somehow while it was crashing it corrupted the files on my memory card. To say the least, I am frustrated and upset about it. I don’t feel I will be able to film this again with Holiday things coming up, so I’m going to try and explain this look to the best of my abilities since it was requested.

If this look is familiar to you, I’ve done it before for an Instagram look. It was actually way more popular than I thought it was going to be.

colourpop kapow

Base: Primer is the Laura Mercier hydrating primer and the elf under eye primer.

Foundation: Tarte Iluminating serum mixed with the Loreal Infallible demi matte foundation. This foundation is super full coverage, and I like to mix it with the serum to take it down a notch so it looks better and less cakey on my dry skin. I always use my real techniques sponge for this as well, as it gives it more of an airbrushed look and takes off any excess product.

Concealer: Nyx HD concealers in Lavender and Porcelain. I do this to brighten my undereyes, but I do not do the big huge triangle thing many do. I just focus it where my dark circles are and use the real techniques sponge again to pick up any excess product.

Powders: I set my face with my usual powder, the Laura Geller balance and brightening powder in porcelain. My under eyes are set with the physians formula correcting powder in translucent.

Contour: I used the Wet n Wild contour duo in Dulce De Leche to lay down my contour and warm up my face just a tiny bit, and then used the Nyx HD blush in taupe to further define my cheekbones using the Sonia Kashuk fan brush. I also used this to contour my nose. I always blend my contour out using the City Color Cosmetics duo ended brush now, it’s wonderful.

Blush: Milani’s “Romantic Rose” blush which is a stunning cool toned mauve shade for fall, and is permanent to their rose blush collection. I used a Sedona Lace 813 brush for this.

Highlight: The new Ofra Cosmetics and Dupe That collab highlight in “You Glow Girl.” Seriously, you need this highlight. It’s a very cool toned shimmery pink shade that looks almost blue in some lights. It’s so gorgeous, and I feel like a Winter Goddess in it. I applied my highlight with my real techniques setting brush, which is awesome for highlighting.

IMG_3273 colourpop central perk

Brows: My usual combination of the Nyx tame and frame in espresso set with their brow mascara in “black.”

Eye primer: The Hard Candy eye primer. I love this, and it’s only $5 at the drugstore.

Palette of choice: Morphe 35O.

I know what you’re thinking, everyone loves this palette for the warm tones. On the left hand side of the palette, there are some incredible cool toned shades that I feel are not hyped up enough.

I used:

morphe 35O tutorial

Those shades with the coffee mugs? Those are the ones I used 🙂

I placed that cool transition shade in the crease towards my brows using the elf cosmetics concealer brush, which is an awesome crease brush for transition shades.

I then placed the lighter taupe shade in the third row a little beneath it, and the darker taupe shade in the crease as well using my Luxie fluffy brush. I love putting 3 shades in the crease, I think it gives a really awesome effect.

I placed the light kinda shimmery white shade up top on my lid, and then placed the darkest taupe shade on the outside.

Now, for the burgundy color I had to use Colourpop’s Central Perk shadow. I like to use the Urban Decay brush from the Naked 3 palette for this, because it’s flat and very dense and stiff. I then blended the shape out using my Crown fluffy blending brush, which is my absolute favorite blending brush in my collection.

colourpop kapow

In my water line and lower lash line I placed Nyx Cosmetic’s “Rust” jumbo eye pencil, which is a really pretty reddish color and blended Central perk with it.

Liner is the NYC liduid liner and lashes are the Eylure and Vegas Nay Grand Glamor lashes, which is fluffy and glorious.

Inner corner highlight is my favorite one, Urban Decay’s “Polyster Bride” and mascara is the Maybelline Lash Sensational.

Lipstick is Nyx’s 1000 years lip liner topped with Colourpop’s ultra matte lippie in Kapow. This is limited edition, but it’s so beautiful and it’s an almost spot on dupe for Coloured Raine’s Soul lipstick.

I set everything using the Urban Decay all night setting spray.

That’s it for the details behind this look! I hope I was able to give enough details, but if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! I love chatting with you all.

I really hope you all enjoyed this look, and I am so sorry once again that I was not able to get the video up on my Youtube channel. Hopefully, the iMovie thing was a fluke thing and won’t happen again.

I hope you’re all having wonderful days, and please find me on social media if you want to!

Quick Review: Nyx Lip Color Remover

nyx lip color remover

Hey lovelies,

Today I have a quick review for you all! I feel like I haven’t done one of these in awhile, as I’ve been doing more lipstick/palette reviews than anything else lately. A few weeks ago, Ulta had a buy 2 get 1 free sale on Nyx cosmetics, so I got a few things that I needed, and snagged this for free. It’s a newer product that Nyx came out in lieu of the liquid lipstick trend.

I was waiting for an affordable brand to come out with something like this, it’s genius. I own quite a few liquid lipsticks, and there are a few that are a pain in the butt to remove without also removing half your makeup. I’m someone that enjoys wearing several lip colors a day at times, so not having that option without reapplying all of my makeup is disheartening.

So, now this product is in my possession and I have tried it out enough to let you all know what I think about it!

Price: $4.99

Amount of Product: 0.43 fl oz

What it claims: “This remover thoroughly conditions and pampers the lips while effectively wiping away long-lasting color.”

Consistency: This is a pretty thick formula. I actually wasn’t expecting this to be so thick, but it did take a bit for me to squeeze the product out. It’s thick and has a very slight pink shade to it.

How it works: You don’t need much of this at all, and what I do is just dab it on the top of my lips and then use my lips to work the product around. This doesn’t taste bad or have an intense scent, so that’s a good thing. It does have a bit of an oil to it though, and you’ll see the lipstick you’re wearing start to slip off gently.

I then take a wipe of any sort and gently wipe the color off my lips.

My general thoughts: This is a pretty nifty product, and one that is worth the $5 if you wear liquid lipstick often. It did remove some of my heavy duty shades like “Dr. M” by Colourpop and my LaSplash ones and kept my lips feeling smooth instead of chapped. If you recall my Colourpop review, I was having a hard time removing Dr. M (bright green) without looking like the Hulk had a makeout session with a green alien.

I will say that because there is an oil in this, it can slip around and darker shades can then feather out and get around your mouth. I fix this by putting concealer around my mouth if I’m reapplying lipstick directly after.

The littlest bit of product goes a long way, so this tube will last you a bit. I did notice that with red and berry shaded colors this product will not fully remove any staining on your lips. However, I do feel this product is meant more for the Nyx Liquid Suede lipsticks, which makes sense.

In that case, this product works phenomenally, but the Liquid Suede lippies are not too difficult to remove to begin with. I have never had a problem with any of them, even the red ones, staining my lips at all. So, if you get them for those, this product is perfect.

I still don’t know if this product makes it possible to switch colors easily since it doesn’t remove staining, but it does make it easier to remove liquid lipstick without smearing it all over my face, thus giving me the appearance of a glamour-clown.

What are your thoughts on this product?

I hope you all enjoyed this fairly winded, yet short review! As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you stop by my blog again soon!

Shop My Stash: Nyx Matte Lipsticks

nyx matte lipstick

Hey beauties,

I have another Shop my Stash post today! I’m still going through my things and finding old favorites to share with you all. Today, I’m sharing my little collection of Nyx Matte lipsticks.

These retail between $5-6 at most places, but I typically snag these on sale at Ulta. I believe there are 33 shades total in this line, which is awesome! There’s a good range of nudes, pinks, and some purples, but what’s really worth noting is their range of red shades. Are we surprised that I find their reds to be the best in this line?

Seriously, there are quite a few shades and I have 6 to share in this post.

nyx matte lipsticks

First, the packaging of these are really cute considering the price. I actually like that the color swatch is in the middle, so I can see them when they’re standing upright in my acrylic organizer and I don’t have to look on the bottom. What’s even better is that the middle is clear, so what you’re seeing in the middle is the actual color of the lipstick. It takes all of the guess work out of these from buying to applying.

Formula wise, these are very pigmented, yet very comfortable feeling. If I had to compare them to any other drugstore matte lipstick, it would be the Milani Moisture Matte formula. These apply so easily, and I can typically get the desired color I want with one pass on the lips.

I have mentioned a few of these shades before in previous posts, and I do highly recommend them. I have never found these to dry my lips out or look too crumbly throughout the day unless it was after a meal.

I would say the lasting power is pretty awesome as well. They last longer than say the Colourpop mattes, and probably last a little longer than even the Milani ones, because the Milani ones tend to slip a bit because they’re so hydrating.

milani matte

From the wrist down:

Merlot: A deep wine shade with a bit of a purple tone to it. I think this shade is absolutely stunning in the Fall and Winter. It’s not too pink for my taste, and not super berry toned either. It’s a perfect in between for people with a love for vampy shades like myself.

Perfect Red: I have mentioned this shade on my blog before, and I will say this again…this is absolutely the perfect red. It lives up to its name. It’s very neutral toned, so it’s flattering on everyone. This is your ideal 1950’s bombshell red if you’re in the market for an affordable one.

Alabama: I did a lip swatch of this during my Fall lipstick challenge in September, and I fell in love with this. It’s a deep brown toned red, and it’s so beautiful. This is a shade of red that I wear so often in the cooler months.

Eden: This is more of a bright, blue toned red. Blue tones are going to make your teeth look whiter, and this shade is a beautiful red as well.

Whipped Caviar: It took me so long to get this shade. It was sold out for the longest time because it was a “Kylie Jenner” shade. I’m not into it for that, but on me it’s a “my lips but better” shade. This is a muted mauve shade that is the perfect nude for fair skin tones, in my opinion.

Tea Rose: This is my latest addition, and I am so in love with this shade! I love mauve shades in general, and this one almost looks like a muted plum shade on me. I think this is the perfect shade for anyone that wants to darken up their Fall makeup wardrobe but doesn’t enjoy very dark shades or reds.

Well, that’s everything in my little Nyx Matte lipstick collection! I really hope you all enjoyed this post. I love this matte line, and I find they are very underrated.

What’s your favorite shade? Do you own any of these? Talk lipstick with me in the comments!

As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having wonderful weekends!

Affordable Burgundy Glosses for Fall

IMG_1776

Hey lovelies,

Anyone else starting to see the leaves hitting the ground after a blistering hot Summer? They’re starting to fall at my house, and my heart has never been so happy to watch leaves die and fall off trees. One of my favorite shades of Fall is burgundy. I just love how rich and warm the color is while simultaneously remaining dark and somewhat mysterious.

So, today I thought I would share some of my favorite glossier shades of burgundy. Not everyone likes a matte lip, and I will sometimes wear glossier formulas as well, so I thought it would be a good time to take a break from the matte lipstick fever. If you’re interested, just keep reading!

Nyx Butter Gloss “Devil’s Food Cake-“ I really love the butter gloss formula, and I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before. These smell incredible and feel so light and non sticky on the lips. You do have to reapply them fairly often, but it’s not a hassle when the formula is so comfortable to begin with. This shade is more sheer, but looks lovely topped over lipsticks.

Milani’s Gloss in “Black Cherry-“ This shade is very dark, and could probably be worn alone or over a darker lip liner just so it doesn’t move around very much. I also like this formula, though not as much as the butter glosses. Milani always has stellar lip products, and these are a very affordable alternative to the more expensive glosses on the market.

City Color Cosmetics Creamy Lip Stain “Chocolate Merlot-” This is technically not a gloss, but hear me out. This color and formula is so rich. I picked this up at Five Below last year on a whim, and I did not expect to love the color and formula as much as I do. These are more of a stain, but are super comfortable and feel like a suede texture on the lips. These are also $4.99 on their site or $3 at your local Five Below. If you decide to order some of these, I do have a coupon code that will save you 10%! Just enter Lunafayebeauty 🙂 but no pressure, there are coupon codes everywhere.

JCat Liptitude in “Fantasy Dreamer-” This color is one of my favorites in this entire line. I did a review with lip swatches of these, and this color is so dark and so vampy. It’s probably more of a blackened purple than burgundy, but oh well…it’s still worthy. These are semi-matte and pair fantasically with other lipsticks and liners. That and the applicator on these are thin and longer, which makes applying them way easier. I have a video review here that you can watch if you want.

That’s it for the few darker glosses I wanted to share today! I honestly don’t own too many glosses or glossy products, so I just wanted to share the few that I do have! What are some of your favorite glosses or lipsticks for fall?

Face of the Day: My “go to” Date Night Look

IMG_8097

Hey lovelies,

How is everyone? I’m sitting down and typing this out on a Tuesday, and it’s been a weird day. A mostly happy day with some weird things. I started my day off by getting pooped on and I broke my favorite jewelry holder on my foot and I bled everywhere. However, once my kids laid down for a nap I was able to sit down and plan out my look for this week. I also had a great selfie day. There’s just something about looking through pictures and thinking, “Damn, I look nice,” that can perk a lady right up. And yes, you’re allowed to think you look damn good sometimes…or everyday. Because you all look nice everyday.

Anyway, today’s look is going to be my “go to” date night look lately. I tried to put my Kat Von D palette down for once and use all single shadows and some new products that I want to talk about a bit more. My go-to style of makeup in general is usually a pretty crease, a light lid, cat eye and fun lipstick. I know this differs for everyone, but I’m a bit “all or nothing” when it comes to my makeup. So, on date nights I like to go all out and feel happy and confident. For me, that includes red lipstick and cat eyes.

IMG_8095

I also put on an outfit that I would probably wear on a night out (a dress) and curled my hair. Without further adieu, let’s get into the details.

IMG_8096

My base today is actually a wee bit different than normal. I haven’t used my Hard Candy primer in awhile, so I pulled it out for this look. I actually like this primer, and do find it helps my makeup to truly stick, even in the Summer. My foundation is Nyx’s Invincible foundation in “Fair” mixed with a bit of my City Color tinted moisturizer in “fair” to thin it out a bit. That’s my number one tip for full coverage foundations on dry skin…a tinted moisturizer or a bit of beauty oil will thin out a matte foundation a bit making it lay better on the skin. I find this doesn’t take away too much coverage, but my skin has also been relatively clear lately.

My concealer is my usual…La Girl’s pro concealer in “porcelain.” However, today I set my under eyes with the City Color HD setting powder that I got in my July Ipsy bag. My first impression is that I enjoy this powder. Loose powder annoys me a bit in the sense that it’s pretty messy, but I did find this powder to be finely milled and very silky feeling.

IMG_8093

For my contour I used the dark shade in the Elf contour kit. Blush is “Birthday Suit” by Colourpop, and highlight is “Smokin Whistles” also by Colourpop.

My brows are my usual as of late, which is the Milani brow pomade in “Dark Brown” and set with Nyx’s brow mascara in “Black”

IMG_8099 IMG_8091

Okay, so for my eyes I primed with my Too Faced Shadow insurance. My transition shade is actually from a sample I received from Shiro Cosmetics called “Mourning.” It’s a lovely medium toned orangey-beige shade that is perfect for warmer toned looks because it’s not too orange. Don’t worry, I’ve ordered the full size. Then as a second transition shade I took “Dirty” by My Pretty Zombie Cosmetics (not pretty zombie cosmetics, it confused me at first too). Because I like to look like a big eyed doll at times, I did a rounded shape and took this pretty far in close to the bridge of my nose.

On my lid is actually a Colourpop shadow called “Acorn.” This came from their Spring collection, and I love it. It’s a pearlized cream color, so it gives dimension to this look without being shimmery. I applied this with my finger, which is how you get the most pigmentation with Colourpop shadows. However, concealer brushes work as well! The outer color is “A regular Bears Meeting” by Shiro Cosmetics.

Normally, I would use black liner for my wing. However, I’m still on the colored liner kick and I created a liner using Shiro Cosmetics’ “A War of Five Armies” shadow (see my method here) and I feel this really made the green in my eyes stand out. It’s a lovely dark burgundy shade. Lashes are the same ones that I talked about in my last video that you can watch here if interested. They’re just ebay lashes, but I love how wispy and romantic they look.

In my water liner I have Nyx’s jumbo eye pencil in “Milk.” Then I have “Mourning” blended out and “Dirty” closer to the lash line and slightly blended out. Mascara is Maybelline’s The Falsies. My inner corner highlight is super dramatic. You don’t have to be as dramatic as me. I used “Swan” from Colourpop. I love this as an inner corner highlight.

vampira

For my lips, it’s just Kat Von D’s “Vampira.” I haven’t worn this liquid lipstick in a bit, and I forgot how much I truly adore this shade and formula. It applies evenly and lasts all day. It feels comfortable and applies like a dream. I definitely want to get my hands on quite a few of the new shades when my local Sephora has all of them. I set my entire face with Urban Decays All Nighter spray.

Funny story about my hair: if you follow me on twitter, you would have seen me mention that I did a wet set using foam rollers and said I looked like “a punk poodle.” I did. It was bad. I put my hair in a bun and the next day (today) my hair looked better, and I went over the weird parts with a curling iron. This was the result. From punk poodle to glorious curls.

My necklace is from Bella Morta Jewelry, and my dress was actually a clearance find from Marshall’s.

I hope you all enjoyed this look! Tell me about your go to looks, for dates or whenever else. What makes you feel sexy and sassy?

Have a good day, lovelies.

My Favorite MLBB Shades

IMG_7819

Hey loves,

Today I am going to be talking about lipstick again! If you’re wondering what “MLBB” stands for, it stands for “My Lips but Better” and not something odd like “My luscious big booty.” This is supposed to be a tag post of some sort, but no one tagged me and I just felt like doing this. I did a post last week about my favorite affordable red lipsticks, so today I want to touch on my favorite nude lipsticks.

For reference: I am very fair and my skin is cool toned. Cool toned mauve colored shades suite my skin tone the best. My lips are also naturally very pigmented, and pull a bit more mauve to begin with. For me, pink nudes with a bit of a brown tone to them are the way to go in terms of nude lipsticks on fair skin. I find it to be very flattering and a striking contrast. I tend to avoid very light pink and super pale nude shades, because many times it just looks like I put concealer on my lips. I mean, there is a time and place for concealer lips, but not when I want something pretty that will go with about any eye look I’m wearing that day.

To answer your question, yes, I have bought so many mauve lipsticks since every makeup company keeps coming out with various mauve and dark nude lipstick shades. Can’t stop, won’t stop. I love this mauve and brown lipstick trend. This is also the picture that I’m going to forever send to creepy people that ask me for nudes. “Oh, okay, here are all my favorite nudes in one photo!” On to the lipsticks of the hour:

Stila “Patina” I lusted over this shade from the moment I saw it on Thataylaa until I finally ordered it during a Stila sale a few months back. This is a liquid to matte lipstick, and it is glorious. It smells like cupcakes and it lasts on my lips for a very long time. I do find that the smell of these lasts for a bit longer than most, so if that kind of thing bothers you, you might not like this formula. I find that the applicator on the Stila liquid lipsticks are very nice and give a precise application. I highly recommend this shade if you love mauve liquid lipsticks.

Nyx Matte “Whipped Caviar” I have mentioned the Nyx Matte formula before, and I will probably continue to do so because I love them so much. Very affordable at $5-6, and whipped caviar is the perfect nude shade for anyone looking for a beautiful mauve shade that’s budget friendly.

Nyx “Thalia” This is an old and constant favorite of mine. The shade is much like “Whipped Caviar” but it’s a glossier formula. I love the round case lipsticks, and I believe I own way too many of them. Thalia is one of those lipsticks that you can throw on with a dewy base and bit of mascara and it somehow glams up the entire look while looking natural. It’s a power shade, in my opinion.

LaSplash “Charmed” This is a more recent addition to my collection, and I have raved about the LaSplash liquid lipsticks very often on my blog. Charmed is from the mousse collection, so this formula is different from the lip couture line. These dry very quickly, and they have an intense staying power. Charmed is a lighter pink-ish nude shade that is very flattering on my skin tone. It’s light and flirty, but it doesn’t wash me out. I do find that this pulls a bit more grey on my lips somedays than pink or mauve, which is nice. It’s a very different shade.

Nyx Butter Lipstick “Pops” The Nyx butter lipsticks pop up often in my lipstick posts. Pops is more of a brown toned mauve, but it is so flattering on multiple skin tones. I highly recommend this color, and the Nyx butter lipsticks in general. They are incredible, and I wear them often, especially in the Summer. I can apply this shade without even looking in a mirror if I need to.

Kat Von D Studded Lipstick “Lovecraft” This is probably one of the most worn lipsticks in my collection. I actually put it down for awhile because I was afraid of running out, and these are on the pricier side at $21 a piece. So worth it. The studded lipsticks are very matte. You will probably need to apply a bit of balm a little while before applying one to make the application smoother. Lovecraft is an absolutely stunning shade. I always get compliments on it when I wear it out. Maybe it’s the confidence it gives me, or maybe it’s how flattering this shade is on my skin…who knows. I just know that if you are looking to buy a few shades from this line, pick this one up. You won’t regret it.

That’s it for today’s post! I hope you all enjoyed this quick little blurb about some of my favorite MLBB shades of lipstick. What are some of your favorite shades of nude? Let me know in the comments section!

Also, if you have any requests for my next “my favorites” lipstick/blush/whatever else post…please let me know! I thoroughly enjoy these types of posts.

I hope you’re all having wonderful days, and thanks for stopping by!

*typical disclaimer- I bought all these products myself, and all opinions are my own!
