My Favorite MLBB Shades

IMG_7819

Hey loves,

Today I am going to be talking about lipstick again! If you’re wondering what “MLBB” stands for, it stands for “My Lips but Better” and not something odd like “My luscious big booty.” This is supposed to be a tag post of some sort, but no one tagged me and I just felt like doing this. I did a post last week about my favorite affordable red lipsticks, so today I want to touch on my favorite nude lipsticks.

For reference: I am very fair and my skin is cool toned. Cool toned mauve colored shades suite my skin tone the best. My lips are also naturally very pigmented, and pull a bit more mauve to begin with. For me, pink nudes with a bit of a brown tone to them are the way to go in terms of nude lipsticks on fair skin. I find it to be very flattering and a striking contrast. I tend to avoid very light pink and super pale nude shades, because many times it just looks like I put concealer on my lips. I mean, there is a time and place for concealer lips, but not when I want something pretty that will go with about any eye look I’m wearing that day.

To answer your question, yes, I have bought so many mauve lipsticks since every makeup company keeps coming out with various mauve and dark nude lipstick shades. Can’t stop, won’t stop. I love this mauve and brown lipstick trend. This is also the picture that I’m going to forever send to creepy people that ask me for nudes. “Oh, okay, here are all my favorite nudes in one photo!” On to the lipsticks of the hour:

Stila “Patina” I lusted over this shade from the moment I saw it on Thataylaa until I finally ordered it during a Stila sale a few months back. This is a liquid to matte lipstick, and it is glorious. It smells like cupcakes and it lasts on my lips for a very long time. I do find that the smell of these lasts for a bit longer than most, so if that kind of thing bothers you, you might not like this formula. I find that the applicator on the Stila liquid lipsticks are very nice and give a precise application. I highly recommend this shade if you love mauve liquid lipsticks.

Nyx Matte “Whipped Caviar” I have mentioned the Nyx Matte formula before, and I will probably continue to do so because I love them so much. Very affordable at $5-6, and whipped caviar is the perfect nude shade for anyone looking for a beautiful mauve shade that’s budget friendly.

Nyx “Thalia” This is an old and constant favorite of mine. The shade is much like “Whipped Caviar” but it’s a glossier formula. I love the round case lipsticks, and I believe I own way too many of them. Thalia is one of those lipsticks that you can throw on with a dewy base and bit of mascara and it somehow glams up the entire look while looking natural. It’s a power shade, in my opinion.

LaSplash “Charmed” This is a more recent addition to my collection, and I have raved about the LaSplash liquid lipsticks very often on my blog. Charmed is from the mousse collection, so this formula is different from the lip couture line. These dry very quickly, and they have an intense staying power. Charmed is a lighter pink-ish nude shade that is very flattering on my skin tone. It’s light and flirty, but it doesn’t wash me out. I do find that this pulls a bit more grey on my lips somedays than pink or mauve, which is nice. It’s a very different shade.

Nyx Butter Lipstick “Pops” The Nyx butter lipsticks pop up often in my lipstick posts. Pops is more of a brown toned mauve, but it is so flattering on multiple skin tones. I highly recommend this color, and the Nyx butter lipsticks in general. They are incredible, and I wear them often, especially in the Summer. I can apply this shade without even looking in a mirror if I need to.

Kat Von D Studded Lipstick “Lovecraft” This is probably one of the most worn lipsticks in my collection. I actually put it down for awhile because I was afraid of running out, and these are on the pricier side at $21 a piece. So worth it. The studded lipsticks are very matte. You will probably need to apply a bit of balm a little while before applying one to make the application smoother. Lovecraft is an absolutely stunning shade. I always get compliments on it when I wear it out. Maybe it’s the confidence it gives me, or maybe it’s how flattering this shade is on my skin…who knows. I just know that if you are looking to buy a few shades from this line, pick this one up. You won’t regret it.

That’s it for today’s post! I hope you all enjoyed this quick little blurb about some of my favorite MLBB shades of lipstick. What are some of your favorite shades of nude? Let me know in the comments section!

Also, if you have any requests for my next “my favorites” lipstick/blush/whatever else post…please let me know! I thoroughly enjoy these types of posts.

I hope you’re all having wonderful days, and thanks for stopping by!

*typical disclaimer- I bought all these products myself, and all opinions are my own!

Lips of the Day: Makeup Monsters

makeup monsters

Hey beauties,

Today I’m doing another Lip of the Day post! The last one I did (will link it at the end of this post) had a lot of positive feedback, so I’m going to try and make this a regular thing.

I know that Mondays can kinda-sorta-really-really suck, so I want to do a fun ombre look.

Personally, I love taking two colors and mixing them together to create new colors and/or doing ombre looks with them, because it’s like having multiple colors without having to buy extra products.

I have done a full review of Makeup Monsters on my Youtube Channel, and I do stand by what I said then. I think this brand is a great one to look into if you’re looking for new indie brands to try. Plus, they’re vegan friendly and pretty affordable in terms of liquid lipstick.

Anyway, the colors I have today are “Blackened Heart” and “Sedona,” and both are stunning colors alone. I actually mentioned “Sedona” in my May Favorites video.

Tip: To avoid getting the applicators muddy looking with different colors, use lip brushes for ombre looks and to mix shades together. I also clean up the outside lip line with my Nyx wonder pencil in “light.”

makeup monsters

I’m really happy with how these look together.

IMG_7266

All of the old and new colors from Makeup Monsters will actually be restocked this Friday! These sell out so quickly, so I highly suggest that if you want one or ten, to make sure you’re on the site when restock happens and order quickly. It’s almost like a limited edition MAC release makeup brawl on that site during restock. I’ve had lipsticks stolen out of my virtual cart. Shit gets real.

What are your thoughts on these? Will you be picking any up during restock this week?

Find the products at makeupmonsters.net

As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having splendid days!

ColourPop Highlighters

IMG_6679

Hey beauties,

I have another fun review today with swatches of some of my favorite things to collect right now…highlighters! Highlighters can accent parts of the face we want to bring out, and they can give us a luminous glow. I love playing around with highlighters, and lately I have been wanting to add some different kinds to my wee collection.

Okay, so if you follow me on Instagram or have watched my last tutorial, you probably already know that I’ve had these highlighters for a bit and I am sorry that I am just now getting around to reviewing and swatching them. I wanted to test them out a few times before I gave a full review! We all know how much I love Colourpop products, but how did these measure up to the things that already chill out in my collection? Keep reading to find out!

When I ordered off Colourpop (before my latest order, I’m always ordering off that site *sigh*) I hauled a few highlighters because I really wanted to try some of these out.

I will say that while ordering I had trouble even coming up with 3 that I wanted to try because the majority of them either looked the same to me, or would be more of a blush/bronzer on me than a highlight. However, I did end up finding 3 to try out that I felt would be suitable for my paler-than-the-moon skin.

I ended up getting “Hippo” “Smoke N Whistles” and “Spoon.”

Price: $8 each, same as the blushes

Consistency: Much like the blushes, buttery but a creamy-powdery type of texture.

colourpop highlighter

As you can tell, the packaging is the same standard packaging, but the highlighters lack the neat-o pattern on top that their other products have. I don’t mind, personally. I always feel bad for sticking my fingers into pretty patterns and ruining them quickly.

These highlighters are much like the blushes and feel creamy, but have a powder finish on the skin. They are much like the blushes, but in my opinion these feel softer and are easier to apply than the blushes. I will say that these highlighters have glitter in them…or at least the ones I ordered do. So, if you’re not about the shimmery highlight, these may not be for you. I’m all about that glitter life though, and I will say that these look less glittery on the cheeks than they do on the actual swatches.

As for application, these apply the same as the blushes as well. Best with your fingers (most pigmentation) but you can use a brush if you prefer. I prefer to use a brush, and lately the brush I have been using is the highlight end of my City Color Cosmetics dual ended contour brush. The Highlight side is pretty stiff and shaped like a paddle., so I feel it picks up the right amount of product. The Real Techniques expert face brush works well, also.

The one thing I will say is that if you have dry skin, you may want to apply these gently and build up. I kinda went a bit too glowy all at once the first time and messed my foundation up a bit in the process. When I applied it gently and buffed it out slowly I had no issue. I didn’t find that the product in general clung to dry spots or looked patchy on my skin though. It was probably just my mistake because makeup makes me so happy that I sometimes forget to breathe and think while applying, but I figured I would throw that tid bit out there just in case.

Staying power: these do last all day I feel. I will say that my skin is naturally dry so face products do stick to me (literally) for a bit longer, but after watching several other reviews on these I haven’t seen many people say that these didn’t last long on them.

IMG_6866

Swatches left to right: Smoke n Whistles, Spoon, Hippo

Smoke n Whistles: a champagne shade with a teeny bit of reflective pink in it.

Spoon: a champagne with silver sparkle

Hippo: cool toned lavender

I find that all of these suite my skin tone sooo well. Even though Smoke n Whistles and Spoon are champagne shades, the pink shimmer makes a huge difference between the two.

My favorite of these has to be Hippo. I can’t seem to put it down. If you have cool toned skin, you NEED this highlighter in your life. It’s so beautiful and has this lavender duo-chrome look to it. I find it hard to find “unique” highlighter shades that I can pull off with my skin tone, and Hippo is a very unique highlight that pairs so well with cool toned looks.

All 3 are absolutely gorgeous though, and I do recommend these to anyone that has been wanting to place an order.

There’s a great range of shades on their site, including some that would probably work best as blushes or blush toppers. There’s a few deeper shades that could be blushes on those with lighter skin tones, and they interest me quite a bit, honestly.

Overall, I’m really happy with this product and as usual, Colourpop knows how to release products. They always seem to release a pretty awesome range of shades so that everyone can find something.

Have you tried these highlighters out? What are your thoughts on them? After looking at more swatches and seeing more people rave about Monster, I think that’s one I’m going to pick up on my next order. Because, have you see the new quad Dani from CoffeeBreakwithDani has came up with?!? I’m gonna need it.

As always, thanks for reading, and have a great Saturday!

Hardcandy Ombre Baked Blush and Highlighter Duo

hard cany

Hey lovelies,

Today I wanted to share a few products that I have had for awhile and have been meaning to review and swatch. If you’re new here, there’s something you should know: I love Hard Candy makeup. I think they’re an underrated drugstore brand and I wish I saw more people talking about their products! There are some misses, but lately they have been coming out with some stellar and affordable products, and I want to share a few with you all today.

The two products I want to share are an ombre baked blush and a highlighter duo. The baked blush I believe is permanent, but the heart shaped highlighter is not, sadly.

If you’re unfamiliar with Hard Candy, they’re a Walmart exclusive brand that is also cruelty free. I have done a review of their new Natural Eyes palette that I will link at the end of this post.

IMG_6881

First up, this baked blush. Can we just admire it for a second? It’s so gorgeous. I love baked blushes in general because I find them to be pigmented and shimmery, so many times they act as a highlighter-blush in one. No need for extra steps in my routine on a busy morning? Score! What’s unique about this ombre blush though is that you can kind of “customize” the shade you want based on where you apply your brush. You can go to the white side for just a highlight. You could go on the other side for an intense pink, or somewhere in the middle for a very pretty pink glow. It’s up to you!

This product is very pigmented and swatches very well. It looks beautiful on the cheeks. I have the shade “punch” but I’m really tempted to go and pick up the other shade as well. I find that it doesn’t take much at all to get color to your cheeks, so be wary of that if you’re not into the intense Snow White kind of look (I am, not gonna lie).

IMG_6872

Swatches shown left to right: highlight side alone, everything swirled together, pink side alone

See, it’s totally like getting 3 colors in one product! I love this little baked blush.

Highlighter duo: First off, the cute little heart tin packaging spoke to me. So reminiscent of the Too Faced heart-shaped boxed blushes. It’s not as fancy as the Too Faced ones, but it’s still cute in terms of drugstore packaging. This was part of the collection Hard Candy released for their 20th anniversary.

IMG_6880

There are two sides, obviously. A lighter and darker side. I didn’t know how the darker side would look on my fair skin, but surprisingly this product leans more on the “natural glow” side than the “wam bam highlighter in yo face” side. There’s no visible glitter in it. The texture and finish reminds me much of Physician’s Formula highlighters, and those are my absolute favorite highlighters in the drugstore.

This duo felt very soft and buttery to the touch. You can tell when you touch it that it is finely milled. I’ve also seen people depot the heart very easily by just popping the little booger out and into a z-palette, if that’s something you would want to do.

Because this is a duo, you can use either side or mix both shades together. The swatches I have are of just each side.

IMG_6873

I had to go over each swatch a few times simply because this product really does give a natural glow and it’s pretty hard to overdo it.

It lasted fairly well on my face, but I will say that after about 8 hours it seemed to fade away. I don’t touch up many times throughout the day, so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re wanting to wear this all day…it might fade after awhile. Would this be work appropriate? Yes. Appropriate for a night out at the club? Maybe not.

I will say that overall I’m happy with this little tin of prettiness, and I think this will look pretty in the Fall when I want a more toned done “glow from within” type of look. It’s a very pretty champagne highlighter that is pretty good quality in terms of drugstore highlights. Do I like this more than my holy grail Physicians Formula?? No, but I do think this is a nice and cute thing to add to your collection if you’re a Hard Candy lover.

As always, thanks for reading this post if you made it this far, and if you’re new here I hope you stay awhile!

Sugarpill Sparkle Baby Palette

IMG_6695

Oh look, a wild palette appears!

I hope you all are having a lovely Saturday, and I hope you made a snack because I have a quick(er) and fun Swatch Saturday for today!

Okay, story time. On Mother’s Day my mom handed me a card and said, “There’s gift cards in there, one is for a lunch date and one is for makeup and only makeup…not diapers or things for the girls. Makeup. Buy a palette.” Yes ma’am, you don’t have to tell me twice. So, I bought this palette from Sugarpill because I’ve actually been wanting it for so long. The first time I truly wanted this palette was after Cora from VintageorTacky used it to create her Marie Antoinette look. Fun fact: I’m obsessed with Marie Antoinette and have a love for French history. They just really fascinate me. However, that’s not what this post is about today.

That’s my short backstory behind how this palette is now in my little paws.

Sugarpill is a cruelty free indie company that sells a lot of pastel and neon oriented things. If you’re in the mood to brighten up your face, go check this company out. That’s right, I bought something that isn’t neutral! I’m a bit burned out with neutral palettes at the moment *gasp* and I really wanted to add something colorful and flirty to my collection for Summer.

IMG_6705

This palette retails at $34, and the shipping was really quick. Also, can we talk about how cutely packaged everything is? I really adore companies that take the time to make sure EVERYTHING looks amazing when it’s shipped to a customer. When I recieved my package I also got a cute sticker and a sample of a loose pigment.

So, on to the actual palette. I’m going to talk about the packaging again, sorry. IT HAS A KITTEN ON IT. I die. It’s a kitten wearing a tiara. Honestly, this is the cutest palette I own so far. It’s a standard cardboard outside, but the kitten with the tiara makes me smile every damn time I look at it.

IMG_6696

When you open this palette up, there are 4 full sized shades in it. All of these shades are also sold separately for $12 each, so for $34 you’re getting all of them, which is a pretty decent discount.

Now, I will say that this is not a palette you would buy thinking there’s going to be a matte transition shade, a crease shade etc…you’ll have to use other shades to compliment this palette if that’s something you do. However, this palette comes with 4 stunning and pigmented shades that are perfect for Spring and Summer if you’re looking to do bold and/or flirty looks.

Pastels and bright shades tend to be hit and miss at times. Sometimes pastel shades can be very lacking in pigmentation, and sometimes bright shades can go on patchy and look dry.

How did these measure up? I’m getting to that!

IMG_6790

From left to right:

Kitten Parade- a peachy rose-gold shade with lots of shimmer

Frostine- a sheer lilac

Candy crush- a pastel mint shade

Hotsy Totsy- bright hot pink

Out of all of these, kitten parade is probably my favorite. I just really want to wear it everyday so that when people ask me what’s on my lids I can respond, “Kitten Parade.” Frostine took me a bit to build up, it’s a very sheer lilac shade. Pretty, but def not super “bam, in your face” pigmented. It does work beautifully to blend out edges if you’re using this palette to create a bright look though. Candy Crush also has a really nice texture to it, and while pigmented, you’ll get the best pigmentation if you use this over a white base like the Nyx Jumbo eye pencil in “Milk.” It’s super lovely, and I actually enjoy this shade as an inner corner highlight. Hotsy Totsy was the only one with a different texture than the rest. It was a bit dry. However, when I put it on my lid it blended out gorgeously and didn’t look dry on my lids. I think it feels a bit dry because it’s another one of those shades that’s a matte with shimmer added to the matte base. With that being said, with the right amount of blending this shade can be made into an out of this world hot pink matte shadow.

Overall, I’m so in love with this palette. I can’t wait to sit down and play with it more and create fun Summer looks with it. I may hate the Summer heat, but at least my eyeballs will be pretty.

I plan on filming a tutorial using this palette soon, so if you’re interested in that and are new to my blog, please follow me and/or subscribe to my channel!

As always, thanks for reading this post if you made this far, and I hope you’re all having wonderful days.

If you have any questions about this palette or in general, please ask!

ColourPop Turns 1!

IMG_6846

So, if you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably already seen this picture. ColourPop Cosmetics turned 1 years old as a company, and they celebrated by sending out a free shadow with ANY purchase last week in the shade “Birthday Girl.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Colourpop, they’re an indie brand that has been taking youtube and instagram by storm lately. They have grown so much over the past year, because their products are affordable and very unique. I have posted a few reviews that I will link at the end of this post, but in a nutshell, I love their products. They’re cruelty free and there’s an absolutely stellar range of colors. They started out with only eyeshadows, then added lippies, then added blushes, then added highlighters, and most recently…bronzers.

What I love about this brand is their attention to detail and how they constantly keep everyone in suspense as we wait on what they’ll come out with next. I’m so happy that they have had a great deal of success this year, and I wish them nothing but the best as a company.

I only ordered 2 things this time, mostly because I really wanted “Birthday Girl.” Don’t judge me, the pretty pink packaging sucked me in. So, I ordered a super shock shadow from the “Rumer Has It” collection, which is a collab with Rumer Willis. I ordered “Swan” because Swan Lake is beautiful in general, and I have a massive soft spot for white shadows…and glitter.

White shadows are the only ones that really show up well on my fair skin, and there’s just something so classic about stark white shadow and bright red lips, which is a look I wear often.

The brush pictured is from Sedona Lace, but I will be talking about that later on 😉

If you’re unfamiliar with Colourpop’s super shock shadow formula, they’re very creamy and not creamy at the exact same time. Very pigmented, very smooth, and rarely require primer if you wear them alone. For $5 a piece, these are some of my favorite single shadows, and I don’t buy single shadows very often.

colourpop birthday girl

Left is “Birthday Girl” which is a really pretty bronze shade and right is “Swan” which is a glittery and gorgeous white shade.

Both of these swatches are done over no primer, and I barely swirled my finger around in each pot to get this pigmentation. These are intense.

However, when I was looking closely at Swan I noticed it reminded me of something I already own…”Polyester Bride” by Urban Decay, which is my favorite inner corner highlight to use…and it’s $18 for the single shadow.

IMG_6853

Left: Polyester Bride by Urban Decay $18

Right: Swan by Colourpop $5

Well, they’re similar but still different. Colourpop’s has more glutter in it and Polyester Bride is more shimmery and a has a bit more silver in it. However, if you’re not too weird about little details, Swan might be a great and affordable alternative if you’re been wanting Polyester Bride, which I do recommend as a shade.

Anyway, that’s about it for today’s quick little post. I will be doing a review with swatches soon of the Colourpop Highlighters that I ordered a few weeks ago, so stay tuned!

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you decide to stay if you’re new to my blog!

Have a great night, lovelies.

Battle of the BB Creams

bb cream

Hey lovelies,

Spring is obviously here for many of us, but if you live somewhere humid as snot *raises hand* it already feels like Summer. Not gonna lie, I’m not a huge fan of Summer. If I didn’t have kids, I probably wouldn’t go outside much. I hate feeling like I’m melting.

When I do go out, I typically wear a BB cream as my main base with a tiny bit of powder on top. Full coverage foundations in The South probably aren’t gonna look cute in June and July no matter how much Urban Decay All Nighter you use..or at least for me. If you can wear full coverage in the Summer I envy you so very much. The humidity just makes it impossible for me to wear.

What is a BB cream? Some people say it stands for “beauty balm” and I’ve seen others say “blemish balm” but it’s a bit of an “all in one” type of product that covers and protects your skin, while also giving added benefits of SPF, hydration, etc. Some people wear these alone and some wear them underneath their foundations. It really depends on your preference and what you’re going for with your base.

So, today I want to talk about a few BB Creams that I have tried out over the past year and my thoughts on each. I’m going to rate these on a scale of 1-5 based on coverage, price, finish, lasting power, and overall skin benefits.

IMG_6748

NYC BB Matte BB Cream- Score- 3/5

I do like this bb cream since it is very decently priced, and surprisingly the “light” shade from this line is more of a color match for me than any other bb cream in this post. However, it just doesn’t set right on my skin at all. I have tried exfoliating, a serum, brush, sponge…everything. It will  look great when I first put it on and then when I look at myself an hour later I have granny face. It gives me wrinkles and I don’t even have wrinkles! It also doesn’t have spf or anything, and that’s not gonna cut it for this ghost girl in the spring time. I’m giving it a 3 because even though it doesn’t work for me, it would probably work great for someone with fair and oilier skin than me! It’s also the cheapest cream in this post, and is about $3 at most drugstores that carry NYC.

IMG_6750

Lioele BB Cream- Score 4/5

I have done a review on this bb cream in the past, but I recently came back to it and I really like it. It’s thick, but I can still put it on with my fingers and get even coverage. The color match isn’t great for me, but it does mix very well with my Hard Candy Glamoflauge foundation (930 porcelain). The price is probably not ideal for many, but I did snag this on sale on prettyandcute.com awhile back, and I know that it’s also sold on amazon and ladymoss.com. I don’t believe this one has spf either. I want to say this foundation is about $15-20, but it depends on where you’re buying it from in some cases. There’s no SPF in this BB cream, but it is very hydrating and lays well on the skin. This BB cream is a great one that I will probably continue to reach for and just wear SPF underneath it.

IMG_6751

Rimmel Matte BB Cream- Score 4/5

This BB cream is actually one that I reach for often even though I have dry skin and tend to avoid matte finishes. It has a really nice buildable medium coverage and has SPF in it. That makes it not very photo-op worthy, but it is good for your skin and will protect you from the sun. This is very affordable and readily available to many since it’s a drugstore BB cream. It doesn’t get a 5 though because the shade “light” is so off. I can easily correct it with my hard candy glamoflauge foundation or manic panic foundation, but it is annoying. This BB cream also claims to be beneficial to skin in 9 different ways, and it’s one that I do recommend trying if you’re looking for an affordable drugstore BB cream.

IMG_6749

LA Girl Pro BB Cream- Score 4/5

This is the newest BB cream I’ve been trying out because Nicole from young, wild, and polished recommended it to me in a comment I left on one of her videos. At $4 I figured it was worth a shot. I have the shade “fair” which is a better match for me than the Rimmel, but still pretty dark on me. However, the finish is really lovely and leaves a nice satin-but-not-too-dewy glow to my skin. I didn’t give this a 5 because there’s no SPF, but because it’s HD it will  work really well if you vlog like myself and don’t want to wear a heavy foundation on camera in the Spring and Summer. Also, this BB cream is a bit high maintenance for me some days. I feel like I have to powder my face more than usual (which is odd to begin with me, I almost never need powder) but when it’s a bit more humid than usual I feel this BB cream tends to slip a bit on my skin. So, if you have oily skin this may not be the best for you, but it’s still worth a shot given LA Girl is so affordable.

So, that was it for the BB creams I currently have in my stash. As you all can see, none received a perfect score, but none are very poor either in my opinion. Or maybe I just try to see the good in everything…who knows.

What are some of your favorite BB creams? I know that one I may end up biting the bullet and buying is the It Cosmetics CC cream because from what I can see the “fair” shade is actually made for those with fair skin and the coverage and finish looks stunning on everyone I’ve seen it on. I know it’s not a “BB” cream, but close enough to me.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, and I hope to add some more posts about random things in my stash in the future!

Lips of the Day: LaSplash Lip Lustre “Belle”

lasplash liquid lipstick

It’s no secret on my blog or youtube channel that I am a huge fan of LaSplash’s liquid lipsticks. They are incredibly long lasting, matte, and at $12 a pop, these are some of the most affordable liquid lipsticks that are taking the beauty community by storm.

However, I don’t see as much about the lip lustres as I do about the smitten lip tint mousses and original liquid lipstick lines.

The lip lustres are a few bucks more expensive, but to me they are so unique in terms of lipstick. They have glitter in them, but they are still matte and long lasting. Say what? What’s even cooler, is that the glitter can be “activated” by rubbing your lips a bit after the product has dried. Sometimes I will rub my lips while wearing one for a glammed out look, and sometimes I leave it be for more of a subtle shimmer. It’s almost like having two shades of lipstick in one tube.

Today, I want to give a shout out to “Belle” because Belle is such a fun nude shade. I find this shade without the glitter to be flattering for pale skin tones, but with the gold glitter this shade is just…life. I love it.

I love how well this shade compliments a nice peachy cheek and white-gold highlight for Spring time. It’s a subtle way to bring a whole lot of glamour to a look.

Seriously, look at that gold sparkle. I can’t get enough of it.

I do have another shade called “Lady” (I believe all of these are named after Disney characters) that I will try to swatch sometime soon. I just wanted to mention this one today because everyone seems to be all about getting nude. WAIT…I mean everyone seems to be all about wearing nudes.

My septum clicker is from Body Art Forms 🙂 Oh, and because people ask me often if I have “boogers” in my lip swatches…yes…those are totally gigantic shiny boogers. No, silly, those are my nose studs…that sometimes collect boogers.

Anyway, thanks for reading! If you want to see more “lips of the day” post please let me know! This is really the first time I’ve done a post focusing on one shade and I don’t know if that’s something you all would enjoy on a semi-regular basis.

Too Faced Natural Matte Palette

too faced natural matte

Hey lovelies,

Today, I have another palette review! This is going to be about the relatively new Too Faced Natural Eyes Matte palette. Not to be mistaken with their original Natural Eyes palette (one of my personal favorites).

This palette is $36 on http://www.toofaced.com or on sephora.com, but I actually snagged this for 20% using a code from Ipsy. There are two new palettes right now on Too Faced, a matte one and a colorful one. You all know how much I love matte shadows…and neutrals, so yeah, I needed this one.

First off, there are 9 shades in this palette. There are a couple of repeat shades from the original, but I don’t mind. The repeat shades are Heaven, Garter Belt, Sexpresso, and Nudie. I love those shades in the original, so I honestly don’t mind having duplicates of them. However, if that bugs you keep it in mind if you’re debating on getting this.

This is the side by side comparison. Even though there are duplicate shades, these palettes are very different outside of the fact that the original has shimmer shades.

The shades that drew me in and basically seduced me were “chocolate cookie” and “honey butter.” Those shades just looked so damn pretty to me.

I do feel there is a good balance of warm and cooler shades in this palette.

The shadows did kick up a bit when I first tried them (mostly chocolate cookie) but it wasn’t too bad. The colors are still very blendable and buttery.

In terms of pigmentation, these are pretty pigmented, but maybe not as pigmented as my Kat Von D Shade + Light eye palette. I have a feeling I may be comparing every palette I buy this year to that one.

If I had to choose between the two for life threatening reasons, I would go with the Kat Von D one. Unless you’re a collector or just really freakin’ love palettes, you probably won’t need bother. Too Faced is my second favorite brand of all time though, so I wanted it for obvious personal reasons.

Hey, this is a non judging zone.

I did these swatches over no primer.

Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase and I don’t feel it’s a redundant thing for me to have, even though I already own the original. I feel the colors blend easily and look beautiful over primed eyelids. Chocolate cookie and Honey Butter are everything, in my opinion. I really love those two colors. This packaging is also very travel friendly.

Attached is a first impression with me using the shadows and a matte brown smokey eye tutorial 🙂
Enjoy, and subscribe to my channel if you want to!

I hope you all liked this post, and thanks for reading.

Favorites Friday

YES! THE WEEKEND IS ALMOST HERE!

I’m not going to lie, I’ve had a rough week. I have a teething baby and I’m recovering from an intense stomach bug. Someone dear to me also passed away this week, but I know he would want me to keep doing what I love even though I am sad, so here I am. I love blogging. I really and truly do. Not for money or anything, because it’s probably obvious that I don’t make money from this. I’ve loved makeup and art since I was 2. My very first memories are of me drawing on my mom with eyeliner and singing my little heart out all the time. Creating is my passion. I’ve created music, makeup looks, babies, paintings…this is who I am, and this is what makes me happy.

You all make me so happy. I just wanted to say that this week.

I will never stop creating. I will never stop singing.

Here are some of my favorite moments and things for the week, I hope you all enjoy!

1. Favorite Piper Moment Okay, so every time I look at this picture I bust out laughing. We went to Jeremy’s grandparents house last week because it was his grandma’s birthday, and Grandma Patsy made some us a good southern dinner. I’m talking rolls, potatoes, green beans, cabbage, fried okra…the works. I gave Piper some mashed potatoes and green beans and I have never seen a baby shove food in their mouth the way Piper did. This was her face afterwards. It screams:

“I’ve made a mistake. I misjudged my own stomach. Too full.”

Let’s just say we all had an amazing family nap once we got home.

2. So, I got an email from Kat Von D’s Beauty Page saying that the website had been updated. I was scrolling through it looking at all the new photos…and look at how I found! ME! I’m honestly so excited, and I don’t care if anyone finds that to be odd. Kat Von D is one of my beauty inspirations, and this was such a cool moment for me. My review of the Innerstellar palette can be found here for anyone interested.

3. Makeup Faves I’ve been loving the new Hard Candy Natural Eyes Palette. I have a review here and a video using this palette here.

I’ve also rediscovered my love for Too Faced Melted Lipstick in “Fig.” It’s the perfect neutral plum color. I die over it. I’ve been using elf smudge pots all week to prime my eyes. They are so perfect! If you’re looking for a cruelty free dupe of the maybelline color tattoos, pick up a few elf smudge pots. They’re also half the price!

4. Favorite Jewelry piece The Ghost Milk necklace from Worship 13. It’s so gorgeous, and it actually shifts color in different lighting. I can’t get over how perfect it is. I’ve mentioned Worship 13 several times before, but I really love her shop. Her items are so well put together and beautiful.

5. Favorite Shirt I love Pink Floyd. I picked this shirt up at Kohl’s for $2 a few weeks ago, and it’s so comfy. It’s a Men’s shirt, technically, but I don’t give a damn. It’s a woman’s big baggy badass shirt now. I live in band tees and shorts/skirts in the spring and summer.

On my lips: Lasplash “Lady” topped with Milani’s “Florence” Fierced Foil Gloss

Those are the favorites I wanted to share with you all this week! I will see you all again next Friday with more favorites!
