1. what’s your dream job and why?

I would love to do anything artistic and make a little money doing so. I love painting, drawing, and creating in general. They don’t call them “starving artists” for nothing though.

2.If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I’ve been to one of dream cities, Paris. I do want to travel through Ireland with just a camera and a backpack.

3.Would you rather only ever use mascara or only ever use concealer?

I will say concealer. I have said this a million times, but concealer takes me from Tim Burton character to normal human being in less than a minute.

4.What’s the best beauty advice you have ever been given?

“Makeup is fun. Do whatever you want, but make sure it’s for you.”

5. what’s your favourite high street clothes store?

High street? I live on broke street. I like Forever 21.

6. what does your typical spa night include?

A glass of wine and a book. I’m usually too tired for much else. Is Netflix a spa?

7. sweet or savoury?

I would say savoury. I don’t eat too many sweet things.

8.what’s your favourite thing about blogging?

The community! I’ve made a few friends blogging and I truly love finding supportive and empowering people. I have loved reading about people’s lives and their journeys. I love everything about blogging, honestly.

9. who’s your biggest inspiration?

My mother. If I can become half the parent and woman she is, I will feel satisfied with my life. Maybe that’s cliche, but I am very close to my mom. She had 3 kids by the time she was 19 years old and since then has been an incredible mother, wife, and now has a blossoming career. She is incredibly strong and beautiful in every sense.

10. If you could only ever listen to one song, what would it be?

This is too hard. Can I pass? I’m gonna pass. This question made my heart hurt haha.

The Instagram Tag

Hey lovelies,

Today I have a tag post! I haven’t done one of these in a bit, and this was sitting in my drafts and it looks fun! I don’t think anyone tagged me to do this, but I wanted to do it anyway. Instagram is probably my favorite social media platform. I’m a very visual person, and I feel that I can learn a lot about people solely based on the pictures they take and display on the internet. If you pay close attention, you can probably find out what someone loves, even if they only post product flatlays.

What’s in their flatlay? A cup of coffee? What magazine or book are they reading? If you follow me on Instagram already, you’ll notice that I typically have some sort of flower and/or pearls in my flatlays. It’s my own vintage touch. I use a lot of reds, black, and neutrals in my photos, and I know that transcends into blog posts and personality. Just something to ponder next time you’re aimlessly scrolling on Instagram.

#beautyblogger This one is a favorite for obvious reasons. I really love scouring the photos of fellow bloggers and finding inspiration myself and neat things to read!

#dupethat I’m a diva on a budget and I really love some of the dupes I have found through this hashtag.

#trendmood This hashtag is where I drool over all the new makeup releases and upcoming releases. My bank account hates this hashtag.

#kittens Because…cats.

#huskies Because…puppies.

5. What is your favourite genre of pictures?

Oh, I love pictures of all sorts. I love photos of kids, flatlays of makeup and beauty products, pets…

I really love getting peaks into others lives and interests.

6. How often do you post?

I try to post once a day or once every few days. Most of the photos on my instagram are just makeup pictures that I love to take 🙂

7. How often do you check Instagram?

Pretty often, to be honest. My longest times on Instagram are in the morning and when I go to bed, but I also check it every time Piper nurses.

8. What’s your favourite filter?

I actually don’t use filters often. I tend to brighten my photos through Afterlight. If I do use a filter it’s Aden, and even then I tone it down quite a bit. I’m a bit more simple with my lighting and posts, normally.

9. iPhone only, purist or rebel?

…wut? Most of my Instagram photos are from my iPhone if that’s what this question is about.

1. What’s your favorite lip product – like ever!!

I am obsessed with matte liquid lipsticks. I own so many and from a lot of different brands. I like how I can apply them and not think too much about how they’re going to look in an hour. They don’t get on my teeth and I really love how matte lipstick looks.

2. If you could live anywhere in the world… Where would it be?

Probably Sweden. I really love cold weather and there’s just something so captivating about Sweden. That’s probably going to be a weird answer to a lot of people, but I could live anywhere cold, to be honest.

3. What is your favorite clothing line?

I don’t really have one haha. I wear a lot of things from Forever 21 and Rue 21, but I’m a jeans and tee kind of gal.

4. What’s your favorite movie?

I have a lot of favorite movies. Some of the ones I mention a lot are Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Donnie Darko, and Black Swan.

5. What’s your favorite flower?

Roses! Any and all roses. I have them tattooed on me and I buy almost anything rose scented. I also adore sunflowers though.

6. Do You have a pet?

I have a siberian husky and maine coon kitty.

7. What’s your favorite Perfume?

I don’t wear a lot of perfume, but I love “Scandolous” by Victoria’s Secret and “Sinner” by Kat Von D (even though it’s discontinued! my heart is BROKEN)

Well, I already have two girls named Harmony and Piper. If we have a boy we want to use the name Lyrik, and if we have another girl it’s a toss up between Melody and Harper.

I played soccer in High School. I still play here and there, but I also love tennis. My little brother is supposed to teach me how to play disc golf this Spring.

Probably Bravo. I adore Italian food. That’s where Jeremy and I go to when we want a nice date that involves tons of carbs and wine.

Do You Like School?

In a sense, yes, I did. However, school and tests have always made me anxious, and it always reflected on my tests. I love learning, I hate the pressure of test taking.

Hi, my name is Kayla, and I really love tag posts.
I came across this one on beautybucketeer.com and decided to participate.

As usual, I tag anyone that wants to participate, and if you do please feel free to link your posts down below. I would love to read them!

1. What is the one product you’d grab if your house was on fire?
Slightly morbid question, but if I could get one makeup item in between making sure my family was safe I suppose I would choose my Kat Von D Innerstellar palette. Or my Jeffree Star lipsticks.
Eeek! How do you choose one?

2. Which beauty vlogger would you want to do your makeover?
Probably Bailey from Baileybeautyxo. I love her style and she so talented and creative.

3. What celeb do people think you look like?
I get Christina Ricci often…? That and Natalie Dormer. I think it’s my nose.

4. What beauty product do you save for date night?
Date night is when I whip out all of my high end makeup and slather it on my face at the same time.

5. Which of your guy friends take longer than you to get ready?
I don’t really have any “guy friends” now that I’ve had kids, but one of my little brothers takes foreeeeevvvver to get ready.

6. If you could create your own miracle beauty product, what would it be?
Not too sure. Probably a foundation brand that caters to literally every individual and has more than 5 color choices. I feel that way too many makeup brands start right in the middle with foundations and then don’t go much further than that, and that’s not how skin works. It bugs me.

7. What’s your best beauty tip?
I actually have quite a few. One of my favorites is spraying my foundation brush with water to sheer out very thick foundation. Or heating up crappy liners with a lighter for a few seconds to help them apply easier.

8. What beauty products do you love to splurge on?
I splurge on foundations and lipsticks, usually.

9. Which beauty vloggers would you bring on a shopping spree?
Probably Estee (Essiebutton) and Jaclyn Hill. They just seem to know their shit.

10. What is your signature scent?
It’s a toss up between vanilla and roses. I love the smell of both, and I like to smell like either…or both. I’m a huge fan of rose water and smelling like baking products.

11. I am on an endless quest for the perfect…
FOUNDATION. Either it’s too dark, too yellow, or looks cakey on my skin. No foundation has ever been the right everything on me. So. Frustrating.

12. How many beauty products does it take to get you ready?
Pleading the 5th on this question because I am too lazy to even count how many. Trust me, it’s more than enough.

13. What lipstick/lipgloss is in your purse right now?
All of these:

I typically keep a good mix of balms, glosses, and lipsticks in my purse. Just in case. I gotta have options.

14. Who is your celebrity beauty icon?
Dita Von Teese. Her makeup is so flawless and classic. I need to know what pale princess products she uses as well. Le Sigh. I’m also a huge fan of Kat Von D though. She goes above and beyond and seems to always think outside the box. Is Kat Von D considered a celebrity?

15. Name the beauty brand you’d most love to be a spokesperson of.
Probably Kat Von D or Too Faced. I truly love almost everything they come out with from the packaging to the product. Very fun and creative brands.

16. What’s your current nail polish?

I’ve been loving these little babies. So great and incredibly affordable.

17. Favorite mascara right now?
I’ve been loving the Physicians Formula eyelash extensions kit and my Maybelline lash sensation.

18. The last thing you bought at Sephora?
I bought Kat Von D’s Everlasting Lipstick in “Vampira” during their last restock.

19. I try never to be seen without wearing…
I can’t be seen without my brows. I was not blessed with naturally full brows. That and without concealer I look like a living Tim Burton character, so I have to put on a bit of concealer and powder.

20. What’s one beauty product you always recommend?
The one I always find myself recommending is Manic Panic’s dream tone foundation in white for my fellow pale warriors. I also recommend having at least one red lipstick that makes you feel radiant and confident.

The TMI Tag

I saw this on another page and I think it’s a cute tag. I think everything’s cute though and that’s not a problem. Anyway, here’s my answers to the questions.

1. What are you wearing? Fuzzy leopard pajama pants and a baggy black sweater. My hair is in a bun and I look like the ideal image of a lazy mom.

2. Ever been in love? Why yes I have.

3. Ever had a terrible breakup? Not really. Only because I’ve never been in many serious relationships.

4. How tall are you? 5’3″

5. How much do you weigh? I weigh enough. 😛 Honestly, I wouldn’t mind answering this if I carried weight normally. I look way lighter than the number on the scale if that makes sense at all. So, I tend to keep my weight to myself and not worry too much about numbers.

6. Any tattoos? Yep. I have a half sleeve on my left arm, an anchor on my wrist, another smaller tattoo on my right arm and a small tattoo on my left shoulder. I plan on getting more, potentially this year. The plan is to have 2 arms sleeves and start on my thigh pieces soon.

7. Any piercings? Yes. I have both my nostrils pierced and my septum, and 2 holes in both my ears. Debating on adding either a medusa piercing or re-piercing my lip sometime in the near future.

8. OTP? Okay, I had to look up what this means. I’m not into fandoms.

9. Favorite show? House, True Blood, Dexter, and currently Vikings

10. Favorite bands? Pink Floyd, The Black Dahlia Murder, Slayer, and I will forever be a Misfits fan.

11. Something you miss? My old apartment. We’re currently living in a tiny ass house to save money to pay off debt and have a clean slate for our dream home and it gets cramped some days. I’m a cuddly and affectionate person, but I wish I had my own room to craft and create and get away from everyone sometimes.

12. Favorite song? Well, I can’t really think of any right now. My favorite album for the past few weeks has been “Pain is Beauty” by Chelsea Wolfe though.

13. How old are you? 25.

14. Zodiac sign? Scorpio

15. Quality you look for in a partner? Kindness, the ability to listen and hold a conversation with me. Being open minded and willing to accept the world is a huge place filled with many different kinds of people. I like humor in partners, but I don’t like people that find humor in sexism and racism and that tends to disqualify a lot of people.

16. Favorite quote? Shit, this one is hard for me because I love so many quotes. Here’s one of my favorites though:

18. Favorite color? Black. Okay, that’s not a color technically. I guess it would have to be purple. I actually adore all shades of purple.

19. Loud or soft music? If you saw my answer for favorite bands you can probably guess I love loud music 🙂

20. Where do you go when you’re sad? I tend to knit or paint alone when I’m sad. It distracts me enough to not really feel much of anything.

21. How long does it take you to shower? 5-7 minutes. I’ve perfected the art of quick, yet efficient showers after having 2 kids.

22. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? It depends on what I’m doing, but anywhere between 30 mins-1 hour.

23. Ever been in a physical fight? No. I tend to stay away from people in general.

24. Turn on? Long conversations about anything and everything and listening to music with me.

25. Turn off? arrogance, racism, sexism, the use of the word “sapiosexual” and condescending individuals in general.

26. The reason I joined [WordPress]? I think I originally created my blog to post about my pregnancy and birth experiences and people started asking for beauty advice. I evolved.

27. Fears? Burning alive and being in a situation where I can’t save one or both of my kids.

28. Last thing that made you cry? Feeling overwhelmed because me and both kids are very sick.

29. Last time you said you loved someone? Just a few hours ago I told Jeremy I loved him before we went to bed.

36. Favorite food? Cheesecake and burritos. I am now great at not indulging in cheesecake often, but I am a sucker for a great burrito.

37. Place you want to visit? Scotland, and I eventually want to go back to France and Hungary to explore a bit more.

38. Last place you were? I went to my parents house on Sunday and that’s been about it since I’m sick.

39. Do you have a crush? I’m not in middle school anymore?

41. Last time you were insulted? It’s nearly impossible to insult me. I’ve been called “fat,” I’ve been slut shamed etc and none of it really hurts me personally. I end up feeling sorry for the people throwing the insults.

42. Favorite flavor of sweet? Watermelon and blueberry. I went through a phase where I was eating sour patch watermelons every time I went to Target.

43. What instruments do you play? I play some guitar. Still learning.

44. Favorite piece of jewelery? My engagement ring. It used to be my granny’s (she’s passed) and it means so much to me. Way more than what a ring from a store could ever mean for me.

45. Last sport you played? I played soccer in high school. I still like to play tennis here and there when there’s time.

46. Last song you sang? Probably a song from some kids show.

49. Last time you hung out with anyone? I hang out with my kids everyday 🙂 no but seriously I make sure to “hang out” with Jeremy at least once a week, even if it’s for just a few hours.
