Face of the day: Revealed 2 PaletteĀ

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 palette is one of my favorites. I love the mauve and browns in this palette…it’s just so perfect in every way! I also haven’t shown this palette any love in a bit because of all the new palettes I’ve added (oops) so today I’m showing this beauty some love!

This is a really simple “mauve smokey eye” I did today using most of the matte shades in the palette. I have the deep mauve shade on the lid and the lighter pink shade as a transition shade. I put the chocolate brown shade in the crease to deepen the mauve shade a bit and then placed the reddish brown shade on the outter portion of my eye. I blended until my arm was gonna fall off with this look.

I used my trusty physicians formula eye booster pen to create a wing and my lashes are Kara #43.

On the lower lash line I blended the light and dark mauve shades together and placed the dark brown on the outer part. My waterline is Rimmel scandal eyes in “nude.”

On my face is Nyx blush in “taupe” to contour and I used my Pixi “subtly sunned” bronzer to warm up my face a bit (unusual for me, yes)

Blush is colourpop “prenup” which is a really pretty mauve type of color and highlight is by physicians formula

Brows are an ofra brow pencil that came in my lip monthly bag this month. More info on it next week!

Lips are colourpop’s lippie stick and pencil in “brink”

Everything was set with my urban decay all nighter spray.

Welp, that’s about it for today’s face of the day! I hope you all enjoyed!

Affordable Marsala Looks with Kaily at Someday Sunny

Do I even need to say at this point that the Pantone color of the year is Marsala? It’s been the buzz of 2015 in the beauty community! The beautiful reddish brown shade that I think flatters every skin tone, and to be honest it’s the first color of the year I have been excited about in a few years. The other thing I like about this color is that there is a decent range within the color itself.

There are darker and lighter Marsala shades, and chances are you already have a few in your collection! If not, you may be looking at the new $40+ pantone universe palette thinking, “I can’t afford that.” We’ve all been there, and do not despair, I have collaborated with Kaily from somedaysunny.com to show a day time and night time Marsala look using the Revealed 2 palette from coastalscents.com. This palette is incredibly affordable at $20 regular priced, and the quality is hard to beat. It’s actually one of my all time favorite palettes in the history of palettes, and that’s saying something for me. There are a couple of marsala shades within this palette that can played up or down to create numerous types of looks.

The look Kaily has created for day time is beautiful (as is she) so after you read this, please make sure to check out her post and look here:

For my “night time” look I went with the deeper end of the Marsala range, using mainly the wine, deep brownish red, and gold colors from the Revealed 2 palette. I feel like I cheated a bit and used Oktoberfest ( hot pot from Coastal Scents) as my transition shade, but there weren’t any warmer matte shades in the palette :/ Sorry, Kaily.

I primed my eyelids with Nyx’s white jumbo pencil to make sure the colors really popped on my lids and took a fluffy brush and put Oktoberfest on my crease and blended it out as my transition shade. I then took the wine colored shade from Revealed 2 and put that in my crease as well and blended accordingly. I then took the deep brownish red (my absolute favorite shade) on a flat brush and put it on the outter and inner parts of the lid, but not in the middle. I didn’t put it in the middle because I wanted to do a “spotlight” look using a gold shade. I blended it out, but not too much, and then using the fluffy brush that had the wine shade made sure everything looked seamless and nice.

I dabbed the gold shade in this palette on my index finger and patted it on the middle part of my lid going up the crease. I use a patting motion to blend it out as I’m applying.

I then took the sparkly champagne shade (second one over) and put it on my brow bones and used my physicians formula eye booster in ultra black to create a wing on both eyes. I applied my favorite red cherry lashes in 605 and while waiting for those to dry I moved on to the bottom lashes.
The bottom lash line is simple. I lined my water line with the white jumbo eye pencil and blended Oktoberfest and the brownish-red (marsala) shades together on my lash line and finished it with mascara.

That’s the completed eye look!

For my lips to keep with the affordable theme I lined them with Jordana’s liner in “terra cotta” and dabbed wet n wild’s “ring around the rosy” lipstick on my lips. Notice I said dabbed šŸ™‚ I wanted my lips to be on the deeper brownish-red end, since this is a night look and all.

I had so much fun creating this look! I love this shade, and will probably rock it even after this year.
