Worth the Hype? Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette Review

too faced sweet peach

Hello beauties,

I have another palette review today! If you are on Instagram or really anywhere beauty related, you’ve probably seen the hype behind the limited edition Too Faced Sweet Peach palette. It’s a touchy subject for some, and it was for me for a few weeks. I collect palettes, Too Faced palettes are some of my favorites, and I knew I wanted to try this one. I missed every release for a week, and I’m normally a beast at online releases. Finally, I was able to snag one on HSN. I had to wait for a month for it to arrive to me. A MONTH.

So, is it worth all the virtual hype? That’s part of what I will be going over in today’s review.

First off, the packaging is your standard cuter-than-life Too Faced packaging. It comes in the long tin, much like the Chocolate Bar, and has a peachy ombre color to the front of it. If you’re a collector like myself, this packaging is already very aesthetically pleasing. I expect nothing less from Too Faced, their packaging is always very cute while remaining practical in terms of storage.

too faced sweet peach palette

When you open the palette up, before you can even take a look at the shades, your nose is graced by the smell of delicious peaches. I love the chocolate bar palette because it smells heavenly, and this one smells even yummier to me. I absolutely adore the scent of peaches, and I typically smell like a walking peach all year long.

Next you’ll probably notice that this palette is laid out a bit different than other Too Faced palettes. Normally, the food type palettes have 2 longer shades so the palette only has 16 shades, while this one has 18 shades, all in the same sized pans. I personally like this lay out so much better. Less space taken up equals more shades. It’s so rare that I would ever go through a shade that the longer ones normally are, so I definitely prefer to have more shades to play around with.

Price: $49

Accessibility: Good luck trying to find this palette right now.

I’m honestly not trying to be a smart ass when I say that. This palette has been a pain in the butt crack for so many people to get, to the point I’ve read people being in tears over not being able to get one. I have never seen a palette this hyped up and in high demand before, and I’ve been collecting palettes for awhile. I hope that Too Faced makes this palette permanent, maybe this is the soft pregnant heart of mine speaking, but I do wish everyone that wants this palette can get it.

Swatches:

too faced sweet peach palette

Bottom to top: white peach, luscious, just peachy, bless her heart, tempting, charmed I’m sure, nectar, cobbler, candied peach

too faced sweet peach palette

Bottom to top: Bellini, peach pit, delectable, peaches n cream, georgia, caramelized, puree, summer yum, talk derby to me

These were all swatched with no primer underneath and beneath indirect daylight bulbs.

My personal favorite shades in this palette are bellini, peach pit, puree, and summer yum. Peach Pit is such a rich and luxurious shade of brown. I die over it.

I found that all of these shades swatched much like the shades in my Chocolate Bar palette, smoothly and I was able to get a lot of product with little to no effort. This is why I love Too Faced shadows in general.

I do enjoy that there are lighter and deeper shades in this palette. This is something that I harp on a lot during reviews. I think the perfect palette has the potential create daytime and nighttime looks. Many palettes just kind of skip on the deeper tones, and that’s just weird to me. There are 4 true matte shades in this palette, but white peach can be blended out to a matte if needed, so more like 5 mattes, which is pretty decent, in my opinion.

As you can probably see, this palette is very warm toned. I’ll admit that I expected a few more true peach shades, but I found myself happy with the shades they did include. There’s peachy shades for more toned down looks, and a brighter one (candied peach) for those more daring. I also love the inclusion of purple in this palette. For some reason, peach and purple look so gorgeous together. It’s a color combo I didn’t expect to personally love.

I have played around with this on my eyes.

For this more simple peachy smokey eye, I used the shades puree, summer yum, bellini, white peach, and peach pit. All of the shades applied well with a brush and I had no trouble blending them out, but I was still able to create a layered look easily. Once again, this is why I personally love Too Faced shadows in general. For the most part (some flops here and there) I have always been impressed with how smooth their shadows apply on my lids. I have a feeling that I will be reaching for this palette often in the Summer. I am not one to wear just bronze shades or golds, but peaches I feel are flattering on fair skin. Though if you have a deeper skin tone than me, I feel this palette would be stunning on your eyes because there are several deeper shades and some beautiful bronzes.

Do I feel this palette is worth the hype? Yes and no

Yes, if you’re someone like me that loves collecting palettes and is a Too Faced fan girl. If you are able to find this at your local Ulta or Sephora, I do feel this is a palette worth picking up and trying. Even if you don’t like it, it’s so wanted right now that you could sanitize it and resell it easily to someone else that is searching for it.

No, if you’re truly frustrated and do not want to fool with it. I understand 100%. I lucked out when I bought mine. About 1 min after I placed my order, it was sold out once again. I think a lot of the shades in this palette can be duped. I know that Nyx’s golden peach prismatic shadow is pretty close to the Bellini shade in this palette. Also, the Morphe 35O (another favorite of mine) is a very warm toned palette with peaches and oranges, and that palette is permanent, whereas the Sweet Peach palette is limited edition. Warm shades and peachy shades are so trendy and in demand right now that I do feel this palette is pretty easy to dupe. If you’re feeling down, check sites like Makeup Geek and Morphe for single shadows, you’ll probably be surprised at what you can find, or take a look in your collection.

With that being said, I do not regret this purchase. As I mentioned before, I do collect palettes, and Too Faced is a brand that I do enjoy collecting from. This palette did satisfy my collector’s soul, but I am also happy with the quality of it. Too Faced did not let me down this time.

If you have this palette, what are your thoughts on it? I love reading your all’s diverse opinions regarding products. Also, if you don’t have this, do you want it? Or do you think you’ll pass on this very hyped palette?

I hope you all found this review informative or entertaining in some way. As always, thank you all for reading, and I hope you’re all having lovely days.

Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette

too faced peanut butter and jelly

Hey lovelies,

Are you all ready for Spring? I have some odd feelings towards Spring. I like early Spring when it’s still cooler and I can layer, but my allergies do not enjoy Spring. It’s my worst season as an asthmatic. I will say that the Winter in my city was not so great and felt like Spring most days, so maybe the transition will be easier.

Today, I want to share a new eyeshadow palette with you all! Yes, momma did a bit too much shopping. I saw little sneak peaks of this palette floating around on Instagram before it was released, and I had convinced myself I didn’t need it. Well, then Too Faced sent out a 20% off code and offered a deluxe sized Better than Sex mascara (my holy grail) and a lipstick with any purchase, and I caved.

The one blogger that kind of convinced me this would be fun to play around with was Jkissa. I love how she put the purple in the inner corner, and I thought it was a fun twist on a warm toned look!

Now, warm toned shadows were not my thing a year ago. I was a cool gal all the way. I’ve since expanded my horizons and I’ve learned to take any warm palette and grunge it up a bit. There’s something about a warm grungy smokey eye that is so timeless to me.

Anyway, on to the actual palette. This is a limited edition palette from Too Faced that can be found on their website or on Ulta’s website. I don’t know if it’s in Ulta stores yet, or if it will be. This palette looks like the other small tin palettes from Too Faced, which we all know I love and still use quite often.

What I like about many of these tin palettes are that they are adorable, and the ones I have can be used for everyday looks and night time looks. The packaging is travel friendly as well.

This palette retails at $36, which is the same price as all the other 9 shade tin palettes.

Right off the bat, I love the shade variety in this palette. There are purples, oranges, a gold, peach, and even a white shade that can work on the brow bone. There are two matte “transition” shades that can be worn separately or used together. That’s going to make this palette versatile, and it’ll be easy for even beginners to create looks without it being too intimidating. Sometimes we all just need to go back to the basics.

Second, look at that freakin packaging. Hands down the cutest palette Too Faced has released so far, in my opinion.

too faced peanut butter and jelly

Too Faced is known for releasing cute products, which is why I don’t mind spending a bit more money on them. If I’m going to spend decent money on a product, I would prefer for it to be aesthetically pleasing. This also makes it a nice collector’s piece.

This palette is supposed to smell like peanut butter, which actually sets it apart from the other tin palettes. However, I think it smells more like chocolate.

too faced peanut butter and jelly

Of course, every shade is reminiscent of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I will admit I have never been a fan of bananas on my peanut butter sandwiches though. I also like crunchy peanut butter over creamy, and strawberry jelly over grape.

As for swatches, these were done over no primer. The shades swatches very easily and felt super smooth, which is something I experience often with Too Faced shadows in general.

too faced peanut butter and jelly

From the wrist down: Nuts about you, Jelly, Extra Creamy, Jammin, Peanut Brittle, Bananas, Peanut Butter Cup, Peanut Butter, Spread the Love

What I love about this palette: Great pigmentation, smooth shades, several mattes for transition, a pop of color, a matte white to highlight, blends easily

What I don’t love: Spread the love was the only shade that didn’t blow me away. It’s pretty sheer, but it’ll probably look lovely layered over another shade.

I did create a look with this palette last week and paired it with the Natural Matte palette. If you have the Natural Matte palette, the Peanut Butter and Jelly one will pair perfectly with it!

too faced peanut butter and jelly

Here I used a lot of the shades and used Bananas over top of Peanut Butter cup on the lid. The result was beautiful! I feel Jelly works really well in the inner corner if you love an interesting pop of color in your looks.

too faced peanut butter and jelly

My overall thoughts on this palette are that this is worth the purchase if you’re someone that collects these or wants a new warm toned palette for Spring and Summer. I feel this palette has the right mixture of shades to create soft and bold looks, and I love that Too Faced finally put a matte white in a palette.

I think this is a palette that will work on many different skin tones. I know a lot of fellow pale humans fear warm shades, I know I did, but they’re growing on me. Over the past 6 months I’ve learned to love them and I like the warmth some shades give my look on days that I feel super tired and mom-bie like.

What are your thoughts on this palette? Will you be picking it up? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section!

As always, thank you for stopping by. I hope you all found this helpful or entertaining in some way!

Face of the Day: Smokey eyes & Brown Lips

IMG_2606

Hey beauties,

It’s Thursday, and I do have a new “face of the day” post this week! How is everyone’s October going so far? I’ve mostly been hanging out with my kids, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Most of the fall festivals don’t start for another couple of weeks in my city.

Anyway, today I wanted to share another smokey eye that doesn’t require winged liner with a dark lip. These looks surprisingly don’t take long, and it’s probably because I delete 30 mins of crying over my eyeliner. However, I do have lashes on. I feel it’s a nice touch to any smokey eye.

it cosmetics cc cream fair

Primer: Too Faced HangoverX primer

Foundation & Powder: It Cosmetics CC Cream + Illumination in “Fair.” I got this CC cream off of Glambot for relatively cheap (compared to the full retail price) and I was so excited to try it out! Fair is actually a great color match for me, and this CC cream is very full coverage, but doesn’t look cakey. I’m impressed so far! Powder is my usual, Laura Geller Balance and Brightening powder in “Porcelain.”

Concealer: Nyx Cosmetics HD concealer in Porcelain and Lavender. Set with Physicians Formula Correcting Powder in Translucent.

Contour: Nyx HD Blush in “Taupe.” I just hit pan today while using this. Nose Contour is the City Color Cosmetics contour duo in “Light”

Blush: City Color Cosmetics Matte Blush in “Blackberry.” I do have a coupon code, if you enter “Lunafayebeauty” on citycolorcosmetics.com you can save 10%. I love these matte blushes though. Very pigmented, easy to blend, affordable, and they last a long time on my cheeks.

Highlight: The Balm’s “Mary Lou-Manizer”

IMG_2605 colourpop central perk

Brows: Nyx brow gel in “Black” and Hard Candy’s Brows now duo in Medium/Dark.

Eye Primer: I used my concealer to prime

On my lid: I took out my Too Faced Chocolate Bar today since it’s one of my favorite neutral palettes. I used Salted Caramel as my transition shade and then put Milk chocolate on the crease as well. On my entire lid I put semi sweet down with a flat brush.

I then took “Central Perk” by Colourpop and put that on the outside. You could easily use Cherry Cordial, but I am obsessed with Central perk at the moment.

I then smudged ‘Straight Trippin” by Colourpop on the lash line and applied my favorite Kiss #11 lashes.

too faced chocolate bar palette

Lower lash line: liner is Nyx’s tres jolie pencil in black. I smudged Central Perk, Semi sweet, and Salted Caramel on the lash line. Mascara is Maybelline’s Lash Sensational. Inner corner highlight is Champagne Truffle from the Chocolate Bar palette.

Lips: Necromancy Cosmetic’s “Oh No, Nancy.” I went back and forth about getting Melt Cosmetics’ “Catsuit,” but saw this one named after The Craft and bought it instead. I am not disappointed in this purchase either. This formula went on very smooth, yet remained very matte. I’m in love with it so far, and I may be getting a few more shades from their “We are the Weirdos” collection. I mean, that collection was named after me. It took me about 2 passes on the lips to get the pigmentation I wanted, which isn’t unusual for a very matte formula.

Scarf: This was a Ross find that costed me a whopping $6! I love this scarf, it’s so adorable and I may wear it past Halloween. They actually had a few really cute Halloween scarves!

That’s it for today’s Face of the Day post! I hope you all are enjoying these Fall looks both on here and my youtube channel! I’ve had a blast creating them, that’s for sure. I love how much the cooler weather and darker shades inspire me. I hope you’re all having lovely days, and if you have any requests for future looks, let me know!

Shop My Stash: Too Faced Natural Matte Palette

too faced natural matte

Hey lovelies,

Today is Thursday, so I have a look to share with you all! This look is a bit different in the sense that I pulled out some products I haven’t used in awhile, but I have some newer things to talk about as well. I really need to show some of my products some love and rotate them out, so this is my way of doing so. I hope you all enjoy it!

IMG_2126 IMG_2123

Base: Too Faced Hangoverx primer and the Covergirl Outlast 3 in 1 foundation (Ivory) mixed with Tarte’s illuminating serum. I actually got this serum off of Glambot, so it’s new to me, but not a new product. I really like how this serum allows me to wear fuller coverage foundations on my dry skin without making it look too dewy.

Concealer: Nyx’s HD lavender concealer mixed with Maybelline’s dark circle concealer.

Contour: Nyx’s HD blush in “Taupe.” I haven’t used this in awhile, and it’s a favorite of mine. I almost forgot how easily it blends into the skin.

Blush: City Color Cosmetics Baked Blush in “Rose.” I bought this awhile back and used it constantly for a month and then got distracted by other blushes. Welcome to my life. I love baked blushes in general, and this one gives a really healthy pink glow to my cheeks.

Highlight: Physicians Formula Nude Glow Shimmer Thingie. I loved this highlighter for so long and then got stuck on the Colourpop ones. This highlight is perfect for fair skin, well at least the first 4 light shades are. I used my Real techniques setting brush to apply this on my cheeks, down my nose, and on my cupid’s bow.

IMG_2125 IMG_2122

Brows: I used my Anastasia Dipbrow pomade in “ebony” today, because I haven’t used it in awhile. Yes, one of my brows are straighter than the other and not as arched. I am not someone that is overly concerned with symetrical brows because I’m a human being, and we are not symmetrical in any sense. I set my brows with Nyx’s tinted brow mascara in “black.”

Eyes: I pulled out my Too Faced Natural Matte palette today. This palette kinda got pushed aside when my Kat Von D palette arrived, but this one is really lovely. I love the warm shades in this one, and Honey Butter and Chocolate Cookie just scream Autumn to me.

My transition shade is Honey Butter. I have Chocolate Cookie in the crease and Risque on the outer corner. On my lids I actually have Colourpop’s “Onai” which is a really pretty pearlized white shade with a hint of shimmer.

I have Heaven on my brow bone and Strapless and Chocolate cookie on my lower lash line. My water line liner is City Color Cosmetics white retractable liner, and my liner is Physicians Formula eye booster in ultra black.

My lashes are Eylure’s Katy Perry Lashes. The “Oh Honey” ones. I really like these, but the band was hard to hide. I like black banded or invisible lashes, but these had a bit of white in the band, which sticks out like a sore thumb (as seen in a few photos) unless you really work black liner in there, which is a makeup disaster waiting to happen with my clumsy ass.

Inner corner highlight is Milani’s “Bella Ivory” single shadow.

colourpop blood

On my lips today is Colourpop’s “Blood” lined with Nyx’s “Deep red” retractable liner. I haven’t gotten a chance to wear this lippie yet, and I’m in love. It truly does remind me of the color of blood. How do I know that? I got a big boo boo on my big toe last week and I almost fainted at the sight of my own blood. That’s right, the chick that loves horror movies and taxidermy got squeamish over a blood soaked paper towel.

IMG_2106

And just because, here’s a sweet picture of me and my cat, Sailor. If you’re subscribed to my Youtube channel, you’ve probably seen her. My cat has the biggest catitude.

Anyway, that’s about it for today’s Face of the Day post! I hope you all enjoyed this simple look.

Review: Too Faced Vegas Nay Palette

too faced vegas nay

Hey beauties,

It’s Saturday! So, that means I have swatches of some sort to show you all, and as promised I have something pretty fun and exciting to share. I don’t believe I have swatched a palette other than the small Wet n Wild ones in a long time on my blog. To be honest, I haven’t really wanted to buy any high end palettes since the Kat Von D one I bought. However, this one caught my fancy and I totally snagged it.

If you have an instagram account and follow any beauty personalities, you’ve probably seen this palette already. If you don’t know who Vegas Nay is, she has an instagram account with over 6 million followers and posts mostly looks from other bloggers. Her name is actually Naomi, and I think she’s lovely. I love how supportive she is of others and their work.

Anyway, this palette can be found on the Too Faced website, or at Ulta. It retails at $45, but of course you can save money with ebates on either the Too Faced site or Ulta.com. I actually got this palette with an extra 20% off + free shipping, free samples, and money back on ebates. I’m all about the frugal(ish) life. I will leave my ebates referall code at the end of the post, but don’t feel pressured to use it. I just think Ebates is an awesome way to get cash back on orders and halfway justify makeup splurges.

IMG_1693

This is everything I got with the palette, and I feel that it’s a lot! The palette itself comes with the star dust shimmer, eye primer, and mini better than sex mascara. When I ordered I was able to snag two other deluxe samples, the primed and poreless primer and lashgasm mascara.

IMG_1691

Ah, can we talk about that loveliness? There’s not a lot I love more makeup wise than a beautifully packaged palette filled with neutral shades. There are 12 shades in all in this palette, and the pans are pretty big. All in all, this palette is pretty big, but because it’s slimmer it’s still easy to store, in my opinion.

IMG_1692

How did these swatch? For me, these swatched very well. The only one that felt a bit too soft and crumbly was “Jack Pot” and it honestly reminded me of the exact same texture as ‘Chocolate Martini” in the Natural Eyes palette.

Are there any repeats? The only ones that look like repeats from what I own are “Jackpot” which looks like Chocolate Martini and “Double Tap” which reminds me of Cherry Cordial from the Chocolate Bar palette. I think Double Tap may be more brown than red toned compared to Cherry Cordial though.

Is this palette worth it? This is my pure 100% honest and unfiltered opinion…yes. I really love this palette, but I truly adore most of the palettes Too Faced has come out with. They’re one of the only brands other than Kat Von D where I will plan out buying new palettes they release. I think this palette is an awesome collection piece if you collect, and I think it’s also an awesome neutral palette to have that has potential for fun and dark/vampy looks.

Too often I see neutral palettes only go for the everyday look range, and don’t put in darker shades to take it to that next glamorous step. But really, are we surprised that a palette that Vegas Nay has signed off on to not include some sultry shades? This palette has everything I look for in a palette: mattes, shimmers, glitters, a few fun colors, and a stellar matte black. For me, this is the kind of palette I can reach for without having to pull from other palettes. Not to mention, you get a stardust shimmer, mini better than sex mascara, and primer with your purchase.

Favorite Shades? I feel like I will get the most use out of Chandelier, Millenial, Girl’s Night, #selfie, Pink Pearl, The Strip, Double Tap, and Sin City. Show Girl and Golden Nugget will probably be the shades that get kinda ignored, but I don’t reach for bronze and gold shades often.

Swatches:

too faced vegas nay

chandelier, millenial, girl’s night, #selfie, showgirl, jackpot, pink pearl, the strip, follow me

IMG_1696

double tap, golden nugget, sin city

That black is almost as dark as I like my coffee.

What are your thoughts on this palette? Is it on your wish list? As for my wish list…it’s never ending it seems. Everyone is releasing awesome new palettes and lipsticks and I can’t keep up. Ha!

I hope you all enjoyed this review, and as always thanks for stopping by! If you’re new to my blog, I hope you decide to sign up for emails and stay awhile.

Have a good day, lovelies.

Face of the Day: My “go to” Date Night Look

IMG_8097

Hey lovelies,

How is everyone? I’m sitting down and typing this out on a Tuesday, and it’s been a weird day. A mostly happy day with some weird things. I started my day off by getting pooped on and I broke my favorite jewelry holder on my foot and I bled everywhere. However, once my kids laid down for a nap I was able to sit down and plan out my look for this week. I also had a great selfie day. There’s just something about looking through pictures and thinking, “Damn, I look nice,” that can perk a lady right up. And yes, you’re allowed to think you look damn good sometimes…or everyday. Because you all look nice everyday.

Anyway, today’s look is going to be my “go to” date night look lately. I tried to put my Kat Von D palette down for once and use all single shadows and some new products that I want to talk about a bit more. My go-to style of makeup in general is usually a pretty crease, a light lid, cat eye and fun lipstick. I know this differs for everyone, but I’m a bit “all or nothing” when it comes to my makeup. So, on date nights I like to go all out and feel happy and confident. For me, that includes red lipstick and cat eyes.

IMG_8095

I also put on an outfit that I would probably wear on a night out (a dress) and curled my hair. Without further adieu, let’s get into the details.

IMG_8096

My base today is actually a wee bit different than normal. I haven’t used my Hard Candy primer in awhile, so I pulled it out for this look. I actually like this primer, and do find it helps my makeup to truly stick, even in the Summer. My foundation is Nyx’s Invincible foundation in “Fair” mixed with a bit of my City Color tinted moisturizer in “fair” to thin it out a bit. That’s my number one tip for full coverage foundations on dry skin…a tinted moisturizer or a bit of beauty oil will thin out a matte foundation a bit making it lay better on the skin. I find this doesn’t take away too much coverage, but my skin has also been relatively clear lately.

My concealer is my usual…La Girl’s pro concealer in “porcelain.” However, today I set my under eyes with the City Color HD setting powder that I got in my July Ipsy bag. My first impression is that I enjoy this powder. Loose powder annoys me a bit in the sense that it’s pretty messy, but I did find this powder to be finely milled and very silky feeling.

IMG_8093

For my contour I used the dark shade in the Elf contour kit. Blush is “Birthday Suit” by Colourpop, and highlight is “Smokin Whistles” also by Colourpop.

My brows are my usual as of late, which is the Milani brow pomade in “Dark Brown” and set with Nyx’s brow mascara in “Black”

IMG_8099 IMG_8091

Okay, so for my eyes I primed with my Too Faced Shadow insurance. My transition shade is actually from a sample I received from Shiro Cosmetics called “Mourning.” It’s a lovely medium toned orangey-beige shade that is perfect for warmer toned looks because it’s not too orange. Don’t worry, I’ve ordered the full size. Then as a second transition shade I took “Dirty” by My Pretty Zombie Cosmetics (not pretty zombie cosmetics, it confused me at first too). Because I like to look like a big eyed doll at times, I did a rounded shape and took this pretty far in close to the bridge of my nose.

On my lid is actually a Colourpop shadow called “Acorn.” This came from their Spring collection, and I love it. It’s a pearlized cream color, so it gives dimension to this look without being shimmery. I applied this with my finger, which is how you get the most pigmentation with Colourpop shadows. However, concealer brushes work as well! The outer color is “A regular Bears Meeting” by Shiro Cosmetics.

Normally, I would use black liner for my wing. However, I’m still on the colored liner kick and I created a liner using Shiro Cosmetics’ “A War of Five Armies” shadow (see my method here) and I feel this really made the green in my eyes stand out. It’s a lovely dark burgundy shade. Lashes are the same ones that I talked about in my last video that you can watch here if interested. They’re just ebay lashes, but I love how wispy and romantic they look.

In my water liner I have Nyx’s jumbo eye pencil in “Milk.” Then I have “Mourning” blended out and “Dirty” closer to the lash line and slightly blended out. Mascara is Maybelline’s The Falsies. My inner corner highlight is super dramatic. You don’t have to be as dramatic as me. I used “Swan” from Colourpop. I love this as an inner corner highlight.

vampira

For my lips, it’s just Kat Von D’s “Vampira.” I haven’t worn this liquid lipstick in a bit, and I forgot how much I truly adore this shade and formula. It applies evenly and lasts all day. It feels comfortable and applies like a dream. I definitely want to get my hands on quite a few of the new shades when my local Sephora has all of them. I set my entire face with Urban Decays All Nighter spray.

Funny story about my hair: if you follow me on twitter, you would have seen me mention that I did a wet set using foam rollers and said I looked like “a punk poodle.” I did. It was bad. I put my hair in a bun and the next day (today) my hair looked better, and I went over the weird parts with a curling iron. This was the result. From punk poodle to glorious curls.

My necklace is from Bella Morta Jewelry, and my dress was actually a clearance find from Marshall’s.

I hope you all enjoyed this look! Tell me about your go to looks, for dates or whenever else. What makes you feel sexy and sassy?

Have a good day, lovelies.

Too Faced Natural Matte Palette

too faced natural matte

Hey lovelies,

Today, I have another palette review! This is going to be about the relatively new Too Faced Natural Eyes Matte palette. Not to be mistaken with their original Natural Eyes palette (one of my personal favorites).

This palette is $36 on http://www.toofaced.com or on sephora.com, but I actually snagged this for 20% using a code from Ipsy. There are two new palettes right now on Too Faced, a matte one and a colorful one. You all know how much I love matte shadows…and neutrals, so yeah, I needed this one.

IMG_6320

too faced natural matte

First off, there are 9 shades in this palette. There are a couple of repeat shades from the original, but I don’t mind. The repeat shades are Heaven, Garter Belt, Sexpresso, and Nudie. I love those shades in the original, so I honestly don’t mind having duplicates of them. However, if that bugs you keep it in mind if you’re debating on getting this.

This is the side by side comparison. Even though there are duplicate shades, these palettes are very different outside of the fact that the original has shimmer shades.

The shades that drew me in and basically seduced me were “chocolate cookie” and “honey butter.” Those shades just looked so damn pretty to me.

I do feel there is a good balance of warm and cooler shades in this palette.

The shadows did kick up a bit when I first tried them (mostly chocolate cookie) but it wasn’t too bad. The colors are still very blendable and buttery.

In terms of pigmentation, these are pretty pigmented, but maybe not as pigmented as my Kat Von D Shade + Light eye palette. I have a feeling I may be comparing every palette I buy this year to that one.

If I had to choose between the two for life threatening reasons, I would go with the Kat Von D one. Unless you’re a collector or just really freakin’ love palettes, you probably won’t need bother. Too Faced is my second favorite brand of all time though, so I wanted it for obvious personal reasons.

Hey, this is a non judging zone.

Left to right: heaven, cashmere bunny, sexpresso, lace teddy, strapless, risque, nudie, honey butter, chocolate cookie

I did these swatches over no primer.

Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase and I don’t feel it’s a redundant thing for me to have, even though I already own the original. I feel the colors blend easily and look beautiful over primed eyelids. Chocolate cookie and Honey Butter are everything, in my opinion. I really love those two colors. This packaging is also very travel friendly.

Attached is a first impression with me using the shadows and a matte brown smokey eye tutorial 🙂

Face of the Day: Warm Smokey Eye

IMG_6397

Hey lovelies,

Time for a face of the day post 🙂
I’m trying to do these posts 1-2 times a week. I have fun with them, and I do seem to receive great feedback when I do them.

Anyway, today I’m having a typical “me” day. I sat down thinking I was going to do something simple and light and finished with a smokey eye. Oops.

I used a few colors from my Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter Stack and a few from my Kat Von D Shade + Light eye palette. I used “blurr” and “unseen” from the dark matter stack, and then used a few brown shades, the burgundy shade, and a little bit of black from the Shade Light.

My face today is Nars All Day Luminous, and now that I have figured out how to make this work on my dry skin I absolutely adore it. It did take me a bit to figure out how to make it work on my skin though.

For contouring I laid down a cream contour with my Nyx wonder stick in “light” and set that with the cool brown shade in my Wet n Wild contour palette (mine is dulce de leche). For blush and highlight I went with the new Wet n Wild Silver Lake trio in “sunset junction.” I have a review of these coming up, but let me just say that I am obsessed with the highlighting shade in this trio so far. It is shimmery and slightly pink and flatters my skin tone…I would’ve paid the $4 just for that highlight. #truelove

On my brows is the Ofra cosmetics “universal” eyebrow pencil set with Nyx’s tinted brow mascara in “black.” Yes, I know one of my brows is looking a bit odd…I’m trying to let them grow out a bit so I can reshape them. It’s driving me bonkers.

I put on a coat of a new (not in stores yet) mascara by Covergirl, and my lashes are Kiss lashes #11. My liner is my physicians formula eye booster in ultra black as usual, and my water line is Nyx Tres Jolie gel liner.

Bottom lash line is smoked out into an oblivion using the same colors on my top lid.

Originally, I had gray lips and I didn’t like how it looked. So, I changed it to “Melted Chihuahua” by Too Faced. I didn’t want to get this color because the name freaks me out, but I swatched it in Ulta and needed it. I guess it’s okay since no chihuahuas were actually melted in the making of this lipstick.

Oh, and I have a new septum clicker 🙂 Yes, my baby loves to try and pull on it. Mom life.

That’s about it for today’s face of the day! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Face of the Day

kat von d shade light

IMG_6219

Today’s look is a really taupe-y smokey eye. I mostly used my new bff (the Kat Von D shade light eye palette) but I pulled a few shades from my Innerstellar palette as well. I used the cool quad in the shade light (mostly the gray and dark taupe brown shades) really define my crease and then put the shimmery taupe shade from the Innerstellar palette on my lid. I smoked the outside out with the grayish-purple shade from my Innerstellar. Inner corner is Urban Decay’s “polyester bride”

IMG_6220

Brows are Nyx’s tame and frame in “espresso” and set with the Nyx tinted brow mascara in “black.” Excuse how slightly weird they look I’m trying to grow them out a bit and they look kinda odd.

Liner is my usual physician’s formula eye booster pen in “ultra black” and lashes are Kara #43

I put Nyx’s Tres Jolie (my fave liner at the moment) in my water line and smudged the gray and dark taupe shades from the shade and light palette under my eyes.

IMG_6224

To prime my face I used my Too Faced Hangover RX primer. I used a combination of the Nars Luminous Weightless foundation and the Loreal Magic Lumi foundation. I really love this combination lately. I love the coverage of the Nars and the finish of the Magic Lumi and together they’ve been my dream team. I use the shade “Mont Blanc” in Nars and the lightest porcelain shade in the Loreal. For concealer I used my tried and true Nars creamy radiant concealer in “Chantilly” set with my physician’s formula correcting powder.

I contoured with my Lunatick Cosmetic Labs cool contour kit (the middle taupe shade) and blush is Kat Von D’s everlasting blush in “Lovesong”

Highlight is The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer and I set everything with my Pixi Glow Mist spray.

Lips are LaSplash’s smitten lip mousse in “Lovegood”

Hat is from Express and Necklace is the “ghost milk” necklace from Worship 13. It actually changes colors in the sunlight!

I hope you all enjoyed today’s look! I love cool toned smokey eyes.

Face of the Day

too faced

Hey lovelies,

I had a few people say that they wanted to see more “Face of the day” posts, so I am going to try and do just that. I don’t always have time to film looks because I’m usually tending to kids/pets in between mascara strokes, so I like doing these posts as well sometimes!

I finally picked up the Too Faced Hangover RX primer…and woah. It’s incredible! It hydrates my skin and makes my makeup go on so smooth! I’m in love. I also pulled out my Revlon Colorstay (110 Ivory) because I need to try and use it up, and it’s one of the only foundations I own that I can use alone without having to lighten it.

I also picked up a Too Faced heart blush from Ulta’s 21 days of beauty sale in the shade “Something about Berry” and I really love how dainty and flirty the shade is on my pale skin. I highlighted today using a physicians formula nude glow. I adore the packaging. Not pictured is the Jane Cosmetics bronzer in “inspire” which I used to warm up my face a bit. It’s awesome for pale skin! It’s not too warm, and not too dark.

I went for bold brows today and used the Nyx gel in “black” and set that with the brow mascara in “espresso” to try and tone it down a bit. Sometimes I just like bold brows…

latte confession

Awesome story: I have been wanting the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette for SOOOO long…and I finally have it! I snagged it off a blog sale brand new for $25! It’s everything I dreamed of and more. I could talk about the smell for ages. Yes, I’m probably the last blogger to own this but I adore it so much already! I blended out salted caramel and milk chocolate in my crease and put cherry cordial on the outer v of my eye. I then put champagne truffle on the lid and lined my eyes with my physicians formula eye booster pen in “ultra black”

I have salted caramel and cherry cordial blended out on the lower lash line with champagne truffle as an inner corner highlight

lashes are ardell #120

I set my face with my Pixi glow mist spray (amazing setting spray)

On my lips is “Latte Confession” by LaSplash Cosmetics

I hope you all enjoyed this post! If you’re new to my page, stick around if ya want!
